  • In this video, I demonstrate how to read and set your initial (base) ignition timing. This is your first step into ignition timing, preceding "Total Timing" and "Timing Curve" (mechanical advance). I will save the latter fine tuning ignition adjustments for another video!
INDUCTIVE (STANDARD) TIMING LIGHT - amzn.to/2xRj5uD
    (For setting your initial timing)
    ADVANCE TIMING LIGHT - amzn.to/2xQVTfO
(For setting initial timing and timing advance/retard)
    DIGITAL TIMING LIGHT - amzn.to/2j6Kg0P
(Same as advance light, plus LCD digital screen)
    DIGITAL PRO - amzn.to/2wJ0XV4
(Features advance/retard function, LCD display, digital tachometer, dwell reading, voltage, and even works on 2 stroke engines. For the ultimate gearhead!)

Will adjusting the total timing after finding the initial timing interfere with the initial adjustment?

Depends how you do it. If you rotate the distributor it will. If you change the flyweights and springs no you wont. However it only changes how fast or slow it gets to total advance

He needs to make sure the point dwell is 32-36 degrees first. Every two degrees of dwell changes timing one degree
