I've been catching surf perch there for years. Here's my tips. Head away from the rocks. Drive the opposite way when the tide is out and note sand bars. There will be water in front of them kinda like ditches. If you're digging clams, you have to wade to get up on the bars. That ditch is where the perch hold when the tide is coming in. You will see wave froth, a slick, then a wave. Cast into that slick, it's the ditch. Also, turn sideways with one foot towards shore and I other towards sea so waves don't impact you so hard and knock you down.
Frigging breakfast clams!!!! Lol your a trooper Jordan. The wife and I watch your shenanigans daily. Keep up the good work. And stay fishy my friend. P.s... I found myself saying "that's a good cup of Joe" today. Lol
Lived in Oceanside California and found out you don't need to cast out very far in the surf to catch surfperch they are relatively close to the edge of the beach in the pocket were the waves brake on shore.
LOL 😂😂😂 That's just a subtle reminder to all the ladies out there. If you want a man to eat that bearded clam on a regular basis, KEEP IT CLEAN!!!! LOL 🤣🤣
Your videos are always great!! I love Wednesday’s when there is a stay fishy vid! I can’t wait for the Chile movie and the Alaska videos they are going to be great!
Note for next time. Fry the fish first to almost dry it out. Then deglaze the pan with water and start making your stock. The fish will have better consistency and it will also add more flavour to your broth. This works better for almost all soups. Take the fish off the bones and then put them in a spice bag and keep them in the stock as well to add to the flavour of the broth, but then it’s easy to remove them at the end
I love it. I started surf perching and crab snaring off the beach this year. Been killing it. Just too bad it took me over 50 years to find the beach fishing fun.
My favorite way to fish surf perch is carolina setup a 1.25 oz tungsten bullet weight. I use my 9.6 sst steelhead rod. Cast it out, keep the tip high and rell just slow enough to hit bottom every now and then. They will hit it hard and is actually a fun fight.
They have a surf perch derby coming up. You fish in teams for prizes. You can learn a lot hanging out at the derby, the experienced locals will be there.
A trick for shelling the clams I was shown as a kid in alaska is to use the clam shell as a knife to cut the 2 attachment points on the shell on each side. Also splitting the top third to half of the boot let's you clean more of it out
As usual, another great video. However, I do have a question. On that surf perch, why did you scale it if you were gonna skin it? I am honestly asking, not trying to be a jerk. I was curious if there was a technique. Thank you, as always for sharing this adventure.
Jordan, what setup were you using for the surf perch (rod and reel size)? I’m coming up to Long Beach this summer and want to give perch fishing a try. Love the videos!
If you want your clams to purge faster put cornmeal in the water. Then they are stuffed from the inside.stay safe. I used to fish down below the lighthouse, in the 80s.
idea for the video: you go to an island alone (a friend takes you in a boat and leaves) and you build a raft or something similar to escape from the island
Watchin again havnt seen a vid in 11days i feel like i seen an update, butttttt hope everything is good with the clan n my current favorite youtuber n his bestest buddy love to you guys n the doggos hope to see a new vid soon
The "guts" are actually very tasty, just don't eat them if you've just caught them earlier lol. Gotta keep them in saltwater for atleast a day or two so that they spit out all the sand.
@@morgankruse4666 I’m sorry but I chuckled really hard just now, salmon season isn’t closed on the kenai 😅 they only shut it down for a month then it’s open again
I just found your channel. I live only a few miles from the ocean here in Washington state. Razor clams are one of the best things to eat as my opinion. We call the foot as you say the digger and it is loaded with a fatty flesh and my favorite part. We use the necks for grinding and making awesome patties. To me a fast fried clam is like candy and I'll even eat them cold. Try using a really intense propane cooker like for deep frying a turkey. Then oil the clams that are cut into strips. Then toss in seasoned flower of your choice and throw into a wok that's damn near red hot. Toss constantly for no more than 1 minute, salt and pepper and be ready for a food orgasm. The kelp is really good also but I oil fry it for about 10 minutes and then minc. Mix it with rice, butter and light soy is my favorite way. I've served it to people that have no idea that it's kelp and they liked it a lot.
Have you fished at banks lake caught a 13&1/2 trout fat fat fat trout right there by the jetty going to be camping at the campground as of may 1st so if you ever down to bank fish let me know and would like to meet you also if you ever come over the pass I know you live in Washington state so do I

I haven't dug razor clams in awhile. Props on not breaking one! I always seem to crack one while digging

