Looks like my assumptions are justified. As soon as companies (especially the big ones) have new launches of the same fragrances, in most cases it is a miss. They dilute the fragrances by adding more water and increase the prices due to tricks like new packaging or design. In this case, is no exception. Guerlain is a great house with long history and great knowledge how to make supreme fragrances. However, the changing new world has a too strong impact on classics and lines like Art et La Matiere do change. Oh well, globally giants like LMVH I guess won't feels the impact on loosing some customers. Me personally, I liked the old line and most likely won't buy the new one. Oh well, things change, but there are so many other houses we enjoy fragrances from. Thank you for your work and input you do. I enjoy all your videos!!!
I love Guerlain, and in the past I have really liked this collection. I wear Angelique Noir often in the winter and people always love Myrrhe et Delire on me. But I really don't need the customization touches and the pricing may be edging up too far for me; it just smacks too much of exclusivity.
Guerlain has made there perfumes 5 Stars, very impressive. Love how you can customize, great video, thank you !

I love Angelique Noire. However, I don't see myself purchasing another bottle at this prices. Guerlain is too overpriced now.
Love love love this collection Sebastian! Probably my top 1 because I love how Guerlain perfects vanilla (my 2nd fave note). My rank is :Angelique Noir (backups worhy) , Spiritualise Double Vanille (backup worthy), Tonka Imperial (delicious), Cuir Beluga (dont be afraid of word cuir it is yummy), Joyeuse Tuberouse (IMO the most sophisticated tuberose out there).

@@muradjam Really ? When I put it on people keep asking what I am wearing. Somebody even stopped me in the subway the other to ask me what was this gorgeous smell. And a coworker said he can smell my vanilla from the end of the corridor 🤣 I put 4-5 sprays in the morning. I think some people can’t’ smell the vanilla. It’s like some musk. To me this perfume creates a smooth velvety halo of vanilla around you. My fav !

My local Holt Renfrew had a special launch event for the new bottles. I smelled them all and they're all wonderful but my favorite from the whole collection is Bois D'Armenie and it smells exactly like the juice in the old bottles. Show the caps you chose for the new bottles. My Holts gives you the choice of several different caps and also, the thread color is your choice.
I can't wait to be able to afford Guerlain fragrances I love them!! My favorite is the Oriental collection specially Cuir Intense. Also Plamplelune and Vetiver OMG!! Santal Pao Rosa sounds very interesting I looove oud smokey dark resin scents. Your educated historical view of perfumes is so apreciatte.

@@A.K.00 I would say that the original version is more intense. But if the new SDV stands for half a year - they will be identical, in my opinion.
All of the fragrances are available on the actual Guerlain website. On their website you get to customize several features on your bottle, including getting your name engraved on it. I purchased Tonka Imperiale about three days ago. BTW shipping is free (UPS 6-10 days)

Thank you so much for this video. I have heard so many good things about that double Vanille. I have a high hope that I can try it in NM located in SF. Just like you said, the sale rep saying they will not have this line in the store any time soon. BUT, I was so lucky that my sale rep let me try the old version they kept from the past. The smell is so beautiful. Even I really don't like the idea about raising the price, but I will go to get it. Your video definitely confirm that the new bottle of Vanille is good enough for the price.
Which shop in Santa Fe? I live in Albuquerque and the only niche perfume shops i go to in SF are Cosbar and Things Finer
I tried the Santal Pao Rosa at Istanbul airport and it reminded me of Santal Royal. About the bottle: I opened the cap and it came off with the nozzle inside. Lol. Amazing quality, Guerlain.
In the USA it will be available in vegas Bellagio, plus herbes troublante is rename of dimanche a la compagne and epices volées is a rename of their perfume from les parisiens collection which is called Lupin
Hey! Thanks for the video! 😄 For starters, it's great that they preserved "most" fragrances of the lines they reworked, so we still have access to them now and in the near future, at least! But that being said... Shame on Guerlain! This wasn't at all needed! They just faked this re-edition as a clear way to increase price and cut costs... How can they sell this new line as "more exclusive" and "more luxurious" based on customising bottles with basic stuff for free and horribly expensive stuff on the side? Granted, I understand that the bottles are based on old bottles from the house. That is a nice touch... But not needed! And don't get me started on the packaging... You can pay thousands of dollars for a customised cap, but you get a complete trash of a box? What happened to the older perfume cases? They weren't luxurious enough, but a basic cardboard box is? 😑 Come on! Complete rip off move! Good thing I snatched a couple of the old bottles just as they were being discontinued, because Guerlain won't be seeing my money again any time soon... Not on this line... Shameless, needless, greedy rip off! Sorry, not sorry! 😤
I have the new Spirituese Double Vanille and I don't think the incense note is as strong as the older one. I have a bottle of the older one which I only purchased in May, so I know its fresh. I do quite like the newer version!
There is no new version. Its just that your used fragrances is getting better as it ages it becomes more potent.
@@edsaban572 Thank you! perhaps you can answer a question on Chanel Coromandel? I have always picked up the white chocolate note in the fragrance. I sprayed it recently and picked up a musty smell (but not on my skin where I sprayed the fragrance)
I tried Epics Volees, it is Lupin voyou but inferior and simple reformulation,
Santal Pao Rosa is quite nice, good for sandlewood lover.
Rose Cherie is the reforumlation of French Kiss. This one I think is a successful reformulation.
I’m thinking of purchasing the Vanilla one to begin with. Maybe for Christmas

Guerlain is too overpriced now. I just got the original Angelique Noir 2 months ago, I think that’ll be it for me.😁 Also, I don’t really like the new bottle. The rope design makes it look flimsy.. like it can come apart.

