What amazes me is that this feedback has been out there for over a year and yet little to no response from blizzard. At this point they are just ignoring the PVP community.
@@dabiun7443yeah…. I second what the other guy said. PvP is in the shitter because of folks like you :P I bet you flame healers in solo shuffle. Just keep telling folks to “git gud” and watch how that makes them immediately better!
But some how when you get lucky and get the person that sticks “especially a healer” they are 500+ rating then you and really good. Probably playing a resto Druid as well.
I've been saying this for years. No one wants to play into full 3 stack pro player teams or full 3 stack streamer pro teams non stop when relying on the LFG system, you will get destroyed. There needs to be a solo queue option for real 3v3 arena. I personally used to get Gladiator every single season but as we get older, its harder to find the commitment and time to grind for hours. I am still a highly competitive player when I do find the time to play, but it's just undoable at this point with LFG. Everyone just lies about their experience, they arent willing to put in the time as a team and progress like the good ol' days. That's what PvP was a couple to few xpacs ago, you learned as a team over hundreds if not thousands of games throughout each season.
With age our reaction times slow compared to a teen. They keep introducing faster and faster paced content. It's overwhelming at times with multitasking too. I think sod has been fun because you can focus on tasks.
and the fact that you have to have 100 addons to be able to compete imagine league of legends or any other comp game has addons where it shows the cd over every single cd. Just have to accept the fact wow is casual.
The fact that we share the exact same experience and thoughts on this stuff is mind blowing to me, because i thought i was one of the few that was thinking this way, and when i say stuff like this on people’s live streams, the chat dick rides the streamer for saying solo shuff is fun to them(which is fine, i just don’t like it because comps are random af it’s chaotic af for example pikas video where it was 4 dhs and 2 rdudus…not much fun or skill is included there plus solo shuff is probably fun for certain classes, i wouldn’t know for sure because i don’t play it at all but that’s how it seems to be and what i can hear from other people and see stuff about it on the internet), and they bash me for saying that it ruins the game because i don’t wanna play against awc players all season non stop(i do with the main team, not when i just wanna push some rating or have fun with randoms in the lfg and get farmed all day whilst im waiting for irls but i guess that’s what alts are for, but then again i don’t have as much time to sit all day and play wow like i used to and im still trying to be as competitive as i possibly can because im always competitive no matter what i do or what game i play) and that we need solo Q for real 3s arenas instead of lfg(because the system is just dogshit), or even solo shuff especially when irl friends are offline because i think solo shuff is taking away a lot of players from playing 3s arenas, and then the braindead chat proceeds to tell me that adding solo Q for 3s is basically the same as solo shuffle lmao…fucking unreal. I remember when i used to go outside of the main cities to duel people and ask them to make a team to play arenas, it just hits different thinking about how nice it was back in the good ol’ days unlike nowadays where everything is simplified but not even in a good or a right way lmao…also i think majority of the addons should be removed especially weak auras and shit like that…let’s make the game more raw and skillfull instead of making the game play for you, and let bots be decent or even good at the game instead of putting in the time and effort to learn the game properly like we all did back in the day…i don’t know i could be wrong i could be salty but that is just my opinion…fix the pvp matchmaking, remove solo shuff and lfg and add solo Q for real 3s and 2s arenas thank you…or keep everything but make it much better which i don’t know how they would do it tbh.
As a dad gamer now. I'd love to sit down and chat with you about all these topics. I think, I don't know but assuming, your thoughts on what an average player is like blows my mind. I highly highly doubt an average player is 2k+ right now. I'd guess most people are like 1200 to 1600 right now unless you have so much more time. Im lucky to get an hour to play a day compared to you who's job it is to play. Of course I'm gonna be very behind you, I understand that but if my que is an hour long n I have an hour to play every day. Well then what?! I feel like that's most of us right now =/
they honestly need to just blend all the queues together and instead of SS just have like a ranked arena skirmish style game so we can have more players, i'm in the same boat that if i wanna play my dps characters it ends up being faster for me to just spend 15-20 minutes in LFG instead of waiting for one dps queue pop for SS. This way if i have to step away for a sec i dont just miss the queue and have to requeue.
@ubersfirepew3588 I was a dps player but legit just made healers this expand for the shorter ques. Now I'm enjoying healing as it's something I've never done before but just the fact I can "play the game" more then just sit in ques. There are so many problems with the game in general but not being able to play is the biggest one I think.
I don't know a whole lot about this content creator, but I'm almost positive you're not his target demographic. People who are on the casual dad side of things generally aren't making videos about high end PvP.
I love this kind of video . Keep making them . Your a 1% but you always understand us casuals that play wow for the love of the game and not the achievements. I used to watch a lot Stoopzz videos when he talked of how bad wow was before he quit wow , You could tell that he cared like you do
I always appreciated Stoopzz. His videos were part of the reason I tried doing arenas serious for a couple seasons, and a lot of his points really hit home with me.
Personally I have high hopes for the Solo Rated BG system maybe in 11.0. Arena always felt too hard for a more casual pvper because you need too much knowledge about comps and countercomps etc and also the finesse of each arena map. Battlegrounds always felt more fun because it's more a team effort and a single players mistakes usually don't cause the team to lose.
@@frenchdream330 I used to play a lot of BGs even on alts when it still felt like a good way to get decent gear and have fun in PvP. Getting into RBG might have been fine but it's hard to commit to a schedule because usually a guild like that would have one and I have a full-time job so I play more during weekends and randomly during the weekdays.
Just another reason I love Ven. The ability to be vulnerable and speak about things that most players would rather not speak out on. Or they're just to worried about how itll look if they point out the negative or give criticism of the game they play for a living. Always solid content. Funny when it needs to be and serious if he has to be. Thanks for the insight Elliot! P.S. you have awesome taste in music as well lol
Game is fun and the balance is reasonable, but deflation is SO discouraging; even at less than 2K rating in 3s, every other game is against an R1 and that just... ruins the experience for all of us. We're playing ONLY to cap our vault and in the hopes that the later part of the season will be better than this. If it's not, then I'm not sure how I'm supposed to motivate my friends to keep playing after this season.
Thats because theres just not enough playeras, people don't play because they don't like the current state of the game or have better options to play (classic or SoD) I personally don't play because casters are dominating, everytime casters are strong meta becomes boring, specially when warlock are OP, I rather play anything else.
exactly. most people only play arena because it is mandatory to gear properly. 90% of the playerbase does not even give a damn about it if it weren't for the gear. It has always been like that, yet arena players seem to think they are entitled to massive dev attention, while bg pvp has gotten none of that in ages.
Thank you for making this man. My friends all get excited to arena at the start of every season and then run into glads at 1600 mglads at 1800 and r1's beyond that. Then they get tired of arena and miss the feeling of progression and then they all quit. And everyone says "just come back at the end of the season" but lots of people don't ever come back, they just find other games or pve content. Blizz has done this pathetic system all of DF. It's killing arena
the playerbase is also killing arena dont worry, i tried healing in Solo shuffle 1 time... i failed at 1 fight and immediatley got cursed at and name called. after 17 years of wow i really hate others. and i mean i really hate them. so i instantly stopped Solo shuffle and deleted the healing character. ill stick with my RL friends to Mythic+ dungeons and other games. because the toxicity in this game is just beyond League of legends standards these days. i dont have to take shit from people in reallife and especially not from in a game. i wont think twice.