Great video, Jordan and photographer
Another amazing video, keep up the good work Jordan! 👍😁
Is it razor clam season? Woo hoo! 🤣 Great video Jordan! ✌
What rod you perching with. Looks Okuma. I just got a new 70/30 Okuma for that. Loved it. Chucks a 4oz with ease for fishing heavy days at Long Beach.
"......we are into a hot clam bite" HA ha 😂 keep it up Jordan.
6:19 ….you didn’t need to make it personal 😂
LOL 😂😂😂 That's just a subtle reminder to all the ladies out there. If you want a man to eat that bearded clam on a regular basis, KEEP IT CLEAN!!!! LOL 🤣🤣
Good places for surf perch is where you can find a deep trough right behind the brake, especially if there is fresh water coming in close
Heck yeah buddy!!! Been impatiently waiting for you and little!! 👊👊👊🤘🤟
This is an excellent video! I have looked all over for a plastic mesh foraging bag like the one you have. Where did you get it?

"and we eat the little bastard" That was so out of the blue but hilarious!
I love it. I started surf perching and crab snaring off the beach this year. Been killing it. Just too bad it took me over 50 years to find the beach fishing fun.

You gotta show us the rest of the clam recipe and how they turn out!
You should come up to Washington this summer and team up with family. We can show you a thing or two about surf fishing.
I love your videos though and your drive and your doggie!
Great video. One question did you use fresh water or the salt water for the clams?

Thank the creator! I like it
Jordan, what setup were you using for the surf perch (rod and reel size)? I’m coming up to Long Beach this summer and want to give perch fishing a try. Love the videos!
in CA we use 2500 spinning reel, 10' light action rod and 20# braid
The baby Surf Perch 😢 Lol . Be safe in Alaska and have fun .

Great video Jordan. If you ever want to dig Graylsnd give me a shout.
What a great video ❤thanks for sharing
Have a fun and safe trip to Alaska! Don't forget your bear gun. Don't want to star in a catch n be eaten 😅
Can you just boil the razor clams like we do for regular clams?
Then we ear the little bastard!!😂😂
That part killed me too
@@BilboSandbaggins 🤣👌
I’ll bet there’s some good ol wild mushrooms in that grass there to go with that meal. A nice night cap
idea for the video: you go to an island alone (a friend takes you in a boat and leaves) and you build a raft or something similar to escape from the island
You should do some three day challenges or something like that the ten days in Alaska is gunna be sweet Im sure
Watchin again havnt seen a vid in 11days i feel like i seen an update, butttttt hope everything is good with the clan n my current favorite youtuber n his bestest buddy love to you guys n the doggos hope to see a new vid soon
Love your videos! Subscribed from NYC!
Life lesson: “clean your clam” lol.
Love your music
Have fun in Alaska!
Jordan looks ten years younger since he hooked up with Brook
Dog in the Water again. Or should I say, Jack in the water!
I thought razor clams were closed from Washington to California
Lol was that Shaun I can see in the door of the microwave trying to stay outta the shot lmao
The "guts" are actually very tasty, just don't eat them if you've just caught them earlier lol.
Gotta keep them in saltwater for atleast a day or two so that they spit out all the sand.
Be safe and have a good trip 😅
Can’t wait to see the Alaska videos you gotta hit the kenai river for some Alaskan king salmon
Pretty sure the Kenai is shut down for kings this year
@@morgankruse4666 I’m sorry but I chuckled really hard just now, salmon season isn’t closed on the kenai 😅 they only shut it down for a month then it’s open again
👍 ok, stand corrected, all I hear down here in Wa is doom and gloom about all of the Cook Inlet Chinook stocks
It's Wednesday guy's, get your popcorn and beer lol
Your content gets me off my butt. I see all that fun and I want to play. Keep slaying it 🔥❤️🤙

Ten days in Alaska fun.
Cool video! That fire in the middle of the dry tall grass made me a little nervous though
What do you use to clip your scissors to your wader belt?
Where in ak? I can't wait!
My wife wants to know if Brook likes your soup?
I loved it!
Why don't you use those octopus weights? You know the 4-5 oz weight with a bunch of wires sticking out all around it.
👍
You look like that guy from Addicted Fishing the Jordan Knigge dude
Haha that’s me!
Do you purge your clams?
Also there are 7 edible kelp near there. Also limpets,...
when was the last 20 clam limit?
The head and skin of the perch improves the stock... like with crawdad butter.... don't need to suck them, justboile them forst.
What’s the word on the Patagonia salmon video?!?!
They use mole crab for surf perch
If u dig with ur back towards the water 90% of the time u won’t crunch em
Can you fish at night?
Why scale it if you are not eating the skin?
Yummy
Whoa, when it opened I mistook it for my ex 🎉😂
