Im from the UK and about Hammonds age and i'm all for what you're doing to the P1. You got a car that should've been scrap and brought it back to life, it's never going to be original after all that damage.

Yeah nix the thing that made it unique and turn it into a 720SS The Stanceworks F40 is doing an actual rebuild and potential improvement, and I’m following that as opposed to this. The P1 is dead and it’s turned into something else entirely and not an improvement
Richard is referring to the transition. An ICE had a non linear power band. The electric motor is there to smoothen out that inconsistency@@StreetPreacherr
@@jd_99 Then again, if McLaren could have made a car that actually went over 250mph at the time, they would have avoided the hybrid system. WHY they used it was because the massive turbo lag and boost was (already) resulting in an undriveable car and needed something to smooth it all out and be more refined. This wasn't just because they wanted to showcase new hybrid technology. Not really. I think this will be the biggest challenge. This is very much how a Ford Mustang Cobra Jet is absolutely a Mustang, but it's impossible to drive on normal roads, even if it was street legal. It's just not sane to put 1500+ HP into a vehicle like this and expect it to not end up sideways. What we have here is basically a drag strip car.
BEFORE you let Richard drive it. Please do your speed run, break the records, take photo's and video, pick up your dry cleaning, let Ed drive it, stop by Hoovies, drop your Meemaw off at the airport with it and once your tired of the car THEN you can let Hammond drive it. His track record with super fast cars is sketchy at best!
Jay CLEARLY affirms that "The thing that MAKES it a P1 is the HYBRID SYSTEM (23:43)". Jay responded by affirming that it's OK to alter or change or personalize a car. But, by NO means did he say anything that supports your assertion that you're going to be achieving your goals with a genuine P1.
Yep. Freddie is going to die on that hill saying it's a P1. It's no longer got the trick hybrid torquefill setup, it's no longer got the trick suspension.. It's enough to say that Hammond is correct.. It's gonna be a great project when it's done.. But it's not a P1.
@@AyaxRo Exactly, that's all Hammond is saying. He's saying, fantastic McLaren, just don't claim these records you're breaking are from having used a P1.
I agree with Richard. It won't be a P1. It will be a P1 based custom car. But you're changing so much from factory, that its not a P1 anymore. If you went the other way, full electric, it also wouldn't be a P1. It would be a P1 based custom electric car. With also custom panels etc.
I'm a guy from Birmingham....Richards home town. We loved the fact Richard created a career from his humble roots and became successful......(men and motors).....(TopGear) But how dare he criticise a fellow journalist/content creator. Just because he has gained success on the BBC! THE BALLS ITS TAKES TO DO WHAT FREDDIE HAS..... And then.....make content revolving around a rover 75 and a clapped out jaguar xk.... Yawn........ Good luck big fella, I'm hooked and love the genuine feel and passion you show on your channel!
Criticizing cars is literally what made Clarkson, Hammond, and May who and what they are today... The landscape has changed but they're still here to do the same job they've been doing, being critical. So it makes sense to move to RUclips and crazy builds. But the great thing about Hammond is he will gladly eat his words just like Jay if Freddy truly succeeds in the way he and we all hope he does. But until then, it's all good fun and a bunch of gear (and/or petrol) heads doing what we do best, busting nuts 🤷♂️
Hammond has too many knocks on the head, his opinions are as dull as his own channel, repairs East European bangers, the limit of his skill's. Virtually forgotten in the UK. Relax Freddie.
It has always been their shtick to trash on modified cars and lots of normal ones as well. Hammond, May and Clarkson for the most part preferred unmodified cars. Guess they always have been purists in that sense. So take their insults with a grain of salt, even if it comes out highly opinionated.
Amen 🙏 I loved Top Gear, but times are changing. I'm glad you're able to adapt and aren't biased by your nationality or where you came from. Freddy isn't perfect and he doesn't pretend to be. Richard is riding on his past succes, but stay in your lane if you have never worked on cars and either/ or tried to improve something. To me Freddy and Jay are true car enthusiasts. This other guy got totally cooked by them 🤣
Richard nailed it. He's completely right. A tuned, turboed V8 might be faster than a stock P1, but it will always be short the 180 hp instant electric torque down low, so it will never be the best P1. It might have the highest top speed, but it will lack the feel of a P1. Could've used a fox body mustang to achieve the same result.
