I take the Blue Line train from Shrewsbury MetroLink Station to the Central West End MetroLink Station now a days on only Wednesdays and Thursdays thanks to this epidemic that we are in when I used to take the train Monday-Friday. It was only a 20 minute ride. And yes there are a few rowdy patrons every once in a while, but don't worry, there are a lot of kind pedestrians that will help you out.

I do volunteer work for this service on Facebook. Sad thing is that I am doing a grand job in trying to help boost ridership by spreading the word about this service, the only way to get free passes is if I work at the airport. And I agree. I volunteer via Facebook in a group I created for visitors and not offering free passes for a grand job is stupid.
That'll be risky. It's not as simple as being a stranger to a new system and just asking the train operator can I record at the front. I prefer just doing recordings from a passengers perspective to get the content & go. A lot easier and less intrusive to the safety of the service.
@@MJofLakelandX I also want to add in there that when I was just standing at the front of the Blue Line train to Shrewsbury MetroLink Station, I was looking into the drivers cab to see what they had to press (just because I was curious (and I was doing that for several days straight and not getting asked to stop). Then 1 day, 1 of the drivers did asked me to either sit down or stand some place else because she was getting uneasy about someone looking into the cab. Maybe because she thought that I was planning to do something wrong. But nope, I was just a curious passenger wanting to see what they had to do because maybe if 1 day my current job didn't want me there anymore, I could pop into the train/bus driving business with Metro. Plus I also like trains and wanted to know what to do and all that.
I love this service. I had to block someone for talking stupid here. Yes that was rude but this is one way to have this reach more communities in the St. Louis Metro area. Yes I am from the real world. And yes the real world often ends up on the news with tons of negativity which is greedy corporations and too many shootings. For someone living in Shiloh, Illinois wanting to commute to Chesterfield, you realize how much gas that would take to drive the distance??? Compare that to a $3.00 one way fare, that is cheap to ride the train and change to a bus to go to Chesterfield. To go from Shiloh to Chesterfield, a commuter would have to pick up the Red Line, change anywhere between Fairview Heights and Forest Park to the Blue line, and then pick up the 258 bus. Some employers will even offer discounts to their employees to buy bus passes at their place of employment as a way to save lots of money.
If you want me to do front-view, please give the train operator a notice before I do it so I don't become a "security threat". There's a reason I do side window recordings.
A train to nowhere. All that money to bring passenger trains to corn fields while large parts of St. Louis city are unserved. You couldn't make stuff like this up.
+3506Dodge TBH with you I didn't realize how far it traveled into Illinois. First time riding just to head out there to begin this recording it felt like hours, especially when you never rode the service before. I can agree that much of the Illinois portion could have been covered with a simple express bus service and just have the east-end terminus be Fairview Heights. Much of the railway heading east of that junction could have been an extension to Chesterfield or something west. I guess Illinois deposit more funding into their layout than Missouri did. One state isn't going to pour in money to help another state no matter how much sense it would have made to connect to a potential major employment hub being Chesterfield. The life of foolishness and ignorance.
+3506Dodge I just finished watching this video and you're right it doesn't seem to serve much purpose by running the train out into such a rural area before serving the city center.
you are right there are still large parts of the south, West and north sides of the city that needs to be served so many neighborhoods in the city that need the train system.. not to mention south, west and north county area's
Instead of recording how about you teach people about using the train. St louis has 2 lines and st. Louis people still can't get that right... GET A JOB.. you filming trains
Metrolink is like the BART of the Midwest. rapid transit on a regional rail footprint. We need MORE
Good video hi from the South suburbs of Chicago Illinois. The ride kind of reminds me of The South Shore Line in Northwest Indiana, and Metra.
This feels like a modern day interurban.
When was this filmed?
very fast moving. cool
I rode this once from shwersburry to the other side of the Mississippi River

Oh man. How come you didn't sit in the first car and get a driver's view? That would've been more exciting to watch.

I live out in Lebanon Ill and I am glad I can catch the train to StL. Especially since my tax dollars go to both states out of my paycheck!!!!
before this opened in 1993 busses would transport those from Illinois to Missouri (actually that was the ONLY way to do it for public transit).
Instead of recording how about you teach people about using the train. St louis has 2 lines and st. Louis people still can't get that right... GET A JOB.. you filming trains
filming trains can actually be a great job! that is if you have outstanding footage. with a little work whoever recorded this could sell good footage.
I know this is late but I do have a job... driving transit buses in Baltimore, MD and still do this as a hobby. I appreciate your comment though.
