The reason for the cut out is that Japanese rear plates must be bolted to a non removable part of the car, then have a seal placed on one of the bolts. That applies to all white number plate passenger cars……reason seem to be so that people can’t swap or steal plates, road tolls and taxes here are horrendous.
Yep this is 100% right it was done to prevent swapping plates I don’t remember when they started it I I remember hearing about it because of how hard it was to be able to do bodywork because it’s a huge deal if the plate has been removed to get it put back on the same car
FYI the "easy pass" machine located on the side is a highway toll payment system (called an ETC). In Japan highways aren't free, so you insert your highway card into the slot and it automatically pays without you having to stop to pay manually. The Japanese lady's voice when you turned on the car is telling you the card isn't inserted.
The remote control was the thing back in the 90s. I had one for my Alpine/JP stereo system. Instead of leaning forward to hit the button, you had a remote typically left in the cup holder that can do everything the buttons did on the unit. Kinda of a safety feature when you didn't want to take your eyes off the road. The remote I had consisted of six buttons. Disc change, skip forward and reverse, volume, and a power off.

Jeez, for free? I wouldn't care what condition a Supra was in if it was for free x_x I've dreamt of owning that car even before Fast and Furious made it popular. 23+ years now
My Japanese (RHD) Imported (to Australia) Black 1993 (Series 1) MKIV Supra had an insert in the rear bumper covering some of that hole (not all of it though). The horizontal fins in the insert sat either side of the license plate when fitted. I would think that your 94 would also be series 1 as well. Mine was also 5 speed manual (SZ not the Twin Turbo RZ) with the cloth front seats, leather rear seats, no airbags (Tri spoke steering wheel and double glovebox) and a factory LSD (Rare I was told). It also had orange side indicators that I changed to clear (like yours). I removed the ashtray in the centre console and used that hole as my cup holder (Yes they're essential). I had it for 6 or 7 years before I was T-Boned in it. Unfortunately it never drove the same after the repairs so I sold it. I'd love another one but they're way too expensive now. I look forward to seeing how you go with yours. Brings back so many memories. Good luck! :)
The card slot nearby the pedals is for the ETC card. it allow to access the paid highway without need to stop for a ticket (yes I know, american people often miss that in many country you need to pay the highway). So, you sign a contract, get a ETC card, slot in, and then you can properly roam for the tokyo highway. Edit: the "female robot" told you that there is no card slotted in.
Radio remotes were a great tool for audio competitors in the 90s still are today but alot of folks now just extend their radios on long pigtails to outside the car cuz the levels of vibrations today's comp systems put off can mess with radios. Prs80s by pioneer are notorious for not liking bass levels in the 155dbs or highers at about 30 to 32hz or lower unless on an "enteral headunit" set up.
That gadget you put the card in is for ETC (electronic toll collection) for highway toll gates. The one voice in Japanese said you don't have an ETC card in the machine.
the gps screen isn't that someone damaged it or keyed it, its a common failure with LCDs where the polarization filter starts to break down. if you touch it, might be sticky even. That unit likely is really old and been sitting in some heat for a long time.
THE hole on the bumper is the same as why Japanese cars often have a flip up plate piece, in japan only special authorities can fit or remove the number plate, so mechanics or people working on the cars would have to remove the bumpers etc without touching the number plate, so you will find they flip up or have cut-outs to allow the number plate to stay on the car and still take the bumpers etc off.
This is actually a pretty cool car. That Panasonic Headunit MIGHT have some value to it. If I had to guess I'd assume that car was put together in the early 2000's.
The 'easy pass' thing is for toll roads. You pay a subscription and put a card in it. There's prob a little sensor on the windscreen. (My delica has one that talks to me in Japanese every time I start it. Got a Japanese friend to translate what it says... 'pay your subscription...')
There’s a square in the bumper so u can take the bumper off without having to take the number plate off cuz in Japan u can’t take it off without a special tool only specialists have it
I love those whote advan wheels, i had them on my r32gtr, you buy how u ised to build them before Jared showed you the error of your ways. Now get it rebuilt forged & boosted to a happy 550bhp and let a fan buy it

the remote is for when you're at car meets or car shows so you can operate the radio from outside the car.
In Europe we use to party in the parking after the discos shut down. The sound systems back then in some cars were crazy, The remote control was useful to control from the outside, I imagine same thing in Japan.
There is no bad FREE Supras brother. Good luck with the project
All the switches work tavarish! The first one is a smoke screen the second one is a oil slick the third one is a night version monitor and the forth one is a ejection seat! Geez Tavarish get it right next time! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when you misdiagnose switches! Lol 😂 lol haha 😂
Store Clerk: How many gauges would you like?