The point is that he's using the bones of a flooded and partially destroyed P1 to build off of, which as far as I know, nobody else has ever done. It's a unique project, at the very least, which is what he's going for. Frankly, I think the final result will be epic. All the people slagging the car off would probably be "ooing and aaing" if they saw the final product in person (even more if they drove it).
@CaseyCollier that's what Richard and Jay both said. It will be a beautiful, fast, P1 shaped car, and I would never begrudge someone to modify a car however they want. But the essence of the P1 (again, as both Jay and Richard mentioned) is the hybrid system. So while the title will say P1, it will have lost what made it a P1
@@jonnybroomhead Eh... that argument doesn't exactly pass the smell test. If you swap the engine out of an MX5 and install a widebody on it, is it still an MX5? Yes, I'd argue that it is. You could say it's an "MX5 with a different engine," but the fact of the matter is that it's still an MX5, at the end of the day. So too could you say that about a McLaren P1 and its hybrid drivetrain. Freddy's car will still be a McLaren P1, just with a different engine (still a McLaren engine, by the way) and body.
@CaseyCollier it's about the essence of the car. If you lift a Miata, put a giant V8 in it, and put big tires, I'd argue it's not a Miata any more. The hybrid system is what gave the P1 it's identity. Like putting a twin turboed V6 in a Lamborghini Aventador. The v12 is what makes it what it is
@@jonnybroomhead The difference being that a V6 is quite a noticeable change in performance, sound, and experience from a V12. I'd argue an older hybrid, turbocharged V8 versus a newer turbocharged V8 from the same manufacturer with way less turbo lag and more horsepower will feel relatively similar. I can almost guarantee you that they'll sound very similar, too. At that point, then, what exactly is so different about the "essence" of both cars? To me, that seems like some kind of vague and subjective cop out.
I like you more, but I agree with Hammond. The powertrain absolutely was the leading unique feature of the car. Imagine doing this to a 918? I want you to do whatever the hell you want, but from a personal taste perspective, I reluctantly side with Hammond. Btw, you probably _would_ get the most views with the Cummins swap lol. So I don't exactly think either of us have the popular opinion.
To each their own. I love what Freddy is doing for thinking outside the box. I love this project and maybe the haters' tears even more 🤣 This is his car.. his decision.. his channel.. his life. I'm happy to see all of these negative reactions. The haters still watching and pushing the algorithm. I'm rooting for Freddy 😏🙏
Hammond is correct, it won’t be a P1. McLaren took a piece of economy technology and weaponised it to maximise acceleration, it’s a core if not the defining part of the character of the car. Watch Chris Harris review of the P1. However Freddy is also correct to do what he is doing in making a P1+++, spending 300-400k to repair the hybrid system would be nuts. I would do exactly what Freddy’s doing with one exception I wouldn’t call it a GTR since they actually exist maybe the P1 RSR or do a Pagani and call it the P1 FH (see Zonda LH for those that don’t know)
Richards point is that the electric motor works with the turbo to provide a seamless fat torque from almost 0 rev. To throw that away means you get nothing and then a sudden big surge of torque. Yes i know, turbo tech has since jumps hoops and can provide almost instant torque and big power at the top. But almost is never the same as instantaneous and that get worst with bigger turbo. Maybe the extra bump in the CC will help covers it and match the EV fat torque. Dont know till it's built and tested to see if it has the same savagery and fear the moment you punch the throttle. But of course EV will not help if Tavarish main objective is to break that 250mph, Brute HP will help and that is where he is heading i suppose. At the end of the day, It's his car, he can dem well slam and camber it to the moon if the wants to (which he is resurrecting back a P1 that is already lost, so no gain no lost).
