No other profession in the world are 60 year olds compared to the work that they performed when they were 20. I'm just happy my heroes are having fun and giving us new material.
@@LeoHoxtonI Lot's of stuff are particularly good since '91 (not '93, they didn't release anything in 93). Their fans, millions of them, believe the opposite of what you say. That's what counts.
@@vasileiosk96 By '93 Lars and Kirk were gettin' worse. By '95, they were downtuning. When I last see 'em at Earls Court, in '96, they were average, and incorporated awful load songs. 'tallica couldn't do what AIC did with Jar of Flies/SAP. Or what stoner rock bands did, like Kyuss and "Green Machine, I'm Loadin"
My initial reaction is that this one for me will be a lot like Confusion on the last album, where the song itself is "good", but it's the message that's important. I love what James said about this one in the email that got sent out to announce the song, continuing the "you are not alone" message he's been pushing with Fade To Black these last couple of years. I do like this song, not as much as Lux Aeterna, but I'm not going to be skipping over it when listening to Metallica in the car.
It reminds me of the groove of reload with their modern production. I like it. It definitely grows. It's a tune ive cranked in the car while driving fast. It works for that 🤣🤣 To me this is the most fresh Metallica have sounded in quite some time. Organic, fun and just doing what they do. I'm not expecting a "metal" album from guys pushing 60. Another hard Groove rock album would be killer.
Except "Inside"/"Suicide"/"Cyanide" again, which they already did in - you guessed it - Cyanide from Death Magnetic. James is old now, so he probably forgot about having those lyrics in another song already. XD
Last part of Kirk's solo was basically a part od Deep Purple's "Space Trucking" from Live in Japan, when Ian and Ritchie had a bit of a vocal guitar challenge on stage
I personally love their songs like this more than lux. Not a huge fan of the quick, meaningless thrashy songs. Now their more recent, longer thrashy songs like all Nightmare long and spit out the bone are amazing. But I feel they really excel at these types of songs.
I'm just enjoying what Metallica's doing. Like, if you want Master Of Puppets, go ahead and listen to it. This isn't as great, but I understand they did what they wanted, what makes them feel good, and that's fine.
Heard it a couple of times now and it is a grower for sure!! One thing is for sure... these guys are fucking TIGHT nowadays! They got that perfect chug synch again in a way I haven't heard since the God-State days! I think they chose this song as their second single due to it being a different tempo to Lux Aeterna, the message being important, and they have learned not to throw out all the best jewels first.
Os mestres do Heavy, lendas do metal.... voltaram com tudo!!!! PQP !!! Esses caras nunca decepcionam, monstro Papahet! 💀🎸🎤🎶 Metallica é minha banda favorita !!! 🤘🏼☠🔥
Definite Black album vibes as Lux Aterna had Kill em All vibes. Would be cool if all the songs on the new album had vibes from different albums. I would look forward to the MOP one.
Digging this quite a bit! Both songs have been good and I am very excited for the record. It’s not gonna be another Puppets or Justice and you know that’s ok with me. Just got tickets to see them in Detroit in Nov, with Pantera non the less! Gonna be a good year for Metallica!
I’ve listened to Metallica since their conception, and have been a huge follower. In the past, I’ve had to be in the mood to listen to their music. It was never something I could listen to over and over on a daily basis, and I love their music. But because of how the songs were arranged and composed, I just couldn’t listen daily. Their new music is different, and more listener friendly. It pulls you in the more you listen, and you want to listen more. I’ve always appreciated how each album had its own identity, good or bad. It gives them so much live diversity, as well as listening diversity. People are jumping the gun to criticize way too fast. Be thankful they’re still writing for our enjoyment. They could’ve easily released another St. Anger…
I had Black album vibes as well but the more I listen to it the more I hear what merits the song actually has. It’s definitely a grower. Great video guys.
Bro’s, they’re all around 60 years old & STILL making you guys ponder within GREAT MUSIC. This is an awesome joint & the album will be likewise. Hell, this is coming from a BLACK DUDE! Never mind ME, because I still ROCK #WhereverIMayRoam. The live version on Howard Stern & the performance in Germany is STILL CLASSIC! Although, these are just my humbled opinions, yet keep doing your thing with the reactions, because WE need it!
