Ik imagine how much awareness that will bring. I spent 2 weeks in and out of the vets for my bunnie Luna and I had to get her put down due to the way she was breed. 💕💕
I also don't think it was her fault the previous two bunnies passed away either - How was she to know she couldn't keep them outside before Lennon came along - also she even tried to call the vet about the second one and the vet messed up - he told her the wrong thing.
Didn't expect a lot of people to agree or respond my comment!!! Thank you guys! Its important that we as bunny lovers and owners should take responsibility for how we take care of our bunnies and improve their living conditions as best as we can. 💕💕 No one's perfect but constructive criticism is always necessary and for the best interest of the bunny!
I’m UK bunny mum and I can’t believe you’ve done an episode here. Keeping rabbits outside is definitely something that is perceived to be what we do here. I’ve raised two bunnies indoors - and they love it and it’s so easy to do but you have to put the work in. Mine gets outdoor exercise in spring - autumn with my supervision (no cages!) we are also very under stocked with rabbit stores unfortunately and pets at home has certainly taken over. Thanks for doing this for the UK!
Coming from another British bunny mum, keeping the bunny indoors during winter is a MUST. Winters are rough, and ppl need to stop thinking bunnies can live outside in such harsh weather
I SO WISH people could do this with also hamsters, mice, rats, etc. because they are animals too and the pets stores tell people the wrong care tips WAY too often
@@breezymc3216 and for guinea pigs go to little adventures and skinnypigs1 HIGHLY RECOMMEND little adventures is more fun and skinnypigs1 has more information:) also skinny pigs 1 has one bunny :p
CinnaBear_X I love both channels very much as I have piggies myself. Just wanted to say though that Abby (skinnypigs1) does not have a rabbit anymore. He passed away a couple years ago from cancer
why y’all getting so mad they wanted her to come and fix their bunnies life. this girl had two bunnies that already died. she’s being as nice as she can you can tell she mad. bunnies are living beings too they deserve a good life. not to die after a couple months.
@@kaiiico373 You see, you might 'think' that there aren't any mad comments, but on the internet, everyone's mad lmao. I assure that you can find a strongly-worded comment down here complaining about something in this video-- more than one, actually. If not, I guess I owe you $20.
Honestly I feel rabbits and hamsters those kind of “practice animals” are always underestimated of their maintenance, and they tend or at least I think they are more maintenance then what you would think they are compared to a dog.
I completely agree. I see so many people getting their small kids rabbits or hamsters as pets because they believe that they are easy to take care of and then they dump the animal or give it away because it's more work than they realized it would be. I keep hamsters and mice and they are not easy pets to deal with, just like rabbits are difficult, especially if you have no clue what you are doing. I also have two dogs (husky mixes) and aside from training, dogs are not really all that difficult to care for.
Yeah it is soooo sad because people think their just little throw away animals that live a year or so but rabbits can live to like 10 year and you can really bond with them it’s just really sad how people realise they are going to live longer than expected and are a lot more work then just dump them
X J No. I enjoy watching a lovely smart lady helping out people who don’t understand the welfare of rabbits. Take your hate elsewhere thanks. Your comment was extremely unnecessary, and uncalled for. If you have a problem with Lorelei’s videos, then look elsewhere.
Angel Chempel I understand that she cares for rabbit well fair but she didn’t have to be rude and make that young girl feel like shit. you can see how bad and uncomfortable she made her feel. You shouldn’t be praising that side of a person regardless of what they are trying to do.
X J Shes not trying to be harsh on the girl, or any children, she’s just making them understand that owning a pet, or a rabbit in particular is a serious thing. I’m sure it wasn’t intentional what so ever. The people she visits have asked Lorelei for her help, and along with that may be some constructive criticism, but that’s what they signed up for. She’s only trying to help them so they have a better understanding of ownership. Again, if you have a problem with these videos, I recommend you don’t watch them, and not to have a go at people for supporting a channel.
9:39 Why?? It's nice that Lorelei cares about the bunnies well being and safety and everything, but to say stuff like that about a hutch, that the kids grandpa built for her...that's not nice. Saying to throw it away and burn it... I think it looks decent, and if it shouldn't be meant for a rabbit, then it could at least be used for another animal, maybe guinea pigs or rats or something?
@@me-zw9kc Not what I meant exactly. Just dismantle the hutch if possible and bring it indoors, or set up a building around it that includes a heating/cooling system. I've had rodents and would never think of putting them outside XD
Not hating for anything, but I feel she was being pretty disrespectful when she said "Your Grandad built this? Yeah we have to take it to the dumpster or burn it" Just think of all the effort and time he put into building it for his granddaughter...
