$5,000 is about where I would have tapped out
Lot more than I would
It was a 900hp monster on cold summer tires being driven aggressively in the winter on cold roads. The wreck had nothing to do with the diff.
Never had an issue driving like that with cold tires and clutch type lsds or 80mph burnouts on the highway
@@Junkyard_Dave it looked to me like the left tire was the only one with power and that will most definitely throw the car to the right.
That pile of scrap and few parts that can be saved is worth $12,000 max in my opinion because thats what you could MAYBE get after parting it out. Not worth fixing.
The person who took that car on a test drive obviously was not capable of handling a car that powerful and that is the cause of the crash, regardless of any issues that the differential may have had or not had.
That diff is only for experienced drivers it sometimes will throw you over a full lane upgrading to an actual lsd is what every supra owner n3eds to do.
The tires and it being obviously cold out, I don't care how experienced you are, if there is no grip you are just along for the ride!
Citing "lsd diff issues" is laughable. Lsd in a supra acts just like any other lsd, the fact its in a supra means nothing. 2 wheels spinning in a powerful car with somebody behind the wheel that has no idea what they are doing.... it's a story as old as time....
You see this alot in America people wrecking in a straight line
fo sho
It's the 2nd time this car goes through auction, ScrapLife garage did a video about it (and he did bid on the car, the bidder from Maryland was him). Sooo the question is: Why the 1st time the buyer didn't take possession of it? Catastrophic hidden damage? Important parts missing? Or they didn't pay for it? Who knows!
Yeah my guess is the insurance was bidding it up and got stuck with it on 39k I think it's a 10% fee to not take a car you won
The fuel filler door is the only straight panel
Lol yeah
That thing is smoked, I’d be shocked if someone was able to get it back on the road. I also agree with you, I just don’t see where there could be 40k in parts there.
If it had a clean title it definitely could be fixed correctly but you'd have 100k in it
Trevor bought it ,he's gonna do a giveaway 😂
Exactly why I dropped his channel. I get that he needs to make money but it was way too over the top
love the content brother
Thanks
Expensive yard art.
tnx for the video
Thanks for watching
I remember this story. That's sad to see that Supra wrecked. Just have Dom Toretto and his crew work on it.
Wow that hurt to watch. I think I'd personally pass on rebuilding it. I get why someone would, but at what cost.
Besides some badges is there anything that makes it a "special edition" or different at all?
Hey Dave! Now that is a wreck! YIKES!!
Yes definitely I have seen multiple wreck similar to this
IMO not worth 40k to try and put it back together. Assuming it can be straightened out in the first place. Good luck to whoever bought it though.
I didn't see $1000 in parts
Oh wow, thats the famous one you , thats a hell of alot of work but rare none the less
It's a goner!
The only thing that is straight is the fact that it is BUSTED!
It's the Techs Fault, he's avoiding hitting another Vehicle in Front of him ! Joyriding Technicians : It's Not My Fault, there was a banana peel on the road ! Hey People have Built Burnt, flooded, Wrecked to Shreds Vehicle in bits and pieces, this is No Question !
This is why I'm the only person that drives my vehicles
I can't believe he survived that!!!!!! Normally that many rolls results in passenger ejection!!!!!
He did get ejected
I hope he can make a full recovery! Thanks for the intel. Have a Great TG Dave.
This car would decimate ALL after we put about $40k in it and if we have to...
overnight parts from a Hellcat.
Probably after 100k of parts
Ex wrecker here. I wouldn't of gone near this. Dave, you saved money passing up on it. The body's twisted to hell and not salvageable. Since I've owned a N14 Pulsar you should put that 20k you saved on the supra into the GTi-R. SR20VET + Evo drive train would be a nice conversion
I still need a core support for the gtir they are hard to find
The salvage title and the vin tags are all thats left of value.
But not $40k worth.
If the car could be started...maybe
Very true it would be nice if there was an under car picture
Dave, I wouldn't pay no more than 15k TOPS.
