Thanks for bringing us along for the season. Appreciate the tips as it was my first year out with my pup. We had seen lots of birds also. Been finding to many deer ticks lately though so I think we are done for the season now too. Looking forward to MN deer hunting here.
Great video- you sure have a lot of grouse there makes for some excellent hunting. Aren't you worried that taking so many birds from one area will affect it for next season? I take it you don't December hunt grouse. Good luck on your hunt out west.
@@garya9875 no I’m not worried at all. The hunts I’ve filmed have been in three separate areas that are 5-10 miles apart. I’ve honed in on this spot just the last three weekends, but I’ve flushed many more that I haven’t shot. If I wasn’t putting up numbers I would keep finding new areas. The major population swings come with the boom to bust cycles that these birds go on approximately every 10 years. I don’t hunt late season due to 3 sons playing hockey and the snow/cold are less enjoyable.
@@karlberkner5041 lol fact is I’m not a great cook! I also had to go gluten free a few years ago so it’s mostly pan fried with seasoning salt and a little bbq. My personal favorite that my wife used to make was to roll the meat in brown sugar then pan sear in butter to caramelize the brown sugar. Then cook @ 350 in a pot of cream of mushroom. Absolutely amazing!
I would like to see a video of how and why you choose where to hunt grouse based on the time of the season. Showing what the food sources and tree coverage looks like. And don't forget, the late season after deer season. That would be information that is helpful to those who are interested in trying grouse hunting. Another subject would be a grouse hunt without the dog. I definitely understand and appreciate the enjoyment of hunting with a dog, but that's not always an option for some folks.
@@mojo7004 my locations don’t change that much, maybe more aspens early season and more brush and transition lines once the leaves drop. I feel like my videos have showed the habit I hunt. Hunting with my dog is the reason I hunt and will probably continue to be part of my videos.
Does a heart good to see a beautiful lab working the uplands, well done and congrats
@@boblincoln1352 thank you
Great videos - I really enjoyed these. Scratches the itch when I can't get out in the woods!
@@birddogsforever9135 thanks, glad you enjoyed them!

@@timothyjackson5897 the deer tick were definitely bad this year. We need a string of nights down in the low 20’s!
