Joe I lived in Michigan retired and moved to Albania you have helped me so much I’m a first year beekeeper and you’ve helped me with a lot of good information keep up the good work enjoy your videos
The sound is fantastic and the picture is clearer than it was last year too. Great video Joe! Thanks for taking the time to share. You've really taught me a lot.
I’ve learned so much from watching you. But the hive tool is on of my favorites. I couldn’t justify a breeder this year but I got some of the same genes coming. Thanks for all your hard work
Huge improvement on your mic...love it and love the photography...good detail. Am a beginner bee keeper and enjoy the mix of teaching on your site. Something for everybody. Thanks, Joe!
Excellent tip on using QE and empty box to check for queen on frame loaded with bees! I missed a queen the other week and now have a nice nuc with the old queen and the parent colony now in the process of making a new queen. Not my intent, but it will still work. Will use your technique the next time!
DAY and night sound change - thanks for going the extra mile toward sharing with us! But Joe - PLEASE don't forget your friends when Hollywood calls! :)
Now don't be nervous. Be excited! Also, make sure you get at least two hives going so you have a reference point to compare and see if something is wrong and don't get stuck losing the only hive you had to a problem you didn't even realize you have. 'Wishing you all the best, James!
Hi Joe I am fairly new to beekeeping. I like to hang out near the hives. Every time I spent any time near one particular hive, one bee was there to chase me off. So I settled in to my seat near that hive and was about to get stung, I decided to hold my ground, had to sting her before she got me. The yard was fine after that. I do think it was one hateful bee with a hate on for me. Problem solved. ☺
Hey Joe, great video as always, Mic is unreal, camera is awesome, out of curiosity, at 18:30 when you shake the frame, why is it that the queen doesn't get tossed off with all the others?
Explain if you will how if the breeder queen cannot lay out the hive that you have to add brood frames to support the hive, then how is that accomplishing what you are trying to do with a breeder queen
Sometimes you can get a breeder that is to pure (inbreed) and she will lay depoyld eggs the bees will eat them and not let them hatch. When you make queens out of her and they open mate they will be super queens.
@@LittleBitsHoneyBeesjoemay, do you have them covered with hardware cloth or screen on the inside? Or are they open for the bees to come out if they want? And thanks for the information.
@@LittleBitsHoneyBeesjoemay, thank you Joe, I have had bees for about 6 years this time around, I had bees back in the early 80s & things were a lot different then. So thank you again I will be putting holes in my boxes. I have several that I just built to change my existing hives come Spring. One more question while I have you online, when & if the bees Propolis covers the screen do I need to replace the screen next year? Do you use a screen or hardware cloth? I have both! Thanks & God Bless.
You said VSH comes from the drone. I thought I’d read recently that temperament comes from the drone and hygienic properties come from the queen. Is this not correct?
Ok, I understand breeding for genetics but if they lay wonky eggs what good are they? Where does it go from there so people do get those genetics in their hives. I just don't get it.
ROCK STAR!! Everyone else edits out the things that go wrong, you teach with them. Thank you, learned so much on this video!

Mic sounds great. Good to see what you do when things are not as you expect!
Keep em coming.
The sound is great; thought for a minute that she was caught under the edge of the cage! Good video Joe

The wireless mic sounds great. In the past when you walked away from the camera I could barely hear you. You have it perfect now.
a tip: watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching loads of movies lately.
@Zaiden Deandre Definitely, I have been watching on Flixzone for since november myself :)

Phew, my heart almost skipped a beat at 5:29, thought the queen was going to get squished, glad she finally wiggled her way out of that one
yea I about got her.
Sounds awesome Joe
The mike sounds great 👍
Sounds great. Very interesting video. Can you graft from them?
Nice new set up camera and mic. Do you like them both, ease of use.
The wireless Mic sounds great!
Nice channel thanks for sharing!
I like the sound of new mic.
I learned so much from this video
South good to me much better. Thanks for sharing
how do you take care of all those hives?
I always worry about squishing base when I put the Hive back together.
Mic works great.
The wireless mic sounds great...
Hey Joe, great video as always, Mic is unreal, camera is awesome, out of curiosity, at 18:30 when you shake the frame, why is it that the queen doesn't get tossed off with all the others?
I thought she did. I think he picked her up from within the box. She might have been walking on top of the excluder.
I would be happy to know what state you keep bees in.West Virginia?
Awesome
south central Indiana about 50 miles due south of Indianapolis
great video Joe was wondering how long you leave your new queens caged up before releasing them ?
Not over 4 days of open mated queens and not over 7 days for II queens

You the man thank you...
Joe. Can you share with me what camera and mic combination you are using? They seem to be working really well. Thanks!
It is a Cannon EOS M50 the mic is Pixel Mk-7
@@LittleBitsHoneyBeesjoemay Thanks, Joe! I enjoy your channel!
Makes me feel better that an expert still misses her sometimes.
Are the Queen you got from Sue Coby Buckfast
Sounds great .. could you do a video explaining how they fertilize a queen without a flight .. thanks
They don't
Looks and Sounds good Joe. What camera/wireless mic are you using now?
pixel M-7
Did you get that queen from Jason
What the story behind the tall deep brood boxes?
I don't sale honey they needed space so I put the third deep on them.
what mic and camera do you use?
Sound good
It looked like you were going to squish her; you lifted cage up second time I was like oh no then I seen her get clear;
Hey Joe, I noticed that all your boxes had a hole in the side, do you have a hole on both sides & what is the reason for those? Love your videos!
They are vent holes and they are on both sides.
@@LittleBitsHoneyBeesjoemay, do you have them covered with hardware cloth or screen on the inside? Or are they open for the bees to come out if they want? And thanks for the information.
@@jacksparrow1292 they are covered with screen wire.

Got 3 virgins coming of that Martha Carpenter Mite Mauler genetics--any advice?? Just wanted to use my own drones....
Why don't u use your smoker? The new set up sounds great.
Can you include a link to purchase these queens ?
It is littlebitshoneybees.com, I am sold out into late June
You said VSH comes from the drone. I thought I’d read recently that temperament comes from the drone and hygienic properties come from the queen. Is this not correct?
I don't know when I ai with vsh drone the vsh level comes up in my queen.
Where can I get one of those robbing screens for my Nucs.
I 3D print my own but I have a video i think in quick tips on how to make one from 1/8 hardware cloth.
Mike sounds great. Video quality not so much. Everything was grainy and blurry.
The microphone is working well.
Very nice

Hey Joe, I hope the queen in 106 is ok. It looked like you pinned her under the cage when you released her,,,she didn't act right after that
she was fine
👂🖒
Joe you almost impaled her.
checked her today laying just fine.
Medium frame in a deep nuc ? hmmmm
There is a reason behind it. They draw drone comb on the bottom of the med, I need a lot of drones
good wireless.. just talk in normal voice as your are for the most part....
you almost killed the queen . you dropped the cage on her .little after 6 minutes in the video.check on her again make sure shes laying .
no she was up on top of the cage when I laid it down the other bees held the cage up and she cawed under it.
The spitting has to go. Gross.
Don't watch!!!
Little Bits Honey Bees I went ahead and unsubscribed. Thx.
thank you
