I played this at a gig in a small but packed bar in Queens NY I used to DJ at back in the day, and the whole damn crowd went ballistic. They loved it. People from their 20s to their 60s rocked out to this track. It was crazy.
@Sergio S Well, these don't really have metal parts, but rock mixed with soul/R&B type stuff: •En Vogue - Free Your Mind •Janet Jackson - Black Cat •Michael Jackson - Earth Song (it's more of a ballad, but things get super soul-rockish halfway thru the song)
For the same reason Metallica worked so well with Michael Kamen. There's a symphony aspect there that horns or an orchestra just meshes with perfectly.
reminds me of debut patton era FNM, cuz that dude has some soul in his pipes. just listen to FNM cover Lionel Ritchie (Commodores - Easy. i'm not into that type music until I saw them do this on Letterman many years ago and I wasn't really a big Patton fan, i rathered the punkrocker in a dress era We Care A Lot lol.
I've listened to this several times and the other day while I was in a store Superstitious was playing over the sound system and I thought "There's something missing." Your work has definitely made an impact on me. Well done Sir.
BEST MASHUP EVER. I do some DJ gigs and this one always packs the floor. So awesome to feature 2 generations of music, and two radically different genres at one time. Great audio quality as well. With mega respect, DJ Will D'Beats Canada ;0)
Jess Jones is an awesome name as well.......for a couple of decades, I was a heavy rock drummer. When I DJ, I often play live electronic percussion, along with my DJ sets. That's where 'Will D'Beats' came from. Thanks for taking the time to comment.......All the best
OMG where has Wax been all my life. First I found you 15 minutes ago by way of Facebook posting (Bee gees and AC/DC) which is better than the original. And now this is the second One I am hearing. Simply amazing.
Dude has such an AMAZING EAR and sense of rhythm...this sounds like an original except that I can hear a very very subtle difference between audio quality between the two tracks, which can’t be helped and if I had never lived with a sound engineer I probably wouldn’t have noticed. Amazing work!
Been listening to the shit out of this since I came across the video a year ago. So good I want to see a band attempt this live. Those horns sound amazing with metal. Holy crap.
racewiththefalcons1 there's a video on here titled "Fire and ice tribute" the channel that posted it is called "danael" I suggest you check it out if you haven't already.
the king of metal would have to be Iron Maiden or Dio even if MEtallica coula compare to them they still wouldn't hold the title as they play thrash, now king of thrash metal is more in their reach, except it isn't as the title is currently held by basically any of the other big four
I played this at a gig in a small but packed bar in Queens NY I used to DJ at back in the day, and the whole damn crowd went ballistic. They loved it. People from their 20s to their 60s rocked out to this track. It was crazy.
as they should
Fantastic haha!
What bar in Queens
I think we might have a new DJ mixing genre!
Dude I’m playing this live with my band. It kicks and people love it!!It doesn’t hurt that it’s SO fun to play!!!
I would totally dig Soul Metal as a genre.
SAME!
If anybody finds more of this genre add here, I'm looking it up too
Kings X?
“24-7 Spyz” Heavy Metal Soul.. look them up!

Why do the horns go so perfectly? This is dope
For the same reason Metallica worked so well with Michael Kamen. There's a symphony aspect there that horns or an orchestra just meshes with perfectly.
Well, don't you know that you ALWAYS throw the horns in metal...!?
@@sabershenanigans 🤟
Because the sad but true riff and the clavinet lick are basically the same.
Love the concept of Soul-Metal. And that shot of Grover gets me every time.
Could you imagine being at a Stevie Wonder concert, and all the sudden Metallica comes out and they jam to this.
And the funky bell bottom wearing people gets ravaged by kids with long hair who headbangs XD
It would make history
Stevie would dig it too
And sing im your eyes when you can't see😅😅
@@kwnwps Your comment made me cry😂😂😂
I've been listening to mashups for a few hours and I came to conclusion, metal blends in perfectly with just about every genre
I reckon it's mostly because they have pretty consistent slow riffs
Distortion makes everything better
@@hf3923 No, it's because they have good melodies. Dance pop is basically metal with a different sound. Beethoven in just metal plain and simple.
Thats also because Metal has taken inspiration from just about every Genre
I've been wanting Abba and Air Supply Metal for years
This is actually one of the better mashups I've ever heard
Can confirm.
it's unbelievable how much these two work together!!!!!!!
soul metal needs to be a thing for real
reminds me of debut patton era FNM, cuz that dude has some soul in his pipes. just listen to FNM cover Lionel Ritchie (Commodores - Easy. i'm not into that type music until I saw them do this on Letterman many years ago and I wasn't really a big Patton fan, i rathered the punkrocker in a dress era We Care A Lot lol.
beha8tin Faith No More flirted with it.
Definitely Faith No More were kind of feeling this kind of sound. Also Living Color.
beha8tin Funk Metal is pretty similar
You should check out Zeal and Ardor.
Heavy funk ? I'm all for it !!
warner kurt Funk Metal yup
Primus already sorta did that
Heavy soul
Soul, rock, jazz, r&b, and blues go hand in hand; this here is magic.
Why has this not happened in real life? Stevie and the boys could still get together and pull this off.
Tom Pinkerton right? Instead of lulu metallica should have done something with stevie
I think exactly the same.
Not wanting to sound crazy it would be a match made in heaven
@@mattbartolovich8228 In this reality we got rap metal. Partly due to Anthrax and Public Enemy.
Stevie said he can't see it happening
Now THIS is the music of the future. Imagine blasting this while cruising across a post-apocalyptic landscape in your rusted armored vehicle.
This is the sound roaring out the speakers of mad max' furious falcon

When Dave Mustaine and Stevie Wonder left Metallica, it was never the same.
Dammit! Now I have coffee all over my office desk.
Hilarious.
HAHA xD xD
In an alternate reality Alcoholica is a real thing, that stayed......
That’s funny!
Please don’t ever stop making these mashups. This is incredible stuff.
Stevie is now officially a member of Metallica and your argument is invalid...
Better than Lou Reed with Metallica. (RIP Lou Reed)
+Zombifyed God that was a terrible album.
+Adam Hufnagel What was? I have no memory of such a thing :p
Lou was good person, but I never get a taste of his music...
Roman Výmola can I get a YEAH!!! in Stevie's voice
In a word? FLAWLESS.
In a word YEP! LOL.. This is amazing.
Almost could be a Living Colour song
who's a better drummer? Lars or Will Calhoun?
Will. I freakin LOVE Metallica. Always have. But Lars can't keep a beat to save his life.
Cult of Superstition lmao
I'm looking at your photo, you are a funny guy!
Will
I love this so much. When I hear "Sad But True" now, I change the lyrics to Stevie's "Superstition". 🤘

This is by far the best mashup I've ever heard in my life.

3:59 I can see how happy Stevie is with his song being mashed-up with Metallica's. Thanks Wax.
I would genuinely listen to soul metal. This is beyond the fun element it has undoubtedly created; this is actually awesome as a song.
No way! You wouldn't believe these two songs go together - but they do! Soul Metal indeed
How could anyone give this a thumbs down? This made my day!!! Awesome!
This mashup just brought in a whole new meaning to the genre, Groove Metal! :D
I saw this and thought it would be terrible honestly. One of the best mashups yet. Stevie seasoned with Metallica crunch is addictive!
Can't find the right word for this really. Awesome is no where close so lets call it Legendary! Loving the Soul-Metal stuff!!

Both instrumenals and all vocals work together... The perfect mashup!
Grover screaming. Gotta love it.!