Yep, spot on, I imagine the power delivery and experience will be very different, which is where Hammond is coming from. I think he does raise some 'logical' points to be fair, but what Freddie is doing isn't logical, it's going to be a unique miracle when that car gets back on the road. Is it going to be as 'special' as a mint OEM P1, no, probably not, but it'll be special in its own way. I wonder if there were other considerations, such as the cost/difficulty of obtaining and fitting a new hybrid drive train?
I remember, as I’m sure you do, when you first announced your plan for ditching the hybrid system. The comments were overwhelmingly negative and in line with exactly what Richard was saying in this video. However you have really changed your viewers minds because the comments now are overwhelmingly positive. Your car, your choice. Car culture requires diversity of tastes to continue evolving.
Don't let Richard's comment get to you. People who own P1 wouldn't DARE to modify it like yours. Your P1 is gonna be really special. I love things when its unique and one of a kind.
When the biggest car guy agrees with the comments that tavarish and his friends got mad at for saying ditching the hybrid system was bad. Also Jay Leno says "The thing that MAKES it a P1 is the HYBRID SYSTEM (23:43)"
Tavarish is a young man with vision, knowledge and lots of passion for cars. As far as I know he is the only person who dares to restore and modify a salt water damaged McLaren in the entire world. This alone takes so much courage. Who knows, maybe in 10-15 years Tavarish Mc Larens will be the thing like what is AMG to Mercedes.
Hammond isn’t gonna let you live this down 😂😂 But real talk, he wouldn’t care about it if he didn’t roast it (though he’d never say it lol). The fact it appeared in one of his videos as a highly anticipated project car shows that you have his attention is a good way 👍🏾
Love the project but personally I don't really see it as P1 anymore, I see it more indeed like LS swapping a Ferrari, it is not an Ferrari anymore - an engine is the heart of a car and if you change that, you change the car. It is a P1 shaped object. But that definitely doesn't lessen the coolness of the project. ❤
I’m a Brit and I love what you’re doing. Richard Hammond is a bit old now and is into restoring classic cars. He’s never been one to modify or improve them.
Clear misunderstanding here, culture difference is plain to see. Richard isn't serious and let's be honest he doesn't care what you do with the car. The video is bait as it was designed to be and taking it literally is a bit over the top.
Huh? Richard's opinion that this "isn't a p1" is pretty clear. Sure there's some theater, but that doesn't change his position and the fact that it was that position he decided to publicly push.
@fj06carnone exactly my point, he will say what he has to say to get a reaction and clearly has. Do you think he has an actual thought about his project or cares? He's following a script that was planned and it's comical it's been taken literally. Look at some of the comments almost sympathising with freddy like he's been roasted, It's laughable. What I don't like is this video has gained some unfavourable comments and made people give Richard a bit of hate for literally making a soft trigger video.
FGS, don't let that 60's Dj Hammond anywhere near your P1 - He doesn't have a good record for bringing fast cars back on four wheels - it's normally via crane and recovery trucks.
If you had taken a perfect P1 and modified it I would be on Hammond's side, it's a rare thing and should not be modified. But yours was beyond saving so doing what you are to it is absolutely fine and gives it a second life.
8:23 I like how he can say all these other things are the reason it is the P1 yet for some reason the literal hybrid system isn"t? Did it not contribute to all those things that you just said? What makes it lesser than those things you said? Bro is just picking and choosing what makes it the P1 when the WHOLE thing as a WHOLE makes it the P1, hybrid system included. As Jay Leno once said (in this video) - "The thing that MAKES it a P1 is the HYBRID SYSTEM (23:43)"
Hammond is right that it's not a P1 anymore, in the same way a Lanzante P1 LM is not really a P1. That's not a bad thing, it's a just a different thing
Man I feel like I can listen to you and Jay Leno talk about cars for many hours. Haha I noticed Freddie’s brief “holy shit!” reaction when Jay friggin Leno said “oh ya I saw that…” meaning THE JAY LENO is watching your videos. That must be an amazing feeling.
