One problem I have with this video is the fact that in Islam it is clearly stated in the Quran (3:103-3:105) that Muslims should not make sectors in Islam and in hadith, it says that there will be a time where Islam will have 73 sectors (73 was a number to resemble a lot like how we use now days1000000 to resemble a lot) but only one will enter heaven and that is the one who does not make sectors in Islam so as long as we follow the teachings of the Quran and the words of our prophet we will enter Jannah. So it is clearly shown that we should not be separated but be one. Inshallah, that will happen but for some to forget 1300 years of separation is hard. But when we do come together that is when we will prevail as Muslims.
And the reason why many say that Ahmadiyya is not muslim is that they follow some who claims to be the Mehdi, the Prophet said that the Mehdi will have the name of my name and his father's name will be the name of my father meaning that the Mehdi's name is Muhammad IBN Abdullah and there were also many things that the prophet said the Mehdi would do but the man name mirza Gulam Ahmad did none of them and it also says for 50 years (I think 50 im not sure search it up) the religon of islam will be in prosperity and in its golden age but as we know right now islam is struggling more then it was before mirza Gulam Ahmad came and the prophet also talks about how the mehdi would look and mirza Gulam Ahmad does not fit the discription, The ahamaddiyya also say that he is a prophet and more prophets will come after, but our Quran goes against this as it clearly states that Muhammad S. A. W. is the last prophet and Muhammad S. A. W. being the last prophet is a pinnacle of islam. And also the Mehdi was supposed to be alive during the time of the return of Isa (Jesus) A. S. and the Quran says that all the world will know that Isa (Jesus) A. S. has come, but as all of our knowledge says, Isa (Jesus) A. S. has yet to come. You also strategically left out the equal members of the NOI the female" soldiers" of the NOI called the MGT/GCC. You never once mention THMLF who has been teacher, leader and guide for 65 yrs. and has rebuilt the NOI since 1978. I would like to thank the brother for his information and his viewpoint on the Nation of Islam. I was raised with the Nation of Islam because my mother was an activist type and she like so many others, were affiliated because of Bro. Malcolm X, my mother and myself, would listen to Malcolm's lectures on albums. My mother and myself have never joined N.O.I however, we have always supported their leadership. When, you look at the Black race and how we're declining, we definitely need all and any help. Our biggest problem is getting caught up in the persona of a person, not focusing on what must be done... That is a human being major problem, so when the leaders, fail or fall from grace... That's the time, when you will see... Is the Praise to God, or to someone else. Take care.

Born in Nebraska, while an infant Malcolm moved with his family to Lansing, Michigan. When Malcolm was six years old, his father, the Rev. Earl Little, a Baptist minister and former supporter of the early Black nationalist leader Marcus Garvey, died after being hit by a streetcar, quite possibly the victim of murder by whites. The surviving family was so poor that Malcolm’s mother, Louise Little, resorted to cooking dandelion greens from the street to feed her children. After she was committed to an insane asylum in 1939, Malcolm and his siblings were sent to foster homes or to live with family members.

Malcolm excelled in school, but after one of his eighth-grade teachers told him that he should become a carpenter instead of a lawyer, he lost interest and soon ended his formal education. As a rebellious youngster, Malcolm moved from the Michigan State Detention Home, a juvenile home in Mason, Michigan, to the Roxbury section of Boston to live with an older half sister, Ella, from his father’s first marriage. There he became involved in petty criminal activities in his teenage years. Known as “Detroit Red” for the reddish tinge in his hair, he developed into a street hustler, drug dealer, and leader of a gang of thieves in Roxbury and Harlem (in New York City).
While in prison for robbery from 1946 to 1952, he underwent a conversion that eventually led him to join the Nation of Islam, an African American movement that combined elements of Islam with Black nationalism. His decision to join the Nation also was influenced by discussions with his brother Reginald, who had become a member in Detroit and who was incarcerated with Malcolm in the Norfolk Prison Colony in Massachusetts in 1948. Malcolm quit smoking and gambling and refused to eat pork in keeping with the Nation’s dietary restrictions. In order to educate himself, he spent long hours reading books in the prison library, even memorizing a dictionary. He also sharpened his forensic skills by participating in debate classes. Following Nation tradition, he replaced his surname, “Little,” with an “X,” a custom among Nation of Islam followers who considered their family names to have originated with white slaveholders.

Malcolm X and the Nation of Islam
After his release from prison Malcolm helped to lead the Nation of Islam during the period of its greatest growth and influence. He met Elijah Muhammad in Chicago in 1952 and then began organizing temples for the Nation in New York, Philadelphia, and Boston and in cities in the South. He founded the Nation’s newspaper, Muhammad Speaks, which he printed in the basement of his home, and initiated the practice of requiring every male member of the Nation to sell an assigned number of newspapers on the street as a recruiting and fund-raising technique. He also articulated the Nation’s racial doctrines on the inherent evil of whites and the natural superiority of Blacks.
Malcolm rose rapidly to become the minister of Boston Temple No. 11, which he founded; he was later rewarded with the post of minister of Temple No. 7 in Harlem, the largest and most prestigious temple in the Nation after the Chicago headquarters. Recognizing his talent and ability, Elijah Muhammad, who had a special affection for Malcolm, named him the National Representative of the Nation of Islam, second in rank to Muhammad himself. Under Malcolm’s lieutenancy, the Nation claimed a membership of 500,000. The actual number of members fluctuated, however, and the influence of the organization, refracted through the public persona of Malcolm X, always greatly exceeded its size.
An articulate public speaker, a charismatic personality, and an indefatigable organizer, Malcolm X expressed the pent-up anger, frustration, and bitterness of African Americans during the major phase of the civil rights movement from 1955 to 1965. He preached on the streets of Harlem and spoke at major universities such as Harvard University and the University of Oxford. His keen intellect, incisive wit, and ardent radicalism made him a formidable critic of American society. He also criticized the mainstream civil rights movement, challenging Martin Luther King, Jr.’s central notions of integration and nonviolence. Malcolm argued that more was at stake than the civil right to sit in a restaurant or even to vote-the most important issues were Black identity, integrity, and independence. In contrast to King’s strategy of nonviolence, civil disobedience, and redemptive suffering, Malcolm urged his followers to defend themselves “by any means necessary.” His biting critique of the “so-called Negro” provided the intellectual foundations for the Black Power and Black consciousness movements in the United States in the late 1960s and ’70s (see Black nationalism). Through the influence of the Nation of Islam, Malcolm X helped to change the terms used to refer to African Americans from “Negro” and “coloured” to “Black” and “Afro-American.”

