when i was a kid my mom decorated the house with a lot of things that were close to that 'eucalyptus green' sort of color, I'm just burned out on it now. I get why other people like it.
I usually paint mine with spray paint for plastic because i I don't buy "authentic" guitars so it's hard to find accessories that fit perfectly. I just did a pickguard for my red Epiphone sg, G&L Asat, and an old Sterling SUB Stingray and they all came out pretty nice and don't rub off. I did a few coats and bingo, also no sanding necessary 👍
That colour is a lot more appealing to me than a cherry red or black as I normally seen them. I've got out of phase on my guitar, but it's not something I use too often - I find that once the over drive is on and the gain up you lose any nuance :)
Wow, GFS pups in a Gibson that's cool. Goes to show you that using lower cost parts doesn't matter. All that matter is that you are happy with the sound. I found GFS today when looking for parts for my Hondo Short Scale bass. Love the video Ryan. Keep doing you buddy.
Just ordered a harness for my Epiphone SG and adding Dimarzio Evolution pickup set. Blackened the hardware with locking tailpiece and roller bridge for a red guitar . Locking hipshots tuners in black also. Got the coil tapping version with treble bleed. Alright Gunstreet! Thanks Ryan!
Those Faded Gibsons can be really nice. A friend of mine had a 2014 Faded SG, the anniversary model (120th?), think it’s the “SGJ”. I set it up and loved it. Super neck heavy though, it weighed barely 7 pounds.
I don't usually like relic-ing but on that guitar it looks good. The white knobs and pickguard work with that color too. I'd like to hear the various pickup tone combinations clean.
Absolutely incredible looking guitar, very aesthetic choices to me. The only thing that misses is the matching headstock colour. Ryan can you please mention the exact model and year of this SG?
I love those GFS pups, definitely going to put one in my SG Junior. My G400 pro has the out of phase middle setting by design, I can make it warmer or colder by a slight change in the volumes, it's pretty cool!
You can wire a 4-wire humbucker to be out of phase with itself, but it's near unusable. More use is a series/parallel switch which maintains phase. If you use an 3 postition microswitch you can have split as another option. Phase switch is only useful when you have a larger distance between pickups and their sensing area, as it partially cancels the fundamental frequency and low order harmonics and accentuates some of the higher order harmonics. This is more noticeable between neck and bridge than with any middle pickup combination, and the effect will be more pronounced with narrow sensing area single coils. Strat pickups, particularly with a taller construction than vintage like the DiMarzio True Velvet with a 16mm deep cover have a fairly well defined "comb" effect when out of phase, Tele neck pickups even more so. P90s have a sensing area much closer to a humbucker and don't exhibit as much as an effect. Of course the truly pedantic wind strat style pickups hot with a wider bobbin and no cover with just waxed tape for protection much like a humbucker in order to get a sound closer to a P90 and reduce the 'comb' effect.
just got a dream 180 for my sg's bridge and will be putting it in sometime soon, so this video is really timely (not too many dream 180 tone demos for SGs specifically)
Ha, the Phelem blue is a color that has been used for SG's but its very rare... Really a cool guitar and even the yellowing is normal for that color. Also that wiring harness is a cool deal..Rewire that thing.. Hope it fixes you right up. Certainly sounds a lot better. Cool, thanks.
The out of phase setting only works in the middle position. It only makes one pickup out of phase in relation to the other, so you need to hear both of them at the same time to hear them out of/in phase. Listening to the bridge on its own and then putting out of phase yields no change. You were tricking yourself.
As an electronic engineering student I felt pain during the "it sounds more quacky.." bit, but then I managed to get through it. Don't get me wrong, I would have probably made the same mistake years ago, when I knew nothing about electronics. It just made me realise how much we all (myself included) listen to what we want to hear instead of what is there to be heard... That's mostly why i felt pain
Ill be doing a follow up video on the out of phase setting soon. Messing around with it more its making a lot more sense to me. Im not surprised that i tricked myself, im very tricky like that.
Polaritypictures if you change a pickups volume while they are out of phase they become in-phase again. Both pickups need to be the same volume for the out of phase setting to work. I can't say why this is though. There is a RUclips video on this phenomenon somewhere.
Verdigris is the common name for a green pigment obtained through the application of acetic acid to copper plates or the natural patina formed when copper, ...AKA Patina.
From a pure Rock N' Roll (god I hate saying that...maximum cheese) point of view. The SG Special, and Junior, with P90's, is about as tonefully classic as you can get. Pure growl goodness. A friend of mine used to bend the neck on his 64' like a whammy bar... ...I do not recommend bending the neck like a whammy bar.
cone I thought about it, but I kind of like the tactile aspect of having them on the side my finger touches. It’s gives me a reference point as I tweak the knob. I might change it eventually but I’m liking how it is.
I totally thought it was an aged Pelham Blue SG that Gibson made, especially with the nice nice nitro relic. I recently got my SG refinished to Surf Green. I love the color, but I sometimes wished it was a little more pearl, like yours. imgur.com/a/Ysb7b
That colour is way cool. How can you not like it.
when i was a kid my mom decorated the house with a lot of things that were close to that 'eucalyptus green' sort of color, I'm just burned out on it now. I get why other people like it.
Fair enough.
A green SG with white plastics is something I’ve been wanting to create for a while now. Really cool looking!