Previous owner of this Supra: *Yes*
they definitely went into up garage and went fucking nuts hahaha, doesnt even have boost. crazy
That model of Supra is fantastic... Whoever is getting that car is extremely lucky. Such a beautiful car.
In Japan there is special tamperproof heard where that hold the licence plates off and when the plate is mounted to the body in the rear there is generally a 10mm bolt that you undoubtedly flip the plate up and slide the bumper off over it
You should definitely keep the rear wing. Early 2000s vibes😂😂
Honestly it doesnt look bad on the supra
veilside, bomex and abflug are some of my favorite kit companies, they exaggerate the original style of the car and make it aggressive but with some finesse to it
Crazy how now were in the mid early 2000s😂😂
Supercool and entertaining to see you bring back cars that was at the brink of death. Like the Mclaren that most said that couldnt be fixed and you and Jared brought it back and made it even better.
Cant wait to see what will happen with the beaten up Supra :D
Used to dream about having one of these back in the 90's, just couldnt afford one then :P
had a Honda Civic CRX, 1986 year model, 125 bhp engine, was tons of fun (felt like it was super fast, but it wasnt :p), wanted the newer one 150/160 bhp with the VTec engine, again, couldnt afford one back then :(
@@willemp6432 that's funny because most of them are finished. He just takes longer to do it because he does a better job than most.
@@chriscollins550 not really, most of them are getting dust at the shop. The only cars they actually finish are the ones that have a especific event to attend to ( e.g Sema). Outside of that, cars have the simple purpose of getting revealed and getting views.
@@micaelantunes7055 that's untrue the last big build after the Mclaren he put up the full build in few long videos over few day's
Surely you mean McLaren.
@@berniebibo5445 lol, yep ;)
The Leather rear seats are oem and only the s2 supras had the cloth rear seats.
passenger side air bags didn't become required till 98. As for the remote for the radio. its was common on flip out radios of the day. They didn't have steering wheel controls, or touch screens yet. at its was the early 2000s.
Valvoline fully synthetic gear oil with limited slip additive included is one of my favorites at a great price, as is Valvoline full synthetic High Mileage oil with 'MaxLife Technology'. The MaxLife quiets down my three noisy lifters completely and makes the engine smoother on the highway, like a toughened, slippery barrier is jammed between all metal to metal points. (It did make the engine a bit harder to start I must warn)
Look, considering there are more than likely NOT "running-and-driving" AT ALL MkIVs asking $20k out there, this isn't bad.
That was a few years ago. Now the car in the video would bring over 40 as it is.
This would have been perfect for a future Car Trek! "The worst you can buy" When he said it was going to a "special Home" I thought maybe sold to Hoovie. "I bought the cheapest Supra in the U.S!"
I can not understand how on earth how this cars pass the Japanese version of MOT/inspections - in Japan you can fail an inspection just by having none shiny paint work
I think this was being auctioned off because it wasn't able to be registered in its current form.
I have those same wheels in my garage, Stillen AVS wheels, theyre quite light weight so I used them as my auto cross wheels for a 300zx tt I had years back. Still has good Kumho MXs on them, but no one wants them. Super duper cheap too, $500CAN is a steal for expired awesome rubber and oldschool name brand wheels.
I used to change my wheels at 5am before autocross every week, and change them back to Monza Autostradas with Falken 512s on them, after the day of autocross.
You got a steal my friend. What I'd give to have a Supra. I fell in love with car, as everyone else probably did watching FnF.
Good luck on the build broski, definitely gonna keep and eye out for more content on this.
Looking forward to seeing the color and the build!
The car is almost complete in his previous videos
Check the repair price list you can see it on a lift
I worked for a Japanese company and I was always told that the Japanese companies were all cutting edge technology. The company I worked for didn't even allow computers onsite until like 2000. I had to do a lot of Health and Safety reports to OSHA and the last reports were typed on an IBM Selectric. (That is a typewriter)! They were not high tech
at all.
Wasn't just a plain-vanilla typewriter. Big, hulking electric that used a rotating ball for typing instead of a row pf individual letters. Super advanced...... for 1965.
ill be honest. ive bought worse cars and been over the moon. Most of the bad bits are removable. fact is. its a Supra, rough or not, its worth atleast 20k even in that state right now.
That's exactly what I was about to say. Someone would have paid 20K and been happy about it.
you could prob get 40-50k easily for that supra
@@charlesrozell848 that body kit isn't even manufactured any more its worth WAY MORE
@@mentegrity101 There's a reason that body kit isn't manufactured any more.
