This guy is a Snake Oil Salesman,he is taking the Chemo approach to the problem, introduce further contaminants to what's already contaminated because there's profit to be made doing it. This Ahole gave an investor pitch using pseudoscience and a demonstration in which he controlled all the ingredients of the so called scientific experiment, we're supposed to just trust him, a person representing a company with a product to sell it's honest science and not a commercial created to give incentive to potential suckers . What this video actually is I call virtual 3 Card Monty with chemicals (chemicals is an overstatement he's on some preschool shit with food dye, water, vinegar and oil added to sand he got from some kids sandbox before having a Craftspasm over his Wife's laundry bin and turning into the first white Nigerian prince with bridges for sale. I know I'm too prejudice and cynical, guys in suits and ties have never stood before us and lied in the interest of profit or making the sale.

En la primera etapa, el aceite queda arriba. Llegará un momento que se llena mucha, demasiada. Lo tienes que quitar a mano. Lo del lodo y piedras que se quedan en el fondo no te queda otra que quitarlo a mano, en el acite que es menos pesado que el agua.
¿Por qué no haces un sistema que se pierda o acumule solo aceite en otro bidón?
Solo tiene que recoger el aceite que flota para que se vaya a otro lado.

It is a question of the kind and volume of contamination. If we talk about contaminations from crude oil or petrol with a concentration of 2000 ppm, we come down with a 2 - filter solution ( 10 % NSX APX and 90 % sand as the filter media ) in serie to 50 ppm. If we add another filter with activated carbon, we get 5ppm and less.
Normally we get an Analysis from the contamination and we can configure the filtering method to get drink water. There are several goverment regulations all over the world, different limits, etc. and a general statement is not serious.
Nevertheless, some countries take the capability of our material for their Limits.

Seriously though, burning that crude oil skin would be a major pollutant to our environment, i would rather stick to nanotechnology, much safer & eco friendly.
If you really want to make profits for solving this problem there's a way easier and way way lower cost approach that requires a small team of employees and basic equipment rather than the overhead and loss of profit margin you're current business model is going to create! You're thinking inside the box (in this case a litter box), the perspective I have is one of a Bird's Eye View and even what would be considered a waste biproduct in the process is actually a resource of value on it's own. I have half a dozen ways of tackling that problem more efficient and effective than what you're proposing. Your goal is creating a profitable en-devour by exploiting a problem and the desperation problems cause rather than trying to gain real success by triumphing over the problem itself. Cui Bono (your hand is exposed).

Guaranteed it is not doing anything except absorbing puddles of oil or gas like all kitty litter does. there will still be a lot of residual left thinned out too much for the kitty litter to absorb against the weight of the water water logging it from all angles. It only worked in this very closed controlled situation because the volumes dealt with are so minuscule and the fact he used tap water, then added the oil to the top and added the kitty litter on top of that ensuring it would touch the oil first and once coated will resist water. A tiny volume of tap water inside a rubber maid bin is not an equal comparison to sea water in the ocean where it's volume creates a subsequent force plus has a lot of other molecules including salts and a tidal pattern/waves disturbing the ability of kitty litter to adequately penetrate the concentrated oil that isn't remaining motionless ;but in fact at is totally at the mercy of the force of the ocean.