my favorite thing about this is the contrast of the body finish and neck finish
That's one of the coolest looking SG's I've ever seen.
That colour is a lot more appealing to me than a cherry red or black as I normally seen them. I've got out of phase on my guitar, but it's not something I use too often - I find that once the over drive is on and the gain up you lose any nuance :)
Sweet SG. Love the t-short. I just picked up the overhive pedal.
I require more videos with this guitar. Sometimes about SGs push all the right buttons for me.
Faded Pelham blue is a good look on an older SG. Sounds great too!
the green guitar compliments well with your ginger complexion. colour circle.

That green with a white pick guard 👌, i just did the same "white" theme with my newly acquired $20 Red Epiphone SG
Gun street is awesome! I bought a harness and it is high quality and great craftsmanship. Also just all around great people to work with.
I don't usually like relic-ing but on that guitar it looks good. The white knobs and pickguard work with that color too.

I love everything about that guitar
Absolutely incredible looking guitar, very aesthetic choices to me.

Freaking love my 385! Keep on rocking buddy!
Mike Roadblock have you messed with the internal trimpots at all?
are the tone pots now linear taper now audio taper? and what were they before?
i think that colour is nice. looks nice with the chrome hardware
just got a dream 180 for my sg's bridge and will be putting it in sometime soon, so this video is really timely (not too many dream 180 tone demos for SGs specifically)
That out of phase sounds awesome. I love that color too. I’m not too big on Gibsons but that’s a very cool looking and sounding SG.
sup brahhhhh
Hi there.
great color. aged Pelham blue. I wonder what exact color the guy painted though to give the aged Pelham look
no idea, ive never seen a color option on reranch that matches it, im wondering if he used some kind of clear coat that yellowed it.
is a beautiful custom sg, I would like with a Duesenberg Les Trem II. matched with this gorgeous color. please make a Duesenberg Les Trem II review.

That is a stunning guitar, holy shit
Love it!
This is way too similar to my dream SG project. In my case it would be seafoam green with white plastics. I think yours look beautiful.
What is the red thing behind you with the P90 though? (just over your right shoulder)
Titan KR-1 by kauer guitars, easily the best playing guitar I own.
The bevle on that thing is nuts
Actually, that original wiring sound kind of sounded like an (onboard) Wah!
Ryan’s the best
Yeah I love this guitar

60 Cycle Hum oh, don't worry, we all are
Also you need to change the volume levels while in middle position to get the right balance, less Neck around 7-9, You'll hear a bit of crackling.

That is really nice looking
like the p90 in the neck sounds real good.
The color is Inverness green.
It’s Pelham blue that has aged
GFS pickups are great! A lot of people will say they're terrible, but they are not.
I'm guessing the paint was just thinner around the edges, which is pretty common.
Verdigris is the common name for a green pigment obtained through the application of acetic acid to copper plates or the natural patina formed when copper, ...AKA Patina.
The color is "Verdigris." 😀

YES -- sounds like you hate soldering as much as me! :)
agreed color is cool-- its an SG -- do whatever --
you should probably spin around your knob pointers so you can see what they are pointing at
cone I thought about it, but I kind of like the tactile aspect of having them on the side my finger touches. It’s gives me a reference point as I tweak the knob. I might change it eventually but I’m liking how it is.
Hmm well thats a different way to think about it. In fact thats kinda a good idea.
4 letter words are the best.....
$200 ? Wow !
i know! ill never sell it because i know ill never get that kind of deal again.
60 Cycle Hum Well, if you ever do i'll offer $150 right now ! 😅

Wanna sell it?
nope.
Too bad it has those chips on the paint .
A rude and nasty comment.
thank you!
