Growing up in Knoxville, TN during the Peyton Manning era I remember the talk of Ryan Leaf having an “NFL arm” and people debating rather Leaf should be the no.1 pick over Manning. Watching this video now after Manning became one of the top 5 greatest QBs of all time and Leaf being the biggest bust in history is hilarious.
Gameday was as must see as the games themselves back then! I remember this weekend. I was 18. The NFL began the following day. And my mom was out of town. So we had a mini NFL kickoff party on Sunday. Back before Delaware sold alcohol on Sundays. So we had to drive to Maryland to get beer. My Giants beat the Eagles. And The 49ers Bucs was the early game I believe? When Rice blew his knee out.