Lorelei is an activist for bunnies pretty much. It ain’t a pretty business to stand up and stand strong on your beliefs and doing what’s right. I think somehow if she was any less tough in those kind of deliveries that it wouldn’t have the impact that it does on the person she’s educating it may be harsh but it’s for the best in the end we’re talking about the difference between an in adamant object and the life of an animal
its probably because david couldn’t come to the UK lmao. and the girl sounds like she has an English accent. She’s probably just a friend who lives in the UK lol
Lorelei, lawn mowers in the UK very rarely have gasoline. The issue with feeding rabbits grass clippings is because the cutting process causes the grass to start fermenting.
That was very sweet of her to gift you with something after helping her out. A lot of people in the comments section are being super critical, but all these owners reached out for help because they want to make their rabbits lives as comfortable and fulfilling as possible. A person who didn't care wouldn't do that
Lorelei, I respect your channel and what you do but I feel a few things need to be cleared up here. For a start, your perception on outdoor rabbits is well-meaning but it fails to account for numerous variables. You are correct that outdoor living carries with it a higher risk but that risk of dependent on the knowledge and the efforts by the rabbit parent in providing suitable housing. Keeping rabbits outdoors is common in the UK because we do not have particularly large houses and we are often restricted by rental agreements. We also do not have the same level of threat when it comes to predators and therefore the type of housing is going to vary slightly to that in other countries - for one, we do not need to worry about mountain lions, snakes, or bears. High welfare outdoor housing must be large, protected from the elements, contain insulated shelter, thick wooden or metal framing with galvanised fox-proof mesh, concrete slabs or fox proof mesh beneath the grass, feature multiple hiding and escape routes, and ideally have kickboards and shutters for night and poor weather conditions. Any free-range garden time must be closely supervised and only occur when the owner has appropriately secured their garden and calculated potential risks, just as they would with an indoor rabbit. Outdoors rabbits must never be kept in hutches without large secure runs attached and their enclosures must always be appropriately secured with locks and ideally security cameras. Outdoor rabbits must also be given ample opportunity for their coat to adjust to the seasons and should not be transferred indoors or outdoors during harsh weather as this will result in the rabbit ‘freezing’ or ‘overheating’, as suggested in this video. Yes, rabbits DO need time to acclimate - you should not abruptly bring a rabbit with a fully developed winter coat, who is used to living outdoors in harsh English weathers, indoors and into a heated house as this temperature change can result in overheating. This change MUST be gradual, and you should ensure that your heating is off. Outdoor rabbits, when given the correct environment, are incredibly happy rabbits who can exhibit natural behaviours, such as grazing on grass, digging burrows, binkying and basking in the sunshine. When given the correct environment and care, outdoor rabbits are no more likely to experience poor health than indoor rabbits. The prevalence of disease is no less likely to impact indoor rabbits than outdoor rabbits and as such, the only defence against disease is to vaccinate and ensure appropriate hygiene. The important thing to remember here is that rabbits living indoors and outdoors can be subject to inappropriate housing and care in the hands of inexperienced owners. Those of us who are concerned with providing high welfare care ensure that we provide exemplary housing to our outdoors rabbits and we know that our rabbits are catered for in accordance with their own needs. Not every rabbit enjoys indoor living - some prefer to live like their wild counterparts and spend their days digging in the garden, while others prefer to nap inside by a heater. Some rabbits are particularly affectionate and enjoy human company while others prefer to be left to do their own thing and would rather spend time with their rabbit friends. The one significant exception to this, of course, is when considering single rabbits, who should never be kept alone outdoors. Although arguably, rabbits should always be bonded into pairs and groups as humans are not replacements for the companionship and security of their own kind - single rabbits should be a last resort and not a result of the human deciding that they would prefer a single rabbit. Surely, the right thing to do is to evaluate your rabbit and provide them with an environment that is not only safe but caters to their own desires. I for one have had rabbits who hate being indoors and others who hate being outdoors, and I have always catered to their specific needs and can vouch for the fact that my current free-roam house rabbits are always in a fantastic mood they are able to access the garden. To argue the case that rabbits are designed to live indoors can only be done from the perspective of safety due to their vulnerability as domesticated pets, and not on the basis of behaviour or biological need. Note, your remark about the hypocrisy of the RSPCA stating that rabbits should