Welcome to the nineteenth session of the "How to Meditate" course! In this penultimate session, we explore the power of choice available to each one of us - to choose Peace over Pain, by staying in the Present, instead of suffering over Past or worrying about the Future. Though it may seem obvious to choose peace, we often unconsciously choose pain albeit unconsciously. This session dives into how mindfulness can help break this unconscious cycle and present the choice of consciously living in the present.
We will go over the following aspects in detail:
The importance of accepting and letting go
How mental stories about being right or wrong create unnecessary suffering
Techniques for choosing peace under challenging situations, especially at work
Taking mindful action from a place of wisdom and non-reactivity
We will start "Vipassana - Open Awareness" meditation practice (also called Insight Meditation) at the end of this session. Vipassana means to see clearly, to see as it is. Some meditations are done with single-pointed awareness by choosing one object and directing our undivided attention towards that object. However, in the practice of Vipassana with open awareness, we take the position of an observer and allow our awareness to move from one object to another whatever comes up most prominently in the moment. It is a state of effortless presence, a practice of being instead of doing. This practice unifies all the experiences including our breath, body, thoughts, emotions or other sensory experiences.
Subscribe and stay tuned for the last session of the course and to begin the next phase of your mindfulness journey.
Happy Meditating!
