As just a long time gamer in general, I always enjoy trophies and achievements that call out other games. Doesn't matter if it's subtle or not. Always kind of funny and cool to give a nod to another game.
I always get a small burst of happiness whenever I see a Jak and Daxter reference in a Naughty Dog game. I do wish we'd get another game in the series at some point though
I'm hesitant. On the one hand I'd buy it in a heartbeat, I even played that awkward racing game. On the other hand, I'm not sure ND could recapture the spirit of that series. They've embraced a sort of......joyless artistry that I think would clash with it.
@@soulreapermagnum I mean maybe, but the third game basically had the story come full circle as Jak was revealed to be Mar all along, having been born in the future city, "opened" the precursor stone (which could only be opened by Jak but was left by Mar), traveled back in time, grown up in the past, traveled back to the future, became a hero, explored sets of ruins created by "Mar" that only "the true heir of Mar" could traverse, met the precursors, found out his real name is Mar (as in he was the founder of the city), traveled back in time with the precursors to found the city and set up the events that would lead to him later saving the city and defeating the metalheads, making sure to set up obstacles that only he could ever traverse, and traveled back to the future moment he left from to pick up where he left off with his good buddy, Daxter. Also, the cheeky thing about the Seal of Mar being an infinity symbol is not lost on me, as his entire life is one big time loop.
That Ghost of Tsushima trophy was the last one I got. Everything on that game is super intuitive but that one is almost imposible to figure out by your own. I would have gotten the platinum without any guide if it wasn't for that armor set
The Sly Cooper one was so heartwarming to me that I genuinely squealed when I first came across it. Sly Coopers were not the first games I played, but they were the first games that I played that felt "mine". I hadn't watched my sister or cousins play them first. I got good at them on my own. They also ignited my love for the "lovable rogue" -type of characters. Hell, they even helped me learn and hone my English (not my first language). So when playing Tsushima, a game I was falling in love with, finding all pieces of the Cooper Clan cosplay got me really excited^^
I wasn't expecting to hear that much about Seattle in this video, but I'm here for it. I mean, literally here. Not a zombie, though, at least last time I checked. Anyway: this video reminded me of one of my favorite little references to another PS game in Horizon Forbidden West, although sadly there's no trophy for it. If you see a fox in the game that comes up as "Inari" on your Focus, I suggest following it.
Didn't you watch the final episode where it turns out they've been living in a post apocalyptic wasteland and the whole thing was a fantasy dreamed up by Niles as a coping mechanism while the new overlords of the earth (who look suspiciously like Eddy the dog) tore the last bit of humanity from him before assimilating him into the slave hive mind? Personally I thought it was an odd twist but it did make the whole concept of those socially inept snobs not being punched in the face daily more believable.
"And when he had looted all the 5 star restaurants, gourmet food stores and wineries, Niles Crane was forced to look elsewhere for basic survival supplies. He would begin his epic journey south to... Napa."
Sure, that God of War reference in Astro is fun, but that exact same area has another trophy that genuinely made me do that pointing Leonardo DiCaprio meme irl out of sheer joy SPOILERS There's a tiny snowball you can make massive. You get a trophy for doing this, and it's a Katamari reference. Which I didn't expect, which is probably why I got so excited about it
Ghost of Tsushima has a Bloodborne reference as well. I've only seen it in capture since I haven't played the game, but there's some armor Jin can find (might be in the DLC) and it's directly called the Yharnam set or something like that. Astro's Playroom never fails to make me smile. If I'm having a rough day and/or can't decide what I want to play, I'll run through a couple levels of Astro's Playroom. Mainly GPU Jungle because I love the music.
The DLC has armour sets for God of War, Bloodborne, Shadow of the Colossus, and Horizon: Zero Dawn - an armour for each class in the multiplayer. Its a real nice small love letter to PlayStation and its exclusives from Sucker Punch
Astro Bot is freaking adorable. I need to pull out my VR headset one of these days and give Rescue Mission another spin. (You get a cute trophy in Astro's Playroom for turning on the PSVR and taking a peek at what's playing, by the way.)