have access to grass but not be given lawn clippings is incorrect. The RSPCA state that you must not provide lawn clippings due to the fermentation that occurs once the grass has been cut. Cut grass must be given immediately and not allowed to sit, which is what is meant here by ‘lawn clippings’, aka., grass left behind after mowing the grass and has started to ferment. It is not merely a case of the grass being contaminated with gasoline - in fact, electric mowers are commonly used in the UK. Now, as for a few other points…. You are shown to be attempting to bond or tempt the rabbit out with banana and yet you criticise the owner for having provided cabbage. Yet, banana is anything but natural or healthy for rabbits to consume. Fruit is not a natural part of their diet, perhaps with the exception of the occasional wild berry. I know that rabbits go crazy for banana and it has its place, but it shouldn’t be promoted as a healthy treat, particularly in the quantity shown here. You also mention that rabbits can be given fruit or lettuce, not clarifying the fact that lettuce is a generic term and iceberg lettuce should not be fed. If anything, a small amount of cabbage is preferable to feeding banana and other sugar-rich foods. As for the matter of the indoor cage, you are absolutely correct that it is not appropriate for living and that rabbits do not play hide and seek in their cages. However, rabbits MUST always have access to a hiding space of their own, and this cage could have been utilised as such by covering it with a blanket, removing the door and allowing the rabbit to come and go. This could also double up as a litter box and bedding. It is also useful for transporting rabbits for long car journeys and when a rabbit is recovering from surgery and must be on bed rest. There is no reason to discard of the cage, except for in circumstances where you fear that the owner would use the cage as housing and not merely a hiding place, which I assume was the case here. Whilst I generally agree with the majority of what you say in terms of rabbit welfare, it’s important to remember that your perspective is merely your perspective. I know that you keep Lennon alone and that you have used a harness in the past, which is something that most rabbit welfare experts will disagree with. Harnesses are not safe and should be used with absolute caution. Dressing rabbits up for entertainment is also not something UK rabbit welfare experts support and in that sense, we are miles ahead of what I have observed amongst the US rabbit community. As for companionship, it is a simple fact that rabbits thrive in the comfort of their own kind and while it’s possible for a rabbit to be well socialised with humans, we shouldn’t expect them to prefer our company to that of their rabbit friends. Most rescue charities, and even pet shops, stress the importance of keeping rabbits in neutered pairs. I also have to point out that when you picked their rabbit up when it was urinating on the carpet, it wasn’t the safest way to do so. You were very abrupt in the way you did so, especially considering the fact that the rabbit was not well socialised, and you did not support the rabbit's spine properly. Please lower yourself to the ground and scoop the rabbit into your arms, supporting its full body and comforting it. Had the rabbit attempted to kick free here it could very well have ended poorly. I really would recommend that you take the time to visit UK rabbit welfare advocates and see the types of enclosures and living conditions they provide to their rabbits - indoor and out, rather than merely visiting those who are inexperienced. You’ll be surprised to find some incredibly large, safe and secure outdoor setups, with incredibly happy and healthy rabbits. In fact, the majority of outdoor setups by experienced rabbit owners far exceed the space and enrichment as observed in many of the indoor setups you have awarded high marks in previous episodes. If this comes across as harsh then I do apologise, but I know that you value honesty for the sake of animal welfare, so I hope you are able to listen and learn from others too.
Thank you for your comment. My rabbits are kept outside (in the UK) and I know it's the best thing for them. They are rescue rabbits from the RSPCA and do not like being touched, they would not be able to handle living inside my home even though that's what I would prefer.
This is so well put thank you for your comment! I foster for a UK rabbit charity and she clearly did not research enough on this and has too much of a US-centric perspective.
All of these comments are superb. This whole "essay" really reflects what is clearly years of experience and maturity in rabbit welfare. I certainly learned a lot from it. It should be shared elsewhere also. A lot of the comments to this video are helping me gain different perspectives on quality rabbit welfare in different countries. One thing that did strike me was a sort of limited and superficial cultural understanding on Lorelei's part. And the insults to the UK were hurtful and ineffective in promoting quality rabbit welfare. It is important to remember that the young rabbit welfare influencers on RUclips are on their own learning curves and do not by any means have the final word on rabbit welfare. I hope they also understand that. But by going to England and creating this very much mostly positive video, Lorelei was opening up an important cross cultural dialogue on the subject.
