I can’t tell what the heck is even happening in matches anymore . 18 health bars for players minions totems summoned pets . . . Tracking 40 CDs . . It’s just out of control . I basically get my eyes blasted with 800,000 flashing pixels and find myself being trying to understand what’s happening over actually playing the game .

Venruki, at 13;51 time stamp you talking about, people being comfortable, cleaning heroic and "ok im done", or getting 1800 rating in pvp and than "im done". you said it's something that they feel is easy to achieve for them. Tell me please, how many people in season 2 dragonflight got 1800 in PVP. 10%? 15%? from total player base. something like 1800 should be achievable by 50% of player base. a happy median. so is heroic raid. specifically for season 2, i took 5 toons to 1800 (plan to do 2 more). you probably did more and took them, higher, but, didn't you notice that average joes are boiling in 1200-1600 rating cauldron? they get no rewards there, only crap off pieces mogs, that no one care about anyways. And people who play at 1800+, they are by no means average, every other shuffle lobby i see dudes pulling out glad mounts from previous expacks. Also why i mention average joes so much, that's because they are the ones who are a majority and generally if retained properly keep player pool healthy. games can't run just off 5% sweaty nerds. this is how wild star died back in the days.

I would think that it might also have an impact on game design in general, as more experienced players would be able to brainstorm together. Without a healer on your team 2s, 3s, and BGs can't be won(unless you do RBGs with 9 Augmentations), and with the healer shortage being so severe, players must play as a healer or suffer very long wait times looking for healers. The healer shortage could lower dps/tank player attempts to participate, but likely not enough to correct the healer to non-healer ratio needed to have a consistently shorter time spent putting viable groups together. This is even affecting casual play, like non-rated content. It is not uncommon to have a queue ready and join a regular BG just to find you have no tank on a flag map which can be fine, but also that you only have one healer. Whatever team is lucky enough to have 2 healers will likely win team fights and the overall map objectives.

  • @dijn0
    @dijn0 Год назад +8

Blizz kept listening to the high end playerbase. "More mechanics, make the game engaging!". It's become an abomination. Raid healing is a breeze, m+ and pvp healing are panic attacks. Healing is awful, so healers quit. Without healers, the game can't function. Not pve, not pvp.
When you add more mechanics, it adds obstacles for all players. Some of those obstacles are actually insurmountable for certain specs. Warrior dps does good damage, but it doesn't have the answers to mechanics that exodia has. For example: Warrior has rallying cry on a 3 minute cd that gives 15% for their party to help mitigate a particular mechanic. That's it. Contrast it with augvoker: Obsidian scales 2 charges 1.5 minute recharge 10% group hp AND a 2 minute 20% group DR with zephyr. No one is taking a warrior over an augvoker. Sure, they CAN complete higher level dungeons, but why would one of those teams completing higher level dungeons take a warrior when they can make their lives easier by taking a mage or an spriest or augvoker.
They need to simplify this game. Classic is popping off compared to retail and the game is super simple. That's not a coincidence. The vast majority of players are dps, and the most stressful jobs are tanking and healing. When you're adding a billion mechanics to an already stressful job, they stop playing. The tank/healer population is getting decimated which then causes the inflated queue times for everyone else in both pve and pvp. These constraints must be relieved or we'll see a continued decline in the playerbase.

    • @ohgeezrick2019
      @ohgeezrick2019 Год назад +1

In my experience having played all 3, tanking is pretty chill if you know the mechanics, dps is dps, and healing sucks when your groups don’t perform proper mechanics which in pug groups there will always be one. Basically you’re there to fix everyone else’s mistakes and when and if you make one everyone is boned and it “looks” like your fault. It’s not a rewarding role to play at the moment which is why I quit healing to tank and dps.

    • @wooptidoo3525

You nailed it my guy, I agree with everything you said.
I am mainly a pve player, and my simple goal always was to just gear up my character to the max, and have fun raiding with my friends/guild. Nowadays progging mythic is more like a job rather than playing a video game, where you need to study logs, practice rotations for different scenarios, learn all the complex mechanics, etc.. Even the raiding hours are stressful with how much focus it requires. And ofc I'm not even going to bother with some garbage normal/heroic low ilvl gear that noone wants.
So I realised that retail is basically just not designed for players like me. Instead, I went over to Classic/BC/Wrath where I can just login for raid hours, no logs, no practice, minimal mechanics, and have infinately more chill time raiding, while also getting the best gear in the game (which is the most basic goal of anyone playing an mmo)!!

