I would move there just to be able to reply "I'm from Sparta" when people ask where I'm from :D
I once dated a girl who was born and raised in Sparta. The reactions when we said where she is from were hilarious. Between the "Holy shit, really???" and the occasional person who thought that she was lying were great XD
@Ongo Gablogian Don't ruin my dreams. Anyway that is just a matter of perspective. You are from the place you feel is home.
even I live in sparta is cool
i like the way you think
I live about 40 minutes from the city center
This is Sparta!!
Yeah sparta became jock after 300 like Kazakhstan after burat 🤣🤣🤣🤣
MALAKA!
sparta 3.0
*(Kicks the messenger along with his buddies to the well)*
Sparta is my home town, and it truly is amazing
do you have any memorial for king Leonidas
@@fakegamer5207 they do actually
@@fakegamer5207 You can see the memorial in the beginning of this video
so technically your a spartan?
2500 years not much has changed lol
we are nothing compared to the greatness of those Ancient People ..... i would cry visiting Sparta, such an incredible place
@schrodingerskatze2162f u mean? So with ur logic, history never existed and humans came to earth at 2010
There is something deeply unsettling about visiting a place which was so wondrous and awe-inspiring in the past, and to know that in the centuries since nothing in its place has come close to rivaling such past greatness. All one can do in such a moment is to gaze upon the ruins of that once great civilization, and to wonder at its passing.
I am from Tripoli and Krokees. Amazing to see my beautiful Spartan land. ❤️
Greetings to the mighty Spartans: we share the same fate. Our cities were voted to war, and as warriors our history survives through our people, not our monuments. We fought together in Alalia, Lemnos, Illyria and many other places. Long live the Sparta, salutes from Perugia, etruscan city (Italia). 𐌀𐌍𐌖𐌓𐌄𐌐 + 𐌀𐌕𐌓𐌀𐌐𐌔