For the commenter edition, which I'm sure is coming; The Surge, when you get your drone you receive a Trophy called "Hey, Listen!". A lovely little nod to the Zelda series.
i caught the easter egg in the video! at 3:10 you can see Andy's smartwatch states 12:34. which, the most eagle eyed viewers amongst us will know 1 2 3 and 4 are indeed the first four letters of the numerical alphabet. cheeky devils.
Days Gone has a Ghost of Tsushima reference. Get enough stealth kills, and you get the achievement "Ghost of Farewell" (the Oregon town that the game is set near). Also, no shout-out to Assassin's Creed 2, and it's "Sorry, Ezio, your principesa is in another castle" achievement? For shame!
Okay, your reactions to the references in Astro's Playroom is absolutely adorable, and justifies me squeeing over the "Journey" reference. XD Nice one!

Don’t worry, Luke, you should’ve seen my reaction to the secret boss at the end of Kirby & the Forgotten Land’s postgame campaign. As soon as the (spoiler) flew into the room I was just like “Wait.. No way! NO WAY! OMIGOOOOOOOSH! IS THAT (spoiler)!? NO WAAAAAAAY! AAAAAHAHAHA! NO WAY!”. No shame in getting overexcited over silly video game things!
How about in Vampyr when you find a vial of old blood, where the item description is "We are born of the blood, made vampire by the blood, undone by the blood." I imagine Luke being very excited.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has some great easter eggs. They reference other Playstation games like Sly Cooper and Kingdom Hearts and possibly even Legend of Zelda.
Damn, I miss Sly Cooper, haven't played any in over a decade! This is the FIRST list I've seen with the same game twice, LOL! AND the previous game too! That's 3 entries in a list of 7!

how about the trophy you get in the evil within where you save joseph from falling off a bridge that reads "everybody gets one" which is a reference to both the Spider-Man meme and the fact that the voice actor for joseph is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, who voices Spider-Man
Wow! It is awesome to see how happy Luke was when he saw that Bloodborne reference! And that God of War reference! And also that you guys are doing Playstation things now too!
They’ve always done PlayStation things, even on outside Xbox, before they created this spin off channel. They would sometimes have to respond to comments asking why outsidexbox had uncharted 2 on an annoying boss list lol
No mention of Shadow of the Colossus (2014)? It has one trophy for finding a barrel from The last Guardian called Boom of the Nomad & the Horned Boy platinum trophy which is an homage to not only to Wander himself but also Ico from I.C.O
I'm so glad someone else was thinking that! Shadow of the Colossus is my absolute favorite game, and for them to add the other two related games into the 2014 remake warms my heart ❤️
Uncharted: A Thieves End has a cheeky in reference with the Stage Fright trophy. It requires you to stand perfectly still for 30 seconds right before the city chase sequence. This is a reference to the E3 demo, where technical issues kept Nate stationary in front of a live audience. For most players, this is a weird and arbitrary task to get one step closer to the Platinum. But for us nerds in the know, it's a cheeky reference to a moment in Sony history.