I just feel like there is no way to fix the "30-40 min Que" problem if Solo Shuffle is reliant on a traditional 3v3 (2 Dps, 1 healer) style. There just aren't enough healers and I don't think Blizzard, nor the community wants to make Healer Bots to fill the void. So the only way is to make que's faster in my opinion is to have 3 DPS vs 3 DPS when there are no healers to QUE. Ive been in some Solo lobbies around 1800 where there are no healers but two tanks on each side. They should just do 3 dps vs 3dps to speed up QUEs. I think the dynamic is not as good as the traditional method but people would be having way more fun hopping in a lobby that's more zugzug/dmg dealing vs waiting 30 min for the more traditional 3v3 style.

Honestly, as someone who has played since 2008 I will tell you the one thing most responsible in my opinion for the decline of players since the peak of 12M in 2010 is the ongoing separation of the playerbase into tiered skill groups.
This started in earnest with Cataclysm Dungeons and RBGs. The introduction of RBGs split the PVP playerbase in a terrible way. In random BGs, there were suddenly too many bads and not enough goods to whip everyone else into shape, or to even bring balance. The best PVP fans were now in rated BGs with their friends, creating two distinct groups of PVP players who no longer wished to play with each other.
Cataclysm heroic dungeons were a substantial increase in challenge from WotLK dungeons. This further split players into those who would run heroics only, and people who would only run normals. Another group just said nevermind to dungeons completely. Now, the players who most excelled at 5-man content were off in groups by themselves, instead of helping and teaching and inspiring other players to do better or try harder. This is important because, remember, early WoW's success was based upon community - not individualism.
Then Blizzard further divided players with Heroic raids. It wasn't enough to have 10 and 25 man version - now we had four tiers of raiding, splitting raiding players into four distinct populations. A lot of folks just said, meh, "I'm no longer interested in raids" and this was after a period of growth in raiding players over the course of WotLK.
And from there we all know where it goes - Mythic. PVE players are split into between 4-6 different populations for raids. 3 different populations for dungeons. 2 distinct PVP groups. Everyone else is out doing world content or transmog hunting, solo. It sucks, really.
And then they added Classic creating yet ANOTHER separate player population.
The best thing Blizzard could do for community growth is to bring players of different skill levels back together to the same content. There should be one BG queue. One LFD queue. One version of raids. At this point, I'm not sure it's even possible.

Interesting that both Venruki and Asmongold both stopped Mythic raiding during Legion. Honestly, both M+ and raid difficulty have just gotten way too hard. Why even develop raiding with 1 % of the WoW population (mythic raiders) in mind, it does not make sense. Also M+ during Legion was just so much fun. Easy runs and lots of loot. Now? M+ is stressful, punishing, wait for healer to join forever (because no one wants to heal due to stress) and you don´t even really get loot you can use after a run, but instead gotta pray to the weekly vault for slow upgrades.

      I don't get this mentality
Mythic rading doesn't have anything to do with you, it's not developed for the 1%, raiding is developed for HC, it is then scaled down to normal and LFR, and scaled up to Mythic, it isn't like the whole raid is redesigned around those that enjoy that difficulty, it's just a new mechanic + tighter numbers.
Why do you let it get to you? I don't play it, you don't have to play it either, just like you don't have to play LFR; stay in the one that is right for you.
Same with m+, keys scale however high you can push them, you can get fully geared from 16s though, can you do a 16? I'm fairly sure you can unless you have some learning disability, why do you care that 27s are hard?

