Chorus:
You don't feel you could love me
But I feel you could
It was in the early morning hours
When I fell into a phone call
Believing I had supernatural powers
I slammed into a brick wall
I said, "Hey, is this my problem? Is this my fault?
If that's the way it's going to be I'm going to call the whole thing to a halt" - Видеоклипы
One of the greatest albums ever made
not a weak song on the record
"Believing I had supernatural powers
I slammed into a brick wall" Always makes me chuckle.
I've actually got "Call me Al" the single and "Gumboots" is the B side.
See, as soon as Paul Simon started relaxing and having fun - it paid off.
Fact check:
✔True
Possibly the greatest tbh
Abso blooming lutely!
I'm a 90's punk rock kid, this is a very important foundation album in my life. Almost 50, know every chord change, still choke up on the background vocals. love it
Paul simon is a genius and this song is gold. One of my favorite albums ever.
REST in PEACE ----> Mr Barney Rachabane, great & soulful saxophonist from this part of Graceland !
Kudos to you got knowing who he was. Very talented and under appreciated
I love the whole "Graceland" album, but this song is one of the more underrated tracks. I love the lyrics; the accordion; the saxophone solo; the background singers; the tempo; everything about it. Plus, "Say, ain't we walking down the same street together on the very same day?" has to be the best pick-up line ever!
Totally agree! :)
Literally, not a single song on this album that isn’t great. For some reason it feels so much more culturally early 1990s than 1986. Probably cause Simon was always ahead of his time.
Where is his Nobel Prize for the literature and music of genius...?
Epic use of the word 'astute'. And this song remains absolute 🔥 Feb. 2022.
This song's bass in the first 20 seconds or so has consistently itched the part of my brain that recognizes my phone's buzzing when it rings, giving me some amused frustration every time I've heard this. Every song on Graceland rocks!
Sound of the old township...South Africa #BoyoyoBoys
Paul Simon is a Genius!!!
The musical sound that inspired Graceland is in this song.
La musique de mon enfance. J'ai toujours des larmes aux en écoutant cet album. ça me rappelle mon défunt papa qui avait du goût !!!
Congrats on the Fullbright scholarship!
My favourite song from the album
Same.
Same here
One of the biggest concerts ever played!
Völlig legendär!
Wonderful song from a wonderful album
Fun song
Brilliant song, always makes me smile. It just so happened today while I was driving around in nice sunny summer weather.
I just can't ignore the joy I feel when I hear:
It was in the early morning hours
When I fell into a phone call
Believing I had supernatural powers
I slammed into a brick wall
or
You don't feel you could love me
But I feel you could
My favorite travel album wink😊
Graceland... Um dos albums que tanto nos acompanhou, e sempre nos acompanhará, nestas nossas andanças de Aqui e de Além... Saudade...
Lo mejor de paul simon!!
The Boyoyo Boys also did Puleng, which 'inspired' (cough...) Malcolm McLaren's 'Double Dutch'.
Psalms proverbs Ecclesiastes song of Solomon
That's The Byrds, Turn, Turn, Turn.
He wrote this over a pot of gumbo but didn’t wanna call it gumbo so he looked around the room and saw his boots by the door and said “gumboot…”
In South Africa, folks call their rubber boots (galoshes) gumboots. The rhythms Simon uses in this song are similar to the beats in South African gumboots dancing. Composer David Bruce speaks about this in a video here on RUclips.
I don't know, but these are pretty normal, same thing, same style. Nothing compared to Scarborough fair and the Sound of Silence. Without Garfunkle's voice, this is not memorable music.