Tsushima have even bigger easter eggs, [SPOILERS] After the end of the game there is a collection of toys at Jin's house representing several PS games. Also in the DLC, there are new costumes inspired by God of War, Horizon, Bloodborne and Shadow of the Colossus
Unfortunately it doesn't give you a trophy (it does give you new face paint) but I loved how in Horizon Forbidden West, you can find carved wooden figures of Kratos, Atreus, and Brok + Sindri
I got ridiculously excited to see the Easter Egg in Ghost of Tsushima, I won't lie. The Sly Cooper games were among the first ones I ever played when I got a PS2 for Christmas in the early 2000's. Still enjoy the games to this day, and one of my favorite missions is in Sly 2: Band of Thieves when you have to go through the hotel and ransack everything in all the rooms to get the pieces needed for a tuxedo in order to get Carmelita's attention and later dance with her as a distraction during the heist. Though the two areas that always have me hesitant to traverse the rooftops are when dealing with The Contessa... HATE THE WEREWOLF STATUES. I OFTEN DON'T REALIZE IT'S A GUARD IN DISGUISE UNTIL THEY BURST FREE AND JUMP-SCARE ME. Regardless, still awesome games. And my favorite powerup, hands down, as silly as it sounds, is Feral Pounce. XD Edit: I DIDN'T FINISH WATCHING BEFORE SEEING THE JAK AND DAXTER EASTER EGG!! ANOTHER FOND FAVORITE OF MINE!! Also, a fun trophy in Assassin's Creed Valhalla that I got after completing my first anomaly was titled, "It's Not A Bug, It's A Feature!" Definitely a clever one. XD
My first thought with this video's title (after Astro's Playroom) was Horizon Forbidden West - you find God of War totems and earn Kratos' face paint if you collect all three.
You can find a Clicker, or whatever the Last of Us zombies are called, in an elevator in Dying Light 1, but i don't remember if there was a trophy/achievement tied to it or not.
I think I know some of these, but mostly through hearsay. Besides, I'm more of a personal computer person these days. Hehe, can relate to them nerding around in Astro's. Same for me in case video games, especially the indie and obscure ones, get referenced in other works of fiction that aren't video games. Also, Star Wars stuff referenced in other works. Bonus if they're stuff originating from the Legends continuity.
Ghost of Tsushima the main protagonist Jin Sakai can equip suits of armor that serve as references to previous Playstation exclusives Bloodborne and God of War.
I’m surprised Naughty Dog didn’t somehow work Guybrush Threepwood’s appearances into Uncharted 4’s trophies. Maybe they just figured recognizing him - and the 2nd-biggest cistern reference - was award enough.
How about a list with a more broad version of this? "Trophy Lists that had too much fun" or something along those lines. My favorite achievements are always the ones that go wild with the achievement names/conditions/descriptions/artworks. There's a ton of possible picks but a recent example for me is the game Fate Extella Link with everything from Futurama references to a story clear called "Until the Day We Are Rebooted".
Outside Xtra/Xbox fans will recognize the Seattle references because the Outside Xbox crew was at PAX West 2019, a year before the COVID outbreak. A good time was had by all!
Frasier was one of the few impressions that were instantly recognisable in the 90's- nowadays noone gets it if you say "Niles!" In a Kelsey Grammer voice.
Well I was today years old when I learned that the British refer to Fruit Roll-ups as ‘Fruit Leathers’. 😳😬 lol That just sounds so un-enticing and odd for a type of candy.
Trust me when I say this - a Half Diamond lockpick is not something you want to get careless with ... it can really be a bit stabby...!
Play this video out of order and you'll get scrambled easter eggs...
Booooo!
Boo.
Like Frasier sings: but I don't know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled easter eggs
Outside Xtra/Xbox fans will recognize the Seattle references because the Outside Xbox crew was at PAX West 2019, a year before the COVID outbreak. A good time was had by all!
"First level of Crash Bandicoot"
Well I can see somebody who ISN'T a Sony nerd...
Literally reading the comments for this
Naught Dog are LEGENDS!!!!
Not really an easter egg, but still pretty nice: Portal 2. You know, that part.
I never saw so many cigarette butts before I visited Europe. The sheer number in front of the Louvre was more memorable than the Mona Lisa!
Andy's watch reads 12:34 at 03:14.
Just wanted to share the best time of day being visible in this video.
😳😬 lol
That just sounds so un-enticing and odd for a type of candy. At the very least to me it has a connotation of something more savory or more traditional like a type of fruitcake.
I actually had to google it to make sure that was Andy was referring to. Love you guy, you teach me new things in every video. 😁♥️😆
