Hi Ginger!👋 So sorry to hear about your health issues. We understand about being nervous but get back there to figure out what’s going on and what to do to fix it!! We will be thinking about you and praying for you! We hope we can help keep your mind off of things!! Take care and keep us posted!!♥️🙏♥️
Laverne, the buff salmon looking hen with a beard is a Salmon Faverolles...they are the sweetest breeds of birds I've raised, love them! Black hen looks like an Easter Egger, and the buff with white tail is a Gold sex link OR Golden Comet hen. Good looking girls! I love your run netting set up!
Hi Robin! We were told Laverne was a Salmon Faverolles. She is so sweet and very easy going. They did think Betty (the black one) was an Easter Egger. We did not know what Shirley was. They are all sweethearts!! Although I’m only getting different shades of brown/cream colored eggs. We hope the netting keeps everyone safe while they are out! 😊
Morning Mainers, I love the Chicken Run and the chickens for sure!! Can’t wait to see your next work!!
Thank you Judith!! We appreciate your support!!♥️
Woot, woot! Great job solving problems! Cluck! I’m freezing my buttocks off down here today. Supposed to be warm tomorrow. I have to pull some weeds out of my garden and put the straw down!
Hi Donna! Thanks!! It was pretty chilly here today and now it’s raining. Need to get out in the garden and get things prepped! That will be our next project!!
We were able to set the blocks for our foundation this past weekend. We just have them set in place. We will be setting them up with cement this next weekend. Then we can start on the fun part, the building.
Thank you for sharing your ideas and the stuff you rethink because of what you have learned. It helps those of us who are not exploring these things yet, to decide a best course of action.
We look forward to your videos.
That’s is so exciting!! Can’t wait to hear more about your adventure!! We try to be honest and upfront. We don’t know if our idea will work till we try it. In this case it was not working. Better to stop and reassess and regroup. Find a better way. We couldn’t be happier with the way things turned out. 😊
Love that new run setup. Great job
Thanks Robert!😊
thumbs up
Thanks Tom!👍
I've been in the fence business since I've been 16 here in New Jersey when we got Wet holes and a high water table . We dry pack the post . And yeah you should be good after 48 hours. Give me good too good. And I like how you guys got a pretty high water table, now you know you got water in the ground. We're going to be up in banger Maine to look at a couple pieces of
Hi! Glad to hear we did good!!😊 Our water table is very high and we have plenty of water!😂 Bangor is several hours away from us. Good luck finding a place!!😀
It's cool that you get to do that all together.
The chickies are definitely spoiled, that's for sure.
They are so spoiled!! I mix spices in their feed. Ferment their feed. Sprouting lentils for them. Jason just got them a head of cabbage and hung it up for them!! But…happy chickens give more eggs!! 😊
@@HanbleceyaRanch For sure. A happy chicken is a good chicken.
Hi Jason n Jen,
I’m late 😳 ,,,,dang!
Good team work on the chicken
run, like the netting! Awesome
idea with the pool noodles, there
handy for so many things!
Good looking three new fluffs,
Love their names also. To cute.
Stay safe, happy and God Bless!
P.S. so glad you’re enjoying
Being a chicken mom ❤
Hi Pam!👋 I love being a chicken mom!! It’s so fun!! We are really happy with the way the run turned out. Now they are safe from hawks, eagles, etc. They love being out and not so cooped up!! Have a great evening! Stay safe and God bless!♥️🙏♥️
Beautiful new hens. When I increased my flock size I was told that I needed to keep the new and old separated for 30 days to insure no illness. Was that suggested by the people you got the new hens from?
We got both sets of chickens from the same woman so we lucked out. We have heard if we get new ones they need to be separated for illness but with having come from the same place we figured we were safe. 😊
Did you ever consider sealing the posts with either wood sealer or waterproofing asphalt normally used on foundations? It helps posts last longer even after torching them
Between them being torched and made from cedar we should be good for quite awhile!!👍
just clipped the beaks on ours, they started pecking the eggs so we had none for breakfast!! that pileated woodpecker sure is loud
Clipping beaks is a thing?? Boy I have a lot to learn. We are lucky that ours have not done that as of yet!! Good luck getting breakfast. We have several different woodpeckers in the area…all looking for their mate!!😊
I'm wondering how old they were when you bought them? And how much longer will you keep them before they go on freezer vacation? Are they for meat or eggs? And lastly how many flocks can you do in a season before prepping for winter? BTW...I'm happy to have just found you. Going back in archives and watching all I can. GREAT STUFF!!! Hope you will keep on creating! 👍
They had just started laying when we got them. We are keeping them for eggs and we will do meat birds in the future. We have not done meat birds yet but it will be a learning experience when we do. Still learning with our egg layers!! Glad you are enjoying our channel. We love the feedback and support!! 😊
Every time I see a Chicken I think KFC haha. I used to have some chickens (Cornish White) that could gnaw through metal chicken wire, hope your netting holds up also against hungry predators.
The netting is just for while they are out in the run. The actual coop is much more reinforced! (Fencing in the ground all around the coop, hardware cloth on the coop, etc) We also have the dogs keeping a lot of the predators back! Hoping we did a good enough job!🤞
@@HanbleceyaRanch - Yup, that should do it.
@@d.hepburn995 we hope so!!😊
👍
Hi Ernest!😊
