I actually went though middle school to high school. Smash was announced in my last year of middle school for me and now we have this for my senior year of high school. It’s crazy to think about. End of an era
Can we just acknowledge something touching about the full trailer? Since day 1, mario has been CONSTANTLY in danger. Hes been crushed, stabbed, blown up, disintegrated, etcetera. But then theres Sora. Not only does he come in not wanting to kill mario, he ends the whole thing by shaking his hand. I find that touching honestly. Touching and wonderfully in character.
"Everyone, thank you so much!" I really shed a tear, it's been an honor to experience the growth of not only this game, but this franchise and community. I don't think there will ever be another game like this again (unless nickelodeon pulls something out of a hat but thats a whole other can of worms). The way Sora was revealed just gliding in was so well executed, it fits so nicely. Also that fight between Sora, Cloud and Sephiroth and both of them using their ults perfectly on each other was incredible and perfect. Super glad to have enjoyed that ride with Sakurai and all of you.
@@mihchin Im pretty sure that's not the case. Having Sora in here was a monumental task, as he is completely owned by Disney. That was the deal they had to do in order to create Kingdom Hearts; everything is owned by Disney.
Just rewatched this, and I only having one thing to say... when people think of fighting games, they normally think of Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter, and ALL of these other majors fighting games. But none of them are more amazing and special than Smash Bros. This game, this franchise... went above and beyond to bring us characters from major games from major companies, and made our dreams become a reality. This game went and took the liberty to negotiate with major companies such as Microsoft, PlayStation, and FREAKING Disney, and gave us amazing characters. We live in a timeline where we can play as characters like Banjo, Sans, Cuphead, Steve, Doomguy, and now Sora, all in one game. Sure there have been some characters that people may not have liked, and those who will be upset that Waluigi is not a fighter, but you know what... this game is perfect either way. Because this game had one thing that most other fighting games may not have... ambition. Ambition to jump through major hurdles to give us an incredible game. And for that, I say... Thank You Masahiro Sakurai, for giving us a wonderful franchise.
Everyone. Sakurai said that demand for Sora being in Super Smash was taken note of [since the fighter ballot for Super Smash 3DS and Super Smash Wii U years ago]. Much of Sakurai's relief for Sora getting into Super Smash must be because they would've had to keep Sora's inclusion into Super Smash Ultimate a secret from the beginning of production, until the time for the final DLC reveal. Keeping a secret for that much time is often not very easy.
Something about this reveal, just how there weren’t any unexpected twists or comical moment, it just symbolizes how important this moment is, the end of the smash bros reveals.
This is definitely it for new Smash Bros characters, and games likely. Ultimate and the direct are a culimation of all Smash Bros content coming together to make the biggest crossover ever. I dont think it's good to try and mess with it
@@coolguyc4sey Exactly. It's highly unlikely that there will be any more Smash games (other than those cheap knockoffs) after Ultimate. Sora looks way too overpowered in the footage of Sakurai's explanation and demonstrating it.
We're forgetting that Ultimate sold over 20 million copies. There is definitely going to be another Smash game, with or without Sakurai, because Nintendo would be stupid to not cash in.

I may not have played or watched anybody play the Kingdom Hearts games but even as a watcher from the sidelines I can comprehend the absolutely legendary and colossal weight that this reveal trailer carries. Sora wasn't just a pipe dream, he was an impossibility. A one in a million chance of him getting into SSBU would be a generous ratio and we all have Sakurai and the entire Smash Bros team to thank for this gaming achievement. Characters like Ridley, Simon Belmont, and King K. Rool made us think that "any" character could make it into Smash Bros, as if bringing back all fighters from previous Smash games wasn't enough. But then fighters like Joker, Banjo and Kazooie, and Minecraft Steve were revealed and made us truly believe that ANY fighter could make it in. Sora is so significant because he doesn't just make us believe that any character can make it in, he PROVES it.