Amy L exactly, a cat or dog would be a good starter animal. Cats are easy to take care of, I got one 2 years ago to get the responsibility of owning a pet. I might be getting ferrets 😌
p h i n n sorry to break it to you but there is no animal who is "easy" to take csre of. they sre living beings and one animal shouldn't be a "build up" to get another animal. i have five cats, not one single one of them is easy to take care of. i also need to add that animals can't be "easy" or "for practice" because they live for decades. my first cat lived 18 years, my first dog lived 16 years. rabbits live more than a decade. so, no. not a practice animal or an animal to start before getting a ferret. i am trying to explain this in the most polite way so pls don't interpret this as rude
@@phinxa2137 if you were going to have a "starter animal" a dog would NOT be it for a multitude of reasons. Depending on breed it would be the last on the list.
ForestofTooMuchFood I don’t think it’s really like that. I like to take tons of pictures of my animals but that Dosent mean that I don’t care for my animals. They were probably misinformed which sucks but at least they got help. They child seemed really sweet and she seemed like she cared a ton.
I love how she is fixing homes that has bunnies but she doesn’t have to throw away these very nice and expensive hutches, being a guinea pig owner these hutches are great for them she can donate them to guinea pig shelters or hamsters it’s not just for bunnies.
@Ava Recker I absolutely love this channel but its sooooo hard watching these videos. Hutches are not bad and to try and get rid of one her grandpa built, yikes. That's the biggest nicest hutch Ive seen. There is other ways of caring for a bunny that doesnt mean its bad /: I kind of stopped watching after the first bunny remake because of the insensitivity. I would of asked her to leave if it was me.
The vet found a tumour in my bunnies neck today. They’ve removed it and we’re all anxiously waiting to see if he’ll wake up as he is quite old. Please keep him in your prayers 😭💙
Because of you I learned so much on how to care for my bunny Lorelei you’re a godsend not only for me but to bunnies from all around the world. Thank you ☺️
thankfully our RSPCA here is better educated about rabbits and rabbit care (or at least the ones here in the ACT). I work closely and volunteer with my local one and they are pretty on the ball about rabbit care. However I can’t speak for the rest of the country
I’m from Australia and even the rspca here is pretty shamed upon and most people prefer private adoption centres however Australian rspca is admittedly more educated then the uk one it seems
The RSPCA literally have their required sized for a rabbit to be the size of an A4 piece of paper. They don’t give a fuck about rabbits, as long as they have water and shelter they don’t care how the rabbits are treated.
I don’t even own any bunnies and never have, but I love them so much and I admire how much pride you take in helping people and educating as well, seeing you cry just solely because your seeing Apollo in a happy environment and not at some kind of shelter is just…it shows how much you love and care for these creatures. :(
I can't believe she said that without hesitation...... I would have ended balling my eyes out... Seriously, how can she have a pet with such a level of affection.....
Lorelei, the hay is different because it's from a different country to what you're used to. The grass is British, the farming is British, the mowing happens in England, under different conditions. It's not bad hay, it's just different. Please don't be so rude. Fresh grass is not a problem for rabbits, if they're eating it fresh from the ground, or if it's been hand picked. It's not good for them when it's smushed up from a lawnmower, we rarely have 'gasoline' or petrol lawnmowers in the UK so that point is invalid. Please don't be so rude. At the 07:00 approx mark, you can see how uncomfortable that little girl feels. Yes, make your point that rabbits need a good and comfortable life, but please don't be so rude. There was absolutely no need to throw away the indoor hutch. My rabbit free roams a huge indoor space, and has the cage open with her litter box inside. She hops in and out when she wants to wee or poo and sometimes has little naps in there. There was just no need for it to be thrown away. As for the comments you made about her grandfather's handmade hutch, give an opinion in a tactful and polite way... please don't be so rude. You clearly hadn't heard of the RSCPA prior to visiting this family, so please don't make comments on a national institution. They have nearly 200 years of work in this country, their work is based on very considered research and history. If you disagree with their advice, that's up to you, but have some respect and decorum, and quite frankly, please don't be so rude. I understand and respect the work you're doing, but you are giving the rabbit community a bad name with your closed mindedness and communication style. The positive comments your videos receive are mostly from teenagers or children who look up to you, but any adult followers are going to see this as a disrespectful, and embarrassing bit of footage.
I very much agree. The indoor hutch can also be used as a hideout, a safe zone. I love how knowledgeable she is but she delivers the knowledge in a poor way.
I agree, the fact that their grandfather built the outdoor hutch and she suggested burning it really shocked me. You could tell they felt quite uncomfortable to reject any of her advice even though a lot of it was simply her opinions.
i really need her to come to my house because my parents wont let me keep my two bunnies inside and im so worried for them and one of my bunnies is sharing a small cage with all its babys
Valerina Schmirkovich It’s hard to give them away. My bunny is in poor living conditions but, we love her. I want to litter box train her, I want to wake up to her by my side but my mum would never cope.
