I’ve always wanted Rotten Apple to be on their unplugged show it would have been amazing because the song itself would have fit into their set perfectly
Yeah, it's up there, but then there are Soo many incredible melodies it's hard to really be sure-- the Mad Season stuff is soo incredible as well, he seemed to have a new happiness watching them perform at The Moore show and the music and vocals were so amazing.. But yeah, this is out of this world for sure❤🙏🎸
0:04 'we never go on the Unplugged' the funniest thing about that comment is that the next live show Alice played live after this show was MTV Unplugged.
Thier most Hypnotic Song and they absolutely kill it right here. Layne sounds stunning. They all do. Can listen to it for days at a time! ...... rest up
For those who want to know this was a soundcheck for their show at the Hollywood Palladium for the acoustic benefit show for Norwood Fisher on January 7th 1994
This acoustic version of this song shows you how 90s music including certain Grunge Rock songs had this very dreamy, colorful quality to them which is further why it's nostalgic for me other than the fact that the 90s is when I grew up as well!
Just like how Soundgarden wouldn’t do SNL - then agreed bc they said it was the last show before cancellation - then it never got canceled lol. Ben was pissed.
I have to battle between him and Chris Cornell. Eddie is fine, Kurt made himself a legend, hell even add in Scott Weiland........ those first two were the armored guards.
As a musician that likes to experiment mainly with vocals and drums, I have such a high respect for Sean Kinney, and this clip of Rotten Apple comes to show how much drumming talent the guys got. Rest in peace Legends Layne and Mike, and keep on killin’ it Sean, Jerry, Will, and Mike💯🤘🏻
Really shows the contrast for how extremely well Sean found a much more honed adaptation with his drum kit/technique by the time they did the real deal.
chills all up and down my spine. i never thought i'd hear an unplugged/acoustic version of this song but this alone is transcendent. if only it came to fruition in the unplugged album! thank you so much for this
Oh how I would LOVE to get to hear some of the practice tapes, and them just jamming and writing new songs and coming up with ideas and melodies etc etc❤❤🙏🙏
Oh Gosh, What a voice, None will be like him. Just like all other 4 Seattle bands so different from each other. I really wish If I could see them live. Miss your voice Layne...RIP.
Pls give credit to the original uploader before all of these gets flagged up and takn down and we don't get to see these gems Thank you and have a great year!
Bro I wish they would have played this so we would get a full version the one I've always wanted to hear unplugged was bleed the freak I could only imagine what that would've sounded like
I’ve always wanted Rotten Apple to be on their unplugged show it would have been amazing because the song itself would have fit into their set perfectly
When I first got into them about 15 years ago I thought the same thing watching unplugged for the first time.
No excuses was on there! But I wish they did Rotten Apple, and Don’t Follow on unplugged.
They should have opened with it. GAH! Plus it’s one of their forgotten songs per se. It’s my most favorite. Since day one. 😊
Jesus ya man it would
At one point I thought it was
The way his voice echoes through the venue is simply ethereal. I would've killed to have seen this in person.
Brian Kinney kills it on this.

Best one ever💗💗
Funny how he said they wouldn't do the unplugged set and they do it and it turns out to be one of the best unplugged recordings ever
man i wish this was on mtv unplugged
You, me, and about a million other people wish this exact thing.
I always wondered why they didn't. Maybe it didn't sound right without the talk box?
@@runnersdialzero1244 Time Constraint
This was amazing and makes me want to cover this song badly
@@runnersdialzero1244 I think because it was a too obvious song to use for unplugged
Layne coming up with the melody for this song was probably his greatest stroke of genius in AiC.
Yeah, it's up there, but then there are Soo many incredible melodies it's hard to really be sure-- the Mad Season stuff is soo incredible as well, he seemed to have a new happiness watching them perform at The Moore show and the music and vocals were so amazing..

Let’s face it: Layne Staley and Chris Cornell’s voice are imbedded as the best.

Hypnotic, the most accurate way to describe this song. Love this tune
Layne, we need you now in 2023! You too, Cornell!
Yes agreed miss them ♥️
God damn Sean's drumming😮
The guy has such a great sense of groove, pocket, whatever you call it, love his style!
For those who want to know this was a soundcheck for their show at the Hollywood Palladium for the acoustic benefit show for Norwood Fisher on January 7th 1994
That’s awesome, do you think Sean said that in the beginning because he didn’t believe they’d make it there?
Anyway to get a recording of this concert
Rotten Apple is some of their best work imo.
Laynes voice is so haunting in the chorus ❤
His voice here sounds like he’s humming the song from another room. Makes it sound more somber
This acoustic version of this song shows you how 90s music including certain Grunge Rock songs had this very dreamy, colorful quality to them which is further why it's nostalgic for me other than the fact that the 90s is when I grew up as well!

Never do the Unplugged
Layne's voice is so beautiful and ethereal 💗
God damn did Layne nail that! Wish there was a full version of this performance.
How I wish with so much passion they played this at their MTV Unplugged. It sounds amazing here!
This is beautiful. Alice In Chains has a way of expressing the emotions we all feel in their songs. RIP Layne
Those drums are fucking slapping rn

The fact he sits there non shalantley and bolts out harmonies and notes few people can hit is amazing.