Today marks the one year anniversary of Sora's release in Smash! I am a huge Sora main. He has a decent moveset and neat character design. I remember doing a challenge of not touching another character, until Sora is my most played character, in which I did lol. What a perfect character choice for Smash, even for a final one. Once again, thank you Masahiro Sakurai for making this amazing game.
This was probably THE MOST challenging thing that Nintendo and Sakurai had to pull off. Disney is literally the final boss of copyright issues and difficult to agree on something that involves with money. So happy that Disney nade a decision to allow Nintendo make Sora come into Smash Bros.
Fun Fact: about 40 years ago, the Game & Watch titles were born, and a few that were made later in the years were based off Mickey Mouse (with Disney licensing them of course.) 40 years later (today), they've just made thousands of people's dreams come true. The fact that Donald, Goofy, Mickey, and Pluto made no appearance is testament to that for sure. I loved the trailer to death don't get me wrong, but there was almost no dialogue at all in it and no mention of traversing worlds. I'm sure that's Disney's fault lol

When I was younger, my brother and I were really into Kingdom Hearts. I always thought it would be cool to see Sora in smash so like many others he was my dream character. My brother passed away recently so it's a shame he didn't get to see how stoked I was at Sora's announcement. It feels like a fever dream that Sora is actually here now.

I love that this trailer makes Sora’s appearance a celebration. It starting with a reference to the first Smash Ultimate trailer but with everyone there and then the symbol dissipating with one flame falling on the ground. Then everyone is turned to statues when it goes dark but Mario is the only one reawakened by the fire. He slowly walks to it wondering what will happen then finally, after hesitating for a few seconds, thrusts his hand to it and launches it. Then when the spinning object is shown in slow motion you can see the end of it a little to make out what it is. The second after that it shows the Mickey keychain to remove any doubt who the final character is. It stays in midair shooting the keyhole beam releasing Sora into their world, awakening everyone else while the into music to the first Kingdom hearts game plays. It’s so poetic that the most requested character ever for Smash Bros. is the final reveal for this game. Having every other character there to witness him coming in and bringing them all back to life is so epic. Sora is not only another game representative, he’s a Disney representative. Nintendo and Disney have now collaborated to make this game the most ambitious crossover in fiction. This one character means so much to so many people and Mr. Sakurai is legendary for making this happen. He knew that Sora would be the best choice for the final character in order to finish this game with a blaze of glory.?And it is the most glorious blaze I’ve ever seen. Disney, Square, HAL, Nintendo and the visionaries responsible for Smash Bros and Kingdom Hearts, Sakurai and Tetsuya Nomura, have made gaming history.

Smash Bros is one of the most amazing video games of all time to me. The music, the characters, the fun... This game manages not only to be my favorite fighting game, but also my favorite song playlist, my favorite story and more... Sora being the last character is the perfect ending for me. The circle is now complete Kingdom Hearts was initially conceived to be a rival to Super Mario 64 and now Sora’s shaking Mario’s hand on top of all of the games confirmed for the Switch.

it's really unfortunate the monkey's paw curled when we got sora in smash because the switch games are all the cloud versions I'd get it if just 3 was on cloud, but what could have been an amazing way to experience 2FM is immediately one of the worst ways to experience it

I know my comment is late, but I think it’s time to finally give Mr. Sakurai the respect he deserves. While I didn’t know anything about KH when Sora was announced, (all I knew was the meme of “story complicated”) I still respected the choice and was happy for Kingdom Hearts fans. Earlier this month, I bought the collection, and I now love KH 1 and 2 (Haven’t played 3 yet, and I didn’t play any of the games in between). I love the games, and love this reveal even more. Smash really helps people get into new games and have them try things they never did before. Thank you Mr. Sakurai.

To be fair, Sora's aerial abilities are quite impressive in the games. Like Sakurai said, it's in the name (Sora meaning Sky).

I actually went though middle school to high school. Smash was announced in my last year of middle school for me and now we have this for my senior year of high school. It’s crazy to think about. End of an era

Since day 1, mario has been CONSTANTLY in danger. Hes been crushed, stabbed, blown up, disintegrated, etcetera.
But then theres Sora. Not only does he come in not wanting to kill mario, he ends the whole thing by shaking his hand.