5:09 I have to agree with Hammond. It's no longer a P1 when you take away a huge identifying feature such as the hybrid system. Even Jay Leno basically asserted to this here 23:43 That's fine, it's your car, you can do what you want with it for views and to save money. But it's not a P1 anymore. And as far as seeing McLaren doesn't know how to build a reliable engine, let's not go there with the rods, you had a modified engine with that 675LT that was overboosted. McLaren may have trouble with trim pieces, body panels, and electronics, but, their engines are pretty stout when left alone. I've owned five, experience just about every problem under the sun with the cars, but the engines just don't blow up like that. Nearly every instance of a McLaren engine blowing up on RUclips has been due to the owner modifying things or letting the oil get dangerously low. You want to build a 1000hp motor and put it into a McLaren body, that's great. But reliability is going to go down even further the more you boost it, regardless of what you do to it, because it's not just the engine you have to fortify. It's the entire drivetrain, and it wasn't designed for what you're doing.
Freddy, its just Hammonds opinion, and yes we love the trio and their opinions but everyones is different. I am on your side on this, i love this idea, making an already unique car even more unique. Plus it's YOUR car 😂. And yes he had to think of 'bad' things to say about your car because it was a roast. He struggled to roast a Subaru in the same video and we all know how much he loves a Subaru😂
Hi Freddy. It's your car, your P1, you can do what ever you want to it. Keep doing what you're doing. Who cares what others' opinions are, even Hams opinion. It doesn't count for much. You're doing some stuff that most can only dream about. Keep going, Freddy, keep going. 👌👌👌
I don’t recall anyone slating the Audi Quattro or Peugeot 250 when they tuned them for rallying! They were world beaters. You crack on Freddie, can’t wait to you finish and reveal the P1 Evo, Hammy will eat his words👍
Imho, neither Richard nor Freddy is right or wrong, it's just a different perspective on rebuilding a car. As far as I know it's much easier to drive a modified car in the US than in Europe, in fact engine swaps aren't even allowed in my country, but I'm not sure what the rules are in the UK. Maybe that's a reason why Richard is roasting Freddys P1. I love the project and look forward to the finished build!
Your first comment was right about it being a UK/USA thing, Here in the UK, we can admire the engineering ambition behind what your doing, and if you listen carefully I think you'll see that, in a Brit way, Richard is doing so. Over here however, with a few exceptions, we see major concept modifications to a "Classic" car almost as sacrilege. Even just a few tweaks to a spec can attract criticism as our tendency is to put a premium on "Originality", warts and all. For example, we might be entertained on TV by a Chip Foose creation, and admire his design flair and skill, but he'd struggle to make a living over here. Commercially, what you're doing could possibly knock 75%+ off the car's value in our market, no matter how successful you are in achieving your goal. You know your market though, and whilst you don't intend to sell, I don't think you'd want to devalue the car. So I guess you're probably right for the USA, and Richard's right for the UK. I bet he'd love to have the opportunity to drive it, but it won't change his view😀
You have to remember 2 things. 1 - Hammond is old, stuck in his ways and primarily deals with classic cars. 2 - Hammond gets other people to do all the work on his cars so he's achieved very little in this area. He is just a car critic.
No lie, I hated the idea at first. The reason the P1 is held in such high regard is that it's basically the OG halo hybrid supercar. It's a piece of history. I understand exactly what Richard was saying, and to some extent, I agree. I really wanted to see this build be an 11/10th hybrid. something different than the normal. You've gotten me coming around to the idea. you're not restoring it, you're doing a resto-mod. But that's okay. The flood ruined the car, and _anyone_ else who bought the car was not going to respect it like you are. It's going to be an amazing piece of engineering when you're done with it. It is still quite boring though and I just skip to the highlights. It's just any other modded super car at this point. Like you said, it's just another Mclaren but a one off. I don't hate it, but i also don't really care anymore. You cleaned the flood and the soul out, and are breathing life into your own creation. It is still a halo project for any car guy and my only criticism is the content around the project. It's getting long in the tooth at this point
I understand everything you've said, and I agree with most of it. My only critique would be that this project will inevitably take a long amount of time. His team had to rebuild the entire wiring loom from scratch, for Christ's sake. There's no way he could have built this car within a year with the team that he has, let alone 6-8 months like some people have suggested. I'd prefer a somewhat regular spread of uploads throughout the year that update us on the progress he's made rather than having two or three videos per year.