I just hope the songs are not long af than they should be. That's what I hated about hardwired. I love these guys but at this point I am more hype for the In Flames and Avatar albums.
They'll probably play it faster in concert :) I really liked the bass in this one, I think the video was genius in literally highlighting bass on top and bottom. I don't immediately hear the bass in songs, but the visuals helped me appreciate it.
OMG!! The tempo issue is my main criticism of this song. The tempo changes before the guitar solos don't work. Somehow, the ones after the solo do. There could be an amazing three and a half minut edit of this song. I still really like it. It just could be better.
the dude on the right, I'm sorry I don't know your name, but good comments about not knowing what to expect going in to it and his generally review is so prefect. I think it was very fair as well and resonates to how I'm feeling about the song.
You guys are very quick! I like the new song. It has the 80's NWOBHM riffs and some punk vibes to it. I liked Lux Æterna more, but this one is good. Now I can see what direction they're going. It's gonna be a positive, amped up album. Let's wait and see what they'll release next.
My thoughts are very much in line with Vileself. It's definitely a grower. I really didn't like it at first and with subsequent listens, it has grown on me quite a bit.
As someone who has been into thrash for years I found some of these riffs especially the back end of the track just very predictable and generic, it's not a bad song at all but other than the intro taking me of guard and some good lead work (albeit maybe abit too short) I just found it abit too predictable
I mean in my personal Opinion it most definitly sounds like Metallica. But thats it. Lux Aeterna and this one feel like safe songs for me. I dont know. i hope the other songs will be a step above those two. because currently i dont feel it
I think is song is pretty good. I personally liked it more than Lux Aeterna but just slightly. James's vocals on this seemed more dynamic and I just dug it. Thought what album this may be on, to me it would fit on a cleaned up St. Anger
This song at first when it came out I found it kinda meh, I wasn't crazy about it. Fast forward 3 months later it not only grew on me but screaming suicide surrounded by the other songs on their full length 72 seasons seems to shine and it now slaps.
You boys need a pallet cleanser. A reaction for Meet Your Maker by In Flames will scratch that itch. Fuckin' Patrick Ullaleus, he's the perfect director for such a single. And what a single, holy shit...
I’m getting a big themed album vibe from these singles. It’s going to be hard to isolate one song and say is it good or not without hearing the entire album. Just my opinion
Its a garage Inc song.. straight forward, no epic metallica.. i wish it was a cover cus im not feeling it. But I wait for final tought to the final record, in the big picture it can be great.
It's a cool song, and I don't think it needs faster tempo.... But it needed to stay in some gloomy rhythm and darker flair.... But it had some bluisy rocky jump outs from the theme, which is somewhat weird.... But overall a cool song
I think people tend to focus more on the music, the riffs, the temp.. Etc. More than the lyrical conetns with Metallica.. Which is totally understandable keeping in mind how riff-heavy this band has been. But really in later albums context matters even more than before, and subject matter here would PROBABLY sound off had it been in a higher tempo (with this current riff structure that is), but I agree this is a grower not a shower type of songs, when u read the lyrics along, it hit harder. Either ways, and as always with new metal songs esp bands as big as Metallica, I will of course be listening to it multiple times before I decide for a fact if it's a song I like or not. Cheers.
I'm trying to like it, but the main pentatonic riff is kinda basic, and Kirk delivered another lackluster blues solo IMO.... It sounds like a combo of The Black Album and Load. I'm starting to realize how much I liked Death Magnetic in this newer era of Metallica. With the exception of "Spit out the Bone" on the last album, Death Magnetic felt like the last time the band tried to push their boundaries, especially with songs like "The Day that Never Dies" and the "Suicide & Redemption" Instrumental.
For metallica songs they ususally have couple catchy riffs or transitions in their songs that stay in my head and i wanna listen to again but after 2 listens kinda just feel its alright, nothing memorable in it that id have have it on repeat, i agree a fatser tempo would make it better.