Dunno, but I have Julianna's perfumes version of it. Their inspired version is named, Call me by Your Name. I am on a serious budget so the OG is just out if my pay range. I am happy with it.
I always love your video when brands to a change up. Your knowledge on how it was in the past that you compare it helps me out if vintage formulations are worth it or not to buy

SDV, I haven’t come around to yet. Love Rose Cherie. I LOVE Herbes Troublantes. I also love Epices, which was a rebottle of Arsiene Lupin (not the dandy one.) I LOVE Neroli Outrenoir!
The bottles do come sealed but if you personalize them then the box get opened, i purchased SDV, Cuir Beluga and Boise D'Armenie and all 3 plus the miniture bottle set were all sealed. but i love the look of Santal bottle you have
The SA told me that Rose Cherie is meant to layer with Santal Pao Rosa. It's nice. I am going to purchase both for that purpose.
I LOVE Santal Pao Rosa. I usually mix it with DS Durga I dont know what…the ISO really mixes well with the Resins
The price really irks me, but the bottles are lovely and I enjoy the customization and engraving. I wish SDV wasn’t so thin. ☹️ I don’t want to shell out. Herbes Troublantes actually lasts longer than a cologne and performs like a decent EDT. But so expensive! N.O. is a wonderful tea frag and it’s in my top 3 in my collection. I love it!! Could you please do a review?

I have the Spiritueuse Double Vanille in the other bottle before they moved it into the new bottle. For me, I still smell the same vanilla insence smell. I don’t have a sample of the new bottle but I think it’s the same smell than it was in the previous bottle before the change. I’m sorry to say Sebastian, your previous bottle of SDV may have taken a turn in terms of the smell.
Angelique Noire is my absolute favorite Guerlain. I would buy it in the new bottle.

SDV has definitely been reformulated in my opinion. I have the original bottle and just tried the new one. The new one is nice but lighter and opens up with more florals. I dont really get the boozy vanilla until later in the life of the fragrance.
I’d still wear SANTAL 33 . First apply Oud oil, SANTAL 33 le labo after & ISO E super to seal… times cheaper and still intoxicating
Another special thing is that at the champs élysées store you can even choose something to write on the bottle. Your name, a word. A poem. Anything.
I ordered my first bottle of SDV through the Guerlain website, and received an email 12 days later (yesterday) that they had lost my order "due to a technical error". Nowhere to be found, even after logging into my account on the Guerlain website. I was shocked and had to email them back to explain to them which fragrance I had ordered and if my bottle had any engraving or not. Still not able to see my order or tracking on their website, and still no confirmation email of payment/purchase....but the money definitely left my bank account! For this reason, I am quite disappointed with the service considering the cost of the fragrance and exclusivity of the brand.
That happened to me with Molton Brown. I got their discount over Black Friday last year and purchased so many fragrances discounted and they totally lost my lost and was annoying as **** but I didn't repurchase them sadly! I'll have to get them on their coming Black Friday deal next month! :)

That was amazing Sebastian. I have been excited to find out more about this revamped line . I actually prefer the old bottles, they were very elegant and worried that the new ones are reformed. I have heard the original first bottle design of Double Vanille was thicker/stronger juice. I believe Herbes Troublantes use to be called Un Dimanche a La Campagne - a beautiful fresh spring scent .

I never liked Santal33, but this one is not even close. Delicacy at it's prime in Santal Pao Rosa". Great review. I order sample sizes of 8 mini 3oz buttles. My favorite that I'm gonna purchase is "Rose Barbare"

Both are unisex but to me Santal Pao Rosa leans masculine and SDV leans Feminine! :)

Dear Sebastian, Guerlain is my Favorite House of all time. THEY lost their shine however when they discontinued Gourmand Coquin. I can’t find any remaining bottles anywhere & I may have 50 % left in my last bottle. Do you have any recommendations where I might find one? Or would you consider doing a video of fragrances that have strong resemblance to GC? I missed out on a bottle on Mercari for $600 & I wish I would have known! 😂 You may not check comments after this long of time, I would really appreciate it. I trust your nose above all others! Guerlain Lui got renamed, rebottled and repackaged as well. Oeillet Pourpre is the new name and it comes in 100, 200ml bottles. Major price jump as well.

I much prefer the old bottle deisgn and the size. I can see some of their loyal customers will put off by the gimmick and new price. But I do love the miniature bottle, exquisite!

L'Homme Boisee is my favorite Guerlain. It's fresh but woody too. Didn't connect with any of the upper end collection except for Tonka Imperiale. But I don't own it.

Thank god I went and bought all the 75ml bottles I wanted before the rip-off campaign started. They can keep the new ones. Not to mention they destroyed the whole Parisian line. Epice volees is Arsene lupin voyou, old release, new name. Rose cherie smells like rose air freshener for a bathroom