The game as you stated allows anyone to essentially get almost max gear by running m16 and upgrading them with crest, and even always has 1 or 2 dungeons that are much easier then others, so almost anyone with a modicum of awareness and basic knowledge can farm those , get crest and improve the gear ... and does not even give better reward beyond m20. but apparently many will only be satisfied by doing 25+keys or mythic raiding because that is what they see in streams and videos and they want to be "the big man on campus" even when they have no place or the motor and mental features do so.

just need class design to have even atleast SOME sort of resemblance of how it was during Cata-MoP era:
#1) Games had the ability to be fast, but also the ability to be slow. (look at #3)
#2) Class design had so much potential & there was so much outplays & cc if coordinated correctly (and in return so many ways to survive & defensively outplay as most classes).
#3) You didnt need to press 1000000APM just to feel like ur doing something (and even then, most of the time it feels like im doing nothing relevant until the next "go" currently on retail) Buttons just don't mean anything, until suddenly someone's HP goes 80 to 15%, its a strange interaction/flow that the balancing currently has, hard to articulate perfectly.
#4) Poor balancing in general, seems like theres always something thats stupidly OP -- You had WW monk taking ppl 60-0 at the start. Then feral doing absurd damage to 3 targets like some sort of melee aff-lock (while also being one-dimensional and having next to no CC, simply a damage class which is a shame considering the skill/outplay feral used to be able to do), then you had the Ret Pala fiasco, Dragon/DK 1shot, etc. Just always some stupid 1shot.
tldr; move class design / pacing / balancing atleast a small portion toward the Cata ish / MoP ish era, and build it from there would be a good start. Or atleast just do SOMETHING different in these departments for retail, what their currently doing is obviously not working.

Feral multi-bleeding and intentionally NOT speccing clone and being rewarded for that playstyle is dumb.
Ret pala... lets be honest nobody can have any defense against this.
      These are just some examples.
And yes, there are some classes / combos that you can do on Wrath that is similar, but on Wrath its less consistent, and most classes have a good kit / high outplay to where you have many avenues to deal with these things (which means the enemy HAS to set it up properly or those "1shots" dont lead to anything relevant). For retail that isn't really the case, it's all about mashing ur keys, pve pve pve pve pve 1SHOT... The pacing is extremely awkward.

I commented this to Izen's video too. But here is my story:
I liked this expansion at first, I love dragonriding and the new profession system (earned ~10 million gold, never had this amount of gold). But there are 4 very big problem for me and eventually I left because of that.
1.: Most of the rotations are weird, many classes feels like halfdone/alpha state even the meta ones (not speaking about power, just purely the gameplay smoothness). The talent tree feels very good at leveling but packed with annoying/stupid/very bad things and "dead end" routes at max level. Many class needs rework badly (just to be fun atleast).
2.: The class balance is dogshit. Half of the classes are literally dead. It wasn't good before but augmentation made it even worse, simply took away 1 dps spot from m+. I have BFA flashbacks when 2 rogue+DH was the meta 3/4 season, but somehow this feels even worse.
3.: The actual content is very few / achievable too fast. Usually when the catalyst is coming out most of the players already left the season (delaying the catalyst is a stupid thing too).
4.: Healing is a very bad experience. I am ok with the "healers should heal" mentality, but they needs proper tools for it. The incoming damage went high and you have 6-8 weak heal instead of 2-3 strong. Less healer => less group => less player.
+1 bonus reason: Blizzard does not give a fuck (seems like it atleast) / playing a totally different game.

For us working folk, I'd pay a premium to keep the gear - I already worked for - relevant. I've got a sort of similar story tho at a much lower scrubby lever. I bought the game in August to do pvp and started doing BG and arena skrims after dinging 70. The gameplay was good and I really liked my spec. It was fun for a while getting the gear and getting better at playing my spec, but then it started to feel increasingly repetitive and sort of moot. So I decided to try solo shuffle - I did my homework, got the addons, watched the videos, reworked all of my keybinds at a great cost to my sanity - and I queued for 35min only to get yelled at and flamed for "literally ruining everyones game". Fuck that sweatshop noise. There're hundreds of other games out there with a fraction of the cost and the time investment requirements and don't leave you feeling like you've just suffered through an extra shift at an awful job after getting home from work. I tried going back to BG and skrims, but it wasn't the same anymore, so I just dropped the game let the sub run out. A pity, since I really like the gameplay of the spec.

