I went to a guitarshop in my hometown with an old guitar made ny Helmut Hanika in 1975 and asked if it was possible to renew it. Then I saw this Hanika 60 PF natural, played it and fell in love with it. I bought it right away! They sent my old guitar to Arnim Hanika and he made such a beautiful instrument out of my old guitar❤❤. The money they took for it was ridiculous low! So thank you again Armin!

Interesting. I came up with an armrest about a year ago which is extremely similar to the one used on the Hanika New Century Lattice. It makes playing the guitar so much easier, comfortable, and does not reduce the bass size of the soundboard. In addition, such an armrest design can be added to just about any acoustic guitar. According to Thomann, the Hanika Armrest is glued to the side of the guitar.

I bought the New Century Lattice 4 days ago at the Siccas Store in Karlsruhe: great guitar, powerful, bright, balanced. If you are tired of the typically romantic-dark-smooth sound of many classical guitars this could be an alternative!

Based on sound alone, my top 3 would be: the 1a; the New Century Lattice; and the Natural Torres. To my ears these have the most natural balanced tones. The 1a is more dynamic and open sounding. Quite a way above the others in all aspects. My top 3 are all spruce top guitars. And none of them are double-tops which though loud, smooth, and controlled have, to my ears, a very slightly artificial sound. The cheaper guitars sounded very reasonable and good value for money. Great comparison. Many thanks.

    @SiccasGuitars
IMPO, the 54 PF (the less expensive last guitar) was the best starting and ending point out of these guitars.
Each note had a pure and distinct tone that stood on its own, but was still supported by naturally balanced harmonics & overtones, and not too bright, not too loud. Maybe not quite as dynamic as some of the others, but the best overall "voice" (to my ears).
However, one thing I would like to know is HOW these are recorded?
What Microphone and preamps/recorder are used, and in what position and distance relative to the guitar?
Is there a rug or carpet on the floor and what are the acoustic properties of the room? General dimensions and are there a large or small glass windows, etc?
Many microphones, even very good ones, have a built-in rising response in the "presence" region, which is a lift or gradual boost in the upper midrange and treble region that can result in an overly bright or "chimy" sound with exaggerated overtones and a sound that doesn't represent the true spectral/tonal balance of the instrument.
Luckily, due to the apparent clarity, resolution, and detail in the harmonics and overtones, it seems that you are using a high quality microphone(s), most likely a small diaphragm condenser I would guess...perhaps an Earthworks SR25, Josephson C617 SET with Microtech Gefell MK221 capsule, or Audio-Technica AT5045?
But it would be nice to know which microphone and its placement & aiming just for reference in regards to the spectral balance?
    Thank you.

Thank you for the video! Very informative! What i take from it is that across the line of Hanika guitars presented the sound signature is 99% the same and the differences between all of the guitars are very small. 54Pc model sounded very very good! The only one that i perceive through headphones that is cleary a class above de others in sound refinement and overall is the model 1A which is like minimum 5000 euro more than the rest. I liked the most and will take in consideration for future purchase Hanika 58C. It seems to be the sweetspot in price/quality ratio. Very beautiful guitar and very sweet, clear sounding with alot of sustain. It would be great if you could do the upper range of Yamaha, like GC22, 32 and 42. GC 32 is the competition for Hanika 58. Best regards!

Thanks a lot for introducing those different price levels. I like that Natural Torres. It appears so well balanced to me. I just think that the 1a Torres seems to be slightly clearer in the high notes. I also like both the 58 and 54. To me the 58 is slightly clearer with more sustain, but the 54 seems to be very balanced.
Just my 1st impressions. I have restarted playing classical guitar after around 20 years break due to job etc (the usual stuff). So I am a beginner or re-beginner...

The Torres model is as much a Torres, as I am Cristiano Ronaldo; and make no mistake: I'm not. The strongest base note is G, it should be E, but most people don't know how to get that deep body resonance. Overall, it has a pretty sound, but it lacks bass. The double top is alright if that's your thing, it's not my thing. The double top lattice braced guitar is totally not my thing. How did they get body resonance of A i don't know but i don't dig it. It has Uneven sustain too with the D and A strings overpowering the rest of the notes within a second. The lattice braced model... no way. Natural Torres? As opposed to what, artificial Torres? For sure it was the best guitar of this session. That is an excellent instrument with a beautiful sound. Stick to that design, Hanika. The VF58, very nice too. Sweet and lyrical as Jouyan said. I bet it is fun to jam. The 54, are you kidding me? That is there affordable model? If I worked in this company's pricing department, I would reverse prices. The last three more affordable models sound wise are there better models Fo sho sho! That's American slang when you want to say for sure. Bravo Siccas.

The 54 spruce model sounded extremely warm, the warmest of the group. Re the other ones, the most potent to my ears was the expensive DT one. It was not as warm as the traditionally built ones, but with different strings and getting to know its limits it is the most concert oriented one.

Nice. I played a Hanika 60 pc (predecessor of the natural Torres guitars, but basically the same guitar) for more than 10 years. A very honest instrument, transparant and well balanced. Very good responsiveness as well. It lacked some bass though (although it made the guitar balanced as well because of that), and I just wanted a guitar with a broader, deeper sound. I sold it and now play a Juan Hernandez Hauser model (made by his son Alberto), that guitar, while not even that much more expensive than the Hanika, really is outstanding, I bet lots of 6000-8000 euro guitars on Siccas website are not better than that guitar. (in general do not spend over 3000-3500 euro on a guitar, be it classical, electric, or steel, more expensive than that is not worth it for 95 percent of players at least, but that is another topic)

I own the Hanika Natural Doubletop, the Hanika Natural TorresCeder and in near future the Hanika 1a Torres.I also own the Hanika 56 TU and had a Hanika 54PF and an Alhambra Z-Nature. Of all these guitars the Hanika 1a Torres is so far the best in terms of dynamic sound playability/balancing etc. I have experienced that the price of an acoustic guitar can absolutely make a big difference

As far as I know they use no trust rods. Just bought a Hanika Natural PF due to the Natural Torres in this Video new for 1749 Euro….. and I am totally blown away of the playability and sound! 🙏🍀✨ And I tried other Hanikas up to 5500 Euro…. they are not better, maybe the Tone „color“ a is different due to different woods. You can save a lot of money if you don’t need fancy optical stuff like expensive inlays in the rosette and bindings. This guitar looks basic but is premium class on workmanship and sound (maybe because of the special matt lacquer and wax layer that is as thin as shellac).

I have a 1988 Hanika Model 46 RF . In spite if very meticulous care… I.e. humidity control, favorable temperature environment, etc , its spruce top split in two places, the bridge cap completely split off the remainder of the bridge at a later time, then still later the entire bridge separated from the top . A nice sounding guitar but no match for my 2005 Ramirez 1a 650 Traditional . Absolutely not even close . Hopefully Hanika has better quality now than in 1988 .
Evidentially your video was produced in a room with superb acoustics as the sustain heard in all the different models was far superior to what might be heard in ordinary locations . Therefore it surely is not representative of any of the different guitars capabilities . Misleading is the word that comes to mind here . Perhaps you might have received compensation from Hanika for your video ?
Also, it is obvious you are striking the strings far too hard to extract the most volume from each guitar you play . Your playing of Standchen demonstrated that to the extreme . A very unpleasant rendition of one of Schubert’s most beautiful compositions . Segovia would have eaten you alive in one of his masterclasses .

    • @markcritchley9663
