What a blessing to hear the different tones. And your audio tech is superb.
I totally agree that the Marco Lijoi has the most balanced sound. That has been my search for a long time-to find the most harmonically balanced guitar. I can see his guitar also being perfect for chamber ensemble. It will clearly stand out among the other instruments.
I spent $6,000 on my LoPrinzi Millennium, and waited 3 years for it's completion. I wish I had that money now: I'd buy Marco's guitar in a heartbeat! Ah...c'est la vie.

@@alessiosandro123 What makes you think it is not? I can't see any reason to suspect they are different. There is the same darkish place at 2 o'clock of the rosette; the colour changes depending on the angle of the guitar to the light source; when he turns it in his hands, it becomes darker, as it is when she holds it. The sound he produces is obviously different from hers', but that is absolutely to expect with two different players with different nail shapes and technique... I'm curious what clues you have found to the contrary?

I can personally attest to the projection of Ana’s guitar. I’ve been to one of Ana’s performances and was seated way in the back row and the sound it produced was incredibly clear. So clear that I was looking for some kind of amplification. Nope, not a bit of amplification. It was all from the natural acoustic sound produced by the guitar. A truly excellent instrument in the hands of an exceptional musician.

Ana Vidović is amazing. Not only she is a humble, very disciplined, hard working person but also incredibly talented. She takes so much care about the sound of her guitar and she has a deep knowledge of what she talks about (both musically and soundwise). I wonder if she has any 'Alhambra' guitars, which are crafted here in Spain. Probably she does have one. I will say it again: she's REALLY talented. Not only as an interpreter, but also as a composer. If you haven't listened to the wonderful piece she and her brother Viktor composed together, "Raft House", I recommend you doing so. It's a very beautiful piece. So is her, inside and outside. I'm really looking forward to attending Ana's next recital here. I attended the ones she gave last June and November here in Madrid. I will never forget it.

What a fantastic interview, Ana is a phenomenal guitar player, and she is right you can have a personal relationship with a guitar. If you find the right one, you won't want to play on another. I have seven and I only love to play 2 of them. But even my favorite one I love most is not the best, most expensive one, but it is the most comfortable one. Redmond is a beautiful sounding classical instrument. I wonder if hers is the single or double top version. Ana when she plays takes command of that guitar and it does what she wants it to, she is awesome. I don't think I've ever heard her miss a note on that instrument yet. A most confident player and humble also. 😎🤠

  • @zvonimirtosic6171
    @zvonimirtosic6171 Год назад +1

Marco's guitar (w/ blue rosette) is very fine, but the tonewood has not opened yet. The tonal picture is not yet complete but it will sound great in 10-15 years.
Kim's guitar gains projection, at the expense of nuances in the middles. I think it's a usual problem with lattice-braced guitars; projection is gained by over-emphasising highs and lows.
Annette's guitar benefits from cedar top: the tone is warm & immediate, but the short scale affects lower end which is not as "nuanced". For good lows, full scale (650mm+) is needed.
Michael's guitar is fine, but the spruce has not opened yet, the mids are not quite there yet. Sounds good and rounded in the lower end, and it will be a great guitar in 10+ years.
Ana's own guitar is well played-in, the tonewood has opened up, and it sounds fantastic (well, perhaps just a tad it hides the mids, as all lattice-braced guitars do).

Of course hearing these expensive rare guitars is interesting. But when an expert guitarist reviews a guitar I would be much more interested in how she reviews AFFORDABLE , cheaper mainstream guitars. That is more interesting because more viewers could actually afford those guitars and maybe will decide to buy it.
But these expensive high end guitars are beyond affordability for normal mortals like us.

Man wtf!! everything sounded the same and why do u charge so much for guitars I mean if they have expensive inlays or fancy craftsmanship and exotic woods then it's okay but as far as sound is concerned they are all the same
You are making it vague by describing the same sound on different guitars what does "color" even mean it could mean completely different to every player also I bet if u did this blindfolded even you wouldn't understand the difference
I would rather purchase a laminate guitar and an expensive mic to sound better
    Wtf man?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We understand your concerns, and I’d like to clarify a few points about why these guitars are priced as they are and what makes them special.
Firstly, the guitars we offer are handmade by master luthiers who dedicate more than 150 hours of meticulous work to each instrument. This process involves not just crafting the guitar but also carefully selecting and preparing the materials, ensuring that every detail contributes to the instrument's unique voice and playability. The value of these guitars lies not only in the materials but also in the expertise and craftsmanship that go into making each one a true work of art.
While it might seem that the sound of these guitars is similar, especially when heard through speakers or recordings, the true difference becomes apparent when you play them in person. Classical guitarists typically perform unamplified, relying solely on the natural sound of the instrument. This is where the subtle nuances, dynamics, and "color" of the guitar come into play. These terms might sound abstract, but they refer to how the guitar resonates, responds to the touch, and projects sound in different settings. For a classical guitarist, these qualities are essential for expressing their artistry.
Moreover, the relationship between a guitarist and their instrument is deeply personal. A finely crafted guitar offers a certain feel in the hands, allowing the artist to connect with it on a level that goes beyond sound alone. It's about how the instrument responds to the player's technique, how it inspires them, and how it helps them convey their musical ideas to the audience.
While investing in a good microphone might improve the recorded sound of a less expensive guitar, it won't replicate the rich, nuanced sound that a high-quality, handmade guitar produces naturally. And in live, unamplified performances, the superior craftsmanship of these instruments truly shines through.
I hope this helps to explain the value behind these instruments and why they are cherished by classical guitarists around the world. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

The brightness of that spruce top really stood out. It would be brutal to have to choose between any of them, but if forced I'd have to go for the Kim Lissarrague, amazing sustain.

Very nice perspective....hmmm I'm going to listen a little more objectively in future...I am going to check out another guitar soon...o am no maestro but I do enjoy the tones of many other guitars moreso than my own. Maton of Australia has produces some real rich tones...

I'm just an amateur but my reaction is that I would prefer a blend of the contrasting sounds of the warmth of the cedar top and the clarity of the spruce. Could a guitar top include both woods?

Would you like to play something, a chord a note?
Me: Procedes to play G chord.
Ana: Sure, starts with Recuerdos de la Alhambra (guess for her, very simple). A legend.

i see lots of great comments about Ana...yeah,we also love her. lol...she is like superstar in Croatia. But there is a young guitar player who plays the instrument from age 4 and he made his first composition a year later.
Great Tommy Emmanuel took him as his student....sort of.
His name is Frano Živković so check him out

How fantastic Ana's playing is, her interpretation, etc., and such a nice person, I personally am not the biggest fan of the Jim Redgate, and in general lattice braced guitars. But how she tells about her guitar, it is not just the sound, playability, I agree totally that without the connection, it just doesn't work. And how she looks at the guitar, she is still in love with it... So, it is the right guitar for her, no doubt. Based on the guitars reviewed, the sound, I would go for the Michael Cadiz. But I have to hold it in my hands to be able to feel the connection. And as a lefty, that is the most challenging thing.
Just by listening to all the different guitars, and to the different players (concerts), it really helps to develop me to be a better guitarist, to help my "guitar" hearing.
To the entire team of Siccas Guitars, keep on going with the good work.
I'm looking forward to Ana's concert! A beautiful Christmas present.