I love how Lorelei is helping rabbit owners in need and traveling so far and all, but I think she was a bit insensitive. The hutch is beautiful and I'm sure they paid a lot of money for it and the grandfather put in a lot of work to make it. Sad how she suggests to throw it away or burn it -- they could have moved it inside or let the bunny out in it occasionally. I find that my rabbit quite likes the outdoors so I will seasonally let him in his hutch for a few hours. The space too! Compared to most small store bought hutches, that one is giant! I don't see why they couldn't have kept it and let the bunny out once in a while if it was nice out. I don't see why Lorelei sees outdoors as a forbidden space for rabbits, I find that most love it! I just wouldn't go as far as housing a rabbit outdoors year round, I can see the reasoning behind that. Edit: My point is, all rabbits should have the chance to go outdoors if you can. Not all will like it, but those who do should have the option of going outside once in a while. Another Edit: maybe the hutch is a bit small, but still I think the rabbit would have liked to spend like 30 minutes outside to get some fresh air every once in a while. Outdoors are for rabbits too!!
I feel like she doesn't understand that domestic rabbits still have wild rabbit instincts. It's still the same species you know. My rabbits both grew up with a lot of outdoor time and get really depressed when they're kept inside for a long time. There are a few studies that show that they need vitamin D, fresh air, and the ability to dig in the dirt. It lowkey bothers me, she treats Lennon more like a human baby than a rabbit, I think that she just thinks she is right and there is no other way to raise rabbits. A LOT of rabbits really don't like to be around people all the time and would rather live outdoors in a large shed or something than live indoors with their humans 24/7
My bunnies love running outside for a bit. Though I live in an apartment on the 5th floor so them going outside is just running around on the balcony where there are no predators anyways. I think they just like the temperature change
I was shocked that the vet said to just wait it out. That couldn't have possibly been a pocket pet vet. You don't wait out a bunny hunger strike. Lack of appetite is a key sign that something is horribly wrong. They need help the sooner the better once you notice a lack of food digestion. My wee man turned his nose to his favourite treat one morning and I knew something was wrong. The pocket pet vet (an hour away) wasn't in until that evening. I was on pins in needles waiting for the trip. They said it was very lucky that I (a first time bunny owner) noticed the problem and sought help immediately because he was in full stasis and most likely wouldn't have made it the night. What kind of pain must that be? To have your entire system freeze up. I couldnt imagine. And I couldn't imagine someone expecting me to wait it out.
Miss March1978 the same thing happened to me a week ago today my bunny of about 8 months hadnt eaten in several hours but i was told to wait even after another day had passed i was still told to wait (god knows why) and he passed away and i felt so rediculously bad because he was clearly in pain and no one did anything about it.
@@shigaraki9816 I'm so very sorry for your loss. That is such a sad situation to hear of. My experience taught me that I need to have my research done and a specialty vet on my contacts list. I was so unprepared for that situation and I'm just very lucky that I managed to find one an hour away. The average vet (not knocking their amazing knowledge and contribution to saving animals daily) has not a lot of experience in dealing with pocket pets. Often, they will just defer treatment or recommend a specialty vet. Unfortunately, in my area at least, they are few and far between. What was your little ones name? Breaks my heart to hear of any bun passing. ❤
her critical way of speaking to them comes from passion. she is just wanting the absolute best for the rabbit and I feel like we are all over looking it.
Honestly I kinda felt bad for the girl when she said her grandad built it, and Lorelei told her that she wanted to burn it. Please no hate to Lorelei. Im aware that she is making the right decision. ☺️😊 EDIT: 9 months on and im still active on this comment! i just wanted to thank you all sm for 145 likes! means a lot to me, but most inportantly, make sure not to hate on Lorelei!
