In Class with Carr, Ep. 208: "Committed or Uncommitted?"

- Processing our day-long teach-in at DuSable last week, the HistoryMakers conference in Atlanta and spending the last day of Black History Month at Dunbar High School gives us a chance to examine the importance of who tells the stories of our experiences and who interprets what the mean. Us being fully human in the world requires sacrifice. It requires us doing the right thing, even when it might cost something in the short term.

This show is the intellectual apex of RUclips, thank you so much Dr. Karen and Dr.Carr.
I swear on everything that "In Class" is the only thing I have that speaks to every part of me. Otherwise I feel like a revolutionary, spiritual, intellectual, ideological orphan
Good everything! Professor Hunter you and Dr. Carr pouring these clean glasses of water consistently!!! Got us changing the way we learn, think and move out here. Wouldn’t miss it for anything
😊😊😊
I just love these lectures. I feel more educated and connected each time I view your videos. Thank you for this excellent narrative.

"Professor Hunter"
I love in Class with Dr. Carr. I have to get back in Knarrative. This was awesome. Thank you all so much.
Great day to you Nubians!I love that Dr. Carr has his books organized according to his system. Learning and growing in knowledge every week. Thank you and God Bless!
The main key idea is , "we have to rely on ourselves"
I watch each and every Saturday and have been for over a year. I love the information. God bless and keep moving forward.
Quote, "When it comes to foreign policy, the Republicans & Democrat's are the same." Couldn't have said it any clearer. Thank you, Karen & Dr. Carr.
Building Brick By Brick . Amen 🙏🏾
Thank you Professor Karen Hunter. Thank you Dr Greg Carr .
Professor Hunter and Dr Carr, y'all are Blessing 🙏🏿us by building brick by brick 🛠 with book by book.📚
Wow. Another master class. I have been in
Class since day one. I’m getting a master education. Love the concept that we need to do for ourselves. Thank you Dr Carr and Prof Hunter
“Never a good time!” Dr. Africana! You’re the best!
Dr Carr is on fire today!🔥🔥🔥❤🔥👏👏👏
Dr. Carr....You are such a blessing. You took the tired words outta my mind with everything you spoke about Rashida Tlaib, Gaza, the reach of colonialism and the solidarity Black folks feel for her in Michigan. It's beyond frustrating that more people don't get the pointed effects of protest. This wasn't the general. It was a primary. Hopefully Biden got the sharp point of what went down in Michigan so he can step up and do better (and I'm not just talking about these funky aid drops from the damn sky). Rep. Tlaib isn't only speaking for herself and Palestinian-Americans & Muslim folks in Michigan -- She's standing up for EVERY person who identifies with those groups in this fucked colonialist U.S. enterprise. I think she knows full-well that we all need to step up, hold our noses and vote for Biden in the general. She abhors orange Mussolini as much as any of us do and she's probably all-too-aware of how much worse it would be for Muslim folks & Palestinian-Americans if he slithered back into office. The uncommitted vote was a protest message to Biden, period. I hope he heard it loud and clear.
She is the LONE Palestinian voice in congress. The only one there. She's facing waves of condemnation, misogyny and bigotry from the white nationalist GOP as well as members of her own party. Palestinian lives have NEVER mattered in the eyes of far too many in this world. I think a lot of us can imagine exactly how that feels. We need to stay on the side of humanity, keep building awareness, understanding and solidarity for ALL of us. That uncommitted primary vote was an extreme form of protest in the extreme times we're living in. Aaron Bushnell's extreme action was another powerful statement, as well, that's being minimized and spun by the media. Genocide is actively happening and much of the world isn't listening -- just like with what's happening in Africa, Haiti, Latin America and other regions in conflict. BBIMP's lives matter. We have a right to turn up the volume to protest, boycott, etc. when the ostriches in power keep burying their heads in the sand. Sorry for this mini-novel. Love you, Dr. Carr. I know you're SUPER busy juggling so many things, but I will never stop wishing you had a daily show on Sirius XM's Urban View like Lurie and Prof. Hunter. We need your powerful voice of reason, wisdom, knowledge and clarity. There are so many melanated talking heads out there caping for the status quo and afraid to tell it like it is. I can't wait to subscribe to Knubia/Knarrative. Be well, brother. Keep being you. You're helping so many of us stay sane in these insane times💖💖💖💖
Well said, SIs! Your mini novel is much appreciated.
@@peaceangel4192 👋💖 Thank you for hearing me. My mind has been so full with everything we're living through. Our weekly doses of In Class are such a blessing. Wish we'd all had teachers like Dr. Carr growing up. I can't wait to join Knubia & Knarrative. Stay strong and be well. Let's never stop learning.
This was beautiful. We are participating in and witnessing African descended history in the making. It is such, such a beautiful thing.
@@MooreVoicesMedia🙏Powerful blessings to you. I cosign on your words. It really is a beautiful thing 💟
Thank you Dr
HUNTER for having the foresight to start this platform. You an Dr. Carter give me hope that there are some good people still in our country and world.
Jim Gavins is a BEAST and a legend. There are many similar stories about Black physicians in training facing down racist patients from that era. Some residencies and subspecialty fellowships would not accept Black physicians.
Good evening everyone glad to get the broadcast again, so good everything because we're still here. ✊🏽
East St louis here. When you mentioned Dunham, I almost started crying. I use to do work at her house for historical reasons.
Thank you Prof Hunter and Dr. Carr for this class that is like no other. This class saved my life, as well- you will never know! Much love and respect.
I love Dr. Carr’s perspective on the NOI because he is right! You can’t deny who they are to us in the governance structure! We can learn a lot from the NOI! Let’s discuss in Knubia!
I would like to voice my opinion with regard to the Open slot that was filled by the Late, Great Mr. Joe Maddison. I sincerely Think and Believe that the time slot should be filled by Dr. Wilmer Leon. An obvious excellent choice!
Karen!!!! I’m in Knubia! I met Dr Carr on this trip to DuSable!!!!! ❤ Hope to meet you too, one day! 😊Our Knubia family is out there and growing! I made new friends in person!!!!! ❤
Sing Dr. Carr! 🎵💪🏾
Thank you for making me Smarter❤
.............And the minister said WELL! 😮😊❤
Hi to the both of you, y’all talked about Dunbar school I used to live on the same street of the real Dunbar in Dayton Ohio. The street was Broadway and I used to live like a couple of blocks from the real house that I used to go visit. Dunbar was a very important man in Dayton with the Wright brothers I didn’t know them. I never seen their house, but I did see their airplane here in Dayton Ohio, so why y’all was talking about that I just remember going back down memory lane y’all have a good show and I like it and I look at it all the time and I learned a lot keep up the good job..❤
Thanks for another great ICWC (E. 208), Prof. Hunter and Dr. Carr!
Sending healing wishes for Dr. Carr's speedy recovery (we need him singing again soon, lol).😊
Meanwhile, blessings to you both!!🙏🏾🖤💯
Good everything. Years ago, I got to hear Silas Purnell speak on his work. He's a legend, Chicago history. @D Grant in chat.
A mention of the inestimable professor, the late, great Dr. Claudia Tate, gets the thumbs-up ALONE. Everything else was gravy. A thoughtful class, this was.
Just let them know that the only reason that I have multiple subscriptions of SXM is because of 126 The Urban View AKA "The Power🦅"
Full Throttle Dr Carr today!
The bibliography is off the chain! 📚
Dialogues are essential
Always insightful taking me down so many rabbit holes thank you two for the sacrifice of time and your life to sow seeds for the future. Jackson Mississippi and Selma are in some serious trouble can you two enlightened us on the crisis in many of the southern cities that are struggling when I say us I mean with our young folks sad
Dr. Karen Hunter, you already know that you and Dr. Carr are joyously too much 😅
I don't know the names of the different types or kinds of nails used for building, but Dr. Carr hit them all when he mentioned talking about someone and not knowing them, but he was truly on point. We do it all the time, it's part of the Proverbs 22:6 training. There so many from different walks of life that they can bless with so much that is foreign to us; we talk about them clueless of what they have to offer.
Thanks for this new March month basket of bread and fish fragments. We are blessed to partake and enjoy the meal, so we are not lost. ❤
Thank you so very much Professor Hunter and Dr. Carr. I deeply appreciate what you said about Ocho Cinco "wanting to be Black."
The divisions and debilitating distrust among African Americans and Latinx was bred by our respective colonizers.
My greatgrandmother told my sister she'll never forget the smell when her bother was branded. That was in Puerto Rico.
Behold The White Pale Horse!!!❤❤❤❤
Oceans of blessings y'all ❤️❤️❤️
Chills when baba Carr pulled out the Funambulist 😊 whilst looking at my version here on the kitchen table
Love this Every Week
Dr. Hunter I did it. Still listed as R. I am losing my drive to fight back, because most of the people around me do not vote at all.
Thanks for the extras, I'm glad for anything you wish to share ..helps me get out of my head sometimes
Aw crap, now I can’t get the chorus to “your love deserves….” Out o my head…. Thanx Dr. Carr…😒😂
Good evening 🌎🌍 may we never forget. InezArnetta 🌹

