- In this video I show you the mics I use for my 10 string guitar recording (and classical guitar recording, if I need). Also, I've recorded a clean sound of every microphone and you have an opportunity to compare. Mics featured - ZOOM H6 handy recorder, AKG c451b, SOYUZ 013 FET.
The comparison is not COMPLETELY correct, because ZOOM and SOYUZ are XY stereo pairs, and AKG is a single mic recorded in mono. But still - I do what I can and hope it will be interesting. You can upload the audio examples from this video in wav (48kHz, 24 bit) here: / audio-examples-41857394

Great video - thanks for sharing your thoughts. I liked the combined version. For a solo version, I think the AKG had the most balanced sound - but they all sound great.
I think the soyuz sounded the best overall, but the combination you have going seems to give the greatest tonal coverage. Very well done. I know I am one of the ones that asked about your microphpne setup so very cool to see. Ill be getting some AKG and Soyuz mics soon lol.

The Soyuz mics were impressive. It had a nice full sound, and capture the bass notes well. The combination of all of the mics sounded fantastic.

Those Soyuz mics are impressive :) I see why you use them. A very nice set up overall :) I leaned heavily on Shure, AKG and Blue during my active bass playing career. Adventure on dear Marina

Looks like a beautiful song is coming! Lovely chord progression... To my ears the AKG have the best high frequencies and the Soyus the best bass frequencies

I have a pair of of AKG Perception 120, which I have used a long time ago to record duos and also some solo stuff. They're cardioid, capture a good depth to the sound, warm sounding, like the unidirectional mics featured in this video. My favs here were the AKG as well as the Soyuz which captured comparable sound depth, with the Soyuz really getting the bass tones' fullness. Can't wait to hear the full song! :)

@@MarinasDecacorde Awesome! When I originally bought the Perception mics, the guy who sold them to me suggested that I use both a unidirectional and cardioid mics together to record solo classical guitar. He said that you have to be careful to place them correctly, otherwise the recording will sound out of phase. I'm not sure if you've tried a similar setup yourself, and what were the results?
I used only 1 perception) so... but know I will know, thanx for the info. As a stereopair, I used another AKG mics. So, "were used" was a misprint)

I can't really pick a favourite. I would decide from piece to piece what sound I want to have. How warm or clear it should be.
yes, these mics have very individual sound and differ a lot.

1)Вы затем в каком программе делаете эквалиацию дорожек, ведь зум только записывает.
2) В зуме есть второй микрофон в комплекте. Чаще его используют при записи гитары. Вам он не подходит по каким либо причинам?
3)Используете ли преамп когда хотите играть вживую на концерте? Если да то какой?
преампа нет, к сожалению)
А вот при обработке записанного звука использую цифровой премая от Soundtoys. Все делаю в Ableton. 😊
Very much interesting. So, do you send all the microphones to the final mix? Or you just pic one or two of them depending on the piece you’re mixing?
Thanx! I put all the mics into the final mix, but in different proportions. Changing them, depending on the idea. :)

AKG didn't capture low frequencies Because of that it gives well balanced mix to my ear. Other two microphones recordings need to EQ.. However I like AKG sound. And love that phase you played
Which is best you ask? Closed my eyes, dug those Samsung headphones deeply into the skull and waited for that sublime moment of 'best'. Twice. It didn't come. Maybe it is the untrained ear or weak output equipment; all versions sounded quite equal to me. The melody is lovely though!
If it sounded equal, than maybe you need anouther headphones. Or getting used to, who knows.) I hear the difference even throught the smartphone dymanics. But though, if you do not need to record guitar, it all do not matter much really 🙂
@@MarinasDecacorde Need is a strong word. I am just a hobby player, albeit probably a serious one, with a love for finger style and classical 6 string. And I have honestly no idea what to really look for in a mic. I wasn't fooling earlier: The tinny sound of a smartphone recording starts to tear at me. And even I hear your recording quality is far superior (of course it is!). Also there are lots of test reports available for reading. In my experience insights from artists like yourself are often better, for being rooted in practice more than advertisement or comparison of plain physical measurements.

Все три вместе лучший вариант. Есть объём, которого нет по отдельности, есть верх, которого не хватает Союзу, и есть низ и нижняя середнина, которых не хватает Зуму и Акг. Хотя по отдельности Союз всех уделал.
Да, эта троица хорошо скомбинировалась)) я долго шла к этой комбинации, в прошлом году записывалась на 8 микрофонов, и думала, какие же оставить))
Хм... а если к декакорду приделать звукосниматель, а звук снимать микрофоном с комбика? Вроде, ДиМиола так делал с классической гитарой, у него там вообще сложная кухня. Он и с эффектом перегруза на классике играл, я сам на концерте видел
Новый будет со звукоснимателем. Я сама как раз хотела это попробовать)

У микрофона Союз, по-моему, лучший звук получился.

На мой слух, звук лучше при использовании akg, но и Союз хорошо звучит