Just came back into Retail since a long ass time. Was also really excited about SoD. For some reason Retail is keeping me engaged and I find myself wanting to play that more then SoD. Arenas are a blast and im hooked.
retail gameplay is insane, thats why sucks so much that it's almost impossible to get a reward from it, nobody would care anything about a bad pvp reward system of a trash game. and if u dont seek for glad/r1 there is literally nothing bad in your game experience (maybe shuffle dps ques, but u can do a lot of things during ques, like finding lfg rated 3s or 2s)
My characters with 1 year play time in game I deleted in Retail. I just can't see myself ever playing it again and I play WoW for PvP. The PvP has been atrocious for several expansions. They keep adding abilities or Classes that don't work for WoW. The game is overly convoluted we really need WoW 2 and a hard reset returning characters/design to a simpler time. Class design in Retail is horrific and there aren't Class roles. I rather play SOD or Wrath and enjoy good ole fashioned PvP. Classic + is the future of WoW at this point because that is the base game you need to build on and you can't keep adding to Retail. It doesn't work. The next Retail expansion won't fix it. It's a death spiral.
As a vanilla wow player I actually put effort into rated pvp in legion/bfa. Rated and non rated really seemed fun with Honor icons/mounts/toys etc and gave me something to earn as I learned to become a better pvper. With that said I don't mind a long grind and realize the rewards are few and far in-between. I feel they could do more for honor levels to intice casuals to push and learn just by doing any pvp.
I'm genuinely glad you put out this video. I like to believe I'm an average player (roughy 1800 per season with occasional 2100s). Just like DF S1 (except that I had no idea about the system back in S1) I'm hardstuck at 1500 with my buddy with whom I play 2s and it blows my mind that we can't even reach the most basic rating requirement for the tier piece. We fight duelists/glads every other game. We were talking about how frustrating this is and I came to the decision that this is the last time I'll be doing PvP early season. It's an immense waste of my time. Thx for sharing your thoughts.
I haven't played arena that much, I got 2,1k in TBC, played until 1800 in shadowlands and now I play at 1600 but it doesn't matter at all for me. Still love the game regardless of my rating 😊 just wish the ques would be faster in soloshuffle. Love your videos btw! Good stuff
Solo Shuffle queues are pretty brutal. I sat in a 40 min queue and someone dc'd before it could start. I then sat in another 40 min queue. So 80 min of queue time for 1 match
Sums up my retail experience so far. I'm a slightly above-average PvPer, where I usually float between 2200-2400.. I can't even get there because my 1900 games are flooded with R1's who are simply better than me. It's like an impossible mission that completely becomes disheartening after awhile. I've also got several alts who didn't get lucky at the vault and don't have 4 set, and honestly I've just found them to be damn near unplayable this early in the season.
"I've also got several alts who didn't get lucky at the vault and don't have 4 set, and honestly I've just found them to be damn near unplayable this early in the season." Huge problem imo, I have zero interest on playing alts who don't have tier, even the ones that it is the least help. They need to remove rng from tier, either everyone gets a tier choice in vault, or no one does.
This was my first time getting into pvp and it's left a bad taste in my mouth have to day lol managed to climb to 1600 in 2s as disc priest 262 matches roughly 50% win rate, I get im new and could be awful but the ppl I'm playing against come out the gates on SL glad mounts or DF glad mounts.. why am I in their lobbies ? 😂 it's soul destroying tho hours spent up and down in CR just to log off with less CR or the same .. rough game mode can't lie probably won't come back clearly not good enough lol
@@prod7906BS argument honestly, you don't consider food to be good unless it's cooked by a Michelin chef? Either your definition of the word "good" is skewed or you're talking out of measurements last relatable to Cataclysm, Rating is not the same between seasons these days and is hardly much of a measurement anymore. I'm not saying rating is irrelevant because it's not, it depends more on the season than the numbers tho.
@@Keyynann If someone like me can get 2700 effortlessly in non deflated then their is no excuse that the average player can't get 2400. Its' so easy and the fact that people are struggling it just shows how stupid the average wow player is. 2400 in Cata use to mean something but now the difference between a 2400 player and a 1400 player is nothing, their both equally trash. My defention isn't skewed, you just have low standards. Which means you're probaly some 2100 hero who thinks their good at the game because you have a shiny enchant.
As a 1600 healer, it sucked when I was being put into higher-ranked games. It's not that the gameplay isn't fun or engaging. It's that DPS who have been in 2+ hour queues are furious when ofc I'm not as good as them. Season 2 I was tracking 1:1 with Solo Queue games and people insulting me via whisper. Imo, the real problem is toxicity, and people not wanting to heal in the higher brackets as a result.
I think the battlepass idea is a smart way to incentivize more people to play throughout the season and if they could add it as an addition instead of a cost that would be fantastic. PvP is really the only reason I find myself playing WoW these days. Thanks for the video.
PvP “Rewards Track” is what I’d call it. Have just one track but you gain XP towards it faster as a healer. Maybe if you get “x” amount of XP rough the track AS a healer, you also get a bonus mount or something. Really gotta incentivize healers lol
I think instead of incentivizing healers, they should just turn SS into the wild west. Load into a match of 6 dps? Fuck it, we ball. 5 heals and 1 tank? Do it. These queue times aren't going to get better if you have the mode require a certain composition of players. Put different reward tracks in for themed cosmetics. Want to grab the healer set for your PvE RSham but you only PvP as Rogue? Let players do that after they finish the DPS track for the season. @@BrianKindly
with start of season 3, i planned to take DH, DK, druid, and warlock to 1800 for set. i simply dont have patience to grind higher, even though i feel like i could do 2k if i could stick to one toon only. last season i took 6 toons to 1800. i thought this season would be nice and fun. with lots of people coming back at start, so i was dead set on pushing. I have only pushed DK to 1800, it was unbearable sweat shop, no one making mistakes, one shot rogue set ups, 45 min long queues started at 1700. it was hell. i did take my DH to 1600 and warlock to 1500. DH are op i could push, but just cant handle the 45 min queues anymore. as for warlocks, them being strong and etc. i cant get out of 1500-1600 rating. mean while last season i took my lock to 1800 relatively trouble free. every game im the first to die, can't kite, can't cast..... i almost feel like kick bots are back, it's just hell. Now to druid, i wanted to climb healer, i did h pal and disc priest last season to 1800. i know how to heal, i played and mained druid multiple seasons ever since WOTLk (original wotlk). what can i say, i can;t get out of 1400 rating. i simply dont get rating for wins. like i need to go 5/6 or 6/6 flawless to gain any rating. 4/6 gives me like 2-8, 3/6 gives nothing, 2/6 i lose 25-30 rating. blizzard need to realize that 90% of player base are filthy casuals, they want to just grind shit and be happy, like in WoW classic. as long as you play, you get shit. in retail, in pvp, everything given to you for free, except shit you really want, and that is locked behind insane skill cap. in PVE, literally nothing matters except mythic raid and loot from there, but what off of it to average player, when only Method and similar no lifers can do it.
The play is so frustrating now I spend 2 hours in shuffle as a healer trying to get rating and have fun and enjoy myself and literally get 0 or +1-10 to rating for going 3-3 or 4-2 after 10 games then I have 2 bad rounds and I lose 50+ points for each round and lose 100 rating... then it takes me another 1 or 2 hours just to gain back that 100 rating I just spent 4 hours of my life to gain NOTHING on my character so why should I keep playing?
@dabiun7443 ya try playing a caster in this meta and come back to us. Sure you can be skilled but it's not fun at all. Fun is why we play video games.
What's funny is, this basically just puts us right back to where we were in Classic (and yes I was there and it was great). I've been begging for solo queue rated BGs for 15 years.
