I went through a lot of stuff with hybrids, crossovers and woods - I ended up with 3 and 5 wood =) When i Figured out how to game woods, they are easy to hit - for me I just hit them like my 5 or 4 iron, nothing fancy about it and they are just super easy to launch.
Yeah I recently got the g425 hybrid great stopping power. I have a lower ball flight so it works for me. I must say I do learn allot from your videos. I Having watched this video I do find the g425 sometimes goes a bit all over due to my swing speed which is moderate to fast
@@2ndswing I will circle back after my fitting (in Canada). My current irons are 2008 AP1’s (ancient, I know!), so I’m looking to take advantage of modern technology. Will let you know what I end up with. 😀
@@Kerwonderful hey take a serious look at 7 or 9 wood rather than 3 hybrid. I have the g425 3 hybrid and am about to buy the 3 wood kinda wished I had the 7 wood

I love my G410 3 hybrid!!! When the fairway gets tight, that is my go to club, long, straight with a little height, won't roll into the rough. Can't wait to try G425 3 wood. Love my G410 driver!
Feedback- Thomas if I could offer some feedback, I don’t know if it’s the sky back drop or the color of the tracers, but from a viewers point of view once it apex’s it hard to see the tail end sometimes. Just wanted to throw that out there
Hey guys - hope you're all well. I've just ordered these when getting a fitting. I'm a little unsure whether I got the right shaft for the club. I've got a couple questions: 1. How much difference does the shaft make? Is it something I can get used to with practice? 2. Can I change the shaft if needed to? Thanks in advance. Happy golfing!
I’ve hit all 3 20 hdcp swing speed pretty fast driver averages 108 ish and the 7 wood is just more forgiving than both the hybrid and iron gets up easy and goes a long way
I would say though the ping hybrid was BY FAR the best hybrid I tried and I tried all the majors for me it was the most forgiving I just don’t get why people don’t just use 5 and 7 woods in their bags
Was was interested in the 7 wood too, just worried about too much spin as well as yardage gaps. Run with a ping 425 driver and mizuno 5 wood (playing like 4 wood) probably going with a 4 hybrid ( lowered loft) or a 3 iron crossover then 4iron in mu set.
@@jefferymcevoy9373 I'm a bit scared of the high spin numbers, I'll try and hit up some demo days this summer and see how the 7 wood, 9 wood and hybrid all compare.
The Hybrid is listed at D1 swing weight while the heavier Crossover is D2. Is that what your versions were at with the tour shafts? Do you think bumping the hybrid swing weight would have helped you feel and control the clubface better?
An interesting comparison test comes down to preference, do you prefer an iron look feel or hybrid look, and are you after distance or control, most likely only better players would opt for the crossover
Thanks for watching! You're right, every player has his/her own appearance preferences. Thomas is a better player opting for a Crossover/utility look, but there are a lot of pros that like the look of a hybrid or even a higher lofted fairway wood.
That's a bit simplistic. Not mentioned is that the 3-hybrid is statically an inch longer. It's also a terrible shaft to put in an iron if you want stopping power. If you want a driving iron with rollout, it's perfect. But then to say you want stopping power, well, you get one or the other. If you want the iron to stop, it won't fly quite as long, and has to have a higher-trajectory shaft in it. Hybrids are designed to spin and land, not carry out. Driving irons are designed to carry out, and not spin. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The main point of the video you mention at the end. Hybrids or even higher lofted fairway woods are designed to spin and not roll as far while driving irons will have less spin. Thanks for watching - Thomas
I just got the G425 hybrid and love it. Easy to hit and at my age (61) gives me a little more confidence.
Great stuff! Thanks for watching, Greg!
I've had the crossover 3 for almost 2 months now and I love it. I'm getting close to the same distance as my 3 wood but with a higher launch angle.

Happened to me too. Two options that I know of: loft down and smooth out the swing or swap in a stouter shaft. I chose the former.
I’m getting fitted in May for new irons and a 3 hybrid. Thanks for the great video, this will help me a lot. Love 2nd Swing!

Hi Thomas, great vid. I was wondering when you plan to conduct a head to head test of various utility irons?

My driver swing speed is 102-105
I have a distance hole in my bag that these will help. I might hit the hybrid off the tee more, too
I've tried all sorts of hybrids and can't seem to get them to work near as well as my gapr lo
Love the comparison, could we get some testing comparing driving iron vs hybrid vs fairway woods off the tee as well as off the ground?
Now you’re talking. That would be a good comparison.
7 wood ALL DAY LONG
Replying to my Own reply. Compare all three clubs with the same loft.
