On an album with Graceland, Al, Diamonds, Bubble….why is this track the one I keep coming back to? Probably because of its simplistic beauty as well as in my opinion the most brilliant portrayal of the end of a relationship from the point of view of a middle aged man ever told.
Remember listening to this music back in the days when i was just a kid, That's about 25years ago. I loved it then as a kid, still loving now as I'm better getting the meaning of what was said
I never bought any LP or cassettes back in the days - Graceland was a rare exception to that rule, and I never regretted it. (Remember how you feel when you buy a whole album and there is maybe 2 songs that may be OK ?)
Reminds me of La Digue, beyond Praslin, further beyond Mahe, Seychelles. The further from Mahe the clearer it all gets. The true place to live. Far, far, away from everything and everyone.
I’ve always thought this was the hidden gem of the Graceland album.
I completely agree
That whole album was gems
I have no opinion about this, boys
As simple as it gets. What beats that unadorned melody and stuff that next-door guy's going through?
best song on album for sure. pure groove
Every few years I live through another Paul Simon song. The man wrote the story of my life before I lived it.
Oh my, this is so true!
Its crazy how this is the best song ever
Brilliant song from a brilliant album. First line must be the best first line in any song" Fat Charlie the archangel sloped into the room".
Instrumental beauty. This is the music that will probably greet us in the next realm
Not really his.
Let's all hope!
I have no opinion
Not really. This music wouldn't qualify as elevator music in Heaven. Guessing im right.. ❤
Hard to beat the melody of “I say the joke is on herrrrr”
I owe this memory of loving this song to my dad. Repeated it over and over and over. Great love Paul
Paul Simon is one of my favourite song Writer, a kind of a legendary voice, creating beating songs, ballads, his live performances were very good
My favorite song of the album.
This album is a gem !

As much as I love this album and them, I do believe Paul had feelings he couldn’t admit to
Mean guitar riffs on this piece. Bassist Bakhithi Khumalo and the late Ray Phiri I presume?
Exactly
I would know Paul Simon’s voice anywhere ❤️ Love all his music and admire him so much💐
I love this drum heavy track, actually the thick bass across the whole album!
The greatest song writer of the 20th Century without a doubt.
One of three Best with Bob Dylan and Neil Young
And Joni Mitchel
& R. Kelly
I love love love this whole entire album and play it every day and ir uplifts my spirits
Just sublime 😍

Discovered this masterpiece 22 years too late in 2008. One of Simon's best
This is what musical genius is.
MASTERPIECE ❤❤❤❤❤

fantastique album
He is such a talented songwriter I have loved his music since I was 16 and I am now (71)
Too bad they had to turn comments off on some of the other tracks. Such a great album - all of the songs. One of my favorite albums EVER!
How come they turned them off?
@@SkyOfTheUniverse I guess we'll never know.
Graceland... Um dos albums que tanto nos acompanhou, e sempre nos acompanhará, nestas nossas andanças de Aqui e de Além... Saudade...

I’ve felt like Fat Charlie The Archangel for all of 2022…at least I’ve had a soundtrack for it!
….and then there’s all that weight to be lost.
"Fat Charlie the arch angel slopped into the room" who starts a song like this and gets away with it? , i
Love it
I've always loved this track, the music is soso, but the lyrics are so good.
This song 🎵 is for everyone who rejects and denies this Tik Tok generation with no morality and pretend to be happy. I don't want no part. 😊
Fat Charlie and the arch angel file for divorce. Best line ever.
Fat charlie the archangel, not and
Was this really meant for Art Garfunkel?
I'm getting divorced at the moment. Fat Charlie, c'est moi
