Hay Amy great video as a former dog groomer I can say that you are doing a great job as a pet owner. You are not a professional groomer and should not be criticized as of you are one what works for you and YOUR dog is just perfect. I’m just happy to see you taking the time to comb her out and protect her coat with a jacket when she’s out in the field I love to see a owner who takes care of their animal point blank keep doing you babe
Yassss! It does my groomer heart good to see a doodle parent properly brush their dog! I always tell owners to use a comb to make sure all tangles are out if they use a brush primarily! Keep up the awesome work! ❤️
Wow, you did a good job with her. We have a 15 month only doubledoodle and he doesn’t like to be brushed. We give him treats so he doesn’t move too much. Thanks for sharing.
We live in Minnesota as well and are getting our Golden Doodle puppy this coming Friday! Your videos have been so helpful! We can’t wait to bring him home!
This was so therapeutic for ME to watch!!😊 The fact that it destresses you and obviously Ruby as well is a win all the way around!! Thanks for sharing Amy!! Oh...what are people yapping about?!?! A comb is a comb,is a comb!!... Whatever works for YOU TWO is all that matters!!❤❤She's as cute as can be and SO loved!!! That is all she requires!!😉❤
This did make it seem easier because my mom wanted to get a F1 doodle. I was worried about what brushes to use and how to prevent getting rid of the waviness in their fur.
I use a greyhound comb (what the metal ones you are using are called) on our Ruby (your Ruby's half sister) and it works really well for me too. I just built a PVC grooming arm to help hold her in place for grooming since she still has the wiggles when I comb her. Will have to try more treats. I love how her tail gets so big and fluffy after a good brushing.
Oh good!! I'm glad I'm not the only one using this comb. She is NOT a fan of any brush and I actually can't stand the ripping sound it makes. Their hair is so easy to maintain isn't it?! It's so nice. I love that they are both Ruby. 😄 Perfect name for pretty red goldendoodle girls. 🐾🐾♥️
I use a slicker brush too sometimes and have a under coat rake for the summer, but the comb works best for me. She doesn’t get mats and we have been keeping her hair long cause it’s soooo pretty.
Thank you for this video! I watched this just before we got our golden doodle Arthur last week. I decided to get the same comb and it works great! He loves to get combed and usually falls asleep. I love your channel and content 🥰🐕
I have a Labradoodle with the exact same wavy hair as Ruby. I use the same comb and your right, it works wonders and I love it. Great for combing out burrs. I agree the slicker brush doesn't work as well but it does massage my dog and makes him nice and fluffy 😄
Awww...she really doesn’t like it, does she? You have to do it, though. My dog used to love it, he would stretch out and go all floppy. Wouldn’t move at all until I was finished. Closed his eyes and just enjoyed the pampering.
Oh my gosh I just love her fluffy face!! I have the hardest time brushing our shihtzu yorkie. I give him a bully stick. We use a slicker brush and I’m not a fan either. He gets such gunky eyes, which I’ve been told is normal for his breed but hair around the eyes get all gunky and crusty
My labradoodle puppy HATES the slicker brush. I know everyone says that it’s necessary but I use the same metal comb and he has no mats! As long as he isnt matted, you’re doing good. I do pass the slicker over lightly just to fluff him out for a little, but not necessarily for matting !
We've been at this 2 years and it's the same. The metal comb works perfectly. If we have company coming, I will fluff her out with the slicker. 😄 I love a foofy doodle.
@@dreamflight6000 floofy doodles are loved by everyone! He’s only like 10 weeks old so I gotta get him calm to be brushed. Hes got a really loose wave/curl so its incredibly easy to comb and maintain. Only takes me like 5-10 mins but its such a calming activity!