Reason Number 1 that is KILLING the game, BY FAR, is waiting for a group. Adding to that is the meta issue.
I really think that they should just introduce random grouping (like shuffle) for all brackets of Rated PVP and M+ just based on rating and MMR.
Lets Imagine for a second if League of Legends had the same LFG system.
I bet it will take 30 minutes to start a game.
Everyone will always be checking history, looking for a guy that plays the meta laner and has a winning streak.
If you wanted to play a squishy top or an off-meta agresaive support or any kind of offmeta pick you just will not ever get to play or you will have to wait forever for a group to play with lesser experienced players.
First it kills the divercity and second just puts off the average player that has 2 hours in the evening to play and just wants to get into a game and have fun.
So ultimately 2/3 of players will quit and just go and find something thats a better use of their time.
I dont agree with the premise that most players play PVP with the goal to achieve certain rating and then do something else.
Firstly we just want to login and play competitive matches and then rating just matters,so that you can actually play with more skilled partners and face better opponents.
There is a short made by nag

For me, I cannot stand this sort of "flavor of the month" PvP meta that has seemingly pervaded DF PvP. I am a class specialist, and when my class performed well, I had a good time, but it seemed for only like periods of 2 weeks before a weekly tuning patch would completely nerf it to the ground, and some other class would rise in prominence, for, again, 2-3 weeks before it was nerfed (again), repeating. I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing, a lot of people like what Blizz calls an "evolving meta", but for me, it looks a hell of lot like 1) not taking the proper care to balance classes properly in PTR because they can always throw a balance patch here and there as they watch the numbers (Most recently Aug evoker, previously Ret pally during their rework, etc. etc.) and 2) An intended effort by Blizz to get players to swing between classes because they made alting so easy (Look at Pika, he's picked up like every class in the last 3 months). No PvP player can have the security of mind that their class won't get fiddled with if something "gamebreaking" (aka fun/good/cheesy, whatever) is discovered. Like, Mitchjones, for example. The guy is goofy, but seriously a genius when it comes to class optimization and creativity. Where is he? back to classic, bc Blizz nerfed all of the fun builds he discovered. It's annoying. In previous expansions, if a class was good, or a specific stat/build setup, it was usually just set in stone and players had to devise counter builds/comps, which is good for the game because it encourages creativity. Instead, people just whine now, and blizz capitulates under the guise of "listening to the community".

In legion i loved M+ it didn't feel like i was completely burned out after 2 dungeons, i could sit and grind dungeons for 8 hours straight without breaking a sweat.
Now in DF i run 2 dungeons and i'm completely mentally drained.
It feels like i have to focus like i was fighting for my life.
It's just not fun with that level of "difficulty".

I'd be interested to see the age demographic of WoW's audience. My theory is that there are limited new entrants to the game, and the player base is largely like me - people who got into it in the early-mid 2010's when we were in our teens and early 20s. Now, we've all aged out. I've got a full time job, wife and kids, 31 years old, and when I have a few hours a week for video games I play something that's 'instantly' fun - a Halo multiplayer session or Diablo. Going in and doing the chores of WoW is no longer an option for me.
If WoW developed a 'log-in and play' mode for Arena and battlegrounds, I'd play all the time. I'm convinced it has the best PvP gameplay of any game that's ever been made, but it's not possible for me to keep up, stay geared, and have fun w/o getting wrecked by people above me. Even if I have the time, I have no clue what quests/storylines/gear upgrades I need to make! It's too complex!

I think being loyal tona Game is good, because that means its fun and you like it. I wish WoW would be that Game again but it isnt, too many problems. Gameplay,Systems, Artstyle change etc .
I love having a "Main" Game and occasionly playing something else, but WoW dosent have an direction, every year more loot bombardment, more raids and zones that become pointless.
There is no sense of adventure. Runescape still has it for me and gave me the old mmo feeling back i years ago in WoW.

I went from having the most fun I’ve had playing WoW in years in 10.0.5, to literally considering quitting a week after 10.0.7 dropped. Still taking a break with how deflated MMR is right now after hitting duelist, but we’ll see how things go. Not feeling super motivated to dive back in.

Disc priest was the same thing for healers. This has been the absolute worst FOTM rerolling expansion I've ever seen in my life. If your not playing the S tier class of the patch then your only going to ever play into it. Low class viability, terrible balancing, long periods before they fix anything. Putting on my tin foil hat here, but I wouldn't be surprised if balance swings like these weren't intentional just to get players to buy character boosts/wow tokens.

