Hi Tom I love your videos. I never comment but you're in my neighborhood well I actually live in Cobble Hiil a few blocks down. Wish I had seen you. There are also other Italian bakeries that been around for decades, D'Amico's, Court Pastry, Mazzola and Monteleone's. There is also Sam's restaurant and Espositos recently closed it was in the news. Also St Agnes and St Paul's Churches (a few blocks down in Cobble Hill) are part of the same parish. St Pauls is actually the oldest standing Catholic Church in Brooklyn and second oldest parish. It was an Irish parish. St Agnes was a predominately Italian parish. The land St Pauls sits on was donated bty Cornelius Heeney. He is buried in the church courtyard. There is also Sacred Hearts St Stephens Church which is predominately Italian. Also, although the French are moving in, there is the Hispanic community which is predominantly Puerto Rican along with the old time Italian and Irish that till this day support the parish of St Paul and St Agnes. You mentioned the waterfront. Ships used to dock there from Puerto Rico. Many moved in the area alongside Italians. (My brother in law is half Italian and Puerto Rican) Columbia Street became predominately Puerto Rican SmithStreet as well. My uncle was a dockworker The former Church of St Peter's then decided to offer Spanish masses.(When it closed parishioners then went to St Paul's which by then also offered Spanish masses I believe). Puerto Ricans then moved in further into Carroll Gardens Red Hook Cobble Hill Boreum Hill and so on. You should do some videos where you interview some old timers , original New Yorkers before they are gone forever. In case you didnt know the new people moving in call us the leftovers! Also, I like and watch your Spanish videos even if I already seen English version. Sorry for long comment Keep up the good work!
Also I think Buddy Scotto gave Carroll Gardens its name
I lived at 240 Carroll overlooking this park for 11 years. Great memories
You sre dooooo lucky!!!!!! ☮️
I've been binge watching your Walking Tour videos, since discovering your channel a month ago.
Traveled here a good few times for Smith Street tattoo always loved walking around and exploring this part of Brooklyn ❤
I was born and raised in Brooklyn. I lived on President St. between 4th & 5th. Ave. Worked at the 3rd. Ave. Con Edison Yard on First Street in Brooklyn. Moved out in 1995. My dad & cousin had a pizza store on Court & Degraw.
I passed by that cool mural with the 4 Jokers the other day
I wish College Bakery was still around.❤. Thanks for showing us Carroll gardens.
Oh my goodness! How I miss College Bakery!

This new transition music really leveled up your vids 😄
Haha, thanks, that's a Tom D original... my subscription service ran out!
I didn;t know Carroll Gardens was named after Charles Carroll of Carrollton. His home in Baltimore was restored. He was Catholic and was the last surviror of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. His brother was John Carroll , the Bishop of Baltimore who John Carroll University in Cleveland is named after.
I was born and raised in that neighborhood. Brownstone when it's first laid is pink.
These videos are better and better, I love all of them!
Eric is back !
Can we have more walking and talking like the old videos, feel like I'm missing out seeing all the buildings.
What they said.
I'm adding the area to my places to visit. I'll make sure I'll say Sick Plug when i take a picture. Thank you, Tom.
Fantastic informative video...thanks Tom!!!
Shoutout cousin mark from the pizza show 🍕
Bklyn also once known as the city of churches ⛪
Very cool of you to do this neighborhood! I usually stay in boerum hill when I visit nyc.
Tom, the reason they said sorry Charlie was because he was not good enough to be one if their tuna. He didn’t make the cut! Enjoy your tours.
I wish I had seen you. My daughter goes to that school that you was standing near in the beginning of the video. Thank you for this history :)
Love your content!
Awesome video!
I love your videos Tom. Much love.
This is a excellent video!!!!!!!
Here I am in Dallas and watching you Tom and Cash Jordan two New Yorkers and I live in Dallas. Mijo. It's that Charlie was not good enough to get hooked and pulled out of the sea for Chicken of the Sea so that's why they said Sorry Charlie. Because he didn't make the grade. Love your video See ya
0:47 lmao I walk by that mural almost every day
I haven't seen one of those concrete park water fountains in years rowing up in N.Y.C. the best water we drank back in the fifties and sixties.
Dutch accent. Nailed it 👍
Looking good
Love it!
You’re back in ny Yaaay!!!
Man this is a nice camera. Nice camera. For a nice video. Tom, you’re my favorite crazee person.
Tommy!❤
This my favorite part of Brooklyn.
nice!
You mention that Brooklyn used to be made up of six towns. I’d love to see a video set in the neighborhoods that make up New Utrecht, covering the history of the area.
Love Brooklyn
i hope you do alot of bar trivia tournaments
I miss you so so so much 😍😍😍
What’s up there Tom?!! 😎👊..just chillin how goes it with you man?
How was Los Angeles ? Terrible ! - I love this video from very beginning :)
So what’s going on with the pizza oven thing in NY?
Are you ever gonna come to Staten Island lol
Richard Butts middle name was Harry, epic fact
Eric’s camera is so much better than Phil’s 🌝
Carroll Gardens was named after Charles Carroll, the only Jesuit signer of the Declaration of Independence. Now, we have our first Jesuit Pope after the 265 before him.
Why are are there little iron fences all over nyc
@16:30 , kids riding a bike while holding a watermelo
This was an exciting tour! Too bad that beautiful three-story historical building had to turn into a funeral home. Only $60K? (sigh) "Sorry Charlie" I looked it up. "Sorry Charlie, but only the best-tasting tuna get to be Star-Kist." Lol So funny! How do they know Charlie doesn't taste good? Mobsters fought over a woman who owns a greeting card store? Lol How ironic is that? Sounds like she may have been a little too friendly with her greeting. They should have known she wasn't the only card in the deck:-) That look on your face when you lost part of your snack. It must hurt to lose a Caputo. lol 🧚♀
Sir, did jayz and beyonze not eat at robertas? This is the story I’m more familiar with.
11:01 Richard Butts button
browser history cleared, thanks for the reminder
Did you get a new camera?
It's Eric's fancy BlackMagic!
I have a Brooklyn related question for Tom. How do you pronounce Kosciuszko? Genuinely curious
Cos-key-ooo-sko
How are you Tom.
Hey, What’s with all the social clubs?
Best you don't ask. Lol
Hey Tom! What's up?
Why don’t you do a tour of Nicaragua?
I want to! The political situation there is not amenable to someone coming in and talking about how messed up it is and you can't do a video about it without addressing it. I have to do something though.
❤ ready to bite the Big Apple😮
Hello fellow kids 😂
Eric dunk on Tom
Video was ok
If you did not sound so arrogant and insulting you would be funny. btw if you can not pronounce a street name, then listen how the train conductor pronounce the name
Lol, you think the Conductor has some sort of special knowledge on how to pronounce the names?
@@NiKiMa023 they say it everyday also you could had asked anyone on the street you are arrogant
@@theresadoran7382 I am not arrogant.
Conductors may say the station/street names everyday, but I will assure you, many of them are guessing.
@@theresadoran7382you’re rude as hell, you should probably chill out a bit.
Feeling like this hippie talks too much
Less comedy more informative talking,
just saying.
Reserve your comedy for live stand up moments, please😁
"I have only come here seeking knowledge
Things they would not teach me of in college
I strongly disagree with this. There is a ton of interesting information and history in this video, and it would become much too dense without the humor. It keeps it engaging.
Loved the video, Tom!
There are tons of great channels on RUclips that will give you “just the facts” about New York. Tom’s humor is his trademark and what sets him apart from the others.
new tom d vids get pp much excite
Cronuts at Dominique Ansel 🫰🏽!