“Some people are often led to causes and often become Committed to great ideas through persons who personify
Those ideas. They have to find the embodiment of ideas
in flesh and blood in order to commit themselves.”

The Educovllle Times "GREAT AND SUNNY
COMMITMENT & CHANGE" Edition
If you’re not willing to change, then you aren’t committed to anything beyond what you currently have. If you don’t believe you can change, then you can’t commit to anything beyond what life randomly throws at you.
Your life is a reflection of you. If you want to change your life, you have to change yourself. If you want to change the world, you have to be that change.
Only Those Who Are Committed Succeed.
If you’re truly committed to something, you will shape the circumstances which support your commitment. You’ll let go of even things you once loved, which contradict the ambitions you truly want.

Random question, was the Dr. John Henrik Clarke episode removed from Knarrative? I have been looking for it, but have been unable to find it.

Ankh Udja Seneb ✊🏾
I have some ideas about what we ought to be doing.
Would we be able to clarify what we are already doing, so that it will be easier to plug places that appear to need reinforcing?
Good afternoon family. Noticing that Dr Carr’s have less books surrounding him. Are they bringing curated in a Nubian space Just wondering
Amnesia is American Identify 😂😂😂😂
Such a great point Karen regarding changing party affiliations as a strategy. The same way the MAGA maniacs overwhelmed the GOP we can do the same thing by sheer numbers. I've been screaming this for years. And we were once all Republicans because the dixiecrats would NOT have us!
Then when the Democratic party allowed the African descended vote, the dixiecrats seceded and took to the Republican party. None of the parties are home for us, just tools...just tools...

Hello
@knarrative, @karenhunter, Thank you for sharing the book "Africobra: Experimental Art toward a School of Thought" - Wadsworth A. Jarrell. Such an amazingly beautiful book. It now too is in my archive. P.s. Reading Théophile Obenga's "African Philosophy - Pharaonic Period: 2780-330BC". All because of recommendations that Dr. Carr introduced us to. Thank you from the bottom of my soul. Knubia & Knarrative st nfrt (The beautiful place) given by the show nfrw (The beautiful (or perfect) powers.