@@PhillipPresswood the present show that Classic is the best way, game has too much systems now, and the game map resumes to the expansion map, wich is way smaller, in classic you travel through all the places, biomes, its actually hard, its not completely meta focused, mutiple sets are really viable. I suggest checking out the server Turtle Wow, i even think blizzard got some ideas from them. Its the original classic with a few tweaks to make every class playable
Imagine playing a game like Mario Bros and you pass the level but you have to repeat the level until you get a certain score...that's why we're not playing anymore.
The honest reason why people don't play is because of professional players and streamers who absolutely dominate over all brackets of arena. Not only they take rank1, but also dump CR just so queue against inexperienced players. I was queueing at 1700 CR and fighting against Peekaboo. It's not a good feeling when I don't even know my spells well yet and I queue against people like Venruki.
I played a game called Vainglory back in the day. The same problem happened chasing the top of the ladder. The way Vaibglory resolved this problem was by implementing rating decay. A week of not quing would result in a 50, or a 100 point loss. Something like that. Incentivising everyone to play all season, and allowing for better season inflation
blizzard tried rating decay in the past, and came to the conclusion that people hated it because it felt bad watching your rating go down without doing anything, which is the whole point of this video, that people are not playing because they can't get to rating they are used to. I personally think decay could work for some inflation issues but only if you put decay for the top of the ladder. So When you are in R1 range (0.1%), you get decay, and decay stop when your rating fall down below current R1 range. It'd limit inflation and sitting rating at highest level without impacting average players. Doesn't really solve current issues with MMR though.
The most insane thing is how little value your time is in PvP compared to anything else. Sitting at around 1400-1600 rating makes for a 20 minute SS queue. You can host a +10, fill a party, fly to the dungeon, and complete it in the time it takes to finish a single SS match. And even if you fail the key, you can still get loot or upgrade tokens, or someone else can get gear and trade you. I have never failed more than 2 M+ keys in a row, but god damn have I done worse than 3-3 in SS multiple times in a row. Meanwhile, you spend the same time competing against players at your own skill level thanks to skill based matchmaking, you literally have to sweat your ass of every match to climb unless you get lucky and there's someone asleep at the keyboard you can abuse, and even if you GO EVEN, you can still lose score, get no Conquest, no gear, nothing. You spend 20-30 minutes and walk away with negative rating and 400 honor. You can do your part in a M+ and just be completely average and get a BiS item. You do that in SS and you lose rating, you literally have to be spectacular to climb, whether that means playing a broken class at the time or actually having years of experience over the other players. Like, imagine hosting a +10 and your group fails the timer so now you can't attempt another +10 or higher whether it's your key or not until you complete a +9 on time and no gear drops until you do so. That's what PvP feels like right now, it's actually horrendous. Deadass imagine wiping to a boss on Heroic trying to get AotC and the game says you cannot attempt the boss until you go back into Normal and kill him there and then you get another attempt. Can you imagine what that would do to the raiding scene? How few people would still touch raids? That's what SS rating feels like. You shoot up to ~1400 with ease and then it's like talking to a psych ward chick romantically where you gain 200 rating and then the next day instantly drop back down to 1400 in 2 matches. How, after 20 years, is this the only game mode that actively discourages you from wanting to continue participating in it?
@@epicstudios142536I can set up amazing chain CC and set up great kills with my kidney/smoke bomb but that won’t change my teammates standing out in the open or getting kited, it won’t make them interrupt or CC, it won’t make them play any better. When you get stuck in a bracket full of shitters that can make you go 3/6 or 0/6 and lose all your previous hours of work, you can get stuck there from the bad luck of the draw. It is a flawed system, there are great players in the 1400-1800 area that cannot progress just because of bad luck teams/matchups
You're aware the game is filled with players at different skill levels, right? Not everyone is multi rank 1 Glad Blizzcon stage performers. I'm not even complaining about having to win against people at my skill level, I just hate needing to outperform literally everyone in the lobby in order to get any rating at all. @@epicstudios142536
For me as a casual right now, it's simply not worth playing Retail. I'm at 1702 in solo shuffle. But ever since I passed 1600, the queue times are too long, and there's such little reward for getting 4 out of 6+, and so much to lose if I go anything other than 3 out of 6 at least.
@@Eradivyn I keep ping ponging from 1750 to 2080. It's an emotional roller-coaster that takes me a whole 5 hours to get rating back and only 45 minutes to tank.
My two reasons are 1: Like you said there is just no point in queueing early season, which is just a bad design choice. 2: Healing in SS still isn’t rewarding enough. There need to be more/better incentives
Speaking from personal experience this season, they've pretty clearly done something to touch MMR but in a negative way. I am a top 10 leader board shuffle Rdruid, and was 2340 CR and 2400 mmr. I record to review my games. I logged in after last week and somehow lost 200 mmr, without even queueing. Due to this I now have 5-1 games give me +1 rating, and 3-3 games give me -30. Due to this I havnt logged into my druid at all since. On top of this I'm regularly getting lobbies with 0-1k cr and low mmr after this change. I've just stopped playing until it changes again.
Honestly they should make glad attainable as easily as getting KSH. If you can do m+ 20 - 22's you should be able to get the glad mount. Make the R1 rewards better so that there is still stuff to push for the very elite but allow Glad to be attainable and PvP engagement will quadruple.
Sure he is right… r1 should get the rewards faster then avarage Players, but avarages should get them too, Maybe at the end of the Season. M+ top Players get the Mount maybe in 2 weeks, the avareges get them with the best gear at the end of the Season. So why not in Pvp? They did this with the 1800 elite set. Seattled it down from 2100 to 1800. you cant lie between 0-1800 is a blast of fun, but higher then maybe 1900 is pure cancer. You have Long que times and you play against r1 twinks.. They should put the Inflation so high at the end of the season, that the normal 1600 Player can get Gladiator at the very end of the Season. Do not come with Gladiator is nothing worth any more in Kind of exp. With this System, every new Season is a new playing Field, only the newest Rating will bring you in big blast grps and not the one from Last or older addons.. I always get my ksm, but only at the end of the season. I hate pve so i want to make it easy as possible. If a pvpler can get to pve at the end, so the pveler would do it to if the possibility to get the top rewards too. The glad mounts is a one in a life Chance, but you still get the mythic raid mounts by 1%. The System should be the Same, so the pveler would Go to Pvp at the end of a Season. Problem Solved
Writing this as a current 2021 rated Arms Warrior in shuffle with almost 200 total games already played in season 3. The current system we have in place, with hard-capped MMR, COULD work in principle. But only if the SS Q’s were significantly shorter. I typically wait for atleast 30-45 minutes for my game to pop. The time investment currently required does not meet these strict MMR caps. Class balance overall is pretty decent. But participation is low. It’s sad to see. I just want to log on after work and the baby is down and grind out some games. But currently, it’s absolutely better to just simply stop playing. I’m way better off waiting another 1-3 months. This system cannot continue.
Your only real choice is to be a healer basically, it's the only way to have acceptable queue times (and healing feels better than DPS right now to me), that or quit, queue times aren't going to become any better until Blizzard DOES ANYTHING, SOMETHING.
