@@AllAboardBoardgames I played it a lot when it first came out and just started to play it again so I started watching videos and found yours. Just started your video on Viticulture World which is brand new to me
Very helpful and clear. I like the way there is no "useless" chat, as many videos have, instead you are focussed on the game and what the public want to see. Good explanations and very useful indeed. Have now subscribed, looking fwd to see what else you do. Many thanks!
Thank you very much for the subscription Andrew and welcome aboard. We are really happy to hear that you enjoyed the video. We are in the middle of a "Lost in Space" series at the moment where we are playing a few space-themed games, so I hope you can enjoy those. Plenty more playthroughs to come on our channel! What kind of games do you like?
@@AllAboardBoardgames Very much looking fwd to space-theme (one of my first games was Awful Green Things... :))... also have Lifeform and looking forward to Interstellar on Kickstarter soon too. We often turn the TV off and have 2-player games at home with my wife and play things like Viticulture, 7Wonders Duel, Splendor (no Marvel please!), Carcassonne, Takenoko and others... vast collection, like so many of us, but so little time to play! Keep up the good work!
@@irinapana6irinapana697 It is so much nicer to sit down and play board games than watching TV! It is so much more interactive and a really lovely way to pass the time. It really is such a great hobby. You don't like Marvel Splendor? I like it a lot because of the extra mechanic of having to have at least one card of each colour, and the Avengers token if you get 3 of those symbols in your tableau is another nice tough. I guess the original Splendor theme is more appealing to some people though. Yes, it is indeed hard to find time to play all of the games we have in our collections but when we do, it is so great! Thank you for the encouragement... We will keep plugging away and try to keep improving our videos!
Yeah, Glai was all over me on this one. The special workers do add a new level of strategy to the game and we use them all the time! Did you get to try them out?
Enjoying this video. I just ordered the tuscany expansion. I notice it seems to add speed as far as building your winery up and selling quicker than the base game play. There were times one of you didn't take up the bonus feature on the board. Do you have the option to place your worker there and keep your opponent from getting a bonus there? Or were you just being friendly and no cutthroat style? The complaint I get from friends when playing this is "It's too long". It seems like this flows quicker. Can't wait to get this expansion.
Hi Mike. In the 2-player game, only the left action space is available so we are not allowed to place our workers on the other spaces. In a 3-player game, the two leftmost spaces are open and from 4-players and up, all of the spaces are available. With multiple spaces available, you are free to place your worker on any of the spaces and you may take the bonus printed on the space. The Tuscany expansion is great for this game. It really adds a lot to it. Hope you enjoy it when it arrives!
Thank you very much Scott. It is great to hear that you enjoy our videos. We really appreciate that. Tuscany does indeed change the game up for the better. It adds a whole new dimension to the game.
Congrats on your channel! I really enjoy watching your playthrough videos, I find them entertaining but also very instructive. I hope in the future you upload more Uwe's (caverna please) Keep it great guys!
Thank you very much Youseev. We're delighted to hear that you enjoy our videos and that they are also instructive to you. I am a big fan of Uwe Rosenberg so you can rest assured that we will be uploading more of his games in the future. Caverna is also on our list, so you will definitely see it here at some stage.
It is a great game, and I would recommend getting Tuscany for sure. It adds a lot to the game and changes things up a lot. The expansions series lets us revisit some of the games we played before on the channel and really like, so that is really nice for us. Hope you enjoy the series!
11:50 not sure that is how the turns work. I haven’t the rules but all players must play for a particular season, then all must pass to then move to the next season. One player doesn’t play a season ahead, or behind because another person has no workers.
Hi Steve. From what I can see, we are playing correctly here. I (Pat) passed for Fall first and Glai continued taking her Harvest action in Fall. Then she passed and moved into Winter. I passed straight away because I had no workers, so at this stage I have to go through the year end procedure. Glai continued playing in Winter and took the Train action before passing and going through her year end. I didn't spot anyone playing a season ahead there, but please let me know if I missed something and I will make a note of it in the Klingon subtitles. Cheers.
@@AllAboardBoardgames yea, I see what you did; given you didn’t have turns you just went through the motions. I think as it was at the time in the video it looked as if you where playing ahead of the other player. Good game. You need the metal coins!
@@stevegeorge7773 Metal coins are great. They really make a difference to the feel of the game when you play with them. We have some generic metal coins that we bought recently and we have used them in some of our later videos like Ark Nova and Terra Mystica. :-)
Just discovered this channel and your play throughs are really great, clear friendly and instructive. The videos look like a huge amount of effort! Anyway, I only own the base game, and knew little about Tuscany. But wow, this is like a different game. I hadn't realised how much the expansion changes the game. I like the seasons better here as its more thematic than base game. I also noticed that you used fewer visitor cards, perhaps because the board has more options. The base game encourages a focus on visitor cards.
