Crazy how steel and water are considered two of the best types in the game, but their specialists finished 14th and 16th
The peril of monotypes.
Monotype teams can work, but they have to be built really carefully to be able to overcome their weaknesses. This basically means you need to have some very fast pokemon with coverage that can revenge kill threats, a very diverse set of secondary typings that can switch in to your weaknesses, or both.
Wallace and Peony have neither, their teams are relatively slow and have very limited answers to super effective damage. This basically means any fast and strong pokemon that can prey on their weaknesses can utterly wreck their teams, which really hurt them overall in the tourney.
I can say that I thought Blue was going to win at the Top 8. His team seemed really well balanced.
Blue's team is really strong. Just diverse, bulky, has a lot of setup which can spiral out of control, and has a couple of intimidators to handle opposing physical threats. The movesets though, are where it shines above everyone else. Choice scarf machamp with 100% accurate dynamicpunch is insane when the opponent doesn''t have a ghost type, and basically, its just really well constructed so it has answers for everything.
I think the final two, blue and cynthia, were definitely the best two teams in the tourney. Just two really well put together teams.
The fact that the constantly mocked Geeta was the only one who almost able to bring Blue to his knees was even more amazing. That final Gogoat vs Machamp fight was terrifyingly close. If only one Dynamic Punch didn't hit, then Geeta would have been the clear winner. Geeta's team has always been well balanced, it just needed proper execution (which the game AI clearly lacked) to become an actual threat. Even if it didn't have its signature Ubers build, her Espathra really pulled its weight almost as much as Glimmora and Kingambit did.
@@thelordoflulz I never thought her team was as terrible as people made it out to be. Her problem was that the ace (Glimmora) should have been the lead (as it sets Toxic Spikes by taking hits, which you want up as early as possible) and Kingambit should have gotten the ace slot (as Supreme Overlord increases its power in proportion to the amount of fainted mons on your team).
Holy shit Blue absolutely sent Cynthia through a loophole with that Trick play. Amazing final! Glad to see Blue and Cynthia at the top. Shame Steven was so low D:
I'm still bowled over by how well Geeta did. 3rd place. It's so good! And I wish Cynthia won but Blue played amazing.❤
This was fun to watch! I didn't think Nemona or Geeta would do so well (I was pulling for Nemona) but proud of both of them.

I remember SilphSpectre did a "True Power" tournament and Blue won that. He really knew what he was talking about when he said he assembled the Strongest team in the world
i dunno, Cynthia had a good chance in beating Blue, since both Blue and Cynthia needed that one moment in order to checkmate the other. for Cynthia, the check was Milotic and Lucario tag teaming T-Tar. but then, alakazam Tricked choice band onto Spiritomb, and Cynthia-bot let Blue to set-up 2 D-Dance. i would instantly switch out as soon as i got tricked by Alakazam, since alakazam did its job and was about to switch out, and i need Spiritomb to end it. if not that turn after trick, definitely after gyarados to switch into Garchomp. in Gyarados vs Garchomp base battle, Garchomp wins the speed check and 2-hit kills gyarados with Dragon Claws after a single Yache-weakened Ice fang. then, MaChamp would fall to Dazzling Gleam-Roserade or/and Psychic-Lucario, and Alakazam would fall to sucker punch of spiritomb.
Blue was dominant early on and so I was rooting for him but didnt expect him to keep the momentum. This was such a fun tourney to watch so many great match ups.

I love how the two hardest champions we had to face in the games, ended up facing each other. Just goes to show how amazing their teams are. Cynthia and Blue were always my favorite champions because they are the most challenging, I wish greeta could’ve had the smarter AI, would’ve been nice to battle her at her full potential unlike in scarlet/violet
Great call to have an announcement video for the World Tour, it got me to come back here to see the champion seeding while waiting for Bracket 1 to drop. The editing here is phenomenal, and those sponsors?? Sign me up for more ad breaks lol.

If the AI didn’t have that spiritomb spam sucker punch and had milotic heal earlier, Cynthia would have won. Blue was good, but would rate as second to Cynthia.
I would love to see a spin-offs (+ Legends Arceus) only tournament!