From a PVE standpoint, I'm in a heroic aotc guild. After getting aotc and KSM I fully geared 2 characters to about 440+ ilvl and that was weeks ago. Now, just waiting for new raid.
From a PVP standpoint, I don't like regular arena, every time I try to do solo shuffle its a 20-30 min queue, and RBGs are fun but takes forever to get into a consistent group...10.2 bringing solo queue RBGs is gonna be cool, but will likely have the same issue as solo shuffle.
I often hear that the content cadence of DF is fast, I'd argue it's not fast enough. There's no denying that patch to patch is like a soft reset and you are replacing all your gear, why have such large gaps in between new raids and dungeons? Content droughts are the worst.

  • @frmtheden

Idk why they dont just create 2v2 Solo Shuffle for just DPS or even 3v3 DPS only until they fix how dmg is happening and how to heal that makes healers feel really bad. If damage wasnt so bursty I really feel that healing would be better.

its simple .. The World in World of Warcraft is no more. Its just a small island theme park that takes to much grinding effort to play.
there is quite litterally no world to participate in as soon as ur friends are not online. The game is so boring on its own.. Im not a classic andy but I think classic is atleast fun alone, cus its not fast phased & "hard(lack of a better word) or time consuming"
    - Watching the end - I almost can guarantee u, that World PvP is the answer. And im not talking about the "world quest grp world pvp" im talking about high level zones that are a place to pvp in a massive world that has been created over almost 20years.. Yeah.. no lets stick to Islands and make other players invisible.... And lets seperate max level players & new players from one another, give them each a capital city to hang out at.

For Solo Shuffle, what are our thoughts about 2v2 DPS queues? Probably as a separate rating, or maybe an average of 2v2 and 3v3 as one rating, but you'd queue for both to ensure the 3v3 shuffles are not more barren than what they already are. The logistics and everything might be a nightmare but if our goal is to get players into an arena, then maybe treating it a little bit like skirms but rated. You can only give healers so many incentives to queue in, me being one of them, before they're tired. I'd love to play more of my lock and hunter, but that 20-30 minute queue, unless Im lucky, is rough especially when you have that insta queue that pops.

Might be worth noting that we aren't done with season 2 of DF yet, so those numbers he used still have a decent amount of time to go up, feel like this is worth mentioning especially considering we are using the final numbers of other expansions for comparison.
Can call it copium or whatever, but I just looked at the same sample size search criteria for DF season 2 and it has gone up 50,000ish within just over a day of this video being posted. That's pretty significant imo. Say we have another 30 days of 10.1 (for the sake of example), 50k every 1.5 days would add another 1,000,000 to season 2 sample size.
I don't know how or if it's going to grow, but saying that its decreased 63% and then comparing to other finished season, isn't really fair until this season is over. And no, I'm not trying to say that this season is doing amazing.

Why is nobody bringing up the fact that the game has adopted seasons and call them "patches"? Wow used to be a game where every patch was relevant from beginning to end, across an expansion. Now every patch is there to bring in new players. Leaving old players doing the same things as every other patch in just a reskinned format. Why do you need to get fully geared every tier? Why can't we have progressive raiding? Make them easier, less overdesigned (Which btw nobody looks or cares about anyways).

  • @Mister_Vintage

Mythic raiding is awful. First of all every slot/spec is dictated by the mechanics. Play a spec that is not meta? Tough shit - see you next raid, maybe. Second up, the preposterous amount of addons *required* is beyond stupid. Thirdly, stack on purple on purple on purple underneath 20 or 30 layers of spells being cast by the players and you might as well play with your eyes closed. The visuals in this game are basically meaningless. (hence the addon bloat) Yeah, I quit in the middle of the so-called "WoW renaissance" and I am clearly not alone....lol

The thing is private wow servers do not even bother with fixing old expansion content anymore also. They are too lazy to fix an expansion over the course of a year even with low staff. Since the old expansions have too much bloatware scripting and bugs to fix it is a mundane hassle. They just focus on online shop and instant gear and mounts and follow same blizzard pay to win concept now. Even if they push out a dragonflight server for themselves it will not make much of a difference also
