  • Today was an exciting one. We were able to get the codes all sorted out, culprit being a bad cam position sensor. The more exciting part however, is we had the opportunity to test @rsfuture’s proto aero package for the Toyota GR86. Equipped with a wing and splitter, it was game on, time to get down.
    The stars aligned and to our surprise, we had Buttonwillow entirely to ourselves. Aside from the looming of creeping heat, couldn’t ask for better test conditions. Out of the gate the car was fantastic. The addition of the splitter provided excellent balance - extremely stable in high speed sectors without any unwanted push. GR owners, without a doubt this is the right pair when it comes to aero.
    We concluded the (short) day with a 1:56.9 lap and accomplished the goal we were looking for, issue free.
    Mod list:
    RS Future wing and splitter
    KW Clubsport coilovers
    Counterspace Garage CE1/C11 pads
    Header
    Cat back
    NA tune by CSG
    Nankang CRS 255/40/17
    17x9.5 Volk Racing ZE40

    Man that's fast. The company you're in on the lap times there at BW is incredible. Most of the cars above and below you time wise are double, triple (or much more)the HP and cost. Your car is bitchen as well; super nice set up.

  • @shakespeareracing7822
    @shakespeareracing7822 10 месяцев назад +1

    That's quick, I think Jackson Racing did a 1:57'6 on 225 with no aero. Obviously many factors in between the two cars, when they were run, who was driving etc. Your lap did look pretty easy to drive and drama free. I wonder what RE71RS and stiffer spring rates would do.

    • @mattrojanaracing7698
      @mattrojanaracing7698  10 месяцев назад

      So far, the off the shelf rates on the KW Clubsports feel solid. Car is very easy to drive. I am also curious as to what slightly stiffer rates would translate to. Perhaps we should try?

      We are running a Greddy baffle. However, I cannot say how well it is working until a oil pressure gauge is installed. Engine is still alive so far though so that’s a good thing.

    It's incredible what great cars these are, even going back to the 2012/2013 model variants... and then you realize what a disappointment the engine is. It's not the numbers; it's the output delivery and the track reliability. They rev terribly and love going into limp. Shame. I'll take the 2.0 litre in the ND1 MX-5 over these dogs. Sure, it's 50 less hp or so, but the NDs (yes, even the ND1) rev like motorcycles. We have to wait a few more years for the next facelift to see if they fix it, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