Yikes this was quite insensitive and narrow-minded at points. Don't get me wrong, Lennon lives a fabulous life with Lorelei and I don't want to discredit that, but her way isn't the only way for rabbits to live successfully. I personally think it's actually a bit limiting to have a rabbit strictly indoors and to never experience supervised time outdoors; I have never seen my house bunny happier than when sprinting at full speed across a fenced-in yard. And from my experience working at a shelter and having the misfortune of people insisting on telling me all the horrible ways they let their rabbits die (dog ate them, kid squished them, etc), the U.S. is NOT superior in bunny ownership. Even my current foster bunny was rescued from an adult couple that kept their bunnies outdoors and were planning on dumping the sweet girl because she refused to be a breeding machine. Poor ownership can happen anywhere, it's all about compassionate education. And also, a great form of enrichment for a bunny is to *not* have a bowl. Scattering their pellets allows them to feel like they are foraging for their food, which is a natural instinct. The whole bowl insistance thing sounds more like a personal preference on keeping things neat rather than considering how the rabbit might actually enjoy a little searching. Anyway, I appreciate what this series strives to accomplish. People everywhere can benefit from seeing how amazing rabbits are when given proper living arrangements and care. The look on kid's faces when I tell them my bunny doesn't have a cage and snuggles in bed with me will always be priceless, so keep up the good work in education 👏
Lorelei is incredible and so kind-hearted! She goes out of her way to help people with there rabbit situations and even goes around the world to help them! I appriciate everything she does 💌🤝

I think it was a bit too bid and just an unnecessary amount of space taken up.. the room looked bigger after it was taken out :) ..it was quite a small room
"They like banana... it's like their heroin" My dad shares a little bit of his banana with my two bunnies every morning, and they absolutely RIOT if he walks past their enclosure in the mornings without giving them their fix!
Honestly you have to love someone who is honest and straight forward. I believe this woman is amazing and thank god she has educated me before I got a rabbit, or else it would not be cared for properly. I don’t have enough space, and time for a rabbit, let alone it’s a lot of responsibility. Any time I see a post on Instagram, Facebook, whatever about someone getting a rabbit I always suggest her. I believe this exceptional woman deserves nothing but love and affection from rabbits and rabbit owners.
This is what bothers me about her. Not everyone can have a rabbit running around the house. She's single, not sure she even works outside her apartment. Her perspective would change if she ever got married and had kids. Rabbits have live in hutches for YEARS and that one was actually pretty nice. And what a sweet grandpa for building it!! L puts people down too much.
@@cicileigh393 Personally I agree with most of what you're saying but I also don't agree with rabbits being in hutches. It's so dangerous for them and there's hardly any room to even run around. If you can't afford a rabbit then don't buy one.
Amazing video! You are so kind to be doing this and helping people help their rabbits! It is so cool you did this in a different country! This just shows how much you love and care about rabbits!
I’ve had my bunny for a few years. I started watching her and I ended up getting a 2nd bunny for company. I expanded their cage, changed from bottle to bowl water. Added more toys and now I’m convincing my parents to free roam my bunnies in my room 😊
Mine is fenced in an area about 10feet by 5 feet, she's super happy, just loving life. Not sure you absolutely have to free roam to have a happy bun. As someone from the UK, my rabbit got regular access outside and lived in our heated shed. I think there's nothing wrong with having an outdoor bunny as long as you're responsible and make sure at night time/when you can't watch it, it's secured and warm. ALso... not sure why the indoor cage was asked to be removed... could be used as a litter box? Interesting too see the UK and USA diufferences though
I agree with everythin ya have typed i honestlt dont see a prob with outdoor rabbits. I use to have a rabbit that lived out her whole life ..13 years she had a hutch and we gave her food and water and she had plenty of grass and had a dirt area in which she made a burrow. Awww bless you guys!! I live in the UK and have an indoors bunny. Can’t imagine him living outdoors in the cold by himself. He’s got a big play pen to nap and spend his time while I work and can’t supervise him, but he also spends at least 4 hours free roaming in my living room and kitchen every day. My favourite time of the day is when I lie down on the floor every evening when he’s free roaming and he comes to me to give me kisses and then demands to be smoothed and petted. He’s the best remedy after a long stressful day and can’t imagine my life without him ❤️❤️❤️
19:40 Outdoor bunnies definitely do need time to acclimate to living indoors, especially from September till May. They will already have a winter coat by then, so taking them inside can be very dangerous (it can cause heat stroke amongst other things)! Only ever take an outdoor bunny inside during summer when they don't have a winter coat. Or if they are ill and can't keep themselves warm. And then start with keeping it in a colder room first so they can acclimate. The same goes the other way around, don't put indoor bunnies outside during the winter, not even for a little while, because they don't have a winter coat and they are more likely to get ill or even die from the temperature shock.

@@cpenner7086 i'd just be worried about cat's or foxes getting to my rabbits at night also the cold if it was outdoors. I would put my rabbit in an outdoor pen during the day if it was a nice sunny day but not too hot. Good for bunny to get some fresh air.
I'm already crying thinking of those babies left outside. In the UK I'd also be worried about Myxomatosis. Have you visited Speedy the Cheeky House Bunny there yet?