The way Sora was revealed just gliding in was so well executed, it fits so nicely. Also that fight between Sora, Cloud and Sephiroth and both of them using their ults perfectly on each other was incredible and perfect. Super glad to have enjoyed that ride with Sakurai and all of you.

@@mihchin Im pretty sure that's not the case. Having Sora in here was a monumental task, as he is completely owned by Disney. That was the deal they had to do in order to create Kingdom Hearts; everything is owned by Disney.

Just rewatched this, and I only having one thing to say... when people think of fighting games, they normally think of Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Street Fighter, and ALL of these other majors fighting games. But none of them are more amazing and special than Smash Bros. This game, this franchise... went above and beyond to bring us characters from major games from major companies, and made our dreams become a reality. This game went and took the liberty to negotiate with major companies such as Microsoft, PlayStation, and FREAKING Disney, and gave us amazing characters. We live in a timeline where we can play as characters like Banjo, Sans, Cuphead, Steve, Doomguy, and now Sora, all in one game. Sure there have been some characters that people may not have liked, and those who will be upset that Waluigi is not a fighter, but you know what... this game is perfect either way. Because this game had one thing that most other fighting games may not have... ambition. Ambition to jump through major hurdles to give us an incredible game. And for that, I say... Thank You Masahiro Sakurai, for giving us a wonderful franchise.

Sakurai said that demand for Sora being in Super Smash was taken note of [since the fighter ballot for Super Smash 3DS and Super Smash Wii U years ago].
Much of Sakurai's relief for Sora getting into Super Smash must be because they would've had to keep Sora's inclusion into Super Smash Ultimate a secret from the beginning of production, until the time for the final DLC reveal.
Keeping a secret for that much time is often not very easy.
Something about this reveal, just how there weren’t any unexpected twists or comical moment, it just symbolizes how important this moment is, the end of the smash bros reveals.

This is definitely it for new Smash Bros characters, and games likely. Ultimate and the direct are a culimation of all Smash Bros content coming together to make the biggest crossover ever. I dont think it's good to try and mess with it
@@coolguyc4sey Exactly. It's highly unlikely that there will be any more Smash games (other than those cheap knockoffs) after Ultimate. Sora looks way too overpowered in the footage of Sakurai's explanation and demonstrating it.
We're forgetting that Ultimate sold over 20 million copies. There is definitely going to be another Smash game, with or without Sakurai, because Nintendo would be stupid to not cash in.

I may not have played or watched anybody play the Kingdom Hearts games but even as a watcher from the sidelines I can comprehend the absolutely legendary and colossal weight that this reveal trailer carries. Sora wasn't just a pipe dream, he was an impossibility. A one in a million chance of him getting into SSBU would be a generous ratio and we all have Sakurai and the entire Smash Bros team to thank for this gaming achievement. Characters like Ridley, Simon Belmont, and King K. Rool made us think that "any" character could make it into Smash Bros, as if bringing back all fighters from previous Smash games wasn't enough. But then fighters like Joker, Banjo and Kazooie, and Minecraft Steve were revealed and made us truly believe that ANY fighter could make it in. Sora is so significant because he doesn't just make us believe that any character can make it in, he PROVES it.

Today marks the one year anniversary of Sora's release in Smash!
I am a huge Sora main. He has a decent moveset and neat character design. I remember doing a challenge of not touching another character, until Sora is my most played character, in which I did lol.
What a perfect character choice for Smash, even for a final one. Once again, thank you Masahiro Sakurai for making this amazing game.

This was probably THE MOST challenging thing that Nintendo and Sakurai had to pull off. Disney is literally the final boss of copyright issues and difficult to agree on something that involves with money. So happy that Disney nade a decision to allow Nintendo make Sora come into Smash Bros.
Fun Fact: about 40 years ago, the Game & Watch titles were born, and a few that were made later in the years were based off Mickey Mouse (with Disney licensing them of course.) 40 years later (today), they've just made thousands of people's dreams come true.
Even though Disney and Nintendo are quite greedy companies, they know how to satisfy their fans... and they just did

Only thing that makes me sad about this reveal is that Hikari being used in the announcement trailer but NOT being one of the songs we get with Sora.

