I hope Harley-Davidson continues with the adventure bike line, but comes out with a smaller, lighter model.
Hahaha...A quotable Quote, "Nothing's gonna save me if I have no skill !"
I appreciate your practical humor, necessary disclaimers, and cautionary candor. "I fell over..." is hard to admit, but makes you the honest rider.
I've been caught on dirt and gravel with my street bikes, and it's White Knuckle, and Bruising !!
I think I'd want some lessons...
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Defintely going to get some lessons, I've also been putting off accepting an invite out to the desert to ride some of the dirt bikes we have, Probably should take my coworkers up on their offer.
Seems like a cool dude. Humble and helpful. 🤘
I currently have a GS ADV and while I mostly ride street I do ride some of the dirt roads in the area. I can’t deal with deep sand, the fun goes away for me there. I do not have knobbies though and am confident they would make a difference.I test rode a PA. Great bike. That set up Nick has with the soft luggage is ideal. Damn near busted my leg one day when I had it down in some dirt and keg went back a bit …I don’t like hard bags off-road.
Awesome video ! Keep on riding the dirt!!
Nicely done Nick!
Have a nice weekend 👍 🙌 🤗 😊 😄
Dang, I want one. Love the new Fastback Blue/White Sand paint for the '22 yr model.
LOL ! . . . ". . . you always get the feeling your 'going down' . . . uh . . . in sand, that is." Love it ! Thanks, Nick, for my chuckle of the day ! ;)
When in sand, just pick a line long ahead of you and focus on it, while keeping it pinned.
Yep, I kept chopping the throttle and making things worse
Super helpful video. I 'm getting into adventure riding so this really spoke to me. I have a lot of experience on the road and not a ton on dirt but am really into it. I test rode a Pan Am and wow, awesome bike.
Keep up the great videos!
That would be perfect for Arizona 🏜️🤣 just got my street glide but that bike looks heavy. Lol
What part of AZ are you in? I moved from Scottsdale to TX and am planning to make it back to AZ. I miss everything about AZ, but housing market there is out of control...
Looks like a ton of fun going on and off road, and I appreciate the observations. I always demo each year's new HD bikes but haven't had a chance to ride this yet. Hopefully this Spring there will be an opportunity. I also have zero off road experience, and always found ADV bikes comically too tall. I would go into KTM dealerships and just marvel at how high the seats appeared, haha!
Dream trip: fly to your dealer ship, buy a bike and ride it cross country via #Zakar, #Rawhide and #everide then continue on the TAT to middle TN 😜🤘
I want to do that as well.
I flew to Laidlaws Harley last year and bought my Pan America from Matt Laidlaw and rode it home the same day, highly recommend the bike, Laidlaws Harley and Matt 👍👍👍
Excellent vid!
You ate it in the dirt you are now a dirt bike rider lol . All dirt bike rider crash one time or another good video thanks for Sharing
I was at LL's all said that you were out. ...
I wanted spec out the PA- Blue
After them being 1 year on the market i was hoping for some modifications to the bike i.e quickshiter, the heat reduced from the right side, the radiator pipe near the exhaust to be at least coverd better redirected ? .The tft screen has at least been sorted so i am told and as for the blue tank well just does not do it for me each to thier own. That all being said i am still interested, but sorry to say HD has to up thier game some more if they want to compete with the Triump Tiger 1200 which is comeing out this year.
Great video
hey Matt wats the deal with the Pan Amercas luggage i had to wait 3 months for the bike and im still waiting for the luggage 3 months after the bike was delivered harley doesn't even give you an email to ask why...
For fun I was hoping to hear more of a comparison between this and his low rider; road riding, posture, power vs 114, does he like this more?
you learn by your mistakes you can only get better i hade look at the bike on line i am in australia it 258 kilograms it not the hevey
Did you disarm your airbag vest when you were on the dirt?… I’d be afraid it would deploy. Also, very interested to know the wind deflection properties of the Pan Am. Let’s say a Road warrior faired softail is a 7 and a street glide is a 10… where does the pan am fall from a wind deflection perspective?
I'm 6ft and for me the hands, chest, and helmet are great for wind deflection. Wind hits everywhere else.
Yep, the tech air 5 app makes it easy to disable it in the dirt. I’ve had the airbag go off before at the track and wouldn’t want that to happen in the dirt on just a tip over!
@@TH3G0ODGUY big fan of the tech air 5… the app is a little clunky but overall, it’s a nice product. We don’t ride on the street without it.
@@rickbradshaw2148 hahah yeah it’s a tad clunky, but a million times better than my old tech air race!
It would have been better if you started with a smaller off road bike. Now you learn it the hard way on a ultra heavy expensive what they call adventure bike. These bikes (adventure bikes) are not made for real off roading, merely for pothole invested roads.
But still, you have tried it and I admire you for it. And you are not the biggest dude out there I think.
Luckily for me with all the very experienced dirt riders at the dealership I knew i was in for it!
Is it confirmed that no more Evo motors starting 2022?
No, there are still a couple sportsters left with it. The ion 883 and the 48.
This drives the question,
How good is a harley trike on fire roads ?
Not good.
@@MattLaidlaw I couldn't resist lol 🤣
2012 switchback and a
Dr650 setup as an adventure bike are my rides.
First :D
I feel I’ve seen this video before? 🤔
It’s a bit more similar to Matt’s than I would have hoped, sorry!
thanks for the video, however, a review of old biker movies and many RUclips channels demonstrates that a regular old Sportster or Triumph can do 90% of What a Pan America can. Not trying to be a hater. Just check the true history of motorcycle touring. In 1973 dude rode a Triumph around the world. and plenty of examples of riding a
Sporster accross Africa. I opened my mind and realized marketing had alot to do with modern perceptions
Airplanes used to have a second wing too.
I even know of a rider who rode around around the world, fully packed, on road and dirt wth a Yamaha R1, a sportbike.
@@HooMeye that is indeed a remarkable accomplishment
The Pan America is the only ADV bike I would ever consider buying. The rest of the ADV bikes on the market are mostly ugly.