This is nicer? I'm only a little ways into this video and paused it to the comments, because omg... This is her first video of this type that I've seen. I was planning on getting a rabbit or rabbits for me and my daughter. I automatically was thinking about a hutch and the rabbits living outside permentally, mostly due to that being our normal culture not knowing any different. I found your channel while researching about having pet rabbits and have been watching so many videos! I have a totally new out look and feel so educated from your videos and other research I have done on indoor rabbits its so nice. I have took a 360 degree turn in my understanding of rabbits. I will be picking up 2 bunnies in the next couple of weeks and there will be no cage! Or hutch in sight. I plan to have them free roam 24 7 once litter trained (xpen style for when when we are sleeping at night just for now). Thank you so much for making people aware! I was in pets at home today picking up some bunny safe toys because ino they sell some trashy ones! But I just wanted to do some bunny shopping, I saw a mum and daughter picking out a hutch I was so sad and wanted to say something! But your right our culture is so strong on huntches outside for rabbits and I lost confidence. I'm hoping keep watching yours and others videos and having my bunnies will help me grow confidence in helping to educate people. Love your channel and all you do to help bunnies! Big love from the UK 🇬🇧❤
Right, okay. I really have had a lot of help from this channel with my bunny but I find it very, very annoying when people think they can tell people what to do and the RSPCA are a very, very large organisation and even though America is bigger , doesn’t mean it’s right! It’s absolutely great that you are trying to help people be better at taking care of there rabbits but ‘educating’ the RSPCA that’s just annoying. I’m really, really trying not to hate, and I’m trying to be careful about that but I’ve noticed that Lorelei is very ‘right ur doing it wrong’ person and that she tells people what to do a lot , and u can also see other people getting annoyed at it too. I really don’t like this series and that Lorelei gets to go around houses and throw stuff in the bin. I mean Malaya’s grandpa built that and u seriously wanted to throw it away and set it on fire. I sincerely hope u don’t take offence and I’m not trying to give hate I just think it’s a very undermining project, to go and tell people how look after animals and pointing out the smallest most insignificant mistake. I really, really do hope u don’t take offence and I really am trying not to hate
I definitely understand where u are coming from, she should have re used the old cage into something else but other than that I think she did a good job in making the rabbits living area better. There are alot of risk to keeping a domesticated rabbits outside. And I do think she was quite blunt with the way she worded things but I think I she just has alot of passion for rabbit keeping.
vets only ever specialise in dogs and cats. it is so upsetting that her second rabbit died because the vet said ‘leave him’ after he stopped eating. she couldnt have know how to take care of him. always get a rabbit specific vet. and *never* just leave a rabbit who is not eating. the rspca also only specialise in dogs and cats.
That's not true vets have 7 years of training in the UK and only some of it is for dogs and cats also it could have been a trainee or receptionist and didn't know everything about everything
I can't believe a vet would say "just leave him" when rabbit wasn't eating. Also the RSPCA looks after and protects all animals. There are loads of programs in England about looking after animals. Vet on the Hill, Super Vet, the peoples vet, Pet Rescue as well as ones about dogs like the dog rescuers, for the love of dogs etc. We are supposed to be a nation of animal lovers. I wouldn't have got rid of the cage it would be useful just to put the rabbit in if people were coming round or to keep it safe at night and let it out in the morning.
You are a blessing to all bunnies😊. God has given you the gift to help and do the most you can, advocating for these loving animals. You are on a mission that God has set out for you to complete .
Thankfully, things are slowly starting to change with more and more people keeping bunnies indoors.
Coming from another British bunny mum, keeping the bunny indoors during winter is a MUST. Winters are rough, and ppl need to stop thinking bunnies can live outside in such harsh weather

I also have two dogs (husky mixes) and aside from training, dogs are not really all that difficult to care for.
i have 2 dogs and i’ve been binging a bunch of pet youtubers lately and they all seem MUCH a harder to take care of than dogs lol
Yeah it is soooo sad because people think their just little throw away animals that live a year or so but rabbits can live to like 10 year and you can really bond with them it’s just really sad how people realise they are going to live longer than expected and are a lot more work then just dump them
Birds too. Though, thankfully people are beginning to realize that birds are some of the hardest pets to keep in captivity
I completely agree. I have a hamster, and have owned 6 in total, and they are NOT good pets for kids!

Lorelei, lawn mowers in the UK very rarely have gasoline. The issue with feeding rabbits grass clippings is because the cutting process causes the grass to start fermenting.
Someone flying over to a *different* country to help for a rabbit’s life is just *AMAZING.*
Couldn’t agree more with everything you said. 👏🏻🙌🏻 As someone who’s studied animal care and now studying to be a veterinary nurse. You are spot on!
