Gorgeous couple, sooo precious, especially her. I hope she finds happiness in Denmark, very different from her Australian homeland, a major adjustment, and a challenge I pray she can meet.
Has anyone of you noticied that the little brother, Joachim, gave a handkerchief to his big brother, Frederik, while whitening of the bide to be: Mary. - Sweet gestus. And we are to know that Joachim at that time was to know what the danish people were not to know: his mariage with Alexandra from Honkong was finished. Although a brother to an other behaves like a gentelman and takes care of him.
@tiredofphailspelling > Hahahaha, that's so funny! I know someone already corrected you, but I couldn't help but laugh! It does sound the same though, if you don't know the languages - Danish and Dutch. And some Danish people can actually to a point read Dutch. But it's not the same at all xD
@angelavoots1971 Well try reading a Danish newspaper or something, some of it actually makes sense, since the frisian languages and Danish are quite similar, that's where we get our odd accent from, which makes it hard for Norwegians and Swedes to understand us...
@DoctorLawyerWhatever Completely false! In Denmark several studies have been made, and all of them conclude that the Danish royal family, earn more money (via. turism, publicity, tabloids etc...) than they spend.... It's the best kind of publicity for such a small nation - and it's just part of our culture!
Frederik and Mary are actually self -supporting from their private family business They have only taken their Royal stipend twice --once to pay for their wedding and once to modernize Frederik IX Palace. The Royal wedding brought in millions of Krone for Denmark because of Tourism. Her clothes advertise the Danish Fashion Industry and are their 3rd biggest export. Or perhaps you would rather have President Trump in December 2020?
No. She started learning Danish ,when she went to work there a year before they got engaged. People going to live and work in Denmark get tuition in Danish for 2 days a week, and work for their firm for 3 days a week , with the Government paying 2 fifths of their salary. Our neighbour's son has moved to Copenhagen and has been learning Danish for 2 years > Sarah says it will take him 3 more years to become fluent.
@astridbelge exactly! monarchy should not be legal, they do only exist because of the hardworking people around that country who pay taxes for so this kind of people can live in luxury! ashamed of you people!
@mbud84 like any other countries, denmark also has poor people, despite its welfare system a rose by any other name is still a rose, spending the tax money on personal enjoyment like wedding, an endless stream of designer shoes clothings, holidays, if that's not corruption, then the word has no meanings. at least the spendings of the republican presidents are monitored, who monitor royal spending?
The Danish taxation is incredibly high, even for a Keynesian welfare state, taxes are aimed to benefit all, and should not be thrown away so recklessly, such as $28 millions for a single family to enjoy.
Denmark made millions of Kroner out of this wedding. It more than paid for itself. Frederik paid for their honeymoon out of his own resources .Frederik is very proud of his country. In 2018 ,Frederik said that his whole Modus Vivendi (motive for living) is " His wife, his marriage, his home, his children, and his family. He then said My wife and I will serve the people and the Country of Denmark, when it is our turn to take over as King and Queen. What a wonderful example to the people of the world ,especially to the people of America, on this day when hooligans are trying to lead a Revolution in America--6th January 2021
I can not see the glossy surface I can only see the millions of taxes behind it personally speaking, I'm from Canada, such extravagance with public money will undeniably provoke public outrage not to say the millions of deficit they suffer year after year before you swoon over fairytale, think about the harsh reality danes pay 37% of taxes
I'm not even danish, and this still warms my heart. Good fortunes to them!
Awwh, I remember watching this live. Both my mother and I were a bit teary eyed ;P
Mary and Frederik make such a beautiful couple. :)
Gorgeous couple, sooo precious, especially her. I hope she finds happiness in Denmark, very different from her Australian homeland, a major adjustment, and a challenge I pray she can meet.

@@sheilanixon4479 she speaks Danish even before they get married. She is already learning before they got engaged.
@20031200 That's an american tradition, not a Danish one :)

Fashion designers pay for what Mary wears and then they rake in the money from the copies sold in Denmark and other countries, notably Germany
Kki

these good things are the results of good welfare policies, not the presence of monarchy.
