First stop, Cozy Soup & Burger on Broadway to try some legendary Split Pea Soup and meet with owner, John Stratidis. Next stop, I get my hair cut at the famous Astor Place Hairstylists and get a behind the scenes look at Big Mike's art gallery.
Lessons Learned [so far]:
#1 - Make sure your neighbor is OK! Are they dipping their hot dog in their beer at a sporting event? Check in! You never know when someone might be struggling, even if they don't say it.
#2 - Don't judge a book by its cover. Don't jump to conclusions before you know someone, and don't rag on your friends if they step out of their comfort zone - like, if they decide to start painting fine art, or they decided to wear a banana costume at all times, for example.

This episode is hitting me extra deep today.... I lost one of my life long friends to f**tanyl od yesterday... we're only in our 30s .... I reached out and wrote to her in jail last month to tell her I still loved her very much and that I wasn't angry with her anymore.... she got out last week and passed away this week..... I'm so glad I reached out and told her I loved her before it was too late..... I hope if anyone reading this has a loved one who's experiencing addiction and that if you may not be on the best terms with them regarding how they are behaving and the person addiction can turn them into, I just hope that you also get the chance to tell them you love them one last time..... because we never know when that last time is going to be 💔

I absolutely agree that making friends as an adult is extremely hard, in my mid-20s, I have 3 close friends whom I don’t live close to at all. So I don’t hang out with anyone in person.

When we were in our 20's we were like a bunch of friendly puppies; always ready to make a new friend; the more the merrier. Man, try moving to a new town in a new country at the age of 50! It is so hard to find peers who are looking or open to making new friends. I had most success developing friendships with other newcomers, and with people 20 years younger than me.
