Fareed is one of those all too rare teachers who are able to break down even the most (seemingly) complex and deep of musical ideas and make them immediately accessible and usable. I cannot thank him enough for sharing his knowledge, music - and great sense of humor - with us.
I always knew about Fareed Haque being a fantastic player but this opened my eyes to what a great teacher he is. Love his energy and spirit. ...heading to TrueFire now. ;-)
Knowing that Fareed is a virtuoso and a master of world music, I started watching and became deeply interested in what he had to say. I’m a pianist not a guitarist but I learned so much from this recording. What I know now is he is an incredible teacher as well as a performer. Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you Fareed Haque you are amazing. So blessed to be able to have seen you play live so many times. Can’t wait till the pandemic is over so we can party again.
Wow, I'm blown away by Fareed's playing, knowledge and insight! From timing, to modal playing so much of this spoke to me and I wish I heard it 15 years ago, (I've been playing for over 35 years) who cares, I am super grateful I heard it now! Thanks Fareed and TrueFire!
It is due to his picking technique, particularly about the angle of the pick hitting the strings. It sounds very "staccato". That is very typical of players playing with a "pick heavy" approach, such as George Benson, Pat Martino...
Excellent vid! but..they dont "ALL struggle with up tempo playing" some do it like BREATHING :D EX. Martino, Benson, Dimeolo,Mclaughlin and so many others ;) absolute zero struggle.(even when they were just 18 and 19 yrs old ;p Great vid here..Awesome player!

مرحبا سيد فاريد، انا حضرتك مع جو زاوينول في مهرجان بحر الشمال لموسيقى الجاز العام 1995... كم كان عمرك حينها؟ انت كنت نجم الحفلة.

Hi from Malaysia
Excelente !!!
Hi from Tunisia! sounds great, technique but yet so melodic
Reminds me of Kenny Burrell a little bit
Notwithstanding wonderful playing - - The guitar sounds muted - is this due to the bridge?