@CaseyCollier I came across poorly, I was more referring to the content itself, 1h+ runtime and it gets really into the weeds sometimes. It works for Rob Dahm because he's either doing something completely wild or new. I guess I'm not invested in everything tedious in supercar rebuild #67. There's nothing different than his last rebuild. Everything he's doing could be done on any other McLaren. He's going to give us an hour episode on what leather he's deciding between at this rate
Well, @RichRebuilds said about the V8-Tesla something like: What whas the state when i started? A non driving car. And what is it now it is finnished? Only you have to fix that last part 😋
I‘m mostly on your side Freddy, but what Mr. Hammond said has a lot of truth in it. Example: Get an old VW Scirocco and „improve“ the old combustion drivetrain with one out of a Rimac. Do you now have the fastest Scirocco? Perhaps. But ist it still an Scirocco ?!? I think, technically, if its still the same chassis number you can call it so. Its that british to save all the history and that american thing to slap a more than overpowered V8 in everything weldable, I guess. :-D Personally I think that the soul of a car is in its engineering and its history. So in my eyes Richard is totally right. (But I’m looking curious to this project and more than respect and recognition for what you are capable of achieving with this car)
Here's my 2 cents worth..... You were the 'only?' one to have the guts to take on this restoration. By now this car would be a pile of aluminium and copper oxide in the wrong hands. There's every chance the hybrid system wouldn't of worked either in the short or long term so the idea of removing and simplifying the car makes the most sense. It works well to do what it does...just not after being submerged and from a sustainability perspective, we've seen just how short the battery life is and how expensive it is to replace them. I wonder if McLaren could have used super capacitors to achieve the same outcome?? Yes, a P1 is a P1 because of the sum total of its parts but what your are keeping is 85-90% of what makes it brilliant. That is the chassis, suspension, brakes and the engine which we have all seen as not being able to handle it's own power because of the toothpick con rods. It's going to be a car that will remind people why the F1 was so good and why this 'P1 Evo' follows more accurately in its footsteps.
Look, I respect Richard Hammond, just like half the planet I grew up watching Top Gear and laughing at his questionable survival instincts. But with what he said about your P1? Oh boy, he’s not just wrong; he’s wandering so far off track he might need Waze to find his way back to reality. Freddy, what you’re doing is nothing short of legendary. Honestly, not many people have the guts or the brains to tackle this, and clearly, Hammond’s toolkit is missing a few wrenches in that department. The fact that he even mentioned it? That’s proof you’re onto something huge. When this P1 is done, it won’t just be the best P1 on Earth-it’ll be so good, Hammond might actually need a bib to catch the drool. Keep crushing it !
I love the project and I'm super excited to see it completed. But there's a difference between a restoration and modification. They are two very different visions. And it's not "being British" that dictates it. There's plenty of guys who mod in the UK. But there is a difference between putting a wrap and adjustable springs on a car and changing the engine, the loom, the body and a key element of the drivetrain that makes it stand out from any other car on the road. You advertised the P1 initially as a restoration. Understandably that changed. It's a cool new vision and we're excited to see how it goes. I do however think Hammonds comments are fair. It's no longer a P1. Only McLaren can decide what constitutes a P1 (just like only an American can decide what the US constitution should say 😝) That's not because they were trying to hold back in any way. They just sat in a design room with a vision. The choices they made created a unique car and should be respected. It's what makes a P1 a P1 and an Enzo an Enzo. This in no way disrespects what you're doing Freddie. It's awesome and I love it. ❤
Freddy ask Richard how many hyper cars he has brought back from the dead? Ask him how many supercars he has built or how many cars are in general. Keep up the good work, and the English pompas ass can kick rocks.