I felt so sad when the mom said a rabbit was a “practice” animal, and they’re building up to get a dog😢
Amy L exactly, a cat or dog would be a good starter animal. Cats are easy to take care of, I got one 2 years ago to get the responsibility of owning a pet. I might be getting ferrets 😌
ForestofTooMuchFood yea
p h i n n sorry to break it to you but there is no animal who is "easy" to take csre of. they sre living beings and one animal shouldn't be a "build up" to get another animal. i have five cats, not one single one of them is easy to take care of.
i also need to add that animals can't be "easy" or "for practice" because they live for decades. my first cat lived 18 years, my first dog lived 16 years. rabbits live more than a decade. so, no. not a practice animal or an animal to start before getting a ferret.

I’m from Australia and even the rspca here is pretty shamed upon and most people prefer private adoption centres however Australian rspca is admittedly more educated then the uk one it seems
Jessica Therese in Scotland it’s the SSPCA. But when I adopted Tim they asked less questions than Pets at Home...
The RSPCA literally have their required sized for a rabbit to be the size of an A4 piece of paper. They don’t give a fuck about rabbits, as long as they have water and shelter they don’t care how the rabbits are treated.
i have two Rabbits and I've been following your instructions in the growing beautifully
I don’t even own any bunnies and never have, but I love them so much and I admire how much pride you take in helping people and educating as well, seeing you cry just solely because your seeing Apollo in a happy environment and not at some kind of shelter is just…it shows how much you love and care for these creatures. :(
“Don’t talk about death yet talk about the rabbit” “ok so he was cage aggressive then he went outside and THEN he died”
@Maryam Wharnsby She's 11. That's how they write their essays, too. :)
😂😂
Why am I laughing?

Ashton Lewsey I 100% agree
mssheltn1 are you in the uk
I agree, the fact that their grandfather built the outdoor hutch and she suggested burning it really shocked me. You could tell they felt quite uncomfortable to reject any of her advice even though a lot of it was simply her opinions.
Look, sorry to be disrespectful but hay is hay. Grass is grass. It doesn't change depending on the country ❤️

Omg im sorry but u need to get them inside just talk to them
Valerina Schmirkovich
It’s hard to give them away.
Idk bout y'all but my rabbit is hella scared of going outdoors.

Bunnies died in this I'm not that far in
I was shocked that the vet said to just wait it out.

YOU DONT KNOW HOW LONG I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VID!❤️
Why does this not have more likes?

Honestly you have to love someone who is honest and straight forward. I believe this woman is amazing and thank god she has educated me before I got a rabbit, or else it would not be cared for properly. I don’t have enough space, and time for a rabbit, let alone it’s a lot of responsibility. Any time I see a post on Instagram, Facebook, whatever about someone getting a rabbit I always suggest her. @Janiah Torres Oh it is rude, I know she has good intentions but there's ways of talking to somebody who's young.
@Janiah Torres Why did you reply to my comment? 😂

Toni Broad exactly my 2 rabbits live in the shed and we put them in a run everyday
I agree with everythin ya have typed i honestlt dont see a prob with outdoor rabbits. I use to have a rabbit that lived out her whole life ..13 years she had a hutch and we gave her food and water and she had plenty of grass and had a dirt area in which she made a burrow. I feel like indoor rabbits dont get to do all the natural things like burrowing/diging or foriging and was overall a very happy bunny

He’s the best remedy after a long stressful day and can’t imagine my life without him ❤️❤️❤️
I smiled through this whole video. I love seeing rabbits getting a better life. Hugs from my rabbits Raven and Thea❤️
I'm getting a bunny soon and i'm so exited. Your channel has helped me so much! 😝

Girl you are the best person I’ve ever met for doing that you stay strong keep doing what you’re doing help others you’re doing well in life
Right, okay.
She thinks she knows better than everyone.
But the rspca is shit
she literally said its not her job to educate them
Mya Anderson this is your second comment I’ve ran into scrolling down. You clearly are so triggered by this video lmao
vets only ever specialise in dogs and cats. it is so upsetting that her second rabbit died because the vet said ‘leave him’ after he stopped eating. she couldnt have know how to take care of him.
always get a rabbit specific vet. and *never* just leave a rabbit who is not eating. the rspca also only specialise in dogs and cats.
“dO tHeY sEll BoWLs FoR HuMaNs”🤣🤣🤣😭😭
*no, we don’t sell bowls for people, they eat soup on the table 😂*
