Jordan I am 54 been river fishing every fall for Salmon, last year was my year I had 1 trip I hooked 19 Chinook on my centerpin rod. My setup is a Bloodrun Skein Cane HD 13' with an amazing reel from BER in Canada I can't say enough about that reel. Would love to fish with you in Oregon.

Jordan, I love what you talked about in this video pertaining to slow days fishing or days where it's just a struggle. I couldn't agree more with that sentiment.
I see fishermen get genuinely upset about loosing a nice fish.
When I loose a nice fish, especially on a slow day it just adds to my drive to get em next time.
The slow fishing days and loosing nice fish are definitely what feeds my fishing "addiction".

Hey thanks for educating on the salmon cuz if I was just stumbling around in that creek I'd maybe think hey, I can get some big fish out of here but you gave an explanation as to why not go for the salmon. Tough fishing aside, those fall conditions in the PNW and those little rivers in the rain were absolutely beautiful. The image just conjures the aroma of decaying leaves and damp moss and soil to mind. I love it.
These are the kinds of videos I really appreciate as an angler who is primarily bank fishing. Bushwhacking and struggling to find that good piece of water is what keeps us connected to our environment. Tired of seeing float trips vids racking up 20 fish a day. I hope to see more fly fishing from Jordan in the future too!

My Dad could have showed you how to catch cutthroat. Dropping single eggs in the logs and stumps. We used to catch 20" cutthroat on the Cowlitz using my Great Grandfathers single eggs. Great video Jordan!

Love when you combine the mushroom foraging with the fishing. I forage all the time when fishing. FYI cutting any mushroom does not promote any more growth than plucking it from the ground. There are many many studies what picking vs cutting does to the mycelium and it doesn’t matter. It’s the same as picking or cutting an apple from a tree as the mushroom is only the fruiting body of the mycelium.
All that said I love cutting mushrooms simply because you get less dirt in your harvest which makes for better eating.

I came here to say the same thing... probably would of been less eloquent though. The mushroom is the fruit... you would be more likely to hurt the mycelium my walking on it than plucking the mushroom. Don't worry Jordan they come back year after year, unless the area gets logged or someone picks before you come thru haha.
Then how do you explain a chanterelle fruiting from the nub of a cut one? I have come across this many times.

I live up in AK and when the weather is brutal it is BRUTAL. Something about getting your ass kicked by mother nature is therapeutic and natural. I always have fun fishing even in the worst of conditions.
These are my favorite, I love fishing rivers and the adventure of hiking around trying to find the fish.

I recently got into fishing and this channel is God sent. Easily trumps all other fishing channels. I learned and still learning so much stuff. Techniques, fish types, bait types, tying knots, casting, etc...all super simply explained. All info my buddies couldn't teach. Keep this awesome content coming 👍👍👍 rock on gentlemen

Favorite fishing channel! I’m from Texas and really only get to fish bass so I mainly stuck to bass channels such as the googan squad guys. But finding this channel makes me want to take some trips to the mountains and get into trout fishing

I love hooking massive kings while targeting other species. It seems like the closer to the spawn they get the more aggressive they are toward a larger variety of presentations.

I have had days where I never had a bite but something as small as finding a float or a lure can make the day. It’s how it goes sometimes… can’t always go home like a blood covered caveman.
That's OK , Jordan. I don't need to see the bonking or the filleting. Most of us already know how to fillet trout and salmon...although I could use some help in zippering walleyes!

Some say pull them out and others say cut them off. Watch the deer eat them. They pull them out when they munch on chanterelles. You can do both . They still come back in the same area.