I think you're both right. It is P1 and it is not P1 - depends how you look at it. Removing main characteristic of P1, which is hybrid drivetrain is kinda big change for him to make such point.
He was saying Americans created the constitution because they were trying to improve upon the conditions given to them by the English. Great listening comprehension on your part, making us Americans proud.
You overpaid for a salvage car and underestimated the cost and complexity to make it running then you devalue the car further by modifying it which defeated the whole purpose to overpaid for a genuine P1. Hope the youtube revenues will subsidize all of this.
@@2varish Yet you paid $600k for it so once you deviate from true P1 specs the value will all be lost. Imagine what new car $600k buys you. I get it, you can earn content revenues from it and I applaud you for that since I followed you from early days with your gallardo twin turbo build. But to push back at correct criticism from Hammond I find misplaced. If you wanted to build the world's fastest mclaren a different starting point would had been wiser.
To me, it will always be Freddy's yellow submarine. It's the McLaren U-boat. If Freddy starts dating a 304, he should change his name to Joel Goodson. But above all that, we all can't wait to see it run and be complete.
I think this project is VERY cool, Im a subscriber and Ill watch every video, buuuttttt....... Hes not wrong in the comments he made. You are not restoring with the "Hybrid assist" which makes it the P1 McLaren designed, you are actually Hot Rodding a P1 chassis. Its cool either way, but Hammond is not wrong. Dont let this get you puffed up, its awesome hes even talking about it and its not something I would have made a big deal about. The continuous push back could be negative. An internet video battle is very unnecesary especially with Richard Hammond, one of the 3 most legendary car journalist/reviewers "IN THE WORLD". Just build the car you want to build, its your car.
Yeah, stop by Hoovies so you can drive his Veyron.

Best option doesn’t mean it is better than the hybrid system
Technically, it’s a P1 legally, as long as the firewall and VIN are intact.

@@DominicRuiz23let's put a wrap on it and stop calling it a P1 🤡🤡.
Lol poor freddy imagine having your idol shit all over your idea😢 i think hes wrong too i cant wait to see this car smash the speed record
I agree with Richard. It won't be a P1. It will be a P1 based custom car. But you're changing so much from factory, that its not a P1 anymore. If you went the other way, full electric, it also wouldn't be a P1. It would be a P1 based custom electric car. With also custom panels etc.
Exactly!!! Just like how a Civic with an exhaust, is no longer a Civic. 🤡🤡🤡
I think the cars McLaren P1 build number would say otherwise - yes its modified, but it will always be a P1.. all day, everyday.
I'm a guy from Birmingham....Richards home town.
We loved the fact Richard created a career from his humble roots and became successful......(men and motors).....(TopGear)
But how dare he criticise a fellow journalist/content creator.
From a Brit Freddie, ignore what that tiny idiot Hammond says, he's an idiot for sure, he has a death wish, don't let him drive the P1 Evo - ever!
This other guy got totally cooked by them 🤣
It’s not a P1 Mclaren, it will be a Tavarish Mclaren
McLarish
McVarish
@@jonnybroomhead
Eh... that argument doesn't exactly pass the smell test.
The v12 is what makes it what it is
@@jonnybroomhead
The difference being that a V6 is quite a noticeable change in performance, sound, and experience from a V12.
Hate to tell you Tavarish, but those thumbnails are what you always look like to all of us :-)
Hammond is correct, it won’t be a P1.
I would do exactly what Freddy’s doing with one exception I wouldn’t call it a GTR since they actually exist maybe the P1 RSR or do a Pagani and call it the P1 FH (see Zonda LH for those that don’t know)
Oh this will be fun. I always like Richard Hammond, thought we lost him when he wrecked that Rimac… that was bad…
i'll spare you the wait. he's not in this video
True players monetize their haters. Well played, Freddy. Well played.
This is called a “roast” for a reason. Most of their roasts are way too nice. The whole point is to be negative…
Glad to the the Godfather of Car Collections on the show, Thanks Jay❤. Get better soon!!!