Yeah it's questionable
Where I live a mk4 Supra t 15y ed costs around 40k
Definitely going to have to overnight parts from Japan.
Lol
lol i would love to see this guys reaction when they told him n showed him the car is totalled beyond repair omg
I think anyone who bought it HAS to be doing content around it. Too interesting of a story not to, otherwise they stand to completely lose their ass on it if there's not much good under the hood and in the trans/diff department
I really hope tavarish got it
Dave, the Supra does nothing for me. A totaled Supra does even less. I am not as tall as you but isn't that car a little small for either of us? I would really and truly like to see you bring back a Mercedes to life from the years that they were good, 1985 and the like.
Dave, what do you think a Clean 36k mile FC rx7 is worth these days? I get soo much BS all over the place answers. Just looking for another.
If it's clean probably 15-20k non turbo 20 to 30k for a turbo maybe more
awesome, thanks man! it's really clean, I am second owner. No real plans on letting it go, I restored it and it runs great... non turbo@@Junkyard_Dave
TBH, F&F is the only reason in my mind Supras are so expensive. Yes, they are beautiful fast cars, but there are many other 90s cars that are just as good to drive if not better.
imagine paying 42 grand for a totalled out ball of scrap
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Poor Supra. Glad both individuals were ok and that no other innocent drivers were involved. I feel bad for the tech and the shop, this will be a huge black cloud over them. I can only imagine the legal troubles they have to deal with.
Yeah I am sure their insurance wasn't happy paying out 200k on the car
2jz's are crazy money but not that kinda crazy money, looks like the internals may be built so theres some bang for the buck. Diffs are the same as Lexus SC and GS so not much money there unless theres a 2way or TRD LSD inside. Aside from interior the taillights seem intact but they aren't pricey for a used set. V160s are some hefty money but guessing getting in total what is salvageable meets around over half what they paid for which jokingly would be as much as a clean "stockish" example back in like 2015 🙃
Looking at that crash most like the diff prolly no LSD or the axles broke... hope the parts are used for saving another supra
Dave you need to save this one not menny these left
Too far gone. Even if you thought there was a chance. Expensive lawn ornament.
Glad I got mine for 20K when they were still reasonably priced.
Yeah they will come back down
Looking back it was cheap, back then it was pricey.
Man, almost makes you wonder if someone close to the owner bought it. but not worth fixing. and like you said whats the parts value?
Tavarish has a few of these cars if he did get it most likely for parts not to rebuild.
If I recall correctly his Supra needs a engine and transmission.
I think the 15K-20K is on point. Even w/the mileage and being an Limited Edition like you said it's still salveage. Also, to me the only way its worth rebuilding is if the firewall and floor still measure out true to spec's. Otherwise, you've got to have deep pockets and you will not get what you put in back out of it.
Yeah it would have been cool to tear it apart though
Damn. I need the driver door panel and that rear seat, lol. Mines is an anniversary edition
I do not see the value in that. To me it looks like there are a few good bits and pieces but I do not think that it is worth trying to rebuild. BUT maybe it is another youtuber that might be able to make more from the videos and sponsors. I am glad that the Mechanic is okay and I do think that the shop is liable for the crash. I am not saying that it is the mechanics fault , just that the car was in their care and they did have an employee behind the wheel.
Yeah if you need to do a pull do it on the dyno if it was my shop I wouldn't do that
Yeah, that's absolutely insane. I mean that car was beyond repair at this point. The only thing that can be done is like what you said and try to salvage as many parts as possible. But even than, I don't think there was $40k worth of parts. Unless the engine, tranny, engine management, fuel system, and turbo kit was still intact. But definitely questionable with all those roles. You're best bet is to get an turbo auto, and swap out the entire drivetrain with a Grannas racing t56 magnum kit. It'll run you like around $15k with diff, drive shaft, axles, clutch and tranny with all the misc parts like the slave cylinder, pedals, lines, ect. I think an auto Turbo can be found around $60k. The 5spd NA, is just way too much work. You'll have too swap out everything, including the breaks, engine, and drivetrain. Pretty much You'll be buying just the body. But it is the cheapest.