MMR fixes would be lovely. Also a great fix to healer participation in shuff would be uncapping the shuff rating and also giving Healer-only rewards for certain rating in shuff. like a purple tyranny enchant for healers only, id roll healer 1st time ever just to get it. Thats how i know it would work. everytime i ask anyone their thoughts on it they either say that would bother them it being healer only(implying theyd want it as a dps, increasing likelihood theyd roll healer to obtain it), or they say thats a good idea to fix these que times. I sat a 2hr que timer on my main ele in shuff the other night and i ended up logging off. its quitting worthy playing a multiplayer game that nobody else is playing.
not according to about a dozen of my glad healer buddies who claim theyll never que shuff unless theres rewards bc the dps dont respect positioning etc@@dabiun7443
The most insane thing is that there’s thousands of people who ONLY play non-rated pvp everyday (1-2min Q for Epic BGs on EU - Tarren Mill - Horde) some of these people will never care to play rated maybe, but many of these ppl do want to play, it’s just inaccessible either bcs it requires a team (RBG, 2s, 3s) or because the Q times are way too fucking long in solo shuffle. I think they should put the 2100 enchant at 1900 or 2000 and the tabard at 2100, weapons at 2200, and inflation should be way higher from the start, they NEED to fix Solo shuffle queues, and hopefully figure out Solo RBG queues, and maybe create a new reward specifically tied to rated Group queue, adding on top of that a seasonal pass which requires playing some degree of PVP to get the rewards would be pretty good too, rn the problem is appealing the casual PVPers who don’t Q rated, and PVEers, although PVEers for the most COMPLETELY ignore and disregard PVP, sadly
Rn personally my goal is to get 2100-2200 on my main every season in 3s, pushing solo as high as i can, and getting all the elite sets i want from the season for my alts, that’s how i engage with PvP, and the truth is, im currently waiting for inflation to start being significant to Q, most of my characters are in the 1600 range and im just Queing BGs and capping vaults here and there with RBGs instead of actively playing, bcs there’s no point in queuing rn, even tho i want to, im not to enthusiastic abt queing only to lose rating (at 1600/1700 mind u) from Qing into glad teams on vc etc
I really love this videos from Venruki , it clearly shows that there is still lot of love and passion for the game. As someone who loves the game still after all these years i also think that there should be more rewards and progression feeling for casual players ( ANY PLAYER who puts hours into the game) I never been R1 or Glad and my seasonal avg is around that 2100 which i am fairly happy about , solo shuffle is awesome for me as solo player these days , yes the ques are long but i love the variety and unpredictivness of the lobby ? Hate the MMR system and everything around it tho , especially as Ven mentioned in the video , i am currently 1850 in SS and all i fight are Glads and R1 which is great every now and then to really see the difference in skill , but its not fun all the time and the hardstuck feeling of it is also not great - it turns into being punished for trying to play a mode i enjoy , because i am getting into lobbies with people who have much higher skill level than i do. I agree that system should be / could be something similiar to LOL where you fight people around your rank , and once you climb ( you should be better at the game and your skill should increase as you progress ) , you then fight Golds , diamonds etc . BattlePass for some cosmetic rewards could be a good idea , but i am worried blizz will turn it into monetization tool . Anyway , much love , keep it up.
You guys dont even know what your asking. Literally every FPS game in existence that decided to appeal to casuals RUINED, absolutely RUINED , DESTROYED, the ranked system of that game. Rainbow Six Seige and Apex legends are PRIME examples. There is no Proper matchmaking and skill brackets because the game is mixing the player base in order to appeal to casuals who want a sense of "progression". The more hours and time you sink into the game, you should be rewarded with progression, regardless of whether your gamepaly or skill improved. R6 seige new rank system went from 1000 champs to 11k champs. Apex legends ranked system went form 2% of playerbase in masters, to 25% of player base in masters rank. All to appeal to casual players. IN order to get faster que times. To reward progression and time sink. Gamers are so bad with this. They ask for changes because the current system is "bad" or "sucks", and then when the system gets changed, they start whining about the new system and how it sucks. Clueless.
I came back to wow after watching blizcon. Played first week of season 3 and now having a blast in SOD. Few differences I have noticed are in retail players are really toxic. Systems in retail have become too complex.
Another reason I'm going to wait until the end of the season to play is the fact that I have to pick if I want PvE tier or PvP tier at the beginning of the season when it comes to catalyst and vault. I have to wait until I finish my PvE set before I can really start gearing for PvP and with how MMR works in the beginning of the season versus at the end, it's really only going to be a better and easier experience anyways.
Yeah it sucks that I really want to push from 2200 in 3s with my team, into 2400. But most of the season we are stuck at 1900 or 2000 because of deflation. And only for the last couple of months in each season, we have a shot of seeing our rating representing our progress. So for the very first week of a season. I'm excited to test the changes this patch came with. But then often the huge imbalance of specs that got changed, puts me off instantly. But I still play to get my vault. I don't get tier gear or a weapon, so I feel bad. Next week I also miss my shot at one more tier piece or a weapon. And now I'm stuck with 2 set against lucky people with 4set and weapons. I feel extra demotivated, being down in gear and stuck at a rating I could play a naked alt at the end of a season. So I make the logical step. I decide to play other games that I like less in terms of gameplay. For a couple of months, as I wait for blizzard to put in some inflation, for blizzard to make some balance tuning, and for catch up gearing to make it way more tolerable to gear up. That's not what I should be feeling about a game I play to be competitive. Whenever I have a feeling I want to play some League of Legends and tryhard it, there's never such an issue. It's equally fun and painful, through every season. Maybe there are rough spots in tuning in each patch or starts of seasons. But at least your ratings are not deflated artificially. At least you don't have RNG gearing that makes you feel like it's not even worth playing until everyone gets to have max gear with just conquest.
Based as usual my guy. Thank you so much for continuing to represent this community, I have to believe it'll lead somewhere positive sooner or later. For what its worth, I genuinely love the idea of a seasonal progression pass with benchmark rewards along the way, and I think that could do a ton of good if paired alongside some serious...*serious* changes to the mmr structure. I would looooooooove to see that go down
That wont bring back people like me who quit because pvp is dogshit. Too many casters being op, not even skill based climbing, its just a question of playing the right comp facing the right teams. Its awful. At least with eternal dmg source with legion bfa and SL you could make anything work with a unique build. This expansion ruined pvp for 80% of pvpers
@@DankMemes-xq2xm how does not having the best gear making people worse make for bfa pvp bad ? It’s logic that having better gear means you have an advantage on others. Its still a thing in DF, if you have honor gear you will get destroyed by conquest geared players.
@@DankMemes-xq2xm is your issue on the fact bfa gear was for all content ? So if you had the best gear it would affect pvp and pve at the same rate. How is having to farm for 2 sets of completely different gear more fun to you ? From what I saw and know, 80-90% players didn’t bother farming those 2 sets, so they either only pvp or only pve now. Arguably a worse system dont you think ?
@@mortalux because in order to be good at arenas, all you have to do should be arenas. You shouldn't have to be forced into doing Mythic+ 15 or higher in order to possibly get a trinket that is BiS for arenas, that's completely stupid. Likewise, raiders and mythic+ players would be pissed if the only way to get BiS gear was to get Elite rating in PvP. The only way BFA gear could be for all content and be fair is if raids and dungeons don't drop trinkets that are better in PvP than the ones PvP can give.
Outside of having a dedicated 3s or active PvPers to play with. You either Q solo as a dps for 40 mins or you q as a healer and get 0 rating and lose mmr for going 3-3, or lose MMR for winning 4 or 5 out of the 6 rounds
In my view, Blizzard recently mentioned they were passed the mantle by their predecessors and felt obligated to preserve the old ways. Now, when discussing the War Within, they express a desire to break the mold. I believe the same situation applies to PvP; it clings to outdated ideas from a bygone era. For PvP to evolve, it MUST undergo changes. It might transform into something disliked by many, but the reality is, if it remains stagnant, it will perish. I'd rather envision an unknown future than exist in a stagnant and decaying present.