@Rik77 We are really delighted that you are enjoying our playthroughs so much. Getting comments like this really make it worth the effort! Tuscany really changes up Viticulture, and I think makes it a lot better. The ability to trade cards and grapes takes out a lot of the luck factor in the card drawing and of course, as you say, the four seasons is more thematic. The board has a lot more options so certainly there is less need for visitor cards, though they are still very useful. The Star map also gives you options to get cards, lira and other resources. We would definitely recommend it!
I have Viticulture Essential Edition but I haven't played with the Tuscany expansion yet, idk about the stars on a map part but I saw that there are layers of the expansion you can add or leave out
The Tuscany expansion is very good for Viticulture. It has 3 modules that can be used in any combination. There is the extension board, which now has 4 seasons, and the influence map where you place your stars as well as a number of new actions. Then there are the special workers and the new structures, which come as a deck of cards and can give you new abilities. If you have played the base game a lot and want to freshen things up a bit, the Tuscany expansion really breathes new life into the game and I would definitely recommend getting it!

Nice, one thing, in rules there is recommended variant for 2 player game, where stars are not counted for bonus points at the end of game and I prefer this one, but it depends on you, what you like and in this game it didn´t change anything :)
Hi Lukáš. Yes, I saw that variant in the rules book. However, I like to use the bonus points for stars option. It gives you something else to keep an eye on in the game. Most of the time, you will not get points for the stars, or only 1 or 2, but if your opponent does not pay attention to the star map, you could get a lot of points for it so I like the fact that you have to always be aware of it.
Hi Pat and Glai! I haven’t commented on your videos in a while but I still love watching them! Viticulture is such a charming game! I watched your playthrough of the base game as well as this Tuscany play. How do you like this expansion? Would you recommend it or do you think the base game is sufficient? I just bought Viticulture last week and I’m hoping to play soon. Thanks for your great content!
Mrs. Jackson! Great to hear from you. How are things? Viticulture sure is a charming game, and a theme that I love! As for the expansion, I couldn't recommend it more. It really does enhance the experience and fixes some of the main problems with the base game. Now, having said that, I really do enjoy the base game too. Sometimes, however, you just don't get the cards you need - especially vine cards, and the expansion at least gives you a way to trade for other cards or to be able to get grapes of a colour you need. I would say you should play a few times with just the base game, and if you really like it then go ahead and get the Tuscany expansion. We found it improved a game that we already liked a lot! Did you get a chance to play your copy yet?
@@AllAboardBoardgames Hi again! Thank you for responding! Call me Dee your so kind to always reply I feel like I am talking to board game friends haha. My husband and I played Viticulture twice over the weekend and we love it! Once the vines are planted and wine is made it's a race to fill the orders. Glai's tip to sell a field early to get lira was great! I did that in both games and was able to build the structures I needed to get my engine going. I see how the luck of the vine and order draws could be a problem. We'll play a few more times before we try Tuscany. We love the base game!
Hi Dee! Yes, one of the things that is really nice about doing this channel is getting to chat to other board game lovers like yourself. It is a great hobby and gives a great opportunity to meet many great people. If you don't mind me asking, what part of the world are you in? Glad to hear that you love Viticulture. We really enjoy playing it too. It is such a chilled out game, and one I always enjoy coming back to. Glai's field-selling strategy works really well. Actually, she almost always beats me in Viticulture, but it is still tons of fun, even if I lose. Tuscany really does add to the game, but I think you should play the base game only until you really need to change things up. Then the expansion will extend the life of the game!
Pat, do you agree with Glai that the expansion reduces the effect of the randomness of the cards? That's my major complaint with the base game; it a touch too dependent on the luck of the draw.
Hi Geoff. Yes, Glai is 100% correct. You are still drawing cards in the same way, but there is now a new action in Summer that allows you to trade one for one. Your options are 2 cards, 1 grape (red or white), 1 VP or 3 lira. You can trade any of these for any other, so for example, if you did not get the vine cards you wanted, you can trade 2 of them for 2 different vine cards, or trade 3 lira for 2 more cards etc. This increases your chances significantly of drawing better cards. Of course there is always going to be some luck involved but at least now you have options to improve your situation. Also, if you can't get the grape colour you need, you can get a different coloured grape using this action space. There are also new ways to get cards such as on the wake-up track or by placing stars, so you should be able to get decent cards early enough in the game. I would definitely recommend playing Viticulture with the Tuscany expansion. It does fix a lot of the problems that the base game has.
I sugggest Tuscany along with Visit from Rhine valley card expansion, this one is focusing more on your vineyard and support of wine making, this combination of expansions is my favourite Viticulture experience.