@@xtnuser5338 that is?
The remote control, for the radio is important.
When changing the song at 100mph
Also holes are factory in rear bumpers to reduce drag and increase airflow if not it's like a giant sail attached to the back of your vehicle
The quick release bumper is instant added lightness. The Esprit(s) would approve.
I remember at one point, this guy said the white Supra is going to go to one of the viewers....
Will this one be the same? We shall see 👀
Let's remember his excuse "too dangerous to drive" 🤣 Let's hope this one won't be lol
This car needs a complete rebuild, but if the bones are good it's worth it, I think you should make it a channel project car and convert it to a left hand steering car. It's doesn't need to have a bunch of horse power in the end, but it would be really interesting to see a left hand drive conversion.
To each his own but why? RHD is what makes this build over the top. Making it LHD would make it just another Supra
It *is* just another Supra, only with the steering on the worst side for LHD/RHT roads. A conversion would be a huge improvement.
@@dclarke8872 Converting it would double the car's base value and I'm sure there are a lot of people thinking about buying cars from Japan or England, but not wanting to have the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car and are thinking about what it would take to put it on the correct side.
@@StorKejsaren on the opposite, it would drop its value and probably be illegal. JDM cars don't have VIN numbers, what are you gonna do about it? I wouldn't want a butchered car with God knows how many corners cut during such conversion.
@@yuris6125 It's not illegal if it passes MOT, at least not in Europe, where LHD JDM cars always fetch at least twice the price of a RHD. In some countries you're not even allowed to drive RHD cars in traffic so not converting it would be illegal 😅
The remotes for radios are for when ur at car meet and ur a bit from ur vehicle and wanna turn your music up alot of guys would keep em in thier shirt pockets look cool flippin it out amd turnin up or changing ur radio
The reason the radio has a remote is for when ur outside of the car and playing music and want to skip a song or turn the volume up or down. For example if u and the boys r playing some ball and want some music while ur playing.
Well at least the starter works well. It's always fun to see you get involved with terrible cars. It makes the rest of us feel like we've made much better choices in buying the vehicles that we did.

Once it’s a Supra it’s a HUGE win especially for free 😩
The plate is cut out because the license plate mounts to the chassis in Japan. So that way they can take the bumper off without removing the plate.
Super strict laws about plates staying on the vehicle at all times
Those grey sections off the front bumper look like the ones off of a second generation swift sport.
I have been watching you for years and really enjoy your videos but lately your videos have been a lot of talking and chatting about things way to much about nonsense and not a lot of building it better it’s a shame because your builds are great to watch please don’t take this as bad I think it’s time to build some thing ☺️
Jeez, for free? I wouldn't care what condition a Supra was in if it was for free x_x I've dreamt of owning that car even before Fast and Furious made it popular. 23+ years now
I can’t believe you got it for free !
The og owner out here just watching you roast their old car lol
Tavarish your great! But your channel needs a little more focus. Content is everywhere lately. Just an honest comment. You got this!
I'll give you a like. However, I have almost 0 confidence in you actually completing this project.
The remote is for tail gating, camping, kicking it with the homies, bumping the tunes big chillin 😎
I totally forgot about this build until it showed up in SEMA and other RUclipsrs channels.
I really hope Jared gets this car.
The little box next to your left leg is the ETC card machine. It’s used to pay highway tolls
10:22 is so true. The remote for my touch screen stereo has been in the glovebox since day 1
The Switch near the ignition is for a locking up sound whenever u use the remote control
seems like a perfect time to do a twin turbo 6g75 build... or even an all motor 6g75 tuned for some spicy fuel.
Yo Tavarish. Man I've been following your channel since you only had 20k subs. Great to see you crushing it bro.
This is actually a pretty cool car. That Panasonic Headunit MIGHT have some value to it. If I had to guess I'd assume that car was put together in the early 2000's.
@Tavarish
The point of a remote for the radio is to control it, while standing outside the car, at things like car shows.
The 'easy pass' thing is for toll roads. You pay a subscription and put a card in it. There's prob a little sensor on the windscreen. (My delica has one that talks to me in Japanese every time I start it. Got a Japanese friend to translate what it says... 'pay your subscription...')
There’s a square in the bumper so u can take the bumper off without having to take the number plate off cuz in Japan u can’t take it off without a special tool only specialists have it
13:45 as he was putting the battery in I swear I heard some omnious scary music being played in the background lol
I love those whote advan wheels, i had them on my r32gtr, you buy how u ised to build them before Jared showed you the error of your ways.
Now get it rebuilt forged & boosted to a happy 550bhp and let a fan buy it