I just got into WoW again after a long long break of being casual and found there's a weekly cap for farming conquest.................................>..>..... WHY
So much good suggestions. Agree with all of the suggestions you had at the end of the video. Just encourage all people to play and create a healthy scene. Can Blizzard just start doing something already?
Wow player and influences need to take community into their own hands and stop asking blizzard to solve our issues. We have war games and the ability to communicate
It's like Blizzard has driven the average player away from retail PvP. Only the sweatiest players remain. PvP is broken fundamentally in retail. WoW PvP is NOTHING like it was in Vanilla/TBC, which is what got me to fall in love with WoW PvP in the first place.
The battle pass idea sounds pretty solid to me. It gives people a reason to keep queuing the entire duration of a season. And it might be a good incentive to queue as a healer or alt a healer just for the extra rewards.
I think people are too obsessed with the number, the % of your standing is the same. 2k early seas, same as being prob 2700 previous season. AS long as people understand their ranking properly the raw number means nothing. Just allow everyone to see their actual # rank at all levels, instead of just 2400+
You are 100% right about them needing to add more intermediate goals to encourage participation. The game is just way worse without people playing for all levels of play. They need to trust in their game more too. Putting in this artificial time gating to keep people playing longer has the opposite impact. Also, gotta love how half the top 10 Eu are Whaz and Raiku
Recently quit. 1800+ multiclass player, and I really wanted to push 2100++ rating, but the queue times killed me. Played for around 6 months now, and tired of it all again. PvP just isn't fun rn anymore
I'm a main healer who peaked R1 during cata/mop and after the clowfiesta that was bfa and sl pvp I decided for the first time to not buy the expansion and my life has never been beter
I think the 'battlepass' type system is a good one. I think they should incorporate more glyph-type rewards that change the color of your abilities, etc. That would be super fun and would encourage a lot of people to play to get those!
I think there are multiple reasons for pvp's downfall (mmr issue, solo shuffle queue times etc) but one of the main reasons are probably the design of classes. With giving every class and spec multiple gap closers, mini stuns and mobility, they removed much of the skill expression of pvp in my opinion. This has turned pvp into just a melee filled pve zugfest that mostly rewards damage done. Arena starts and 4 melee just runs in and pops every cd in the game. In earlier expansions pvp was about using your cds in the right moments, you wouldnt score a kill if you just popped cds without combining a well timed crown control aswell. This has itself made pvp an aweful experince for healers which leads to longer queue times
I mean, flew to 1750 first couple days, then ran in to DH,DK, War as an MM. Tanked and now struggling at like 1650. It's like everyone is actually playing there for some reason. Pillaring, LOS'ing, peeling (ok maybe not peeling), etc... feels tougher than 2.2 last season tbh. Not to mention 30+ minute ques. They really really need to get it together. Last season was first season back in over 4 years and was a blast. Now, not so much.
Thanks Venruki, been taking a break deciding if i wanna try to jump back into the season but haven't been able to decide if now was the time to do so. This helped confirm some of my fears (as well as hopes I must add optimistically) I had for the current state of wow. Appreciate your thoughts and time. :D **Watches video.... Waits till end of season...** Oh I guess I do have a question, you mentioned the clear meta that there is, are we talking like... Death knights in wrath...? monks in mop...or like.... Dh in legion? need a scale here...or boomies with precog last season (kidding kidding... kinda.)
Tying back to the comparison of keys being capped artificially at +8, it would also be like a +8 with the scaling of a +28. So, not only are you not rewarded, you are playing waaaaay outside your skill/comfort zone.
That would require them putting effort into creating good areas and making sure that people couldn't be griefed indefinitely, its a shame really since the most fun i had in wow was world pvping using the environment to your advantage fighting over resources or shuttng down parts of the map for the other faction sadly pvp is an afterthought in a massively open world multiplayer videogame filled with other players LOL
Guild Wars 2 does a reward track type of system which is very similar to what you are talking about with the battlepass. It would go a long way to incentivize people to play throughout the entire season.
Also, I love the idea of solo shuffle, but if you are new to solo shuffle, you ARE the anchor. Unless your skill level unnaturally high, you're going to hurt everyone else except your opposite number.
I like that you understand there are casuals and that that is really a good thing for a game. I want people to think about us casual and mid level players that know we won't be glads but like playing and would like some rewards for our time. quantity of games based rewards and currency for older glad mount/mogs would be awesome!
I'd love to see a fast pass system where if you play a healer 1 or 2 matches you'd get a fast pass on your DPS This idea comes from me thinking what on earth would make me play healer, and the only thing that would is getting faster queues on my main. And who knows maybe I'd enjoy healing after giving it a fair shot
The same sistem works perfectly fine in dota with an adition that you have to actually win to get thouse prio q passes for dps, so that people dont throw
So I just started playing pvp a couple of weeks ago and I’m having a lot of fun, trying different classes and trying healing out in solo shuffle. For me I have a lot of the older pvp mounts to collect so I sort of have my own battle pass going, I unlock some of the elite set pieces along the way as well. But for those that don’t have that incentive or already have collected those mounts it just means rating is the only incentive to play. For a lot of people that’s more than enough but when wow has lots of mount farms and tmog farms that people already participate in on top of raid and m+, it becomes harder to justify trying out pvp and putting in the effort to learn for a small reward. The season pass is a no-brainer, you’d probably see double to triple the number of people playing. Regarding gladiator mounts that could be the completing the pass reward, you get a gladiator saddle and get to pick one of the previous season gladiator mounts. It means that the current gladiator mount is still special but doesn’t lock those mounts permanently. It could also mean collecting previous season elite sets in the similar manner, you get x amount of tokens per season to unlock elite sets for any class from a previous season. There’s loads that could be added in that would make more people want to continually play and to get new people to play.
The knowledge and skill required to feel like you have agency in arena is just absurd. Never feels like I can just know my character and press my buttons well and I'll climb. Doing that is just the basic requirement to play. Everytime I've tried to rank up, I hit a wall around 1600 where I need to have an encyclopedia of game knowledge to understand what buttons my opponents are pressing.
Ur exaggerating on the game knowledge. And it also depends on what spec ur playing. I was hardstuck around 1900 with my MM last season until I decided to check out BM and made 2100 almost instantly. And I only know, like, every spec‘s three biggest CDs. This season I'm trying to build on that and take my DH to 2100.
That's what you get when Blizzard keep trying to rig mmr and throttle people to aid the majority rather than let people play with their peers. It's still amazing to me how i can get or hold 2k+ mmr on any dps spec, but my healers (which i main, and am higher xp on) are throttled at 1600. Is my job just to make dps queues pop now?.. yeah nah, no thanks.
Everyone is in sod but its got me back to retail also. After five years or so, it’s amazingly in-depth to come back to retail, took me two days to set up my ui O.o I wish the game was in a place where people played because they were having fun!
Blizzard came to a point where the game released 20 years ago is way better. In vanilla you have a bigger map to play, it gives you sense of exploration. Now you center the whole game in the "new discovered somehow" area and it gets old very fast. I cant stand dragonflying the same mounts in the same place anymore. Now you have only one meta, one set, one way of playing, in classic you have multiple sets, people with completely different sets doing about the same contribution in a raid/bg. Another thing that i find important, its the numbers, too high numbers make the game confusing. SoD is not gonna replace vanilla because they made changes too HUGE, classic just needed a few tweaks in the classes like hunter, rogue. I've been playing in Turtle WoW, a private server that is just like classic (with zero p2w), with a few tweaks that make every class playable, since i played there, i only play on blizz for some hardcore classic. Besides that, the whole blizzard gaming became completely P2W, very very sad. I fell for D4 and DF, but no more. never again.
