"Is that your car?"
"Yes."
"It's the wrong way up."
"Don't give me technicalities."
Gentlemen, let's not get.....mmmmbogged down with your prejudices.
Some say when they pulled jeremy's car out of the water, that bit at the front was still on fire.
Love ur profile pic
+Kevin Eames The Toybota had a lot of trouble staying above water.
Kevin Eames .you legend😣
That little fire was Satan himself
Kevin Eames theres just a simple fault here, a bit of a flaw of logic, a simple little fact that most people would know
That’s a boat not a car
"TOYBOTA"
+Jehan Kateli lol
"TOYBOATA"?
+DowellForPASenate 7
Jehan Kateli
NISSANK
Jeremy Clarkson: The first man in history to capsize a pickup truck.
4:14 The James and Jeremy entering water moments are one of the best music/picture coordination in TV history. I don't think these guys ever get proper credit.
I wish Toyota would took Jeremy's idea for the toybota, and made it into a real flawlessly working thing!
And name it the Gulf.
He did with the Nissank when he crossed the English channel from Dover to Calais.
Thankfully this was done in good fun and Toyota isn't that stupid.
"It was a good idea. It just had one major flaw."
*points at Jeremy*
"WOT?!"
My favorite ever.
Which pixel was Clarkson?
The second on the right...
The tall one
2008 mate
iain rickwood nah its just because of the vid quality not the real film
Yeah, uploaded in 2008, or have I missed something?
that fire was totally trolling Clarkson :-)
Totally.
+Waffle Legend Totally.
+Ansaro1 Totally
+8b64z Totally
Totally
1:09 "I was thinking more in terms of 2 of these"
4:48 "I was grateful when I saw the waterline I'd insisted on only having 1 engine"
Zachary Adams Jeremy is in total denial
Zachary Adams I
Zachary Adams iiii
That was the comedy
"That's half the horsepower of a formula 1 car!"
I hope RUclips disables 144p so BBC's forced to reupload with HD
+backslashio Same, they can afford to have a stupid youtube channel but they cant afford a HD Camera...
+The Pro Team ! A RUclips channel is free... -_-
I Ment they get money from youtube but they cant afford a HD Camera...
+The Pro Team ! Have you seen the upload date?
+The Pro Team ! It's filmed on HD cameras but they've gone to all the trouble of rendering it down to 144p to upload to youtube.
Watching Richard laugh as clarksons car capsized made me laugh so much
that little "o shit" he does just amplifies the hilarity
"Thats half the power of a formula one car" hahaha
POWER
I love how when they're sinking at the end, Hammond is just laughing silly. XD
uploaded in amazing full color potatovision
*****
there was a better quality than 240p in 2008
***** i mean, you're not wrong.
***** Yeah it was.
+Fanatical Erratical Gaming not on youtube honestly, ofc there were higher quality videos from then but on youtube this would have been about average
8:35 "Well it WAS a good idea, it was/had only one major flaw........................ *points at Jeremy*
*WHAT?!?!*
The Jkghfg
You said it, mate!
*_-what-_*
The Jkghfg James May is a slow poke. Richard Hammond is a blithering idiot. Jeremy Clarkson is a pillock. Need I say more?
this is a great example of slow and steady wins the race
CAPTAIN SSSSSLOWWWWW
Milan van der Veer SPEED AND POWER!!!
I think what makes top gear so awesome is that none of the presenters take themselves or the show too seriously. It means they set out to have fun which makes for entertaining television.
4:10 something about that music and James somehow managing to make it there is hilarious.
the legend says: The Toyota is still on fire XD
Jeremy: The big question was, which would arrive first? Summer, or James May?
Me: End of the world.
The Corona-virus would arrive first 😂😂😂👌
Still, he would arrive before that fire was put out
This is easily one of the very best challenges they've ever done. The turnover at the end just has me rollin every time
"If he drives out of the water, I'm gonna kill myself"
This guy is joke
James should've at least got some paddles. Otherwise I'd say his car-boat was pretty decent.
1:44 = My life when trying to do stuff
The good old days when the mishaps on Top Gear were genuine, unscripted moments. My favorite highlight from this episode: The moment Jeremy realizes he's overshot the pier and the truck is in trouble, and Richard is crippled with laughter both at the fact that he cannot believe what is happening, and that he is in the middle of it. The cameraperson can't even seem to believe it, either! Endlessly watchable human moment, this.
Richard....RICHARD....