That car can't be rebuilt, it can only be rebodied.
The engine internals are all that COULD be worth anything IMO
I can't see that a vehicle that wrecked could be worth what the buyer paid for it. As far as it being able to be repaired, yes, but it would not be financially viable. Interesting that it had a salvage title and not a parts title. Here in Australia, that Supra would have been a statutory write off, which equates to a parts title or certificate of destruction over there in the US. It will be interesting to know who bought it and what they are going to do with it. I'm sure you'll find out and keep us posted.
In the states the insurance adjusters have the power to do whatever they want I saw a supra with a damaged quarter with a cert of destruction when it was a simple fix there should be an overhaul of the insurance network
Right now it's just a branded title.... It will need to be inspected before issued a rebuilt and be able to get tags.
@@Junkyard_Dave Here in Australia, they total just about everything. A while back I saw a nice Honda Accord that had been hit in the back. It needed a quarter panel, trunk lid, rear bumper, etc and the left frame rail was slightly bent. It would have been an easy fix for a shop with a frame machine and the car was in excellent condition. A real waste as it was a statutory write-off, which is equivalent to a certificate of destruction
I wouldn't even waste money and time on this.
Man at most that engine and trans are well maybe you can sell some interior but nobody’s fixing that
It could be fixed if it had a clean title
That toyota needs to be parted. Its only sentimental value now.
Is it even worth 15K?
Definitely not for the average person
If you want just to make profit: No
But if you want it just for you i thinks it is worth it.
I always wanted a Supra but if this sold for 40K my dream may be over. I like the new supras maybe they come out with a beefier motor. Al thought the b58 has made 600+ ho those internals don’t look beefy enough to take the beating for long. 2jz internals look like their 2x the size compared to the b58
The prices will come back down
@@Junkyard_Dave I hope so. We should’ve imported them when they became legal. I was hearing stories of the turbo supra being imported for around 25K when the you were able to get a decent US turbo supra for 50K
Sadly I was like 16-17 at the time. But I’m happy with my dls he hellcat. I’m actually looking to move out into the country so I can become junkyard Alex
It shall be saved
Hope someone will save this unicorn.
It would be a good series
That Supra looks worse then the one Trevor pulled from a field
You mean the one both of us pulled from a field and yes it is worse that all three of the ones we had gotten
Not worth it, it is beyond acceptable repair.
Youl need a donor car
Not sure if there is 40k worth or stuff left on it
Yeah 20k was a stretch
NEXT!
What i have learned about cars totaled or not if you have deep enough pockets any things possible but honestly its to far gone atleast 80k plus and if the title isnt clean its a straight pass not worth the headache money time just looking at the pictures and videos its a loss
Not a Toyota fan by any means but they are valuable abd becoming more rare so....
Yes the more this kind of stuff happens the more rare they get
Save it
Freddie might've bought it for his white supra because it doesn't have an engine. Man the body itself is out of the equation .. it is more like a parts car.. 40k for it.. wow
Yeah idk it would be interesting to see if it pops back up
Very little to do with the LSD, you don't know what you're talking about. He boosted while changing lanes in the oily part of the lane where you wait for the light to change. What tires is he running? Have you seen how bad R888s are cold or in the wet? Literal slip and slide, not sure what hes running. That had more to do with it that an LSD dude.
I've driven multiple high hp supras 100% the diff
I thought tavarish might of brought it as he stripped hes white one to build hes friend a suprise supra as a gift
You should tell Trevor to buy it. He owes you a 2jz.......
I want one that isn't destroyed lol
I see maybe 15 to 20k in parts.