Last two seasons I was a 2k plus rated holy Paladin. I love solo shuffle and it brought be back to the game. This season I can’t get past 1400 and it’s so frustrating. I Haven’t been playing the last few weeks because it feels like a drag.
A non monetized participation only battle pass style reward system where tier progression is done at a "regular" pace through participation and could be pushed further through spending excess honor/conquest. Everything you mentioned spot on.
I truly truly enjoy the pvp of retail. But those "15 min" ques that are really 20 to 30 min ques make it a drag to play. Sometimes u wanna just get on and get a few games in, but to get some decent time playing, u have to spend 3 hrs to get 5 games in.
Blizz has no way of turning non-pvpers into casual pvpers, and casual pvpers into ranked pvpers. Those transitions are unavailable in part because they turned all unranked pvp modes into chores you do to gear up for ranked. They've done this for years and now the pool of casual pvpers looking to move into ranked is empty.
So here's my thoughts as a hardcore-casual player: it's alot of compounding issues. 1st-wheb you win 2 games at 1400 you are now ques against 2100 players. Then every win has a similar chance to put you against high rated players. 2nd-the vault sucks. Rng if you get what you need, some people get thier 4 set 2 weeks ahead of others. THEN with part 1, you gotta farm honor from arenas which gives laughable amounts (especially 2v2). Then u gotta farm this honor while getting your face smashed in by top players. You go from destroying people, to getting destroyed. Having to grind so many games while experiencing this type of win lose is ROUGH. Then it can be difficult to know your progression when opponents from one game to the next are on completely different levels. All this comes together to be just a case of constant extremes and very brief moments of fun.
I love Arena and pvp but it's so sweaty that getting the tangible rewards is not possible and a big turnoff for casual players. 100% the worst place that sweatiness has been since I started playing in 2005.. Casuals need to be able to access certain rewards as well over time rather than it being 100% locked behind being the best of the best. Just my honest opinion
Something I didn't hear you mention was the new solo-queue Battleground system they added this season. I was interesting in trying it out, but have been distracted by Season of Discovery. Are people trying that out at all? If they are, is that maybe impacting the playerbase numbers for the casual crowd that might be doing arena?
It's just a regular bg with a few changes that make it way faster. I dabbled in it and didn't find it particularly more interesting than the regular bgs. I guess it's good because it gives a ton of conquest for people who don't really grind that much but would still like PVP gear asap. But then that might just be me as I'm one foot out the door as I don't really enjoy this game that much anymore, kinda hard to enjoy my hunter main who dies in 3 hits from a melee that sticks to me like glue.
Why isn't wow ranked system the way other games are? top 100 get rank 1, equal to let's say apex pred or grandmaster depending on the game (unique players, not including alts) and top 1% after that get glad and so on. Edit: The incentives they gave healers in S2 were not worth it. Giving us extra conquest when we're already capped, and more useless fucking whelpling satchels i have to open is not the way to get me as a healer to queue.
Ven, there is only one possible solution and you're not going to want to hear it: An Arena Standalone game or server. An arena standalone game or server would fit under the MOBA genre of games, the only other real PVP genre outside of it's counterpart First person shooters. The idea of revitalizing a WoW Arena community with an MMO is a pipe dream brought about by memories of better days past. It's original audience is too busy Adulting to commit themselves to leveling, gearing, and maintaining a toon for Arena and Zoomers have demonstrated they're only interested in fast paced, instant action, plug and play games. A separation from the "World" of Warcraft only has benefits. It'd be easier to balance, without PVE abilities or items throwing our meta out of wack every patch. It would be 100000% more new player friendly. I whole heartedly believe a standalone arena game/server modeled after a time where Arena was at it's peak (I would vote for a game/server modeled after CATA Or MoP arena) would bring in big numbers. Especially if it is Free to play, and Blizzard sells xmog, toys, mounts, rather than being hidden behind a $15 monthly fee. This really shouldn't be viewed as some crazy idea. Arena Tournament servers have been done before by blizzard, and there has been tons and tons of private servers set up for this very thing. The MOBA business model of games obviously works, and the mmo pvp obviously no longer does. WoW Arena needs to modernize or it will die completely. There is an indie project, Arena of Kings 2, is being developed by former Arena legend Pookz, so I know I am not the only one who shares this sentiment. At a time where Blizzard has been super receptive to things the community voices desire for, this would be a great time to call for them to run an experiment like this. Sincerly, A long time fan.
The Battlepass, as you describe is basically what 'Honor levels' were when introduced in Legion, it was intended to reset every expansion but in the end Blizzard decided to carry to over expansion to expansion, it gives rewards are titles, toys, mounts and pets, which is exactly what is needed on a seasonal level, even if just reskins. WoW doesn't need the ELO rating system like LoL, DOTA etc, if blizzard simply don't soft reset MMR every season, and let players carry over their mmr from the previous, into the new season, the ladder will quickly returns to a reflection of where it was in the previous season and people can continue to climb to gain rating. They also need to make the entry into Arena easier for players, my suggestion for this is, remove dampening from 2s and 3s, until, for example, 1600, and also apply a damage reduction debuff which scales down each time players climb up to a new rating bracket e.g 0 - 1000 rating 10% damage reduction, 1000 - 1200 5% damage reduction, 1200 - 1400 2.5% damage reduction, 1400 - 1600 1% damage reduction, beyond 1600 rating dampening applies at the normal rate and the damage reduction buff is removed, this way, it won't discourage inexperienced pvpers from playing, as they don't just walk in and get insta gimped by far more experienced PvPers on new classes or alts game after game, and then just stop queuing. Without new players in arena, arena will die simple as that, while m+ will continue to grow in popularity because the scaling difficulty can be adapted to and people can learn and find their level as the season goes on. PvP is very punishing for newbies and even with incentives like a battle pass system, if they get stomped, they just wont queue.
