I love his show and thisjust summarizes and lays out all of the basic methods he uses on the show. What i love about this guide ruclips.net/user/postUgkxKkYeOoCV_w2vPX0CSyVWkhew2c4FYk0d is that you don' need to read the whole book cover to cover ... You can skip to the chapter (lesson) you want to read about. The book is arranged almost as a problem-solving guide ... Here is the problem and here is what you need to know/do to correct it. This man knows his stuff ... But more importantly knows how to teach people how they can work with their pups themselves!
Wow! You've obviously been putting in a lot of valuable time with training. I just got a 16 week mini-goldendoodle and we are no where near the progress you have made. Nice job!
Yes, we got our goldendoodle at 12 weeks and have only had him 1 1/2 weeks, so we have a long way to go. He knows sit, lay down. We are working on him looking at me with his name and recall. But, for example, he’s not laying down with “lay down” alone. Although, I’m not using a treat in my hand, it looks as though I am and giving him the signal to go all the way down. So, I can’t wait for him to do that without any lure at all before getting a reward. For sit, he has that down pat and does it all the time thinking he’ll get a treat. LOL. We use his kibble too.0
She is such a super smart girl and you are doing such a fantastic job with her. It is so sweet to see how much you love her. She is certainly a very lucky dog to have such a wonderful home with such a dedicated owner. I am so impressed with how much you have taught her already. I wish all dog owners were that responsible. You may want to consider changing the way you are training "leave it". When I was in classes with my puppy the trainer insisted we never actually give them the "leave it" food. So, if you held a treat out in your palm and told her to "leave it", and she did, then she would get a reward treat from your OTHER hand. Or if you have a treat on the floor and told her to "leave it" ,and she did, then you would reward her with food from your hand. She told us this way the dog actually learned that the "leave it" object/food was never an option for them at any time.....versus they just have to "leave it" for now (ie. wait) but could have it in a minute. Her angle was the dog's safety and if a toxic food or substance was dropped on the floor and you told them "leave it" they knew not to touch it...not now...or ever. Just a thought. Keep the puppy videos coming. I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally love them!!!! Makes me want another puppy.....
Can you make a video on how to start the training process of all of these skills? I understand how to do it once the dog has it down, but how do you initially start it? Thanks ♡
You are doing an amazing job with Ruby!! I am very impressed!! She is smart, but it takes dedication and patience to teach like you are. Good job!! love seeing this.
Amy, another thing you should do is mess with her feet, ears, etc. That way if the vet needs to look at those when she's older they won't have a hard time. And if you can teach her to lay on her either side. It'll help them as well. And the lay on her side is for if they need to take x-rays of her. It'll be easier on the vet techs.Just some tips :).
@@gikari yep, goldendoodle are high energy. make sure to physically stimulate by walking, playing fetch, etc. mental stimulation is great and essential too ofc. keep up the good work!
Such a beauty! We had a golden doodle. Awesome breed! Smart and sweet! Her tail will be so amazing as it will fill out! I think the right command is “off” when she is jumping up on you. “Down” means “lie down”.
Good job at training your dog!! I thought it would be challenging but you Made it easy. So I really find this useful!! I liked the first part when your son said Stay. Keep up the good work!!
This is amazing!! Would love to know how/the steps you taught her to ‘go to her bed’. That’s a great command! You can really tell how much love and energy you’ve been putting in to training.
Such a beautiful precious baby! She does so well for her age. I know personally that this has taken a lot of time and training. I might also add love and patience, but there is so much gained to return! Good work and the best to you in your journey with her.🐺🐺🐺🐺❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
You are AMAZING!! Ruby is learning so much so quickly!! Is there a website or a book you can recommend for how you learned this training technique!! A frozen cloth makes SO MUCH SENSE!! As always, thanks for sharing Amy!!
wow your dog is so well trained! im getting an f1 goldendoodle in 2 weeks and wanted to see how well they can be trained. i think you did a wonderful job with her
i get mine in about a month but it’s an irish doodle and i wanna make sure that it is trained because i’ve never had a big dog before! but the drive is 10hours 😔
Just found your channel and I love it! We are getting a 8 week old female Goldendoodle on Saturday and I am so nervous about training (first time pup mom). May I ask how you crate trained and did you start the first night? How long did it take? Also, any tips on teaching her not to jump on people? I love seeing your farm, what a great place to live and explore as a puppy!!
You make it look so easy I imagine that the frustrating moments when she won’t lay down or stay must be happening during training that isn’t filmed. Is that right?
Hi Amy! We just got an 8 week old Goldendoodle and your videos are so informative! But how did you get Ruby to listen so well. Ours is sooooo hyper and when I try to train her she is all over the place. Any other tips for a first time golden doodle mom??
Mine is exactly the same way. 7 weeks and he is out of control every time I try to train. And the biting and nipping is making my hair come out lol but he is a puppy so can’t blame them but training sort yes very hard to get done. He doesn’t even know his name
Lol the leave it, you could tell that restraint was hard. How did you get her to stay in her bed? I bought a crate. I pick up my golden/lab doodle next month.
How were you able to train her so well? I currently have an 8 week old goldendoodle and she is in a bite and jumping phase. I have tried to teach her how to make eye contact, along with other things but it’s so difficult.
my goldendoodle is an f1b mini and is 10 weeks and weighs 12 pounds. 🥰 I think they lied to me . he already learned tricks in 2 days and potty training. they are so smart.
My golden doodle is 8 weeks old and we just got him home. :) Love seeing Ruby learn so fast..can you pls let me know if I should be training him onething each day and how many times a day should I dedicate time to teach? :) Thank you so much!
She is beautiful and I love her color. I had a fur baby for 15 years before she passed and I’m ready for a new one. I was told they hardly shed and that’s what I need now. Could you please tell me what the difference is between the F numbers? I would like a mini golden doodle ... the miniest lol.
I have a 9 week golden doodle and he is driving me crazy. Any tips for helping me to stay patient with my pup? I’m really struggling to train with kindness and not get frustrated
You are fantastic with Ruby! It’s fun watching you fall in love with this sweet puppy. You could do a training video series! I’d never have thought to have my dog know to go to her bed when people are entering your home. But I’m going to now train this to my 4 yr old short hair. Her leave it is the absolute cutest! “Oh man mom but I want it so bad, but I’m going to be good darn it!”
Beautiful puppy! My family is getting a Goldendoodle soon! Do you have any recommendations? We don’t know what gender it will be, we are going to try to get the first available! Any names? How do you exercise ruby?
You can see her fighting the intrusive thoughts during the leave it 😂 such a smart pup

I NEVER thought of that. I’m glad I read this, great advice Tara.
My heart melted when she went to her bed!!
Is there a video that actually shows how its done? I understand she's so good but would love to see HOW it is actually trained. Can you share that??
When she started Ed to shake her head for the leave it command was so cute
OMG! I want to hug her! She's so sweet!