When I was younger, my brother and I were really into Kingdom Hearts. I always thought it would be cool to see Sora in smash so like many others he was my dream character. I love that this trailer makes Sora’s appearance a celebration.
It starting with a reference to the first Smash Ultimate trailer but with everyone there and then the symbol dissipating with one flame falling on the ground. Then everyone is turned to statues when it goes dark but Mario is the only one reawakened by the fire. He slowly walks to it wondering what will happen then finally, after hesitating for a few seconds, thrusts his hand to it and launches it. Then when the spinning object is shown in slow motion you can see the end of it a little to make out what it is. The second after that it shows the Mickey keychain to remove any doubt who the final character is. It stays in midair shooting the keyhole beam releasing Sora into their world, awakening everyone else while the into music to the first Kingdom hearts game plays.
It’s so poetic that the most requested character ever for Smash Bros. is the final reveal for this game. Having every other character there to witness him coming in and bringing them all back to life is so epic. Sora is not only another game representative, he’s a Disney representative. Nintendo and Disney have now collaborated to make this game the most ambitious crossover in fiction. This one character means so much to so many people and Mr. Sakurai is legendary for making this happen. He knew that Sora would be the best choice for the final character in order to finish this game with a blaze of glory.?And it is the most glorious blaze I’ve ever seen. Disney, Square, HAL, Nintendo and the visionaries responsible for Smash Bros and Kingdom Hearts, Sakurai and Tetsuya Nomura, have made gaming history.

I found it hilarious and very fitting on how Sephiroth and Cloud focused their final smashes on each other rather then Sora at 1:00:01.

It's so lame how Doomguy only gets to be a mii costume, and in the final reveal too. They've been putting in tons of Bethesda mii costumes but didn't put him in until now. They really should've just put him in it earlier so people could at least accept he didn't have a chance this fighter's pass

The fact that Disney let them have the Mickey Charm on the end of the Keyblade is a miracle in of itself!!!
Disney does not own sora lol he’s square enix which is the same company that owns final fantasy so it makes sense he’d be in the game since cloud is in it

It's not really a miracle that has been on his keyblade since the first game and it ties in with sora as a character considering sora is supposed to be a representation of Mikey Mouse or at least have similar features to him

Two years now, I cannot express enough how a literal dream of mine came true on that day. I was 16 when this released, and I’ve wanted Sora since I was 8. Just revisiting this makes me feel warm.
When they started laughing cause Sakurai said "He's really here". I knew that Disney probably gave them the hardest time cooperating. But what a way to send us off.

If you pay close attention to when sora chuckled while flying, it was when he flew over cloud. You can see where cloud was standing at 40:27.

Really deserves to get a cherry on-top with Cloud getting his KH costume in smash, wich he should've had we he released in smash4, since he actually appeared on some nintendo games in that costume.

It's so sad to see everyone cheering about how "Sora is finally here!" when they're essentially cheering about how "Nintendo is finally going to go up in flames like EVERYTHING ELSE DISNEY TOUCHES!" The smash 4 trailers started when I was in elementary, now I’m in college.
If you count Smash 4 (revealed on E3 2013), you could’ve gone from Middle School all the way to a College undergrad degree!
I know my comment is late, but I think it’s time to finally give Mr. Sakurai the respect he deserves. While I didn’t know anything about KH when Sora was announced, (all I knew was the meme of “story complicated”) I still respected the choice and was happy for Kingdom Hearts fans. Earlier this month, I bought the collection, and I now love KH 1 and 2 (Haven’t played 3 yet, and I didn’t play any of the games in between). I love the games, and love this reveal even more. Smash really helps people get into new games and have them try things they never did before. Thank you Mr. Sakurai.