The utter frustration of playing any spec/class in RSS is just so immense, it's unbelievable. I main a priest, have since vanilla, and I always come back to playing it no matter what expansion/patch/fotm/etc is current. I have played shadow and disc about 50/50, and I came back to the game after leaving during the dumpster fire of the last expansion. I have played at higher rankings, glad in BC seasons, and I've raided at cutting edge end game levels from bc-mop. I am experienced, but rusty, and I understand almost all classes/specs and have years of knowledge to go off of. Going into RSS was not something I was prepared for, I know the issue with melee, and the fotm classes is large, and I expected to get ran over for a number of games, but nothing could prepare me for just how bad the issues are due to rating/mmr and inflation/deflation. Playing shadow, I obviously get trained about 75% of the games, and I've adjusted my playstyle to adapt to it with moderate success, but playing disc has really showed me that the current meta, and the current iteration of disc essentially forces you into being a healbot. You are at the whim of your dps in almost every game, and the game at lower rankings is essentially a pve encounter for these people. If you are at 1500 as a healer, and you end up being matched with dps that are at equal or higher ranking, your ability to influence the game comes down to "Can you chase these people down and avoid the inevitable resto druid cc chains well enough to keep them up while they line/range/ignore cc on you?" Climbing as a healer is incredibly difficult, and fully dependent on those dps. You have your own cd's to use, but when you're chasing them down, and they don't pop their own defensive cds, only offensives, what is your play? It's like chasing a boarder collie that thinks they're playing tag with you. Deflation is wild as well, and it seems to really just swing wildly between deflation and inflation at various points of the patch cycle. We see this everywhere every season/patch. We have set rankings instead of rankings and rewards based on the current ladder rankings, why is this? Why the arbitrary 'cap' on ratings right now that essentially unattainable for players, even including the best of the best. From what I've read about this expansion's previous seasons, and feedback, all of this has continued to be discussed by the community, but we see so little action to combat anything pvp related.... Oh, and pve tier sets for pvp makes me really wonder how we got back to pve gear being BIS for pvp. We left this behind what, a decade ago?! Why is it back (and as an aside, what designer signed off on priest set bonuses?!). If pvp is going to have set bonuses, keep it flat stats live verse bonuses/main stat bonuses; something that every class and spec benefits from, and not just specific builds, and not something they deem 'good' in pve. I think I've rambled enough now, much like Ven's video blog here, It's simply what's on my mind related to this topic. But man, have they ever continuously backburnered pvp in every way, which has just turned pvp's downfall into a self-fulfilling prophecy; put so little effort into this aspect of the game, which drives players away, which means there's less incentive to design and develop features and balance time. @Venruki, I admire your tenacity to continue playing at high level, and making content for this game via youtube, twitch and community engagement. I don't know how you've done this for as long as streaming has existed, but kudos to you for being so resilient.
Very good Video, thank you Ven. I have some ideas id like to add. For aditional rewards in PvP they could also add old elite sets from former seasons. As a pve player you can go back and oneshot old raids if you missed a set, as a PvPer you cant get old elitesets you missed. The old sets should also require rating so tehy are not free and actually mean something ( wich would be cooler than the way it works in PVE) maybe they could be available at 2k or so. Would be just another little motivation to keep people interested in playing. I also think it would be cool if they do more for healers in soloq so that the q times are not so long as a damage dealer. My idea here is an acountwide buff that you get if you heal a few rounds of soloq, the buff than gives you priority for soloqprocs as a damage dealer. This would make a lot of people try healer jsut to get the buff and even the ones that really dont want to heal and wont get the buff will benefit jsut because of the higher amount of healers overall. To avoid people abusing this system by not trying hard as healer they could make it that the buff only works when you win a certain amount of games or get to a certain mmr closer to you damage dealer that you want to "use" the buff on.
A huge problem with WoW is the barrier to entry. The game is already complex as it is for a brand new player having to learn all the intricacies of PvP combat let alone setting up all the best addons and getting all the best macros. It's just too daunting for new players to even want to try WoW when they could just load up a Valorant match and jump right into the game. I think that addons and Weakauras should be just that "addons". Not "requirement-ons". WoW needs to include more addon and Weakaura features/functions to the base game. sArena/Gladius level arena frames, a tracker for diminishing returns on crowd control, and a party member cooldown tracker are non-negotiable requirements for PvP. One could argue that addons like Omnibar that track enemy interrupts and major cooldowns could be an important addition to the base game as well. Level the playing field already.
The problem you describe about 4 set and just waiting until you can easily achieve it shows you why they should’ve never made the changes to tier sets they did. Yes, there will be a time of unbalanced play while some have their tier and others don’t. Creating a system that gives you free tier just removes the aspect of having to work for it and you get the problem you have now… Why work for something you’re given for free in a month? Only an addicted fool that doesn’t value their time and life would do that.
The three biggest complaints I have and have heard from other healers: 1) How fast the meta is. You can blink and someone can go from 75% to dead. 2) It feels like the DPS defensives are stronger than any healer defensives leading to feeling less impactful. Especially if you don't have a coordinated group like in RSS. 3) Damp starting so quickly in RSS leads to a very punishing and unrewarding game mode for healers. No one likes seeing their numbers go down as the round goes on. Side note, please remove PVE tier from PVP. It is the main contributor to problem 1 and feels bad if you enjoy a spec but gets a bad tier and is now a tier or 2 below where other specs are that got good tier that season. On the other hand, if you are lucky enough to get good tier that season you will most likely have your kit nerfed to compensate leading to you being underpowered the following season if blizz doesn't revert those changes (See Ele's storm ele being nerfed 50% for SL S3/4 tier that is still nerfed, or surge of power nerfed 50% due to last season tier).
thats not the reason your being nuked to the ground its because your facing the sweatiest ppl that only play PVP that only play meta, so if you get stunned for 4 seconds they capitalize and destroy you, games where a lot chill when the 1400-1900 braket was full of a mix of pvp casual players and also pve players wanting to get some decent stated gear, because let me tell you your currently hitting each other with rubber swords most of the tier sets are nerfed by 50% or even 75% in some cases theres even specs that dont even use 4set they just do a 2set build
What amazes me is that this feedback has been out there for over a year and yet little to no response from blizzard. At this point they are just ignoring the PVP community.
They are not ignoring stop saying shit , pvp is like this rn because of the stupid noob communuty

"If you're an average player getting 2100".. I'm just happy I found a partner to farm conquest with that doesn't leave after 1 loss. 😂
Legit the hardest part about pvp now a days
But some how when you get lucky and get the person that sticks “especially a healer” they are 500+ rating then you and really good. Probably playing a resto Druid as well.
I play heal and guys never quit its so funny we can lose 10 games but they say its fine bro 😂
2100 isn't an achivement. With how easy the game is, I just assume anyone under 2400 in df belongs on the short bus
@prod7906 there is one person at 2400 in 3s and 2s. So unless you are one of those two people, welcome to the short bus.
Queue times are 30 minutes and MMR is fucked up, why would I even play right now
Yeah I'm just waiting for it to be easier later

Youre a fool if you think that. Que times are going to be insanely large.
I agree with you, Rated Solo BG's could make me play it full time, been enjoying BG's since vanilla, arena's ? Meh
Solo rated BGS sounds awful. You have a much smaller effect on the game in a 10v10 or 15v15 than something like a 2v2 or 3v3
@@frenchdream330rated bgs are for 1500 rated scrubs who suck at arena and think they’re papers
Also gives professional and good feedback.
DS much
Bro what.. every big streamer I can think of points out negatives constantly
What should worry you is the thought of not being able to express ones opinion out of fear, that's how far our societies have fallen.
Partial the deflation exists becuz lack of players and the lack of casuals
Thats because theres just not enough playeras, people don't play because they don't like the current state of the game or have better options to play (classic or SoD)
I personally don't play because casters are dominating, everytime casters are strong meta becomes boring, specially when warlock are OP, I rather play anything else.
exactly. most people only play arena because it is mandatory to gear properly. 90% of the playerbase does not even give a damn about it if it weren't for the gear. It has always been like that, yet arena players seem to think they are entitled to massive dev attention, while bg pvp has gotten none of that in ages.
" i can log in and play", sits in q for 1 hr
I love your construtive videos like this, please keep making them. maybe sometimes the devs can learn something from them.
Just came back into Retail since a long ass time. Was also really excited about SoD. For some reason Retail is keeping me engaged and I find myself wanting to play that more then SoD. Arenas are a blast and im hooked.
arenas are great lol they just need to fix MMR
I'm in the same boat. Having a blast in retail after not having played retail since original WotLK
retail gameplay is insane, thats why sucks so much that it's almost impossible to get a reward from it, nobody would care anything about a bad pvp reward system of a trash game. and if u dont seek for glad/r1 there is literally nothing bad in your game experience (maybe shuffle dps ques, but u can do a lot of things during ques, like finding lfg rated 3s or 2s)
Play healer.
