Fellow South Carolinian here. Gotta love seeing people driving their classics instead of just sealing them in some bubble never to see the road again. I daily a 72 C10 with a carbureted 350. GM built everything under their umbrella till the early 00s to last a lifetime. Keep it going brother!
I daily drive my 72 F100. Been doing it since 1999. I've never made a truck payment, although I have upgraded it over the years. It outlasted everything so far. It would probably survive an EMP. And just try to go a day without someone waving or saying "nice truck". Basically it is a fifty year old tractor. I thank the Lord for it.
I have a 78 T/A as a daily driver. Got it a couple of years ago and had little to do in order to make it road worthy. It sat for at least twenty years. Stock 400ci Pontiac with a 350 turbo trans.
I daily drive a 1964 Chevy.. for the last 13 1/2 years. Remember , back then these old cars were daily drivers..cause that's all there was to drive . That's what they were built for. I remember when cars like that Pontiac you have there were brand new.
There are at least 2 things to keeping a car that is 44 or more years running. One thing is whether the car spent most of its life in an area where the body and frame do not rust and corrode out, such as a dry environment where it does not snow. Also the other factor is maintaining the car in good running condition and replacing things that wear out or fail. One problem that I have heard about keeping older cars running is that certain parts can become difficult to find or can become unavailable. This can make it difficult to maintain the car.
The very first thing I did Was : went to Walmart Purchased a cup holder Drilled 3 small holes on the base of it And Inserted screws to the original cup holder in my red C5 . Wow : I can put a big drink on it. Won’t spill anything
I have a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 with the big block 352, with an HI electronic ignition, Edelbrock 750 4bb, Aluminum rad, electric fan. Everything else is stock or OEM if replaced anywhere on the car. Bought with 25,000 original miles. I have 50k on it now. I rebuilt the motor 14 thousand miles ago (30 over, cut the crank, bigger bearings and the cam is one size bigger than stock) and almost immediately my daily driver took a shite on me and I was forced to use the Galaxie as my daily until I could secure a new daily. That, for various reasons, took one year and at least 10 thousand miles. Closer to 14k. Performed like a champ. A little hard on gas but she did everything I asked her to and before the rebuild she had been to Buffalo NY, Akron Ohio, Orlando Florida and all over the state of Pennsylvania. They were good enough then and they are sure as hell good enough now.
For the last two months I’ve been dailying a 77 c10 with a 350/350 combo and a/c. Truck is solid and starts within a second of turning the key. Just hit 86,000 miles
Very nice. I'm in the upstate I'm trying to figure out where you are. I love seeing older cars still on the road. Older cars have more soul. My daily is an 02 Trans Am.
I am daily driving a 1974 Firebird for the last 4 years. One of the most reliable and fun cars I ever owned. I fully service it myself. I’d pick this old Bird anytime over any new car.
I know a old man 75 years has been driving his 36 Chevy coupe, for over 30 years, summer and winter, so why can't you drive that its just stupid, not only that, the cars of the past were made wy better than the junks of today,an that is a FACT
Through highschool and college I drove my 1987 monte SS from 1999-2012.... now that I'm married with kids I'm putting it back together as a daily for work ... ls swap 5.3 #thanks for motivational video
AS LONG AS YOU DON'T MIND THE LOW MPG I DON'T SEE A PROBLEM WITH IT. I PUT AN LS3 ENGINE & OVERDRIVE TRANS IN MY '72 HURST/OLDS, IT GETS 30 MPG ON REGULAR GAS & OVER 500 HP.
Dude that’s crazy I was recently driving a 1986 Ford F150 is my daily driver and I was perfectly happy with that truck. When I was younger I was driving a 1973 Ford grand Torino that was my daily driver and I didn’t have a problem with that either. As long as the car runs good has a good air condition what else do you need
You're absolutely right! I do need to invest in AC for the firebird! You say you have an 86 F150, Bullnose ford's are great! I own two 1986 F250's. One a big block truck and one a small block truck. I'd drive them anywhere! Great trucks! Next week I'll be putting the small block truck on the channel.

A well maintained 44 year old car is mechanically far superior to the new trash they pump out.
I daily drive my 72 F100.

Very cool story!!! That's the best part, no payment and you get the waves and meet some of the best people through these old rides! Enjoy it!
I daily drive a 1998 v6 Firebird and I love it. As long as you keep up to date on maintenance, go for it! Pontiac forever.

the biggest issue with daily driving an old car is lack of cupholders.
I agree!!! It's not horrible in the firebird with the auto, but in my 86 F250 with the 4 speed.... impossible!!!
a roll of duck tape sitting on the seat will work.@@runsgoodbutsmokes

Good video! Love the content. Can’t wait to see what this car becomes in years to come
Got some speed parts for it yet!! It's almost time to put those on!
Parts breaking/wearing out combined with parts availability are gonna be your biggest adversaries when dailying a car like this
A guy I met at a car show daily’s his 1923 ford model t. No car is too old!
I daily my 77 couple DeVille. It's just been well maintained. I also have a 85 6 door Fleetwood that my dad dailys. Good old cars.
For the last two months I’ve been dailying a 77 c10 with a 350/350 combo and a/c. Truck is solid and starts within a second of turning the key. Just hit 86,000 miles

@Cuddlebear074 very nice glad I'm not the only one daily driving these old cars!

my 1971 455ho is nearly a daily driver and I love it. If it's well maintained, there's no reason you can't drive it very often!
That's awesome and you're 100% right!!
@@runsgoodbutsmokes Cheers from France👍

PS. My AC hasn't worked for years.
Drive it like it was meant to be driven.
GR8 vídeo clip 🎉
Dailyed my 93 cougar for 7 years, it's a project in of itself keeping that thing drivable
I drive a 1967 Buick everyday.
just one question " how many thumbs up you get while driving , and smiles per gallon " ?? :)

Also my grandpa designed and manufactured those snowflake wheels. He was the founder of Western Wheel
Ok, so dropping an LS into a car that old is kind of cheating but still cool you are trying to daily drive it. 😁
You're right! But at least I can admit it!
daily drive my 1968 300 440 4 speed stick shift 64 total miles from home and back...can you daily a old car? yes we can!
My daily driver is 54 years old and has not more issues than a newer car: It's a Volvo 145 .
Question: Which engine is in there? It seems like most of these 79 Formulas have the Pontiac 301 in them. 🤔
Did you watch it? I popped the hood at the end.
i drive a 73 caddy with a 501 every day to work 100 miles round trip
Drive time
Not the same as driving it with a older motor in it
That might be a good thing. The 301 was only good for being reliable, I guess.
@@runsgoodbutsmokesnot against it just kinda click baitish lol
Good video but clickbaity headline. Most of us are doing just that because cars are expensive
So frustrated watching Americans drive single file in the passing lanes for miles & miles.
yes i do my 79 camaro
i daily a 94 f-150 and its toyota reliable!
