I'm so glad you made this video the conversational manner in which you guys recap the lore is the only way I can really manage to keep up on warcraft lore.
i think an interest fact is how john staats, the first level designer for wow, said if given the chance he would go back in time and convince his team to scrap Caverns of Time because "it's just the stupidest dungeon idea evar" continuing on, "How do level designers awe players with scenes of ruins and bygone artifacts in a fantasy world filled with ruins and bygone artifacts? It ended up looking like a junkyard of art assets players had already seen before. Shoving a tower and a ship underground just seems a little cheesy."

I haven't paid attention to WoW lore in a while but it was my favorite part. Glad to have Nobbel and this lore podcast format to hear what's going on!
Thank you for this catch up video! I've missed some content after release and now I have a better idea of what has happened and what quest lines to tackle first.

I was really hoping for them to go to Azuremyst and Bloodmyst Isles and get those a revamp! I think I remember the dreanei and the nelf where close.
Gilneas would be cool too.
Personally, I'd want them to settle in Ashenvale, or Mount Hyjal.
@@Lupinemancer87 Diremaul for me. It's ruins still established enough the ogres are living in them. Wouldn't be that hard to push the ogres out and take it over. But I also want the Darkspear to go back to STV and take over Zul Gurub.
@@Lupinemancer87 Well, Mt Hyjal is kind of inconvenient considering they are members of alliance, and area around isn't the best for trading and commuting to and from there.
I've said before, Malfurion bailed once he realized he married his brother.

In Legion the Highmountain quest where you become Huln and fight the legion was a short but great way to bring some character development to somone who has been introduced. I'd have loved if they did this with Sabeleon. I know he existed in the world before, but he was called Baron Sablemane and I wouldn't have put two and two together.
I did in a row green dragonflight, blue dragonflight and black dragonflight questlines last weekend damn that was awesome content blizzard has upped their level since shadowlands was so s*** im very happy about this expansion

I love the arm chair writers in the wow player base lol, I mean the char do change over time and 10,000 year's is a freaking long time add to that this was just a part of the change in how the leaders were.

Talking about the Caverns of Time, what's the reason for it holding the entrance to the Dragon Soul raid? Isn't Dragon Soul in real time, not an alternate timeline? Or did we travel back in time to kill Deathwing?
Game reason: It's next to to a bunch of Caverns of Time dungeons added in the same patch.
This is late but Nozdormu said that the moment Deathwing was hit by the Dragon Soul can't be undone and is a permanent point in time so the Dragon Soul raid was placed in Caverns of Time to view/keep an eye on it I guess. But yeah game reason is convenience.

My theory is that all cavern of time dungeons are linked to the idea of stopping thrall from using the dragon soul to hit deathwing

I'm glad Shadowlands got the hugely negative reception it did, or the next two expansions would be about the Firster Ones and then the Firstest Ones.
No threats feel like threats unless they attack azeroth, the primalist "invasion" in prepatch was weak, should have been in orgrimmar or in stormwind

I remember doing return to karazhan for thr dragon mount with nobbel and he asked if anyone wanted the mount when it dropped i said yes!!! He later discarded it

Eternus is the Infinite Dragon Chromie fights against.
I think the niffin are an innocent people that we do things with because we want to not because of what they offer us. And tragedy comes upon them just because of pure evil. And I for one am not going to let this go unpunished. However I hated the the orc heritage quest line. Everytime I think about that works now I don't think of any other thing they've ever done in this game. I only think about how I had to make Thanksgiving dinner.

i was gonna watch this video and im sure its a good video but the realization that i needed to even fucking google the lore because some mentally challenged person decided they should gate keep players from doing the story after hitting max lvl behind rep grinds that require you to legit just do the same exact freaking thing every week is just too much for me to keep playing, i wanna experience the game but this just isnt it.. and to anyone saying that its a good thing... i think you need help honestly.. doing the same exact thing every single week just to eventally get some of the main story is not fun its cheap and the shit should have just stayed applied to how you obtain gear... rip dragonflight
they're 100% going to retcon- bronze dragonflight's duty and make it so the Titans just lied, they already buckled under pressure about the Alex 10.1.5 quest chain, people don't want a story that makes them think, they want the bronze dragonflight to be able to change the past of all it's "problematic" aspects. We already know new blizz hates the old lore and sees it just as an obstacle to tell their half baked new stories, of course they'll jump at first chance to destroy it.

shadowlands' themes and initial lore or shall I say characters like the Jailor made the best time to be interested in WoW lore. Then they explained it all away AND doing a terrible job at that, killing that whole expansion (some of 9.1 and most of 9.2 comes to mind). I've never cared less about WoW lore than I do in DF. Characters and their storylines are very safe but also very boring.
The jailer was half baked to begin with, nothing there was interesting. Just a bunch of "oh look this dead character is now in the shadowlands". Going back to dragons and their lore is so much better.
@@Minox_ the Jailor was a bold move to introduce into the story but they killed him off in an expansion and gave stupid explanations and even made him brain-damaged (9.2 cutscene in front of Haven). There was so much to speculate about, because Blizzard didn't explain much - that's called art. Do you like watching a movie where there are cues for you to laugh here, cry here, feel this, feel that?
Okay so, Bronze dragons and messing with timelines?
This could be a perfect way for Blizzard to finish off the WoW storyline. Restart the the series like Marvel or Mortal Kombat did.
Maybe they can start working on a WoW 2 with better a gaming engine, polished gameplay, and a fresh story. My fingers are crossed 🤞
Let’s not forget this game is 20 years old, time for a predecessor to arise and bring in a new generation of gamers.
