The variable compression engine is neither fast, efficient, or quiet. Then its fwd based too which only Lexus can get away with as a luxury brand in this segment.
I agree that CVTs don't have a place in luxury vehicles but FWD based vehicles are widely accepted in the luxury segment. Examples include Acura (ILX, TLX, RLX, RDX, MDX), Lexus as mentioned, Audi (A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q3, Q5, Q7), BMW (1 series, X1, 2 series, X2), Mercedes (A class, CLA, GLA), and more. I'm sorry to see everyone pressuring Nissan/Infiniti to dump the CVT but it's really a lot more reliable than a regular transmission as long as you take it to a mechanic that knows enough to add the special fluid that is required. It will tow more, get better gas mileage and last way longer. I wouldn't know what to even do with the regular 8 speed transmission these reviewers keep harping about on brands like BMW. Nissan has way better integrity than the other brands. I started having issues with my Honda pilot at 115,000 miles. Haven't had even a check engine light in the past 180,000 miles on my Nissan Pathfinder. But the biggest reason I'm sold is because the drive is far More natural than any others I've driven. I test drove the Nissan Xterra back in the day and the drive was superior to the Jeep Grand Cherokee we ended up buying. They should have made this RWD, turbocharged V6 engine from the Q50 redsport paired with the nine speed from the Frontier. It would probably sell better.

Looks like an attempt to copy the Italians from Alfa Stelvio in design. Anyone who is looking to get this might as well get the Stelvio instead too. Or the upcoming Genesis GV70. The price and loaded features at the base trim is something someone can appreciate. But, when GV70 is here, infinity will lose that too. Looks like Infinity can't make a future out of this. Infiniti has simply lost the plot. I'll take the Genesis GV70 3.5T please. Infiniti won't be around much longer and if they do make it, they will just be a Nissan+ dealer. Acura and now Lexus are waking back up and this is the best Infiniti can do for a new product?

Infiniti isn’t really trying in some aspects. They didn’t upgrade the power train or infotainment system or gauge cluster. Same exact interior design as the QX50.
Jeez, that infotainment system would look great on a 2014 car, but for 2020 that’s inexcusable, especially when there are similarly priced cars with far better interiors
I own an FX and when I heard they are going to make a "new" FX I thought they were going to put the same drive train from the Q60/Q50 but nope they gotta slap in the same economic transmission and some turbo 4 cylinder. I don't think INFINITI is going to last any longer. Most of their cars are ending up as rentals anyways.
I can't (or maybe don't want to) picture the person who spends somewhere in the $50k (or more) range for a 4 cylinder with a CVT. The safety tech should be standard for the range.
It is not all new especially inside. It’s an aging interior and infotainment center that’s in need of a major refresh. The backup camera resolution is horrible. Don’t know why Infiniti didn’t upgrade it when they made the QX50 into a coupe. The VC-T engine (for Variable Compression, Turbocharged) is so loud and they installed the problematic Jatco CVT transmission instead of the 9 speed automatic transmission. It’s no wonder sales are dropping year and year. For the same amount of money I’d rather purchase a Genesis GV70.
Wow the price is high after her telling us twice that the price was much less than the competitors. I suppose this QX55 is less but damn $57k for a for cylinder!!
Nissan really drove Infiniti to its grave. They let go of the luxury aspect and gave their brand more features that not even Infiniti offers. The fact that we’re seeing the same design set-up on the interior since the early 2010’s is atrocious. Not to mention the lack of tech- no display tach, no one-screen set-up, no innovation.
