The cost of living here is through the roof. I don’t know about the culture here either. Sure there are events, but it’s the same handful of hobby bands mostly. They say it’s an arts community, but every artist I’ve known has moved away because it’s too expensive and there’s not a lot of money put into supporting the arts. There’s also only one place to go to buy socks and underwear, and they only have white cotton undies. You end up ordering almost everything like that online. I’m pretty lonely here. There’s just not a lot going on.
First time I visited Port Townsend was around 2000. I love it's quaint appeal and went for a day of kayaking. Then I revisited it in 2010 and didn't liked it as much compared to my last visit, there was too much development and increased traffic in just 10 years.
How about a ski/snowboard hill? Anything decent nearby? Or long journey to Baker 4-5 hour drive? Or less… but I suppose that kind of trade-off goes without saying as the cost of getting to live by The Sea 😃
Not 4-5 hours. Closer to 3 and a half. But yes, it takes commitment to get to Mt. Baker. It is a ferry ride and a significant drive away. You could take up winter surfing instead.
The summers are great but last only 3 or 4 months. It is a tourist town with older residents so there is absolutely no night life and no employment opportunities. In the winter the town shuts down by 6:00pm and it is wet, cold and windy . It also gets dark at 4:00pm in the winter time. Other than that it is great. If you move here don't worry we do have a suicide hotline. The deer will eat your garden.
I suggest you move to Seattle. It will be much more to your liking with the drug addicts, homeless, and street walkers. Very exciting and nightlife never ceases. 😂
There used to be only like a handful,I seen one homeless dude at the dock catching crabs and boiling them in a little propane heated pot 😂 for the most part they don't bother you and aren't standing on corners begging for money
As I was raised in Port Townsend I left at age 17 when I returned I only stayed 5 years before I could not handle the people and the entitlement mindset. Not to mention all the drugs and how your hard earned money will pay to run the homeless camp. This is not the same town I grew up in nor is it safe anymore.
You are being hyperbolic. The drug problem is no more than anywhere else in the USA. Also, the homeless do not take up a huge amount of tax resources. Yes, there is some cost to support less fortunate, but it largely comes from charity donations and only a very small amount from any local taxation. Homeless are everwhere in the USA, and it is a cultural problem, not a local one. .......and yes, I was born, raised, left, moved back, and currently live here.
I live in Sequim but i love Port Townsend. So much history, art, and culture. IMO, the weather is also better and the people are kinder.❤
Thank you Julie. I am working on a video that covers Sequim, Port Townsend, and Port Ludlow.
@@GinnyEricksonWhat about Port Hadlock/Chimacum?
love love love! great information, thank you!
Thank you Suz!
Thank you Ginny! I am moving here in just three short weeks!
If you need help, give me a call.
Thanks for the video! It was really informative!
What are the real estate taxes like in Port Townsend? What are the annual taxes on a $500 thousand house?

Pros:it’s not Port Angeles
Cons:my sister won’t stop talking about it
Don't see any link to your relocation guide. How do I find it?
Here's the link. mailchi.mp/0c6cdc3b03be/port-townsend-relocation-guide
I love PT! What about the longer drive to get to an airport? And the long drive to get to the city?
The drive to the airport is about 2 hours and depending on traffic and the ferry schedule it is 2 to 3 hours to Seattle.

How’s health care? Where’s the nearest hospital?
On the hill with a view of the town. Jefferson Hosp.
The pulp mill stinks, but the town is lovely.

Agree with the lack of night life. Feels like I’m playing as The Rookie in Halo 3 ODST.

@@JohnLee-db9zt Great contrast!
Cue the music “so out of touch”
Does Port Townsend have homeless people sleeping on the streets?

Weed legal here. A huge plus.

Same with Longview down South from Townsend. Getting dangerous now :(

i don’t know what it is but you’re a cute lady 😊
And don't forget every Tom, Dick and Muhammad has a Kamala Harris sign in their front yard. Lots of occult activity as well.
Better than that pussy grabber who has a lot of cult followers 😂
Oink oink from California
Stay in California.
