  • @yukinawa84

The "kerisik galangal" is called serunding. It's shredded coconut cooked with some spices. And most food that you ate taste nutty because there was sambal kacang. Sambal kacang is similar to satay sauce. Johorean put sambal kacang in both lontong kering and lontong basah. Outside Johor, people only put sambal ikan bilis/sambal tumis in lontong basah.

Wow you met the boss who can speak Japanese. The both of you show become food reviewers from a foreigner's perspective. I always enjoy the way you describe the food you eat especially if the taste is quite similar to your childhood food. The pickled mangoes can be found throughout Malaysia. Usually sold by the roadside as snacks. Those kids are helping their parents to sell those pickled mangoes but they are not related to anyone in the restaurant. It seems that they want to make friends with you but shy to communicate with you. He said"Kat rumah" meaning At home.

  • @ailisamohdishak2387

Spaghetti is only for Johor laksa, since you're in Johor pls try out the Johor Laksa. It's authentic than you find in other states. For the Mee rebus it's yellow noodle. The coconut shavings in lontong is serunding kelapa. Very tedious to prepare the serunding. Lontong is prepared many different ways depending on the cook. The kacang pool looks delish🤤🤤
For the preserve mango, it's jeruk mangga. The kicap manis is call kuah colek.

Kacang pool in Johore looks much better than the one we have here in Penang which is only available at one place I could find. Portions of kacang pool itself here is so much smaller while they provided two thick pieces of bread which makes it insufficient. The rest of it I have have yet to find here. I should go to Johore one day to eat 😋

@@memoryla It's kinda far from Penang to Johore 🤣 My travel areas are mostly from Pg to Ipoh on the way to KL and up north to SP and Gurun. Kelantan is a place I want to go but like Johore, family not interested to go sadly 😥

Actually the dish with the ayam rendang is called lontong kering in johor.. it is the combination of compressed rice, peanut sauce, ayam rendang, serunding(coconut), sambal, and sayur goreng(vegetables)