I think you've overcooked it!
Richard is a pilloch
7:44 "Richutt. Richutt!!!"
this was the best show of the planet!
Hahaha
Jeremy always has brilliant ideas,
James always has smart ideas
And Hammond always has big ambitions, but turns them into crap ideas, which makes it all the more hilarious!!!
I'm left wondering if the only reason the producers picked this stretch of water was because it was near a place named Leek…
+DaRossiGamer Of course!
I've only caught a couple segments of this, and other bits with Captain Slow involved. This one, and then the one where he and Gordon Ramsey have a cook off. Both times he gets ridiculed repeatedly by his competitiors, and both times he manages to come out on top. He seems to me like embodiment of the tortoise from the old children's story. He gets taunted, joked at, underestimated, but at the end he seems to come out on top of a lot of the times. Is this a common thing, or did I just happen to catch the two things that James May just kicked ass at?
It happens often enough for people to have noticed that he might actually not be crazy with his decisions for these challenges, but I wouldn't say that he comes out on top more often than not. And there are definitely times where his ideas genuinely are terrible (see the off-road mobility scooters for a good example of this).
@@akaianc He does manage to come out on top in many different ways sometimes, even if he isn't always successful with his ideas. XD
May was the underdog in challenges pretty much every time. His most memorable "tortoise became the winner in the end" moment for me was in the Patagonia special. He chose the Lotus Esprit and he got mocked for choosing the most unreliable car and Clarkson even predicted the Lotus wont last till the end without breaking down. Lo and behold, the Lotus was the most reliable car in that trip and helped the other cars got out of trouble a few times.
@@manwell235 Daaang this was 8 years ago. I've watched a LOT more Top Gear since then, and I've also watched Grand Tour. I've seen where his patience and pacing has paid off, and I've seen other times where it's just been a hindrance to the group. I've also seen times where James May had enough of being the slow one and tries to actually race to win. I've seen it end in disaster too, jesus christ that last special where they were driving through that tunnel. It's incredible he didn't suffer anything worse than what he did.
@@Psychopatrick88 true, the Evo crash was hard to watch. I know they always tried to one-up each other, but seems like May has pick up a more competitive streak on TGT compared to his time on TG
1:43 If you listen carefully, you can hear the cameraman laughing, probably had to cut it because of that.. :D "Ah FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!" :D :D
I simply love Hammond's reaction from 7:35 to 8:13 :-)
7:35
8:13
They should have included the bit in the studio straight after the film, where Jeremy insists he was the winner because he reached the pontoon first, regardless of the the slight steering error at the end, and James says something like "I put it to you that if you went on a cruise and by the time you arrived back in port the boat was upside down.... you'd probably want a refund!", had me in stitches at the time.
"come on you bitch!"-James May
"is that your car?"
"yes"
"it's the wrong way up"
"don't give me technicalities"
Bloody brilliant
Can't believe James would say sailing is boring. It fits his personality so well!
"AHHHHHH! JEREMY! WE'RE GOING IN!!!"
"Relax!"
Says that but was secretly terrified that they'd sink lol
"The coldest winter due to global warming."
CLASSIC!
I'm almost sure that was Jeremy's sarcasm, but if you know anything about science, global warming does cause temperature to cool down.
Sarcasm, yes. You haven't seen much Top Gear, have you?
Gregory Heim sarcasm that happened to be true :p but jezza didn't know that
False ha ha
hammond went full joker at the toybota sinking
still my favourite top gear challenge, ever.
watching hammond attempt to cling to the wheel is one of those things that will be forever amusing
hahah " i think i may have won my second top gear event" i loveee it!
this made my day, the best challenge they have ever had in my opinion. i can still watch it after about 1 million times and i still laugh
Why has BBC Worldwide uploaded all of these in 240p... Budget cuts maybe?
RUclips limitations
Yep. Back when BBC uploaded these, the best quality for size was 240p
castlemania08 Nope, it was 480p.
"That rear end is the perfect mounting point."
The music when James comes up!!!
5:39, its the titanic moment lol :[
What was that ghost at 5:32? So creepy.
+mify man its his elvis figue that was hanging off the rear view mirror but that creeped me out 2 at first
I noticed that as well.
These have got to be the best pirates I've ever seen
1:45 look how clarkson is trying everything to get the fire out with that fire extinguisher but the fire is still going and refusing to go out
using the wrong type thats why
Why do you always cut out the reactions from each other when they see the cars for the first time?
