The Chen is outstanding! So responsive! And the overtones ring forever into a swirling cloud of colors..

The sound of Lisa Weinzierl - 2024 guitar was distinct and outrageously precise. Each note chosen for emphasis sounded distinct and appropriate in the melody. The beautiful individual notes were clear without impairing the wonderful resonance of the guitar. Will be a professional guitarist choice imho.

Love them all, but for me the Van Venzel mellow tone made it my favourite :)

What can one say! Astohnishing, beautiful! They all are. Such a pleasure to hear such amazing instruments!! SO glad they are still being build and the standard seems to raise continuously. But I have to agree. The 1988 guitar is also absolutely amazing! Thank you for presenting!

The Chen is surely great, very clean, balanced, powerful. The Dammann is also great, old world sound with extremely focused sound and bold projection. Interestingly the sixth string side of its saddle is closer to the nut than the first string side, by some 0.5 mm, which is opposite to normal. The Velzen sound seems to be coming from very clean and clear window.

What frustrates me is that there is so little variety in classical guitar offerings regarding scale length, number of strings (7 strings), even body shapes. A 64 cm scale length has too little effect and is useless. A 63 cm with a full body size should be more available. That scale length has many advantages and is not just for children. A 7 string offers much, much more harmonic possibilities. A 63 cm scale with 7 strings is perfectly feasible if you tune the lowest string only to D. A cutaway instead of an elevated fretboard is not something specific for a crossover. Etc... . If you don't want to order a custom model from a luthier but prefer a test-before-buy, you can wait forever to get a guitar with those features. Modern guitar builders should move forward. Most innovations concern bracing, choice of woods, not instrument shape.

I have a concert model 635 scale by German Vazquez Rubio and it is a wonderful guitar. You should check them out.

The Dammann has that same dark sound of his double tops. I saw David Russell play his DT Dammann a few weeks ago at Kings Place in London. I was at the back of this 400 seater hall and it took me 20 mins to atune my ears to the small volume reaching this distance from the stage. So, there isn't such a thing as a loud guitar, would be interesting if you did something on equipment for amplification. (PS. DR's playing was fab!)

To me the damman really shines out, because it keeps it's fundamental even in the high notes. To me it's really not a sign of quality, if the notes decay into their overtones too quickly. So to me the Tacchi-inspired guitar isn't that interresting.