You could honestly say the same about modern Athens, modern Istanbul, modern Baghdad, modern Xi’an or modern Alexandria really
That food looked soooooo good !!!
Do u know where Kratos' house is?😌
somewhere in northern europe
Somewhere near Lemnos
Lemnos? For real?
Wisnu Suputra in the newest god of war game, kratos says that Lemnos was near the place of his birth. He and his mother fled to Sparta when kratos was a little kid, so I’m not entirely sure.
@@dmeads5663 okay then, thanks for ur info!
Great video, guys! I shared it with subscribers on my FB group- Greece All About Holidays. Thank you!)
That third floor balcony is we're Leonidas kept his bachelor pad
It's incredible how there's basically almost nothing left from the golden age of the Spartan society.. that was mainly due to a lack of interest from the Spartans in preserving their cultural heritage, maybe because the art of war is not something you could preserve like a Parthenon or theater..
You can see in youtube: (the exterminator of ancient Sparta)
Hi from Sparta!
They weren't into momuments or sagas about themselves. They DID. And they are remembered for deeds.
Molon Lavé.
What deeds are you referring to? Winning the war against Athens? Which they didn’t really win ultimately as it was Athenian culture that survived through history. We’re they present in numbers at Marathon? At Salamis? We’re they great originators of science, mathematics, literature, medicine, history, philosophy, art or democracy, all the great things Ancient Greece (and especially Athens) gave to the West and to the world. Sparta was a military oligarchy that was staunchly anti-democratic (which is why Plato and his followers were pro-Sparta)…
@@wdangelo3 dont hate dude
@@wdangelo3 I don’t think you know what you’re talking about.. almost everything you said was wrong.. Greek learning was from all of Hellas.. not just Athens.. mathematics , medicine etc aren’t Athenian.. and yes Athens was crushed by Sparta after hiding behind their walls. And it was the Spartans in platea that won the war against the Persians.. if you want to know more about Sparta, read Xenophon who was an Athenian ..
but you are funny…
“Our ancestors built this wall your scouts provided the mortar” “Xerxes faces free men here not slaves” Lessons in patriotism i love it.. I wish they preserved more of Sparta though.. My family came to America from Italy.. i always wanted to see Italy and sparta where the great spartan hero’s stood and fought to protect their land and homes and families.. They will truly be remembered for all time just like they said in the movie 300..
2000yrs from now, how will we been seen to our future generations.
Coming here after playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey....after watching this video, can assure you the game is a very good reproduction of the landscape...
Dayum dude! I can't believe this is where they filmed "Meet the Spartans". Fucking Epic!
Climbing mount Taygetus is probably the most honorable thing you can do in the name of Leonidas
Masterpiece
When men were men.
And women gave birth to real men
Don't forget the women dude....
@Ongo Gablogian actually that was Athens
@Ongo Gablogian
Delusional*
when Men were Men!!
....and gave each other rim just as a favor... ah, the good 'ol days before Abrahamic religion 😂
Leonidas would be amazed how far his country has come
Our renewed fascination with Sparta,is essentially down to a then young up and coming British historian by the name of Bettany Hughes ,whose passion and knowledge for the topic gained a whole new young audience, and her book and documentary The Spartans, led to the making of The 300 movies, and we are still fascinated because of her..p.s.,Want to know about Ancient Greece 🇬🇷,Bettany Hughes is a good go to person.....
She's not entirely accurate.. Some of the stuff she talks about isn't factual
But she's a fan
I ❤️ Sprata 🙏🙏🙏
Salut to this Brave Hero's 🙏🙏🙏
He said you will be remembered till the end 👍
Proud On this Great Worries 😭😭😭👍👍👍
❤️ From 🇮🇳
Even thou this place seem so declined now. Being able to say "i am spartan" coolest shit ever. I would never call my self a greek at all.
Great video you can see that barely anything remains from the old days. Assassins creed really did it justice on what the old days would being like.
ZEUS YOUR SON HAS RETURNED !!!
Ghost of sparta
SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAANS!!!
WHAT IS YOUR PROFESSION?!?!?!
SPARTA!
I remember my trip there in Assassin's Cred
Exactly Odyssey
sparta never retreat
sparta never surrender

-King Leonidas
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Spartan law died with him
Would love to visit Sparta. Does the akropolis of Sparta still exist like Athens does?
Nothing of Ancient Sparta remains. The town you're looking at here was founded in 1834.
@@Nikolapoleon So sad 😢. its a pity
@@jimmyyork841 The acropolis of Sparta exists and it's an archaeological site. It's just mostly 1-2 meters tall foundations (besites the theater which is preserved better). They are from around late 200BC to roman times. Lately I read there have been talks for more excavation and restoration. Crazy how the most known of all ancient Greek states has been neglected so much by archaeologists and the (useless) state.
You can see in youtube: ( the exterminator of ancient Sparta).

Greece
What if the Hellenic Armed Forces installed a Tier One military school (As good as Navy Seals' school) and call the graduating operators as "Spartans."

aah sparta. a place where women give birth to real men.
Hey woman Winston, back to the kitchen.
Would be nice if they were to rebuild the old buildings for the sake of preserving ancient history.
Building stuff to pretend isn't preserving history.. It's manufacturing
Every society has a responsibility to add it's own later to the DNA

Why wasn’t I born a spartan smh
Sparta, Greece: "Our city was founded in 1834, but we won't tell you that!"
yes, the "city" was founded at 1834, but before it that it was still an inhubitable village, since most of the people had moved to mystras in the medieval times.
It's in the same location as the city state
SO THIS IS JUST SPARTA BUT .MORE MODERN
this reminds me of kratos :]
Great video but this is not all from Sparta, that statue of Constantin XI is from Athenes.

Imagine an airsoft tournament inside the ruins. I know it would probably never happen because people would claim it disrespectful to history, but just imagine. It looks like an fps map.
Are there still radical supporters?
I swear to god if i saw a ghost in there i will tell my friends i saw kratos .
You get it ?, ghost of sparta ?