2200 is not above average. 2400 is the competence check, of anything 2400 is below average. You're not a good player until 2700, minimum
GW2 has a great system to copy and paste into WoW
Battlepass, blizzard no cost ????? U smoking crack 🤣
The play is so frustrating now I spend 2 hours in shuffle as a healer trying to get rating and have fun and enjoy myself and literally get 0 or +1-10 to rating for going 3-3 or 4-2 after 10 games then I have 2 bad rounds and I lose 50+ points for each round and lose 100 rating... then it takes me another 1 or 2 hours just to gain back that 100 rating I just spent 4 hours of my life to gain NOTHING on my character so why should I keep playing?
blizzard is realy weird when comes to letting players have fun

They needed to release RBG solo queues this patch
Thats why i came back, I thought we had it when 10.2 arrived 😅
they needed on DF release...
This is all I want and all I will play if and when it drops.
pay-to-play for pvp in world of warcraft is already a death sentence
Good in theory but what if you go on vacation or have to go out of town for a few weeks. Then all your hard work would go down the drain
blizzard tried rating decay in the past, and came to the conclusion that people hated it because it felt bad watching your rating go down without doing anything, which is the whole point of this video, that people are not playing because they can't get to rating they are used to.
Look what happened to Vainglory though.
Brother if you have to sweat super hard to win 1500 lobbies then you need to stop blaming the game and look inwards.

Try playing a healer and going 4-2 getting zero rating.
I went 2-4 next lobby and lost 49 rating.
This is why healers aren't queuing.
@@JDMJesseeethat is extremely relatable
@@Eradivyn I keep ping ponging from 1750 to 2080. It's an emotional roller-coaster that takes me a whole 5 hours to get rating back and only 45 minutes to tank.
My two reasons are
1: Like you said there is just no point in queueing early season, which is just a bad design choice.
No
lol absolutely not, m+ is an absolute joke in getting IO you literally get KSH in less than a week of playing thats not what pvp needs to be
Yes!
Problem Solved
as well as in shuffle since you cant even play real 3s anymore fuck it
Writing this as a current 2021 rated Arms Warrior in shuffle with almost 200 total games already played in season 3.
I sat a 2hr que timer on my main ele in shuff the other night and i ended up logging off. its quitting worthy playing a multiplayer game that nobody else is playing.
mmr fix would fix everything rn lol
not according to about a dozen of my glad healer buddies who claim theyll never que shuff unless theres rewards bc the dps dont respect positioning etc@@dabiun7443
As someone who loves the game still after all these years i also think that there should be more rewards and progression feeling for casual players ( ANY PLAYER who puts hours into the game)
I never been R1 or Glad and my seasonal avg is around that 2100 which i am fairly happy about , solo shuffle is awesome for me as solo player these days , yes the ques are long but i love the variety and unpredictivness of the lobby ?
Clueless.
BATTLEGROUNDS ARE PVP.
Arena was a side game that got picked up because you needed less players to get the gear, but it’s not as fun as a BG can be.
Lol wrong.
It does feel like Blizzard is sometimes trying to make the game un-fun.
I feel people are still burnt out from shadowlands. 😂
Yeah, killed the last bit of 'good vibe' left.
Shadowlands was great , DF is shit idk what You talking about lmao
@@dabiun7443 You liked Shadowlands. That’s cool. There’s people who didn’t and that’s OK.
I would looooooooove to see that go down
I like your idea at the end Ven. I agree there needs to be a way to just grind out the glad mounts. Add tabards and more titles at the top.
@@mortalux BFA PvP was horrible dude. If you didn't have BiS corrupted gear and mythic raid / mythic 15 trinkets you weren't getting anywhere.
Only possible solution: an Arena standalone server or game.
Boring. Also no. You didn't listen to what Venruki said? @@dn-pp5ny
Wow player and influences need to take community into their own hands and stop asking blizzard to solve our issues. We have war games and the ability to communicate
I appreciate that you speak for casuals Ven; thanks 🙏🏿
You can literally get full mythic gear right now but we are gatekept on pvp gear by weekly fed conquest points.
I think the 'battlepass' type system is a good one. I think they should incorporate more glyph-type rewards that change the color of your abilities, etc. That would be super fun and would encourage a lot of people to play to get those!
as someone who only does m+/raid, it amazes me how blizzard continues to completely ignores one of the 3 endgame activities
In earlier expansions we didn’t really have many cooldowns. People just randomly died (see tbc and wrath). Mop was the perfect balance of cd trading.
I think it's so hard because everyone swapped to sod, so now it's only the hardcore, sweaty arena nerds are playing retail rn.
I watched your previous video on the same topic and its crazy how little if anything has changed.
This is why they need to bring back world pvp somehow.
exactly right legendary
That would require them putting effort into creating good areas and making sure that people couldn't be griefed indefinitely, its a shame really since the most fun i had in wow was world pvping using the environment to your advantage fighting over resources or shuttng down parts of the map for the other faction
sadly pvp is an afterthought in a massively open world multiplayer videogame filled with other players LOL
Guild Wars 2 does a reward track type of system which is very similar to what you are talking about with the battlepass. It would go a long way to incentivize people to play throughout the entire season.
RBG Solo Queues need to have happened last month.
Another QUEUE to have less people playing others lmao
Also, I love the idea of solo shuffle, but if you are new to solo shuffle, you ARE the anchor. Unless your skill level unnaturally high, you're going to hurt everyone else except your opposite number.
I like that you understand there are casuals and that that is really a good thing for a game. I want people to think about us casual and mid level players that know we won't be glads but like playing and would like some rewards for our time. quantity of games based rewards and currency for older glad mount/mogs would be awesome!
Vicious mounts already accomplish this. Reward for time not rating.
I am certainly not sick of these videos ! thank you.
Venruki doesn’t miss, every single think he touched on is exactly how I think most people feel, or just truth
The problem is that no one wants to heal because healing in PVP is literally horrible right now. That makes the queues and ratings go crazy.
I'd love to see a fast pass system where if you play a healer 1 or 2 matches you'd get a fast pass on your DPS
This idea comes from me thinking what on earth would make me play healer, and the only thing that would is getting faster queues on my main. And who knows maybe I'd enjoy healing after giving it a fair shot
overwatch flex queue prio passes all the shitter dps play support and tank and throw to farm passes to q dps
So many good ideas to improve the PVP in WoW. Thank you Venruki
After five years or so, it’s amazingly in-depth to come back to retail, took me two days to set up my ui O.o
I wish the game was in a place where people played because they were having fun!
Everything you mentioned spot on.
never commented. subbed for 2-3 years. love your content. thank you. your love for the game is always awe inspiring!
Sincerly,
A long time fan.
Free to play is the solution, I agree mate.
If you are at 1500 as a healer, and you end up being matched with dps that are at equal or higher ranking, your ability to influence the game comes down to "Can you chase these people down and avoid the inevitable resto druid cc chains well enough to keep them up while they line/range/ignore cc on you?"
Climbing as a healer is incredibly difficult, and fully dependent on those dps.
The camping picture in the background is a nice touch lol
Creating a system that gives you free tier just removes the aspect of having to work for it and you get the problem you have now…
Why work for something you’re given for free in a month? Only an addicted fool that doesn’t value their time and life would do that.
Thank you for continuing to be a voice for the people.
The three biggest complaints I have and have heard from other healers:
1) How fast the meta is.