The engine if it's still good is worth the 40 grand
Just go buy a new Nissan z. They're 400hp twin Turbo and it's 52 grand and not Going to do anything butPolish it in the garage?
Vin swap, thats what i would do, get a Jspec supra do the damn thing.
SHIT!!!!! Did he live? Should it be saved? HELL NO! Wellll, maybe the drive train only.
He was ejected had minimal injuries from what was reported by the news
@@Junkyard_DaveEjecto seato cuz.
Maaaaaaan this is cake for @tavarish he’s turn this baby back to the monster it was and build it better
It was $55k new
Yeah lol
I understand its a supra but it was a big acident time to let it go.😢 but its my opinion.
Yeah I want to see if it pops back up
Not worth it. It's going to cost more than it's worth to restore it. It'll never get it original value back.
If it had a clean title it would be worth it
$40k haha, hope they have a million parts available! Spares for Supras are ridiculously expensive. I'm glad I've got 3 of them that aren't crashed and the lowest km 1A1 Anthracite I've got has 64000 km (Australia). They're hopefully my retirement fund one day :)
Help me find a driver door panel. Previous owner of mine must have loved slamming the seat belt latch in between the door panel and the seat.
It’s not worth $40k. Yhe value should be based on the parts that can be salvaged. Car csn be rebuilt by using a donor car & using most of the parts of it. But still it’s a lot of work. Chassis looks to be twisted.
That's the bad thing about the auctions plus I think from experience the insurance and the owners bid the cars up to get more money out of them
@@Junkyard_Dave For that amount the car might not sell. Not unless someone here in youtube needs a new content. That’s a viral car in the internet so rebuilding it might be a good video to watch. If a am to rebuild this car i’d import one in japan & use as a donor or maybe just transfer the parts off the wreck one.
@@michaeldecastro8262 it sold at 41k as long as it gets paid for
Who ever spent 40k on this is insane no way in hell is it worth that much not even close lol I sold my mint turbo in 2020 for 45k no way it’s worth 40k in that shape maybe 6/7k
Yeah it was definitely too high
Shit I mean I’d save it
Parts car 100%
It's gone
It's too far gone to waste time on it.
That thing is a goner
Jack will rebuild it, if that is a good decision is another story. I think the good parts should go onto a pristine frame. This frame is, of course, capable of saving, it is made of steel and that can be welded and bend. Too bad an inexperienced driver had to cause this, in such a speed wobble it is not easy to correct the car.
Yes very true
What frame? Best case scenario the engine long block and trans gets thrown in a complete pristine car needing a engine and transmission!
The suspension is fucked, front and rear, every body panel besides the fuel door is fucked! The carpet MIGHT be salvageable and SOME interior bits.
That's saying that even the engine and/or trans are not broken too. Looking at the car, I am not even confident either will!
The P1 was flooded and not a pretzel at the end! The Evo wasn't bad at all. Jack is a mad man, not a crack head!
What caused the wreck is an idiot that didnt know how to drive and did more than he could handle.
It was the diff but it was a combination of driving skill too a guy I know wrecked his TT in denver too was doing a pull over a crest the diff unlocked and threw him a lane over right into a barrier
its a ten second car...
Couldn't even push it across the finish line
That car is way too far gone
Not worth it
parts
Wouldn't touch it it looks bad!!!!
It's definitely bad th3 auction has gotten crazy
😂😂😂 saved?????
Just take the motor out
that car is scrap metal, not a single usable thing on it.
I'm sure there is some usable stuff but not much
A Supra is not designed to be a muscle car. It’s a Japanese eco box. In other words, “a wanna be”.
I mean them, RX7, and gtrs can run 7s so I would say they are fast
Garbage. Ah this point. Unfortunately
It isn't worth 5 thousand dollars
Waste
It's so sad to see a good chassie get messed up but you gotta learn to accept your Ls and start fresh
Na not worth it bruh
Dont buy it
Thats a really bad car , not even worth the space it takes.
Nope