Final years and legacy
In 1963 there were deep tensions between Malcolm and Elijah Muhammad over the political direction of the Nation. Malcolm urged that the Nation become more active in the widespread civil rights protests instead of just being a critic on the sidelines. Muhammad’s violations of the moral code of the Nation further worsened his relations with Malcolm, who was devastated when he learned that Muhammad had fathered children by six of his personal secretaries, two of whom filed paternity suits and made the issue public. Malcolm brought additional bad publicity to the Nation when he declared publicly that Pres. John F. Kennedy’s assassination was an example of “chickens coming home to roost”-a violent society suffering the consequences of violence. In response to the outrage this statement provoked, Elijah Muhammad ordered Malcolm to observe a 90-day period of silence, and the break between the two leaders became permanent.
Malcolm left the Nation in March 1964 and in the next month founded Muslim Mosque, Inc. During his pilgrimage to Mecca that same year, he experienced a second conversion and embraced Sunni Islam, adopting the Muslim name el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz. Renouncing the separatist beliefs of the Nation, he claimed that the solution to racial problems in the United States lay in orthodox Islam.

My foundation to the practice of Al-Islam proper was through the NOI under Elijah Muhammed. My father was a pioneer of the Newark "temple" 25 back in the late 50's. I was only six when Elijah Muhammed passed and we went through the transition with his son Imam WD Muhammed who introduced the proper practice of Al-Islam. The majority of the community followed his lead, even Minister Farrakhan, but after 3 years he went back to the teachings of Elijah Muhammed and there were other Ministers that did also, such as Silas Muhammed, using the old teachings.

Leroy, great video and thank you for making it. I think it's important that Americans and non-Americans alike understand more about what the Nation of Islam is and isn't. Just a note of historical correction, there was no such phrase, African-American, used to describe Black people in the United States prior to 1984 when then Presidential candidate Jesse Jackson popularised the term. Historically speaking Black Americans were referred to as Negro or Coloured during the times you've indicated in this video. Don't allow political correctness to guide the content of your great videos. Keep it accurate to the times and have no concern for modernity.
As for the Nation of Islam (NOI), it is NOT an Islamic organisation. A better description would be it's a Black American religious and Black nationalistic organisation heavily influenced by the UNIA, an organisation founded by Marcus Garvey, Islam, Christianity and a strong cult of the personalities of Wallace Fard and Elijah Poole who were both heavily influenced by the UNIA. Even Malcolm Little aka Malcolm X was influenced by the UNIA because his father was a Baptist minister who was an active member as well. The NOI grew out of necessity and is one of many unique movements that developed in reaction to Jim Crow being the law of the land throughout the United States at that time. It was seen as an alternative by many to the Black Christian church which they viewed as complicit to the oppression of Black people not only in the US but throughout the Americas.
To all of my non-American fellow Muslims, take the time to learn about the history of the United States during and post the enslavement of Black West and Central Africans and how that crime against Allah and humanity shaped the mindset of Black Americans and the development of such organisations as the NOI. It's not about whether or not the NOI or Ahmadiyyahh were Muslims but why did their influence come about in the way that they did. It's true historically speaking that 1 out of every 4 enslave West and Central African brought to the Americas was a Muslim. Feel free to research and read about Omar Ibn Sayyid an enslaved West African from the Gambia brought against his will to the US.
The beauty of FTD Facts is they open us all to the discussion and the exchange of ideas. I would venture to say that most non-Americans commenting on this video know very little about the history of the US as it relates to Black Americans and Islam. On a very positive note, organisations like the UNIA, the NOI, etc due to their influence have brought many reverts to true Islam inclusive of one of the sons of Elijah Muhammed himself. You do realize that africans were muslims before slavery, right? You were on track for a minute, but I want to give more clarity about the origin. The NOI, as was said, was started by a mystical person who had different aliases: W.D. Fard, Wali Fard Muhammed Master Farad Muhammed. From my knowledge, he was from India or the area now known as Pakistan before the British divided the land mass and he was of the Ahmadia sect. Upon coming to the United States, he was inspired by the Garvey movement and the Moorish Science Temple. Fard's small movement was originally called, The Lost-Found Nation of Islam in The Wilderness of North America, but shorten to the N.O.I later years. Elijah Poole was introduced to go hear Fard's teachings by his wife Clara Evans. In later years, Elijah was one his best students or ministers and Fard gave him the name Kareem.
In 1934, Elijah Muhammed established a newspaper, "The Final Call to Islam". There is much to say, but there are videos where Imam W.D. Muhammed gives more in detail. I'd like to mention that Elijah Muhammed also performed Umrah in 1959 as well as Malcolm X. Malcolm later on performed the annual Hajj.

A second thought is that, many below accuse the man presenting the video as giving false truths and lies. I didn't sense that he was attacking the religion or its members at all so it's funny that many below were so alarmed.