People scold you on brushing? Huh?! As long as you’re not hurting her and she doesn’t have mats, I don’t get it. My guy is a little more wispy/thin than Ruby and he is a squirmy wormy! 🐛 I’ve tried everything! The only thing that works is constant treats. I love brushing, it’s very relaxing for me and I want him to look well loved, I only wish he would cooperate. I’ve found (for me, not saying for everyone) I rotate brushes between a comb for face and ears, a pin brush like what I use for myself and a rake to pull out the dead hair. Have you tried a rake? They really get the deep stuff. I got mine at HomeGoods for cheap but only kinda because he won’t sit long enough for me to use a comb on anything but his face and ears. He HATES slicker brushes and they only get the very top layer so it’s pointless for us. Boomer is an F1B so we get about that much fur per brushing. So interesting how even within F1B’s they vary so much!! I like my Boomer a little shaggy and not too “poodle ish” like Ruby so one thing that has helped me (not pushing it on you) is for the groomer to trim the “armpits”, belly and behind the ears a bit more short - not like shaved - since those are highly mat prone areas, it helps us. I brush Boomer at least 2-3 times a week with once a week a really deep brushing. Sorry so long, I could talk doodle all day! 🦴 🐾
That's the comb I use on our 6 month old.male f1b. Cow ear? What other chew treats do you recommend? We use the edible nylabone and he finishes them in about 30 minutes. They are SO expensive!
I am watching your videos from the day i got my puppy. Its a goldendoodle F1b .she is now 14 weeks old. I have question , the right age for puppy to be spayed. I'm amazed to watch Ruby growing from 8th weeks to 1 year old. She is adorable. Keep doing more videos🙂
Hi First thing to say is that you video's have really helped with us with our pup. Douglas is now 6 months 22 kilos and is so much like Ruby. Please can i your advice on mouthing. Doug's has a zooming period between 6 & 7 every day and the older he's getting the harder the mouthing. Do you have any suggestions. Thank you Karen Wales UK
How much does she shed? I know that she is a F1 and supposed to shed a little, but how much? I'm looking for a goldendoodle, but I worry about all of the hair dogs that shed.
I use the same comb on my long haired terrier mix. I do agree that maybe it pulls him some and might hurt just a bit, but I am afraid of him getting matted. I have used a slicker brush and even the furminator on him, and nothing else seemed to get out his knots!!!
I love the features of ruby! I’m looking into getting a goldendoodle. Did you kinda tell when were picking her out that she was going to have wavy fur?

My doodle would have just gotten up and moved while I would try to brush her. Ruby did good. Happy Birthday Ruby🐩🎂🎉
Funny. When I cut her..I follow her around. 😄 I'll put peanut butter on the floor and that lasts for a while.
Our wavy F1B gets matted up like crazy and we brush her every 2 days. We get about 10 times as much hair as you do every 2 days!
Your dogs so chill, I wish mine were this patient lol

That's good to hear!! I hate the ripping sound of the brush and she hates it!! But she tolerates this which is nice.
Beautiful good 🐕....💞
What brand peanut butter cow ears do you use?
Nice
I have a cavapoo! His name is Teddy!
What kind of treat was that you gave her for distraction??
Cow ear
You mentioned that you live in SE Minnesota. What kennel did you get Ruby from?
I love the features of ruby! I’m looking into getting a goldendoodle. Did you kinda tell when were picking her out that she was going to have wavy fur?
The breeder told us that their dogs are wavy
Is ruby a standard or medium? Shes beautiful!!!! I love her hair
How do I find a wavy golden doodle? That is exactly what I would want. Not the tight curls.
How long does it take to brush her out?
Desperately Looking for a Golden Doodle in Southern Ontario Caledon Brampton area ?
What kind of cow ears is she having
What does a puppy like Ruby cost?
Hey uh do you recommend getting a 8 week old golden doodle? What are cute names for a BOY golden doodle
YES!!! There's SO many great boy names!
How much does she weigh full grown?
Omg, how awesome! I'm in Rochester MN... Where in MN are you? I just followed you on IG too.😍
Mankato area 🙂
Can you advise me on if a goldendoodle is right for me? I have a 1 level house with a tiny yard. Not very active but i do walk daily
I think they need a lot of space and activity but that's just my experience. Maybe someone will comment on this as well.
Is there an energy difference in standard medium and mini goldendoodles?
My friend has a mini that's SO crazy hyper. I have no idea though. It might just depend on the dog. 🤷
@@dreamflight6000 ah okay. Im so excited to add a fur baby to our family. Are there any doodles that are a bit less energetic? We also love bernedoodles they are so cute!
Ruby can be high energy and also very very calm. I really think they just need exercise and they'll be calm.
Does Ruby shed?
We use a comb like that too! And I also use the pin brush because he likes it 🤣
What is that comb called?
Is ruby a mini or medium?
She's actually a standard. 🙂 She's small enough to look like a medium though. 46 pounds