I hope Jay Leno is feeling better after his excursion down a 20m drop. He's a different shade atm. Hilux tough it seems.
Ignore Richard. He is just scared of any hypercars that make big power…

1:17 "Touch me Richard" 🤣🤣🤣
Hammond isn’t gonna let you live this down 😂😂
But real talk, he wouldn’t care about it if he didn’t roast it (though he’d never say it lol). The fact it appeared in one of his videos as a highly anticipated project car shows that you have his attention is a good way 👍🏾
True. The fact that he knows so much about what Freddie is doing with his P1 means that Hammond is probably following the build.
“high water mark” 8:34 😂 pun intended?
Did not go unnoticed😂
Clear misunderstanding here, culture difference is plain to see. Richard isn't serious and let's be honest he doesn't care what you do with the car. The video is bait as it was designed to be and taking it literally is a bit over the top.
Spot on - we are a weird bunch us Brits 😂 -shhh dont tell anyone but I actually respect your opinion more than his these days 👍
I think you did a good thing by getting rid of all the b s on that car. I wish I could do the same thing to my MKT.
FGS, don't let that 60's Dj Hammond anywhere near your P1 - He doesn't have a good record for bringing fast cars back on four wheels - it's normally via crane and recovery trucks.
Richard is only doing this for his views. Keep it up Freddy
You got this Freddy! Richard needs to stay in his lane and also needs to get with the times…
Totally agree mate
If you had taken a perfect P1 and modified it I would be on Hammond's side, it's a rare thing and should not be modified. But yours was beyond saving so doing what you are to it is absolutely fine and gives it a second life.
It's a mclaren chassis, mclaren body, mclaren engine, mclaren gearbox.

Don't let him drive it. It most likely will end up crashed and him in the hospital .
You did so well with the P1 ditchin the battery pack. Just finish it. Make it running and driving.
Spot on

Don’t loose any sleep over it. We all know it still is a P1.
Agreed 😍
Don't let other people's thoughts or points of view affect your ideas or goals.

A Toyata Yaris is still a Toyota Yaris, whether it's the Hybrid, Diesel or GR version..
He'll come around when it's fully built
Imho, neither Richard nor Freddy is right or wrong, it's just a different perspective on rebuilding a car. As far as I know it's much easier to drive a modified car in the US than in Europe, in fact engine swaps aren't even allowed in my country, but I'm not sure what the rules are in the UK. Maybe that's a reason why Richard is roasting Freddys P1. I love the project and look forward to the finished build!
Great work Tavarish👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Even jay leno disagreed with him and said the drive system is the essence of a P1. Basically agreeing with Hammond that it's not a P1 without it!!!
Hammond isn't anywhere near as funny when he doesn't have a team of scriptwriters behind him
Leno: "Just don't rev a McLaren when it's cold!"
Freddy: yeah....
It's just a P1 bodyshell with a different Engine.. it's no longer a P1..
Search for Top Gear Parody as that sketch says everything about how people in the UK perceive Hammond and the other two boomers.
Well, @RichRebuilds said about the V8-Tesla something like: What whas the state when i started? A non driving car. And what is it now it is finnished? Only you have to fix that last part 😋
I love Richard, but there's no better time for Clarkson to pop up and scream at him "Hammond! You blithering idiot!"
And Captain Slow looks confused and says "What??"
I don't believe Jay Leno fell off a cliff. I don't buy it one bit.
No hate.
Personally I think that the soul of a car is in its engineering and its history. So in my eyes Richard is totally right. (But I’m looking curious to this project and more than respect and recognition for what you are capable of achieving with this car)
Can’t roast something that’s perfect
so dumb
It’s the chassis, the model. Not the engine that gives a car the name
ok now put a prius engine in it and say that again
@@DominicRuiz23if i take the P1 engine and put it in a Mustang then it'll become a P1?
@ no if you take a p1 and put a p1 engine and hybrid system in it then you have a p1 because it has all the components