They hate fun
Its working ! Its not working....
"No I can't give you a tow, I'm leaking!" xD
clarksons laugh just before the toyboata rolls over is just epic . that lad has smoked some bine in his time lol
"Coldest march in 20 years because of global warming" ohh top gear
Don't complain about the pixelly stuff. Cut them some slack, this was uploaded on 2008 😂
I love the bubbly knocking sound of a camera underwater. Oddly satisfying.
6:41
Its even to slow for captain slow
"Its the coldest March because of global warming" LOL XD
+Motherbrain Jr it wasnt a joke, thats how global warming works
Eightbitacid LOL here we go... XD
Dude, GW is a "issue" made up by politicians that say the only way to stop it is to vote for them. That's all it is...
Motherbrain Jr I know youre trolling and i only explained global warming in case an uninformed person came across your silly comment. Anyone can do a simple google search and realize youre being wrong on purpose. XD
Motherbrain Jr refer back to my earlier comment, and the scientific consensus.
Motherbrain Jr boohoo, poor conservatives mocked for not being able to interpret a graph, if you'd ever seen the level of temperature rise, you couldn't possibly, with half a brain think it was natural.
I would like NOT to control it thanks
Jeremy's boat/car name is HILARIOUS he called it the TOYBOTA lol xD
I watched this episode when it was repeated on DAVE TV earlier today, and I loved the car-boat challenge, especially the hilarious bit at the end (at 7:27) with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond.
CLARKSON: "I can't believe it, 2 miles, and it goes now - NO!"
LOL.
Love the snippet of The Lark ascending.
Toyota probably still runs.
I'm afraid not. This one died!
+James Young Rubbish it's fine just needs to dry out.
It does
I bet they disconnected the injectors.
Toybota ahah epic
i guess toybota hilux is highly flammable
Absolutely love the British Top Gear!! No one can do it better than that trio!
That music in the scene when James rolled up is literally the best. 10/10 funny as hell
7:26 *James May* :“come on you bitch”
i miss top gear
love the way richard laughs in the end!!xaaxaxaxaa
"Its the wrong way up"
"Don't give me technicalities" loll
Sitruunapaavo376 The Miami Vice theme. It was a popular American show in the 80s. Hulu has seasons 2-4 for free. Jan Hammer did the music for it. Its all here on youtube
140p isn't a video
It's a film XD
144p
guessing it's a cunning ploy to get people to go and buy the series themselves instead
hey
iain rickwood or maybe it was made 8 years ago?
This is probably the funniest challenge I've watched on Top Gear!
Man, that Toybota looks like something from GTA.
Yes that was sarcasm.
it's march... the coldest march for 20 years because of global warming xD
TOY BOTA??????
Fantastic episode! That outboard on the Hi-Lux looks magnormous!
3:20, nice choice of music!! The Lark Ascending is an excellent piece.
top gear at its best! Richard Hammond shortly before his accident :(
anyone know the music at 4:38?
Pls anybody
adagio from spartacus
Figures the british wouldn't know how to make a proper car boat.
1:54 I'm American but when I'm frustrated with an inanimate object i find myself yelling "OH FUH GOD'S SAKE!" exactly like Clarkson.
they honestly have the best jobs on this planet: drive EXTREMELY nice cars, get to go at great speeds, and drift, and everything, and they get to do random challenges such as this one, i wish i was on top gear, id love it so much
"Is That your Boat. It's on the wrong side"
A lot of Top Gear (As we all know) is fake. However i still like to believe the ending to this one isn't and that Jezza did stuff it up. Their reactions seem more real then during other stunts.
This is the best episode, I'm dying of laughter.
This show was truly ahead of its time. Missed this show so much!
Is it just me or does Hammond look like David Tennant at some angles?
I think so, too!
Yes, he does a bit.
"That was a mistake" ..... Richard...Richard....!!!
:L CLASSIC CLARKSON.
lol i love it how Jeremy teases James
The song when Captain Slow enters the water is one of the Pomp and Circumstances marches.
toybota hahahahha what a funny name on his hilux
did they merge lotr music into master and commander music. yes and it was wonderful..
Thankyou for all the five pixels for coming together
The little fire is the MVP of this video 😂🤣
Tell me this isnt anyones dreamjob
Clarkson probably shouldn't weld
That is a very astute observation.
Matt561 cause thats twice something he welded broke
one of my favorite episodes of top gear
lol at the unextinguishable fire on the grille lol
