Islam and the Nation "of Islam" are two different religions. Islam is a religion for all races and enjoins the worship of the One Unseen God who never took human form. On the other hand "the Nation" is a movement geared towards non-whites that teaches God appeared as a man named Fard Muhammad and that Elijah Muhammad was a prophet. According to orthodox Islam these are blasphemous beliefs that contradict the basic theology defined throughout the Qur'an and other authentic texts. The followers of "the Nation" adhere to some Islamic principles that are mixed with other practices and beliefs completely alien to authentic Islamic teachings. And the Holy Qur’an clearly says in 112:1-4 that Allah is NOT BORN… “He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Absolute. He begets not, nor was He begotten. And there is none comparable to Him.” Therefore neither Fard Muhammad nor ANY human being is Allah. One only needs to look at the negative impact of the introduction of mass numbers of people from Muslim majority countries to Europe to see the negative effect on the existing cultures.

Islam as far as Sunnah can be controversial because of certain ahadiths, however, there is a reason why there is four different schools of thought and each have an interpretation that don't practice like the other but don't dismiss their interpretation. They just overlook it with their own interpretation based on their research and studies.

Once Prophet PBUH felt that a certain food made him uneasy he told his wife that he will never eat it again, Gabriel came to visit the Prophet and revealed to the Prophet PBUH that you can not prohibit something which the God allows as halal, you might consume that food less or occasionally but you can’t prohibit it unless God commands so.
This was done as an example because if the Prophet PBUH would abandon eating or drinking something then later his example can be given for calling something mistakenly HARAM ( bot permissible ) which is deemed HALAL ( permissible) by God.
Another example is that the Prophet PBUH used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays but he also deliberately and intermittently used to have lunch on some Mondays and Thursdays so the Ummah doesn’t mistakenly confuse his NAFALI ( voluntarily ) fasts for FARZ ( Compulsory) fasts.
These are called BIDDATS, to invent something new in an already ordained religion and its practices.

If God is evident, which many religions claim, then we can sort of figure out His character through ourselves and nature. For instance:
God is law: He may forgive you but that will not remove the consequences of your actions.
God is love: Despite the endless potential for suffering in the world there's still room for pleasure, laughter, and satisfaction. Only a good and loving God would allow those things, or even care to include them in our experience.
God wants humanity to grow in knowledge: what we've learned has built upon itself. Everything we've discerned has stacked up to reveal depth and complexity, a sum greater than the whole of it's parts. Almost like a skill tree designed to start simple and get more complex, not at all indicative of an origin of randomness and chaos.
God wants humanity to get along: If someone or something cared to put us here, especially if it made the universe FOR us, then it would want us to get along. Humanity is the only living thing that can destroy humanity. Our God would never want us at odds for that reason. Freedom is a trait of God also..
When your religion forces you to turn your back on fellow humans, when it causes you to hate or to separate yourself from your fellow man, it's wrong. Evil people will bring you down, it's true. But evil people represent the majority of believers. The fallen, the broken, the lost seek religion. Why then would anyone expect to go into a church or mosque and hope to find healthy, friendly, loving people? Knowledge of the divine may be out there to find, but we KNOW it's inside us to cultivate. We must reject division. What matters is our selfless service to one another. A quick search reveals the scriptures: Job 12:7-8 in which it is hinted that God is evident in all things. There are multiple scriptures like these. Jews, using their Torah, (sort of the old testament portion of the Bible) understood a different rule of law. One that required regular sacrifices to atone for their sins. My argument is that this method of belief and atonement through long standing repetitive action sing more of reality, how we know it, than redemption through a single atoning event..
For instance, the "reality" is that if you walk a mile down the wrong road you will have to walk a mile back to make up for your mistake and get back "on track". Jesus, on the other hand, says that you can simply realize your mistake and begin again where you initially started with no loss of time. This story of redemption just dosent fit reality how it is demostrated to us daily. This puts us in a hard spot as we have to ask the question: "Just how indicative of our God's nature is the reality he has created for us?" if we go with the Biblical understanding then we should be able to discern him and his nature even without the Bible.
Jesus and the story of instant and divine redemption does not fit the model of our reality. Nothing else in your life works that way. Every breech must be repaired, every spoken word accounted for. We can't just "believe" that everything is ok and have it be so.
